We have been going to the new location for about 9mths I would say Friday night is a great night to go...why pan fried chicken.  Just the right crispyness and flavor is delightful and better yet not too oily.  The service has always been great and big shout out to Anna as not only is she SUPER cheerful but has a wonderful voice. Stop in for the happy hour pretty good deals and they do have a patio for the nice warm weather days.

    Meh  is quite right.
I came here for lunch with my friend for a quick lunch/snack. I wasn't terribly hungry, but my golden standard at my Italian restaurant is the Calamari. So I went ahead and ordered that- which was a mistake. First of all, the calamari were strips, instead of rings like everywhere else in the entire world. The second, they totally lacked any kind of squid texture, at all. The pieces weren't rubbery, they weren't chewy, they weren't even tender... they were just the weird soft texture of a Magic sponge? The breading was heavy, but not well seasoned. I pulled most of it off in an attempt to see what was underneath. I think the pieces were cut from cuttlefish steaks... which isn't the same at all. My friend's sandwich was similarly disappointing.
The only saving grace was the desserts. While the food was odd and lacking, the desserts were an A+. The Tiramisu was light, fluffy, and a generous serving in a lovely martini glass. The flourless chocolate cake was dense, moist, and deliciously fudge-y, everything you would want a flourless cake to taste like. Again, the cake slice was more than generous. We paid our bill and left with a pleasant, sweet taste in our mouths that helped ease the pain of a lukewarm red sauce experience.
Verdict: Come for the drinks, stay for the desserts. But like a romance novel, skip the middle.

The food was fine -- the service sub-par. On busy weekend nights it's definitely not worth it, but when it's not busy, I'd try and nab a seat on the patio.

Caprese Salad and Calamari are good appetizers there, and most of the entrees are fine as well. Spumoni is definitely the best dessert, followed by the flowerless chocolate cake. The tiramisu isn't as good lately as it used to be, I wouldn't order it.

This place is actually really good. I really enjoy the Lasagne that usually runs out fast. I also like the wedding soup. I haven't found better. But the real hidden gem about this place is their Pizza.

The pasta is ok, the sauce is ok, the service may be ok but...How can you call a place " ITALIAN" when the risotto is cooked with white rice?? Does anyone else catch that?

I lived in the hood (NW Denver) for 15+ years and never made it to the other 3 Sons location (now Ernie's.......I know; I know.) That 44th Ave. location was renowned for its overpriced Italian fare, over-blown Christmas decorating and minestrone soup (apparently.)

Anyway the $5 lunch sign was beckoning from Indiana, so I had to try 3 Sons out (albeit in the Arvada burbs.)  I really wanted to keep to my $5 budget so I stayed with the $5 special (Pick 2 for $5 lunch: Sicilian Style Pizza Slice, House Salad, Soup, Mac & Cheese or Spaghetti in Marinara.) I picked the pizza and salad (one pizza topping is free - you pay for the rest.) The pizza reminded me of the french bread type- of pizza - literally on top of a slice of thick, toasted bread; it was okay. Salad was good. Two lemonades later my bill came to $8ish.

I can see where someone else might think the decor is tacky (although everything is newer.) There is a fine line between ethnic decorating and enforcing stereotypes here. The bar seemed really nice; lots of good lighting fromt the east and south windows. Also, a very nice patio that gets little use; I've never seen anyone sit outside with the exception of today.

I would love to bring the family back. Hell, I'm just going to come back for the $2 bottled beer happy hour and sit on the patio. Very nice, accomodating servers.

We live nearby and have been to 3 Sons several times. The decor is on the cheesy side, and the food is a bit pricey but pretty good.

We tried to go again recently, but after waiting at a tiny table in the bar for over 15 minutes for a waiter to even say hello, we decided to leave.  The hostess tried to get someone to wait on us, but without so much as a look from the wait staff for another 5 minutes, we finally gave up.

I went here with co-workers on my first day of work (walking distance).  The restaurant was clean and nice looking (I did not see the decor another reviewer mentioned - maybe they have redecorated).  It was an odd entrance.  There were 6 of us and an elderly couple entered after us.  There was not good organization and it seemed to take 10 minutes just to get a seat even though the restaurant seemed empty (bad first impression).

The menu seemed limited.  There were a couple different salads, a few sandwich options, pizza and a couple entrees.  I chose the eggplant parmesian.  It was good.  Not greasy.  Nice crunchy (seemed panko breaded) crust.  For a lunch dish it was a good (not too big) serving.  But for a dish that is vegetarian it seemed way overpriced for that portion size.  There were  3 very small rounds of eggplant and a normal serving size of pasta (not the american size - a normal size) and I think it was 10 or 11 dollars for the dish, and I was hungry again in 2.5 hours.

The salads seemed like the best deal, but they added like 5-6 dollars to add a protein.  I don't see the need to spend more than 8 or even 10 dollars on lunch so I probably won't choose this establishment unless it is a business lunch again.

We stopped into this place tonight after reading a handful of good reviews. I am Sicilian and have very high expectations for Italian food and pasta, in particular.  I was not impressed when I walked in and saw the cheezy, faux-Italian, ostentatious decor, but I'm so glad we stuck around for the food!

We were greeted and sat right away. Our waiter took our drink orders and went to tend to his other tables (I counted 5 at least that he was handling). I kid you not, it took AT LEAST 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. It took at least 15 before we were even offered water!!! I'm not impatient, nor am I particularly snooty (NOT snotty), but I was annoyed by this lack of attention.

We ordered 2 appetizers, the risotto balls and the calamari, both of which were delicious. Portion sizes were a little small for the money, but the dishes were both unique and prepared differently from what I have seen elsewhere. The salads were fresh and the dressings were homemade and tasty.

Our entrees were fabulous! I had the rigatoni pomodoro and my husband had the plain spaghetti with sausage and meatballs. Our friend had a calzone. We were all very impressed with our meals- portion sizes were right-on...calzones were HUGE... and we had enough for one big meal, or two small meals.

My only criticism, and the ONLY reason why I didn't give this 4 or 5 stars, is that I felt we spent an exorbitant amount of time waiting around, with neither food nor drink. The prices were on par with other good Italian places, and I have no qualms about paying for quality food, which 3 Sons has. But it took 3 of us nearly 2 HOURS to have our meal. We weren't in a hurry, but we were all impatient between courses, and especially before we got our drinks or anything else.  I don't think this is any fault of our server's- he was attentive and helpful- but he just seemed to have too many tables to handle all at once. And you can hardly hold your server responsible for a slow kitchen!

All that said, we will definitely be going again, perhaps on a weeknight when they aren't so busy. And we'll be sitting outside next time, to avoid the really odd, murky lighting and the noise on the inside.

The atmosphere was very nice but the food was not good.  Tastes like spaghetti from a can.  The staff was friendly but they really need to work on their food.

When we entered the restaurant, we were greeted right away and they had an open table, or if we preferred, a booth.  The staff was very friendly in helping us to the table.  Our waitress was prompt, courteous, and friendly.  The food we ordered was very good.  The portions are not large, but frankly, I like that much better than a whole lot of food.  A bit pricey?  Maybe, but we enjoyed the atmosphere, and the food was very good.  Try the tiramsu for  dessert.  It's worth saving some room for.

My husband and I have been here twice and we love it! The food is good, wait staff is friendly and the ambiance is romantic. Last night I was not happy with my salmon and the waiter brought me another one! They really aim to please here! It is family friendly and cute enough for a date night. I love the trout here and hubby likes spinach, mushroom ravioli. They have a mac and cheese that I'm looking forward to trying next time!

WOW check this place out.  We got a sneak peak at the new restarurant Sunday.  Large beautiful patio, and bar.  And the ambiance  warm and inviting.  The service and food was excellent.  We started with the sausage and peppers, then we had one of their signature salads and from there  had the duck gnocchi and one of the calazones.  But be warned,  that calazone was huge.  We walked out there happy and stuffed.   Good luck to 3 sons in their new location.  See you again real soon.
