3 Monkeys is a nice place. Expensive, but nice. I sometimes buy things here, more likely not, but just looking around is fun. This stuff isn't totally my sale but if it was I would LOVE it. Very cool. But why does this business have two yelp pages?

The perfect black chandelier earrings: they are harder to find than you may think.
For a week I searched. I had shopped online from Amazon to EBay. I ran around, all over town from Nordstrom, and found something lovely but not quite right at whopping $89.00, shopped at Claire's and found something quite close at a mere $10.50, but still not the perfection I had in mind.
But today, I waltzed right into 3 Monkeys, perused the jewelry which is arranged by color (thank you very much) and ta-da! Found em. The perfect black chandelier earrings and at $28.00, I was sold.
I'm not sure why I didn't think of the Monkey Store first...I usually find gobs of stuff in there. After finding the earrings, I wrapped things up and hustled my butt out of there lest I empty my bank account and have no drinking money.Listed in: Fabulous Costumes

I can always find interesting things here, I've bought AT LEAST 10 purses here and on every single one of them I receive compliments. Surprised to see comments on the purses breaking easily as they've all lasted me a pretty long time (and I use a lot of them for school books!). Love the antique items and the staff are always wonderful. Everytime I'm on 23rd I have to visit this store!

Eye candy is the correct term. It is a girls dream store. Let me reiterate that by saying, you can buy tiaras here. Actual tiaras and tiara headband style, brooches, pink and every other color of costume jewelry, beautifully scented candles, and just girl things that i now want, but never knew existed before. Okay, prices, hard to find items, and just fun, fun experience! i also LOVE how friendly the staff are and they are all so fabulous!

This store is pure eye candy. I love going here and getting lost in the accessories, hats and unique knickknacks.

RUDE discourteous staff. you'd better be 200% sure you want whatever you buy and won't mind fixing it WHEN it breaks, or you'll only get store credit, for more crappy merchandise.
They have cute things, some really unique pieces, but the staff were arrogant and downright insolent. F*ck that place. -
Review from Marisa S.
What a great recommendation. A friend from Hood River mentioned this place. I was spending the day in Portland, so I made sure to go to the NE 23 Ave. district. This place is a mixture of everything you can imagine, clothing, accessories, housewares, etc. It was fun to walk around and look at everything. Prices are pretty reasonable. I ended up buying two pairs of chunky earrings, but I want to go back to get a summer dress that was so cute.

This place takes the term "eclectic inventory" to a whole new level. I would probably switch out eclectic for "Huh?" "What?" and "Why?" instead, but that's just me.
It's one of those misleading first impression places too. When you first walk in you are hit with, what seems like, tons of cool things to look at in every direction. There's a stairway lined with purses, there's clothes and jewelry, but then when you really start looking, you realize that most of the stuff here is overpriced crapola.
The clothes aren't all that cute, with the exception of one grey sweater, but one piece out of 500 are some pretty bad odds. The purses aren't all that cute either and when you walk up the stairs you find...tiaras? In the smaller room you have ornaments, door knockers, and a lot of weird jewelry.
I dunno, I just didn't get it and didn't leave with anything and was totally okay with that, so I guess that isn't sayin much for this store since I am a shopaholic. Sorry 3 Monkeys. I fling poo at you.Listed in: Portland Hot Spots

This review has been patiently waiting for me to complete and now I finally have the time. I came here with the same friend I went to Anna Bannanas and Little Red Bike Cafe with and we wanted to kill some time before I head back down to Corvallis.
My bank account told me not to spend anything i don't necessarily "need." So I listened to what my bank account told me cuz this place is freakin affordable (okay, well, maybe not the vintage dressers they had on for display purposes as well as being for sale). The clothing they have is so classy and vintage. The bags are a variety to see, cute bags with cartoon octopus', a clear vinyl bag with an assortment of condom packages in their own little compartments, bags that can fit 2 babies in, yeah you get the picture.
They sell incense, ornaments, hats for many cold occasions, signs for the house, china, and other great stuff. The employees here are very friendly and greet you kindly. I love browsing this store! I haven't bought anything yet but when I do I will let you know. -

I bought a purse here and it broke in 2 DAYS. That's freaking ridiculous. Would not offer a refund, rather just store credit.
I didn't intend to return this, cause I live in SAN JOSE. I thought atleast it would last a month or two ... at LEAST. What the heck am I gonna do with store credit to a store in Portland?
WALMART has things that last longer than their bags.
I will NEVER patronize them again.Listed in: Pacific Northwest

I loved the purses, the hats, the jewelry, and the other fun items that 3 Monkeys had inside. I had so much fun poking around in there, the store is fun to visit. I can't honestly say whether or not I would ever buy anything there but it was fun to check the stuff out.
It is hard to take everything in as there is stuff everywhere. The store is packed with tons of items everywhere. I loved the jewelry, they had quite a bit of vintage pieces. I will be heading back there soon!
Fun little store! -

This place is a blast for window shopping (aka: shopping with no intentions of buying anything). I spent quite a long time in this shop, just browsing the tons and tons of things they have for sale.
They had an adorable dress that I really wanted to try on, but they didn't have it in my size - bummer.
They seemed to have some pretty good sale sections, so make sure to keep an eye out for those when you go in.Listed in: A Weekend in PDX

I almost always make a point to visit this store when I visit my old stomping grounds.
I wish wish wish there was a 3 Monkeys in Seattle, but alas, there is not.
I am a fan - I always find something here whether I want to or not - clothes, a wallet, a strange knick-knack. -

Are you the kind of person who thinks an over priced tacky purple leopard print fedora is a must have accessory item? Do you wear tons of fake semi-precious stones? Are some of your favorite musical groups Eiffel 65, Fat Boy Slim, or Zero 7?
Are you a 15 year old rich girl who is toted around by her less attractive, much OLDER, tactless, mother who dresses just like her daughter?
If you enjoy being bombarded by neurotic, pretentious, idiots who call themselves sales associates, that lie about the authenticity of their fake products 90% of the time just to kiss ass and rip you off...
Then 3 Monkeys is right up your alley; the shittiest shop in town that takes the word "vintage" to an entirely shittier level. -
Review from Lisa K.
Portland, OR
The really kick-ass thing about Portland is that there is no sales tax. If the tag says $3 and all you've got is $3 - the bauble is yours. Says $12 and you've got $12.32? It's yours and you'll have 32 cents left to spend on something that is - you guessed it - 32 cents.
You're probably wondering what all this 'no tax' talk has to do with 3 Monkeys...I am getting there now: 3 Monkeys is a bauble-lovers paradise. Kitsch. Good kitsch. Hot kitsch. Fun kitsch. Any kind of kitsch you want. Go in, check out their cool wares, talk to their nice employees, bring $5 and get $5 worth of stuff. No more, no less. -

What a great affordable store. The man and I had fun looking at the random things inside. Also, staff was very helpful and the guy we talked to was pretty funny.
The place made me miss my gays. If my gay boys are reading this, I love and miss you. -

I absolutely adore 3 Monkeys. I am a jacket whore and I can honestly say more than half the jackets I own came from the racks of this store. Yes the prices can be a bit high, but it is well worth it, and if you are patient in your searching you can find some pretty good deals. The sale section upstairs is usually a good bet. Not to mention the awesome staff are always more than willing to help you find what you need, or even strike up a conversation.
I have not yet ventured into the other half of the store with all the home decorations, but there is always a beautiful window display on that side of the store.Listed in: I shop

On my favorite street in Portland, 3 Monkeys is a must-see. One side of the store is, for lack of a better term, a little, um...tacky. I'm sorry! It's true! Bejeweled tiaras, costume jewelry, cheaper clothes...but then! Oh yes, then...you go to the other side of the store, and an antiquey-kitschy haven awaits.
Beautiful items for your home, perfect gifts, interesting knick knacks, antique keys, tiny statues, gorgeous small silver boxes...too much to even remember. Not sure what to get someone for a birthday? 3 Monkeys will most likely be your best bet. -

If I could only use one word to describe 3 Monkeys it would be "fun". Even if you don't have the intent to buy anything (although you'll find it hard to resist), this store is perfect for browsing when you're in the Alphabet District. There are so many eye-catching trinkets, accessories, and clothing items to look through and the staff seems genuinely eager to help you find anything you're looking for or give friendly suggestions.
They have an extensive sale section with reasonably priced items, which is a welcome relief when compared to many of the other boutiques along 23rd that aren't as easy on the wallet. One downside to this is that there's a no return policy on sale items, but I've had some great finds here. -

Its ok. Its kind of a knock off central. A lot of no brand, generic super trendy pieaces that reek of last months runway. Very cheap, in quality I mean.
But, if you are looking for an inexpensive trendy piece and you don't want to fight with 12 year olds at forever 21, then monkeys is good for you. -

This place is great--you never know what you're going to find.
I don't think I've ever bought anything here, but I think that it's mostly attributed to the fact that things were not in my size.
Or I haven't found that item that I just HAD to have.
Yet. -

3 Monkeys is as fun as a barrel of them! Lots of fun coats, bags, household nic-nacs and jewelry to look at while browsing the few levels of the shop. Staff is friendly and helpful but don't follow you around like puppy dogs.
Anytime I am on NW 23rd, 3 Monkeys will be a definite stop! -

Honolulu, HI
I went here two days in a row with my mom to shop the other week. They have a great selection of eclectic items ranging from coasters to dresses to jewelry. The staff is really helpful if a bit understaffed at times.
They had some really adorable winter hats that I hope are still around when the weather gets colder next fall. They also had some cute dresses I'll be sure to try out when I have time. 3 Monkeys is also not overpriced like a lot of the boutiquey stores on 23rd ave, and though I'll probably get shot for mentioning this, they even are fairly willing to bargain if you buy enough.
It's a great place to go if you're ever stuck in a rut wondering what to get someone for a birthday or whatever present as well. This is a store I'll be sure to stop at the next time I pass by. -

ADORABLE!
There's a fantastic selection of newer stuff and vintage pieces, all at very reasonable prices. There are also some really unique antiques and vintage home decor and kitschy stuff.
If you don't want to actually buy anything, you can still go there and look at all the stuff and be entertained for a good long time. But you'll end up wanting to buy stuff, I promise.
The salespeople are interesting and really fun to talk to, too. -

This is one of those places where you need to spend a little time browsing. They're filled floor to ceiling with stuff; some old; some new; some ketch; all like a flea market hunt. Chandeliers, jewelry, iron work, clothes, macabre, art, and gesh; honestly just tons of stuff. Great for home decor items or off beat gifts

There is an awesome jumble of stuff here, but to repeat what has been said, some of it is just tacky. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this was just the cream of the crop from the local Goodwills. Hmm....

How do you describe a place that has absolutely everything! Clothes, trinkets, baubles, and shoes only scratch the surface. 3 Monkeys is reminiscent of an estate sale with all sorts of treasures from gaudy rings, to fine dinner china, to home furnishings that put Pottery Barn to shame. This place is ultra funky with personality and pizazz! Don't forget to head upstairs...it's easy to miss. The stairs are lined with purses so watch where you step...you might trip!

All I can say is that I found the most amazing dress ever here. I. Love. It. !! They have a fun selection of cute clothes, hats, jewelry, bags, etc. Not a place to go if you just need a basic tshirt for 5 bucks, but if you're looking for something fun and unique at a pretty reasonable price, definitely check this place out. My only complaint is I didn't really find the staff to be overly welcoming, and the girl who checked me out informed me that anyone from my home state was a hillbilly. Um. Come on now, no one likes their home state or town to be insulted. And she was specifically insulting probably the wealthiest town in the state (not mine), which I can assure you is not full of hillbillies but instead full of yuppies. At least get it right...

Portland, OR
Sometimes I just stare at the outlay of purses that line the stairs to the second floor in this place; they are arranged by color and so pretty you want all of them. I usually spend at least 45 minutes browsing in this boutique, from the odd jewelry to the trendy dresses, there's a lot to look at. Super friendly staff and good deals if you hunt - not the highest of quality, but if you're looking for trendy, you've come to the right place.

This is a place I find more fun to walk around and look at than actually buying anything. I drool over some of the quirky things inside, such as the pirate ship chandelier above the cash register. Some of the stuff is very reasonably priced, some of it very trendy, and all of it very fun to look at it.

Kitsch done right. I spent 20 minutes walking through & looking at their antiquey house decorations, then dropped a buck & bought myself a rusty old skeleton key. Very cool place!

I love this store! Everything is fashionable and reasonably priced. I could have totally blown my budget here! In fact, I'm still thinking about going back for a couple of items that I didn't pick up the first time!
