I absolutely love my feathers from Isabelle! She is the original feather girl!  I experimented with other feather intimidators, but nothing compares to her work!
3 little birds rocks my world!

Andrea does such an amazing job with my cut and color and now... I have the most beautiful, healthy feathers in the world thanks to Isabelle!

    Thanks 3 little birds!!!

    Chi Chi = Fabulous.

So, buying a daily deal coupon, going to a salon I've never been to for cut AND color, and telling a large gay man with pinkish hair to do "whatever" had potential to be one of my less bright moves. But! My hair turned out awesome.

Chi chi's response was "Can I take length off?" Sure! "Can I die it red?" Sure! "Can I shave one side?" Um, well, maybe not.  He ended up just adding some interest to my natural color (darkening it and adding a red tone without it looking like I was trying to hard) and gave me a cute cut that was more bouncy and stylish than the basic shoulder length 'do I'd been rockin'.

His normal prices were a little higher than what I normally budget for but my boyfriend started going to him and his hair always looks awesome. Fast forward a few months and I made the mistake of let another stylist at a different salon put weird brassy highlights in my hair. When I needed someone who was great with color to fix the brass Chi Chi was totally worth the money. Plus, I walked away with another adorable cut.

The salon itself is a funky "alternative" space but it still manages to feel inviting. You don't feel like it's pretentious or trying to hard...at least I don't. It's definitely my top choice on months that it's within the budget.

Not the best salon in Denver.  My 1:30 appointment for a hair cut turned into a mess with Chichi (sp?).  I got a call he was running late and not to show up until 1:45, which I did...then as I was parking my car, Chichi was walking down the street away from the salon.  I had to wait another 20 mins for him to show up.  When I was finally in the chair, he proceeded to tell me all the things wrong with my hair cut and how the previous stylist messed up my hair.  Good thing the old stylist wasn't a friend of mine.  He cut my hair well but ended it with using a flat iron to make big curls in my hair, which looked like a half ass wedding hair do....let's just say,  I won't be going back or recommending him or the salon to anyone.

The haircuts here are well-priced and its a B&B salon. I've had two stylists so far, and am decently happy with my hair. I feel like I can get a reliably good cut here. However, I feel like they are a little "too cool for school." The first time I came in was on my lunch break; yes, a little dressy because I worked in an office, but not suit formal that day. My first stylist actually told me that there was another salon down the street that I should consider, just based on how I was dressed! Really? It's beneath you to have diverse clients? Awkward from the guy holding sissors to my hair. Anyway, I didn't have time to go somewhere else, and after an awkward haircutting experience, was satisfied with the cut. My next stylist wasn't as pretentious, but I came after work and was dressed down. That cut was also decent. For the price and cut, I can ignore the attitude. "Decent" is the best word I can think of to decribe the salon.

Yep feathers from Ysabel. I look fresh. A smidge costly ($25/locket of 8 feathers) but no cost is too much for beauty right ;).

Staff was very attentive and the space is neat.

Talie is incredible at hair extensions. From the quality of hair she uses and the technique she incorporates, they are the best I've ever had. I have really thin, fine hair and after having my extensions for over a year there was no sign of breakage. Love her!

My Asian friends, if your hair has fallen victim to choppy haircuts performed at the hands of Denver area stylists who may or may not have cut your hair with a dull machete, visit Jesse at this salon.  He will make you look fabulous, and if both you and he have extra time, he will put in extra time to style your hair as if you had an important event to attend later in the evening.

My hair looked good the very next day as well; I didn't have to wait 2 weeks for my hair to calm down.  Excellent!

Jesse loves what he does, and it shows.

P.S. Dogs are allowed to hangout in the salon!

I have been meaning to write this review for a couple of months now...

I moved to Denver from Las Vegas last year-- after going to the same hairstylist for 10 years. Shortly after moving here, I had a traumatic experience at another salon, and was wary of trusting anyone else. I booked an appointment at 3 Little Birds and was handed over to Jesse. Without much info on him, I was a little nervous, but he turned out to be completely amazing. My color came out absolutely PERFECT & has not fallen victim to intense fading (as it usually does). The salon is also really cute!

Last Friday (9/10/10) I went to 3 Little Birds Salon for the first time. I just moved to Denver from Boulder (3 months ago) and have been on the lookout for a new funky fresh salon. So when i stumbled upon the Living Social Deal for a hair cut / color / deep conditioning / paraffin hand treatment for $75 at 3 little birds, i couldn't resist. I had been eyeing this place for weeks, wanting to check it out every time i was at watercourse (right next door).
Eddie was my stylist and let me just say he is AMAZING. I loved every minute of my experience there. I went in with a whole new look in mind : dark, more layers + bangs. I explained this to Eddie and he knew exactly what he was doing. we sat down, talked it out, and he went to work. He took his time and worked magic.
I love my hair and i will definitely be back for more. Thanks 3 little birds, and thank you Eddie!

Dear Chi-Chi at 3 Little Birds,

I'm sitting here combing my fingers through, or at least trying to, my dry, frizz ball, jungle of split endz (yes--with a "Z") hair, thinking of the better times it has seen.  Namely, the last and first time I came to see you.

I was in quite the same predicament.  I had let my hair grow wild and free, without getting it trimmed or conditioned in a few months.  When I came to you, you sat me down in your chair, with your many words of wisdom...including:  "Stop using these retarded elastic bands, they are ruining your hair," and,"You have a neck!  Let's do something with your hair to show it off," and, "Let's get dangerous!"...(well, you didn't say that last thing, but you did in my head)...and then the magic began.

I sat there slightly worried about my first experience in a few years with someone who had never cut my hair before.  I had all those emotions you have your first time with a new [scissor ninja] guy.  Nervousness, clammy palms, and a moment of "I wonder if he likes me."  Then, your coldly calculated sharp stainless steel scissors danced around my head, as you flipped my hair to and fro into submission.

You put the bounce back in my curls, you gave my hair a shape, tamed it with your magical Bumble & Bumble products, and you gave me something I hadn't had since the 90s...bangs!  But these were not just any bangs, and definitely not the same as the ones Monica rocked on Friends back in the day.  They were the kind that an architect would put on a building if buildings had hair...but they don't.

And at the end, you told me a little about the B&B product line, but you didn't try to push it on me like a pimp does a lady of the night on a john drunkenly staggering out of a bar after closing.

With all of that said, I'm coming back to see you soon.  My hair and I need you.

    X's and O's,

    Newsha

Jesse Brown! Oh how I love thee! I came in here with my LivingSocial coupon and I loved it! The decor and vibe is awesome and Jesse did amazing things for my hair! I am going back in soon for the bang trim and he will be my guy for as long as I can tell! I have always been a loyal stylist goer. In AZ I went to my Trina for 6 years, even after I moved to CA I had to go back. So I am so glad that I found him and this salon! Did I mention BEER while you wait and while your getting do up! Yes please! Jesse was great with the cut and made my hair a rad color! Love it!

Took the leap into super short hair - like pixie short. Was nervous about trusting a stranger to do it. Had an appointment with Tallie and she was AWESOME! Very cool and fun! Easy to talk to, but not overly chatty. She was an excellent communicator to make sure we were on the same page about what she was about to do and what I was expecting the end result to look like. I was trying to get away from a boring, soccer-mom cut I got when I first moved to Denver. She delivered - I feel fresh, fun, sexy and powerful. What more could a girl ask for?

The salon itself is a Bumble & Bumble facility, which is great. The assistant that shampooed gave a very nice wash and scalp/neck massage that was heavenly. Its decorated with local artwork and they play cool music.

I will definitely be going back here and recommend to my friends.
3 cheers for 3 little birds

I've been to three little birds a few times now and I've gone with  chi chi every time. I think his hair cutting was great on my fine thin hair. My color could have used some work it was streaky at times and not always exactly what I was looking for. Chi chi has always said that if I didn't like something to call and he would fix it, I'm just not willing to spend more time in a salon then I have to. I guess the reason I'm not returning is I didn't feel personable with him like I have my other favorite stylist. I would highly doubt he would no my name. It may be that I'm not the kinda girl that likes to sit in a salon processing with no conversation.

Got my new bad ass feather extensions here from Ysabel.  I don't even wanna talk about it, as I don't want the whole town running around with them too.
But I'm moving, so who cares.
About $25 per "locket" (aka mini bundle of feathers).  I believe it's less the more you get.
We'll see how they hold up, but they def look dope.
Place is clean, well decorated, and employees were all friendly, accommodating and attentive.

I guess I should upload a picture of my hair and let you judge for yourself, but I don't feel like doing that right now, so I'll write about it instead.

Hurray for Sarah! I have never had somebody pay such meticulous attention to detail on my bangs before. It was unreal, and I told her so! I walked in a shaggy dog, and walked out a modern Bettie Page. Furthermore, Sarah doesn't have a hair-induced hearing deficit, as many stylists do. I told her what I wanted, and that is what I got, she fixed the issues I had with my previous cut, and voila...happy camper.

Location: super convenient for me, as I live walking distance from it
    Atmosphere: comfortable, funky, spacious, light-filled
Service: I got iced tea, and a great hair-cut
Price: I paid $50 w/$10 tip...in keeping with city salon pricing, and I've got a big mop of hair, so it's fine by me.

The only draw-back, is the way the stations are angled...you end up trying not to stare at the person who is getting their hair cut at the next station, and I was a little self-conscious when I was whining about what was wrong with my hair that I wanted to be fixed, when the cute guy getting his hair cut at the next station was obviously watching and listening.

This is a good shop with solid talent!!

PS - Sarah was just in NYC for training at Bumble and Bumble...

The perfect salon: skilled stylists who are fun people, a cool vibe (but not too cool for school), and prices that don't make you gulp.

A couple of young stylists opened it about a year go and every time I go in they've added new furniture and rearranged things. I really like everyone there so it makes me happy to see the place grow and evolve.

They carry Bumble & Bumble products.

    Dear Chi Chi,

I love you.  Ok my hair loves you... Ok my vanity loves you.  You are the first stylist I have been to that I feel really understoood the strange texture of my hair.  Thin but curly, wavy, frizzy, half fro, unhealthy, tortured etc...  Well your magical scissors made me look human again, and a beautiful human at that.  My hair is manageable and I can even style it myself and you gave great advice at how to do so.  I will be coming back.  THANK YOU

I've tried many different salons in the metro area and this is the best!  I get consistently good cuts, colors, and blow-outs.  This is a great place for people with curly hair.  So many stylists have no idea how to cut curly hair, but these guys really get it right.

This place is legit.  I moved to Denver a year ago and got my first haircut here.  As a straight guy with boring corporate hair, I was scared to get my hair cut by Chi Chi at first, but now I'll never go anywhere else.  I work in a professional environment and my lame hair needs a lot of attention in order to look good.  He always makes it look awesome.  I'm sure he's used to doing more exotic cuts/colors, but I appreciate his ability to make me look sharp.

I recently went to another salon and got 5 inches cut off my hair. The woman I went to didn't listen to me at all. The haircut she gave me wasn't bad, but it wasn't even close what I wanted. So I remembered that a friend of mine had recommended 3 Little Birds to me about six months ago. I decided to call and see if they could fit me in, and I was able to get an appointment for the same day. I had the pleasure of having Eddie cut my hair. He listened to what I wanted, and wasn't afraid of cutting it short! I love the cut he gave me! It's short and sassy and fun, which is everything I asked for. Eddie was also great about discussing different styling options for my hair cut, and about  letting me know what products would work well in my hair without being pushy for me to buy anything. I can't wait to go back and see what other awesome things he will do to my hair in the future!

I had never been to this salon before. I went for a cut and color and got Jen. While I must say that she did a good job on the color, she pulled my hair a lot and and I'm not tender-headed. She also got it very tangly, and my hair is not prone to tangles. After making several wincing noises and faces and getting no change in the hair pulling I finally said "Ouch, you're really pulling my hair" and her response was, "oh, you're tender-headed?"
No "Sorry", No "I'll try to be more gentle", nothing! I said, "Actually I'm not really that tender-headed." and she only said five words to me for the rest of the time. Awkward!
It seemed that she and the other stylists were a lot more interested in how they were going to set up internet dating profiles than my hair. For $140 dollars I expected better.

Quite possibly the best salon I've ever been to, and I've had my fair share of salon experiences!  Lynette is an amazing stylist and artist, and always takes amazing care of me and my hair!  She has a great sense of what works best based on your face shape, hair type, and works a lot with the natural cowlicks you may have in your hair so that they work WITH your hair style, not against it!

I also recently got feathers in my hair by Ysabel (FeatherLux) who is SO outstanding!  Her feather assortment is both broad and beautiful, and all of the feathers come from birds who die naturally, so it's very animal friendly!  Her artistic style is outstanding and she knows just where and how many to place in your hair so that it best fits your style.  Mine have been in for over a month now and they are doing great, no problems, wash fine in the shower and hold up to the hair dryer and various styling products.  Have never in my life received so many compliments about my hair as I do with my feathers.  The more you get the cheaper they are, and after a few months you just need to get a "lift" where they are moved closer to your roots which is cheaper than getting all new feathers put in.

An outstanding place, amazing staff, fun and artsy decor!  Get your butt over there if you haven't yet!!!

I hate that I have to deal with my hair.  It's a pain and I actually wish humans had evolved into being hairless by now so I didn't have to worry about it.  That being said, I never know what to ask for at a salon.  I just don't want to look TOO nerdy.  So I basically walked in and said "make it look cute" and Sarah did.  The stylists are friendly, the interior is a clean (bordering on stark) and the products are great (If I could, I would take Bumble and Bumble as a lover).  Bang trims are free, hurray!  Prices are pretty typical.  It's not cheap, but not ridiculous either.  All the ladies are from Moxie, so it's a comparable vibe without the pretension.  Love the place!

My dull boring hair needed a rebirth so on a whim I bought the living social deal of the day which was a cut and highlights @ 3 Little Birds Salon. I arrived about a half hour early so I expected a wait. I was greeted with friendly attention and took a seat in a retro salon chair. I only sat there for a minute before I was taken for my transformation. It's a cool place with a good vibe and everyone seemed happy and friendly! Not to mention I got a fantastic cut/color from Jenn. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking!

Went to 3 Little Birds today for the first time.  I had walked by before and was intrigued by the place so I finally tried it.  Got my haircut by ChiChi, who was incredibly nice and knowledgeable.  He fixed the mess that my last stylist created up in Boulder and I am very happy with the result.  They are a Bumble and Bumble exclusive salon, which rocks, and he knew and good amount about the products but didn't push me to buy them when I was leaving.  Because of that, I will definitely go back and plan on buying my products there.

I definitely suggest going to this salon

I love 3 Little Birds Salon and all the stylists there. They've become like a family to me. Beyond my perfect hair cut and color, done by Lynette Cohen, they truly care about their customers. I've gotten so much health and beauty and life advice that it's more like a life consultation every time I come in. It's also like a little party. Everyone is so friendly, they have fun at work and make me laugh. I refer to Lynette as my hair stylist / therapist / bartender. (Yes you can have a beer there! Or whatever else they may have at the time, wine, champagne, water..) So really the icing on the cake is my fabulous hair. I carry their business cards around in my purse because I get so many compliments, practically daily. (Not boasting about myself, I give all the credit to Lynette.) I also love the uptown / urban feel of the space. They are really active in the community and the Denver scene, showcasing local artists, jewelry and clothing. Seriously, go there! You will love it.

I've been using Lynnette for my hair for over 8 years. They have extremely reasonable prices for such a trendy atmosphere. This is not your stuffy salon. All of the staff are extremely helpful and fun. This salon is locally owned and operated and I like knowing that my money is helping out some well deserving owners. They have a strict "open chair" policy so if you are unhappy with one stylist's take on your coif, you can let someone else have a shot without any repercussions. I highly recommend 3 Little Birds.
