This is our favorite breakfast place to eat at when we visit NYC every few years.
I enjoy leaving the busier part of Manhattan and walking up Madison Ave to do
a little shopping. Usually on my way to the Ralph Lauren stores. This is a diner.
I usually order a really good omelette with fresh ingredients, some bacon, toast, and
fresh squeezed orange juice. The servers are ALWAYS super friendly and attentive
in the middle of busy NYC. This is where lots of locals eat, so it must be good. The waiters seem to know their regulars and treat them like family. I recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood.

This place is a "get the job done" kind of place.  I ordered the Smoked Salmon Benedict (with Dill infused hollandaise) and a Bloody Mary.  My bloody was particularly blah.  Watery, no spice, and teeny tiny.  My meal was fine and the dill was a nice touch, but I actually found a tiny piece of string in my food.

My cohort ordered the banana pancakes.  They were pretty good actually.  Gave him a bit of a stomach ache after we were done since they were so heavy, but I think that's the nature of the beast, not because they were crappy pancakes.

Will not be returning here.  Oh well!

We ate an early dinner there yesterday, since we were walking by on our way home and decided not to ignore our hunger pangs.  Plus, we love diners and they have an "A" rating from the Health Department.  We both ordered the salmon with seafood stuffing, which came with a cup of soup (I had the minestrone & my husband had the matzoh ball), a potato (we chose baked) and a vegetable (we chose the string beans).  They also gave us a bread basket, which had three semi-warm/generic-tasting rolls and a fair number of bread sticks & melba toast.

The soup was delicious, the fish was very good (we were each given two decent-sized pieces, which was a lot), the potatoes were o.k. and the string beans were *awful* (so bad, in fact, that they were inedible).  We thought the prices weren't unreasonable for all that food and particularly in that high-rent district ($19.95/each).

The service, however, left a LOT to be desired; our server was incredibly perfunctory - bordering on unfriendly - and she never once checked back with us (as an aside, the place was nearly empty).  She also overcharged us - and when I pointed it out to her, she didn't even apologize (of course, she corrected the bill).  The busboy was pleasant, as we had to flag him down to get the check (apparently our server was too busy doing nothing in the back [we downgraded her tip due to unfriendliness & no "service" and she frowned at us when we left, but too bad for her]).  Also, the cashier was very friendly.

Just another run of the mill diner on the UES, except this one is ridiculously expensive. Dropped in here this morning for a quick breakfast and almost got my eyes ripped out of my head.

Two eggs, potatoes, toast, and coffee for $7.75? Or the same thing with one egg for $6.75? Holy crap. Looking over the menu it seems as if everything is a few dollars more than the diners closer to 2nd and 3rd Ave. I think you are paying the "Madison Avenue surcharge" here.

The food itself was just ok and nothing to rave about, and the place itself is kind of bland looking. Coffee tasted burnt. Meh.

Just skip this one and head on over to one of the better diners a few minutes away.

First time going in, and I tried a chicken avacado sandwich. To be honest, i'm not really a messy eater. So I found it pretty annoying how impossible it was to neatly eat the sandwich, so I ended up doing the whole fork and knife deal cutting it up.

They have cute little (messy in the long run) jello bowls for the kids.

The staff was very nice and were constantly filling my water, so overall it wasn't necessarily a bad experience but i'll definitely go with a safer meal next time!

I'd choose Sant Ambroeus over 3 Guys for breakfast. The fruit salad is nice and fresh and the portion is generous. The chunks of melon and orange are usually too big, though. All in all, 3 Guys is a nice neighborhood place, great for family Saturday mornings. The service is good, though not exceptional, but can get a bit slow, even when the place isn't too busy.

i just ordered a $24.00 salad for delivery - the chicken was overcooked and they forgot the mushrooms.  This diner is way over priced and the food truly is marginal.

The seats are sticky, as are the tables and everything else. The price is normal for breakfast food, however for the quality of the food I thought it was overpriced. My omelette was flat and pretty burnt tasting.

Ok....A wide variety of choices on the menu,  sandwiches a-plenty, ALL served with pickles, AND you pay up front.

They say it's a restaurant, but let's be real with ourselves... it's a diner folks.  Having said that,  it's pretty good.

OK, so i will start with the good.

We ended up here on  a Sunday afternoon. There was no other Eatery open in the vicinity. hubby and i had the steak. It was pretty good, ( I liked the capped mushrooms on top). Bunny loved the waffle fries!! The after meal Latte was pretty good .

Fast forward to our third trip. The mashed potatoes seemed like they were made out of a box ( i don't know how i never noticed that before), I could of made better home made mashed potatoes myself.
I think hubby was upset too because he felt he was skimped on the waffle fries.
Oh and try to talk with th manager it seems like he's always drunk.
( With his glass of whiskey or scotch all the time i would think he was)

So i gave three stars because our first two trips were fine, not our third one though. Our waiter and bus boy were always nice.
The prices for a diner were a little above average, but we expected that given the neighborhood.

The prices are high, and there are only three guys.

You can get two more guys and lower prices elsewhere.

I think that every time I walk by this place.

Furthermore, for diner food there's both better and cheaper not too far away.  I really don't understand why this place remains in business.  Maybe it's just that it's on a busy corner.

It at least looks nice inside and they make an effort to give you a no-stress (but no frills) experience.

Your standard New York diner. There's a huge breakfast menu offering every combination of eggs, toast, potatoes, and breakfast meats you could possibly dream up. The two eggs any way with potatoes, toast, coffee, and juice is a great deal at $5.75. Nothing on the plate will blow you away, but it's a great value for a fortifying breakfast served up fast.

Definitely a diner, but that's what we were looking for. Something cheap, quick and good. We sat at the bar and I ordered the gyro. It was okay, but I wouldn't have called the thin slabs of meat placed between  the pita chicken, but...it was edible. The french fries were decent and service was quick.

This is a true diner. I would not consider it a restaurant after my two experiences. Now, they were not terrible, but they could of been way better. The first time I ate in I had the BLT wrap with broccoli on the side. The wrap was bland, and so was the broccoli. I didn't think I would be ordering again until a couple days ago. The second time we got take out. I got the BLT wrap again, but with fries this time. The BLT wrap was still bland, and it seemed like there was no bacon or tomato due to the overpowering lettuce. The fries were okay, but you know this place is probably not that amazing if their fries are better than everything else. And for this service, it is way too overpriced. Overall, I really do not favor this place. Go somewhere else and get better prices and service!

Ordered a chipotle burger. Received a hamburger with pickled carrots on top. The fries might've been Ore-Ida (at very least, extremely comparable) and the coleslaw was more likely to eat me than I it. Quick service. Mite overpriced. Alien monster burst from my gut after meal. Would not go again.

If you're looking for a diner on Madison Avenue in the 80's ... This is one of them. It's less crowded than Nectar, has two floors, is very friendly to children. And the food tastes like it comes from a diner, which it does.

The worst diner choice in an area with many options.  It is expensive, the food mediocre and the service hit or miss.  I save my biggest knock for the delivery, which is always challenging.  We have given up ordering from them because they almost invariably forget something or make a mistake of some sort.  When mistakes are made, the delivery person is usually grumpy about it and the restaurant never apologizes.  Walk a few blocks and deal with people who actually want your business.

Decided to give it a try but it is bad, really bad.  Take your lowest expectations of Denny's or IHOP and then add ten dollars to each of the plates and that is about what you will get.

This diner's food is so shabby compared to West Side's Metro Diner, for instance.  They are taking advantage of the sad lack of a decent diner in the neighborhood.  There used to be such great ones on E. 86th, now smashed for the sake of luxury condos (that nobody can or wants to afford now).  The wait staff is totally innocent and tries hard.  But who is  managing this place?  They have plenty of patrons, so why the skimpy platters and fat checks?
