Great corner market. Has everything from parsley to organic dark chocolate with almond and sea salt. Prices are reasonable and selection is good, particularly for those last minute items you forgot at the grocery store but need close and in a pinch.

For a neighborhood market, this one is a cut above the rest. The market has a number of fresh fruits and veggies, they sell freshly baked bread, there is a wide variety of staples and they have an impressive wine selection. In general, I have always been very satisfied with the quality of the items they sell. The one drawback is the price. While I expect a neighborhood market to cost more, some of the prices here make me think twice about walking the extra distance to a less convenient location.

The selection here is unbelievable. Not only do they carry every item you can think of, but they carry three different kinds of said weird item. Need miso paste? They have three kinds. Local honey? Three kinds. Tamari soy sauce? Three kinds. Liquid aminos? Okay, just one kind, but seriously, liquid aminos??
The only place they're lacking a little is in the produce department, where the selection is a bit thin and the prices are a bit steep. -

Not a bad spot. I've never gotten the produce or "grocery" items, but I've on many days run in for one of the refrigerated sandwiches, wraps, Peasant Pies, other light eats, kombuchas, and / or protein drinks when in the neighborhood. Once or twice I've made a champagne run here (only as a courier, not an imbiber), and I once went just to get Tabasco for a household in need of un-blandness. The folks at the register are polite, and I've never seen the place crowded. Shopping here is simple and pleasant.

Everything Thadd and Dan said.
This place is wonderful. It's basically a miniature whole foods. But better. They have a large vegan and vegetarian selection of pre-packaged foods as well as hard/impossible to find items (i.e. vegan cream cheese, vegan sour cream, organic avocados, soy delicious, kiss my face soaps, those fucking delicious dolmas in a can, etc). Almost everything appears to be organic.
The staff is always playing cool music and dancing in the aisles...you kinda want to dance with them in celebration of the best corner market ever. And sometimes you do. Fuck convention.Listed in: Junk Food Vegan in the Bay…

Becca, if you're reading this, let's just be friends again. I mean, this is YOUR store in YOUR neighborhood, and since we're not friends anymore, I feel like there's an unspoken rule about me not shopping here again....
See, I used to have a best friend who lived down the street from this little gem. She was vegan and they always had plenty of food to fill her (and me!) up. They also have an impressive wine selection and lots of choices at all price points. Cheese is a big one here- there are many varieties and not at outrageous prices. They also carry the usual pre-made ready-to-eat vegetarian and vegan sandwiches/salads/pastas that most health food and organic produce stores carry. UNLIKE most health food and organic produce markets, they also sell cigarettes, which suits this healthy eater/unhealthy inhaler just fine. I'd like a little tar with my non-gmo apples and RSBT-free turkeys, thankyouverymuch. It's all about balance, people...
Additionally, the shop owners are absolute Rock Star Saints, who make a point to know the neighbors and always treated us like family when we ventured in for booze and snacks. Also- they have some interesting, eco-friendly(er) fire "logs", which are not logs at all, but actually bags of some environment friendly(er) materials that burn just as well as those nasty old duraflames and don't do as much damage. SHOP HERE NOW if you live in the neighborhood. And seriously, Bec, let me know if there's ever a good time to stop in here and grab some goat cheese and champagne. -
Review from Ravena F.
Before the recent rain, there was:
One medium sized-sized mango resting in a small blue bowl on the kitchen counter. I had bought it three days prior, and in those three days, it did not rain. But the scent of mango grew heavy, and I wondered if it might rain mango juice from the ceilings in our flat. It was so strong, in fact, that I considered the possibility of the sweet smell wafting into my upstairs neighbor's flat, causing her to dream of hot tropical rain forests growing in San Francisco.
The mango became overripe. I ate it anyway, when it rained, and it made me dream of my years living in Taiwan. Oh yes, it was that good.
I bought it at this little market. And I thank them for this wet, warm fruit.Listed in: Wasabi Peas

This grocery store has EVERYTHING...can I say everything? It reminds me of stores in Italy, where they are tiny but seemingly carry everything that you need to make a dinner or just snack. Here, they have produce, canned goods, wines, hard alcohol, gourmet chocolates, refrigerated foods, coffee, flowers, and tons of organic food. Yes, it's not cheap, but you just pay a little extra for convenience. The people that run it are always friendly.
FYI - credit card minimum minimum is $8, but it is easy to spend that here! -

Best. Corner market. Ever. Just unbelievable. The people who run this place are so nice and they have done an astounding job of packing just the things you need into a tiny space and selling them at reasonable prices. When we moved in our landlords mentioned this place as being one of the reasons to live here. We thought they were joking. They weren't.
This existence of this market has - I'm serious - completely revolutionized my thinking about how civilized the process of obtaining food can be. Giant grocery stores seem almost impossibly harsh and overwhelming to me now, even fancy/overpriced ones. I'm probably ruined forever from shopping at them. -

Corner stores pose a unique dilemma for the obsessed Yelper. Generally, San Francisco is compact enough that any truly Yelp-beloved restaurant, or even coffee shop or ethnic grocery, is worth checking out, even if it's across town. But a corner store? People usually love them for their proximity to home more than anything, so following the trail of 5-star reviews to some out-of-the-way neighborhood is sort of paradoxical.
Lucky for me, I commute by bike, so pretty much anything that's more or less on the way to work could be considered "my neighborhood". At the very least it's convenient to swing by. Such is the case with just about anything in the Mission, so I thought I'd check out 26th & Guerrero to see what all the fuss was about.
The funny thing is, you just might want to go out of your way for this place, as it's a miniature marvel of meticulousness. They've got every possible thing a corner store could carry and then some--groceries, snacks, booze (including a Shiner Black I've never even seen in Texas), cosmetics--all packed into this tiny space and so fastidiously organized it's awe-inspiring...almost zen-inducing. Seriously, I'd love to just come here and meditate for a few minutes every morning. Even the old, suburban, Costco-loving part of my brain (which always screams that corner stores are a rip-off taking advantage of lazy people who don't plan ahead) was impressed. I didn't look too hard at the prices but they seemed fair enough. No gouging like Valencia Whole Foods, that's for sure.Listed in: 24th & Mission

San Francisco, CA
26th and Guerrero market is the absolute closest place to my house at which money may be exchanged for food. As such, I find myself there quite often. It's very San Francisco: almost everything is organic and healthy, and the choice is surprisingly large for such a small place. There's even a respectable selection of liquor behind the counter, making this the most upmarket bodega in the world.
A humorous aside: On the anniversary of 9/11 this year I was standing at the checkout behind a guy who was griping about American world domination and the military/industrial complex, and other such rants, when he told the lady behind the counter that "San Francisco should take over the country". I had to stifle a laugh because his basket was full of sprouts, tofu and organic radishes. I hate to be the one to break this to you hippie, but they eat red meat in the rest of the country. And they own guns. Take over the country? You wouldn't get past Oakland...
Anyway, great market. -

Thank God there is an organic / environmentally aware place to buy vegetarian food, baby items, pet foods and eco-friendly cleaning products in our little corner of the Mission. Little shops like this -- which is walkable from our apartment -- are one of the many reasons we're glad we moved to SF from New England!
This is one of those places where you think, "Geez, I wonder if they could possibly have xxxx..." and you go and 9 times out of 10 they have what you need amazingly tucked away in their little shop.Listed in: My Neighborhood

This place is so awesome, I would get an apartment near it if I was house-hunting. I lived a block away for a year and did all of my shopping here and at the Noe Valley Farmer's market. I went to Trader Joe's maybe three times in that year.
Amazingly, they do have everything. An incredible selection. Items are easy to find. Prices are really reasonable. The people who work here are super friendly and will help you find anything.
I got organic milk, raw milk cheese, extra virgin oils, imported crackers, organic soups and toiletries here. They have a great wine selection with several affordable bottles. The chocolate selection is out of this world. There are many ethnic foods here that are hard to find even in big grocery stores. I rarely bought produce because the farmer's market is better but when I did, it was good quality. They always have fresh and unique bouquets of flowers too.
Best corner store ever. -
Review from Suzanne J.
San Francisco, CA
I was drawn in by the unusual fresh flowers by the front door, then over to the organic fruit, on to the fresh bread ... and I was hooked.
I am primarily a vegetarian (plus sushi) and eat organic and local as much as possible. I love to cook and am trying to get better at "Big City Cooking" -- buying wholesome, fresh food just for the next few meals and then taking it home and enjoying the whole process of preparing and indulging. I don't want my refrigerator crammed with food I won't eat for a week. This store is perfect. They have everything I need, they are friendly and helpful, and they are even getting me some organic flour to make my bread with.
This little market lets me live in the city the way I like to -- with essential products and services in people sized establishments that are easy to get to without using the car. Not only is the food good for you, shopping here makes you feel like a real person in a small friendly community.. -

Simply put: Goddamn Amazing. So yeah, I am finally writing a review about this place and it is long overdue. And as my neighbor Kelly M. states in her review, I have easily been spending over a 1/5 of my income at this place for over a year. I always make the half block walk with the intention of getting just Milk... 5 minutes and $40 later, I am returning home with one delicious beer, broccoli, rice pudding, tahini, EVO and one chocolat chip cookie.
Yes, I leave kind of angry, but then.... actually i am not really angry, it's just that I haven't even walked to the back of my house where my kitchen is located and I have already realized that I forgot the Milk. The point of this story is not that I forgot the Milk, but the simple fact of the matter that this place is so stocked with Culinary treats that it is very easy to forget the everyday necessities I meant to grab. While Safeway is only another 4 blocks away and quite a bit cheaper, I have become to accustom to the ease of doing 75% of my grocery shopping at the local quality market.
As all these other reviews state, the do indeed have a great liquor and wine selection ranging from quite affordable to not affordable.
To top the convenience and quality factor of my neighborhood market, the owner(s) and staff are the mostest bestest people around. -

I never thought that I'd be using the word "gorgeous" to describe a grocery store, but it is...it really is. It is gorgeous and it is dazzling and it is sparkling clean! Boy, going in here really pleases my innate penchant for visual order! You've got to see it to believe it.
As for what they sell, well let's see, they have nutella, they have Looza brand mango juice, they have Midori liquer, and, hell, that's about all a place needs to have in stock to make me become a customer!
This place is a high class joint fo sho! Way beyond five stars.Listed in: Shwanky!

San Francisco, CA
I lived near this place for several months and would stop in at least once a week.
I never did major grocery shopping here, just would use it to pick up a few items during the week. I was so happy that I could grab organic leeks and dino kale right around the corner for pretty cheap. Aside from the organic berries and veggies, I tended to get the same things over and over.
I did notice their prices increased during the past year (as food prices worldwide increased), so I would have to take my business elsewhere for staples such as organic eggs. But it's great for grabbing a healthy snack, small dinner, or maybe some Japanese veggie chips, a Gus drink or an It's It. Honestly, that's definitely what I bought more than anything else in the store, ha. You'd find me in the freezer section, digging in the back box looking for a chocolate one.
Good selection of wine, spirits, herbal remedies, and there's a small section for toiletries too for your Tom's toothpaste and Chandrika Ayurvedic soap.
I always felt the hours were really good, too. And the people who work here are nice and pretty laid back. It's a great little store. -

I love this market.
The produce is organic, the foods are well chosen, and the folks who work there are absolutely lovely.
I am usually in a yucky mood when I go in - tired and feeling broke, and I always walk out happy.
This market has a wonderfully hand-picked selection of yummies.
Check it out! -

I've been shopping here since I moved to the neighborhood four years ago, and it's always a lovely experience. Going to a party? Great place to stop in for flowers, champagne, wine, beer, etc. If you're sick you can get cough drops, and if you're achy you can pick up bath salts.
The quality control is thorough on the produce, and nothing is ever bad (except maybe the occasional old onion). The produce prices are high, but no higher than Rainbow or Bi-Rite, which are standard for the neighborhood. The grocery prices are better than Bi-Rite.
The most important thing is that it's been the same employees the whole time, and they are very friendly and helpful. I can only assume it means they pay a living wage and treat them well.
Fantastic selection of red wines, white could be better...and lots of options including vegan for frozen desserts. What could be better in a corner store? -
Review from Ivy S.
San Francisco, CA
This is the closest grocery to my house with what I consider to be normal hours and not-a-bodega selection of food (e.g. organic, or from a range of food groups). I like the selection for the most part, and think they appropriately select a range of options for most products (price and organic-ness), but I would love to see a few more non-organic options to make this more of a place I could get basics from. I always end up berating myself for spending $9 on a frozen pizza or $12 on syrup because I was craving pancakes. It would be nicer if every product had a couple of options at different price points, even if that meant that one option was "less" organic; but perhaps that is the Trader Joe's-phenomena that has colonized my mind to make me believe that we can all have cheap, non-corporate-feeling groceries just on the basis of wanting it badly enough.
I like the wine and beer selection and find the range of price and selection very thorough. -

Wow this place is benefitting from a little Yelpflation, IMHO. I live a half-block away and I try to avoid it because I feel ripped off. And the lady that works there a lot is not very nice.
Sure, everything's fresh and high quality, and the chocolate, wine, and spirits selection superb, but it's not really *all that. It is relatively expensive (1/2 lb of deli ham for $9!). The ice cream choices are sorta limited. They don't have some basic meats and stuff.
It does appeal to the yuppie in me though, and it's close, so it's an easy corner store to love. Just wanted to give you a little more info so you're not blown away by the prices and smallness... -

The Mission: first proper dinner party in my new house (ok, yeah, we've lived there for two months already, I don't wanna hear about it). It's 4:45, people are coming at 7, where can I get arborio rice and shallots? I turn to trusty Yelp and am beguiled by the reviews of this lovely market.
The Scene: Called the woman, she searched out the rice, I went, I found parking, I was seduced into buying tons of things I don't need, she gave me free sesame candy for packing my own bag. Awesome. Plus they have a fantastic wine selection, including a nebbiolo I'd been wanting!
The finale: dinner was awesome. Waking up at 7 the next morning, not so much. -

I live less than a block away and I shop here at least once a week. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side, but they have a lot of great-tasting food and beverages (lots of it organic) -- from granola cereal, to cheeses, to fruit, and beers. It will surprise you with the amount of things you can find in this relatively small store. It may not be able to completely replace those trips to Safeway or Costco, but it's worth it for the convenience, variety, and friendly service.

Thank you 26th and Guerrero Market for feeding me over the past 3 years. I love everything about you. I love the esoteric items hidden away in your shelves. I love the new treats you find for me and offer up. I love that one time I just bought 2 bottles of wine and some Ny-Quil, and you weren't judgemental at all.
You have everything I need: nice wine, cheap wine, protein shakes, tasty hummus, yummy frozen food, coffee, and booze. Oh and Ny-Quil. Take me I'm yours.
You guys have almost made me a vegetarian - and liked it. And one day you guys will probably succeed. And I also know you're totally cool and non-judgemental about the fact I'm not there yet. -
Review from Ashlee J.
My roommate adored this place (was next door to where we lived) & I couldn't figure out the big deal. Yes this place has all the basic foods you need, some not so basic, lots of vegetarian & vegan options, medicine, booze. BUT it is overpriced! Especially when you can walk 1 block further to Safeway, use your club card & pay 70% less. There is a CC minimum which often times posed a challenge for me (I never carry much $$ on me) & forced me to buy more. This left a bad taste in my mouth--almost as bad as the premade vegan burritos they sell.

26th & guerrero market reminds me of a miniature rainbow grocery. it has that hippie smell that is somewhat pleasing at first but then gets crusty after awhile. my mom would hate this place. on the other hand, i like it. 26th & guerrero market is clean, bright and well stocked. everything appears to be organic here........and that includes the very friendly hippie staff. overall, a fine neighborhood market.

I live close to 26th & Guerrero Market, Safeway and another corner store, but I go here most often. We call it the fancy store at home to differentiate it from the other options. And it is a fancy compared to your average corner store, while still stocking those corner store essential, like liquor and cigarettes. It also has a whole lot of good stuff, like organic produce and cheeses. It is a small store so it's not as big of a selection as Rainbow, however I can usually get everything I need. The staff is incredibly nice to top it off.

This used to be my market. I lived on the 1300 block of Guerrero and this was the closest market my non car having self would go to. Excellent selection. The wine, the produce, the vegan and veggie options. The candy. The fruit. The staff. Oh how I loved to bull shit with the employees. I live in the lower Haight now and have a cool market but nothing compares to this little gem.

I highly recommend this small corner grocery store. It's top quality. The fresh organic produce and grocery items are priced very reasonably. Great selection packed in a small space. I'd rather shop here when I can than the larger competitors. The employees are always friendly and helpful. I'm happy they're in my neighborhood.

Well, hey now. My favorite little corner store is on Yelp! Eeeexcellent. I can't emphasize enough how glorious it is to have a healthy option for shopping within a two-minute toddle of my squalid studio. My brand of vitamins! My brand of politics! My kind of people! Wine, wine, wine! This, plus a fabulous and most eclectic mix of music to serenade me while I peruse the frozen-food case. I love my little corner store even more than I love Barack Obama's ears. It's true! That's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

i cannot rave enough about this place. at first i didnt love it b.c it was a bit pricey and i can be a cheap bastard. but the people who work here are soooo nice. the woman on the weekends and days is like my second mom now, she loves us, knows us all by name, sometimes gives me a little chocolate. they have great food, gorgeous flowers, a great wine selection and offer great under 10- wines that are not gross like the corner stores around. beautiful produce, acme breads.
this is the kind of corner store that makes you love where you live. between the weekend beer runs, emergency lillet on warm days, sunday am bacon, dinner and a daily run here by all of my roomates and neighbors....i think we give them like 1/5 of our salaries. i go for little lindt chocolate balls daily. neat, clean, well laid out, easy to shop here. they even sell buckwheat crunchies made by the guy upstairs from me. such a great place. warm people, they help me promote my event i do down the street even. this place is great and for the first time in my life i live somewhere i feel a part of a community and know my neighbors.....and we all love this store! -

This is the best little market in the area. There is produce that is actually fresh. Cool organic pantry items. Some meats and fancy cheese. Good wine and the place is CLEAN. I have never seen such a clean store in my life. If you have ever been to corner stores in the nicer part of NYC then you will be reminded of home when you get to this market.

As corner stores go, this place can't be beat. For how small the shop is, they cram an amazing selection of (meticulously ordered) natural and organic frozen and packaged foods, wines, even some produce, meat and yummy baked goodies. One star off because I can't really afford to shop here regularly. Half a star back because it's so close to my house that I do it anyway.
