Review from Noom S.
Rowland Heights, CA
I've been to a lot of 24hrs and this one is pretty good. There's lots of space and most of the people there are there to workout not sit on their stupid phones during rush hour. No basketball court but has a swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Equipment is pretty consistent with most other 24hrs but they have a good number of swiss balls, bosu ball, and phone rollers for you to use. the place is clean and not confining. I like working out here.
Sometimes it's hard to find parking but if you just go closer to the jack in the box area which is really close there's usually plenty of parking. The front desk girls are cute too! And in general most of the people here are pretty good looking, girls and guys a like. Be careful though fellas as it's located right across from Upland HS so don't get caught up! haha -

This 24 hour fitness is just okay compared to some of the others I have been to. The sauna/steam room are icky! The classes are mediocre. I hope they can get better teachers soon.
One major point pro is the parking. I usually get a spot right away. Another pro is the kids club. I can bring my daughter while I work out. -

Update: Had to bump it down to 3 stars....
A lot of machines have wiggly pieces/broken pieces on them now.
And two of the weighted balls are broken, and no one knows when they'll be replaced.
Also, (and this part isn't the gyms fault) the big after-New-Years rush has started, so this place is packed pretty much all day and night (even at 11:30pm). It's frustrating to go in and find ALL the weight machines being used up.
The worst part is when they're being used by little punks who aren't even USING the machines. They just stand around them laughing/texting/talking to each other. Hey kids, Dennys is down the street, do your BSing there.
So I dunno if I'll keep my membership.... I can walk/run for free. I was using it for access to the equipment, but if it's never available, there's really no point.Listed in: These arent for chewin'!

This is a sport? Its big, yes, but the equipment is from old gyms. Not that great, a lot of broken ones, squeaky ones, and wobbly ones. I'll pass on going back here if I can avoid it.

Review from Taste M.

Wow what a shitty experience this evening. My gf and I moved here a couple of months back when I started grad school. We printed out the free 7-day passes for the Upland location. I needed a place to work out for the month school is out of session and she was looking for a regular gym.
Instead of just honoring the pass, we got the shitshow health club sales spiel from the staff. The kid at the desk had to 'call someone over' and then some other kid wanted to show us around.
The kid starts talking to me like I've never been in a gym before and got an attitude when I told him we didn't need the tour, that our decision was going to be made on the experience at the gym. Then he tries to spit out some bullshit about how I'm probably not serious about joining long term. Well, genius, if that is part of the criteria for using the pass then it should state as much.
News for the staff: I was going to take the 1-month option to bridge my school gym membership and my gf was going to join. She was actually pissed that I demanded we walk out but she understands the scam now. From the other review posted by Lauren I can see that my intuition about some heavy sales pitch bullshit was right on and just about to get started.
FWIW after I insisted we just wanted to use the pass, the brat kid who showed us around I heard him suggest to his manager that because we were from out of state (the 's' is in Illinois is silent, MORONS) he wasn't sure if we qualified for the 7-day trial.
That is when we walked out the door, it was clear that we weren't going to get to use the trial offer if we weren't going to let them chisel the fuck out of us.
Whatever. If you are thinking about joining a gym do not get sucked into their sales process. False advertising is bullshit and I feel great every time I shut down a punk sales pitch. -

The best 24 hour I've ever been to! I really appreciate the cleanliness!!! I always go late at night and I always see them DEEP cleaning! I love it! the layout is perfect and their machines are almost always in working order. They have such a huge variety of equipment and they're nice, not all worn out (like the pads on weight machines etc.) I love that the weights are accurate on the machines too. There's really no one there when I go but the desk guy is always great! THANK YOU for making my membership worth while and giving me a GREAT place to get fit!!!

I had a membership at my old gym but transferred my pass to Upland at no charge and when I was debating on canceling they dropped the monthly fee's. Girls locker room is tiny in comparison to my last gym and they could update the equipment. It smells like Body Odor when I walk in the front door. I've asked other people who go there and they don't seem to notice the BO. Maybe its just me.

No complaints here.
Of course every gym has it's flaws but you seriously can't appreciate a gym if you haven't been to the crappier ones I've been to in California.
Pros and its flaws that can't be changed:
Plenty of parking, even during peak times, however the lot can become very full especially when there's a game across the street at the high school.
Group X room: Plenty and with variety of classes. The instructors I've had are energetic and really into teaching their class. This group x room is on the smaller side and oddly shaped so if you do like to look at your form during class you should park yourself towards the front and more in the middle and left side.
This gym has lots and lots of cardio machines, plenty to choose from that work and don't have to wait or fight for a machine. However, They do only have a few stair masters...
Friendly workers: Super energetic and pretty genuine for you neighborhood 24
Cleanliness and Maintanance: Have no complaints, everything is clean and upkept. No busted machines (except the stairmaster's plastic handles are worn and peeling off)
Overall. I love the big windows and open spaces! I don't feel claustrophobic and it puts me in a good mood to have actual sunlight lighting up the gym instead of only the fluorescent lighting. -

been going to this gym since it opened, no major issues or complaints. I never have to wait for a cardio machine which is a plus. Lately very hard to find parking during peak hours (during the week after 5pm) that would be my major complaint. Weight machines are hard to use during peak hours as well. Sundays are the best days for weights since its pretty empty. every once in a while the sauna will go out of order and it takes them over a week to get it running again. Pretty clean considering they clean during business hours. I never use their showers or restrooms so i can't rate the cleanliness of that. you always need to sign up in advance for cycling classes, you'll never get a bike if you just show up. Zumba classes are always too packed in the evening. Best Zumba class is Friday mornings with James!

I just started going to this location after moving from North Fontana (Summit/Beech 24hr Fitness) and I definitely like this location much better! Obviously it's laid out a little different, with some different equipment that takes some getting used to..
All of the staff is super friendly and helpful; I have to ask for a medicine ball for my Russian Twists everyday and they don't even ask for my ID anymore! (I only bring car keys and music player so I greatly appreciate that fact)
I usually make it here in the late morning/early afternoon, and I never have trouble waiting for equipment, which is a HUGE pet peeve! I'm sure it gets busier around 6pm but that's any gym.
Everything is as clean as you would expect at a gym, and amazingly it SMELLS fresh too! (Every other gym I've been in REEKS of sweat) Basically I highly recommend 24 hour fitness, and this location if you're looking to start training or switch gyms! -
Review from Van D.
24 Hour Fitness is by far better than LA fitness!! and OBVIOUSLY better than Fitness 19!!
I got the 2 year-membership from Costco and I've been so damn happy lately with all of the endorphins from my workout :)
Before I bought my 2 year membership I was involved in a car accident so I had to stop my work out. And during this time, I felt like I really let myself go :( but I didn't want to over-do it and hurt myself while I'm still going to the chiropractor so I got the 3-session trial with Chelsea!! She is an amazing, kind, and patient person!! She'll help you with your goals, but she does it in a caring and compassionate way!! She didn't yell or scream or anything LOL!! If I afforded it, I would definitely have continued my sessions with her because I definitely saw progress in my workout.
I'm still continuing with the gyming stuff on my own and it's really nice going to this location!! The workers are always smiling and welcoming, the sports location has a variety and abundance of equipment, and it's CLEAN!!
It's so convenient, I can come whenever I want... even at 3am when im desperate to get in my workout or when I can't sleep :) -

Has the latest Precor elliptical models :). Relatively clean. I go late at night, and there are cleaning staff around 12 am and another round at 2 am. Or maybe it's just one long round. lol
Here's a secret: the third elliptical machine from the the right as well as the elliptical on the far left bypasses the club limit of 30 minutes. You can go 60 minutes!! How baller is that??? Hax.
lol, yes I've tried all the ellipticals at one point or the other, unless they've updated some machines, those two are it! -

I've been a member of 24 Hour for almost 7 years. I now pay $99/year, which is a steal. This 24 Hour Fitness is close to my parents home across the street from my old high school. It used to be a supermarket back then but now it's a gym. This location is a sport 24 Hour and offers sauna, pool, and jacuzzi. The cardio machines are plentiful. I was here this past Sunday and ran 8 miles on the treadmill. They offer a bunch of group classes like yoga, spin, and cardio kick-boxing. The locker room is clean and they utilize the fingerprint check-in so no need to bring your ID or membership card. Once your fingerprint is in the system, it's shared with all the locations.

I like 24hr because its close to my house , its open 24hrs, this location offers a kids gym, which I need for my kid. It's fairly clean equipment works and theres an abundance of most of the machine I like house so there isn't any waiting for the most part. I just don't like that you can't hook your headphone up to the machine like my old gym, so you can hear the TV's, instead you need a walkway radio, I don't have that anymore!
But all said and done this place works for me and my family. We get in, get it done and get out. But like all places it can be pricey, month membership and the option to go to any gym, comes at a price! -

This 24 hour on gets 3 stars because the people at the front desk are never on the same page with whats going on. They cant help you or do anything to your account without a manager who are rarely there.
However, I have a pretty great trainer Roshawn and the head fitness manager Jess is very professional and helped me with my needs. The gym is farely clean some of the equipment is newer then other equipment in the gym thats a bummer.... over all a good gym though.. -

This is the closest 24 to my house but I go more often to the Yorba Linda branch cause i work in that area.
This place is spacious and a good ventilation pretty new equipments and they have a pool (good for me cause i'm starting to get back in swimming and maybe try a triathlon). One thing i don't like are the mirrors they are freakin wavy!!! You'll be fat in one mirror next step you'll be thin put yourself in the middle and you'll look like IGOR or Quasimodo. I like that they got more sets of dumbells here too!!!
Things to remember is to avoid putting important belongings in the locker, while I was working out earlier I saw a lady complaining that she lost here wallet. -

I moved down here from Northern California a few months ago and the first thing I noticed about the gyms in the Upland area is that they aren't as nice as the ones i'm used to up north. However, the upland gym is definitely nicer and larger than the one in Montclair. This gym is pretty big. They have a large selection of Cardio machines but I feel like their weight machines are lacking...
I usually go to the gym to go to the classes they offer (mostly because I get more out of a workout in the classes as opposed to by myself) and the UPland gym doesn't offer a lot of the classes i like.. SO, I pretty much find myself going to the Montclair gym (even tho it's a lot smaller) just to go to their TKB, S.E.T, and step classes.
If you're looking for a big gym with lots of space and machines, then Upland is good for you.. if you're looking for a gym with a lot of good classes, I recommend the Montclair 24 hour fitness -

Pasadena, CA
As an auditor, I travel all over California and have been to many 24 Hour Fitness gyms, and can say this one of the better 24 Hour Fitnesses. What makes this 24 so much better than a lot of others I have been to, is that it never gets crowded here. It's very spacious and has tons of cardio machines and equipment. As others mentioned, parking is not an issue here.
If you're looking for a nice, clean gym with plenty of equipment and don't want to bump into people and wait around to use a machine, this is the gym for you. Now, only if this was the norm for 24 Hour Fitness gyms, but sadly, it's not. -
Review from Aaron G.
West Covina, CA
This 24 Hour Fitness location is pretty big as it used to be a supermarket. My wife and I have worked out here in the middle of the night and it's even less crowded than the club in Monrovia. There wasn't anyone at the front desk to scan our membership card when we arrived and nobody was there when we left either.
The machines are mostly newer, yet, the ellipticals are one generation older than those at Monrovia. This club has some really cool recumbent bikes with armrests and fans.
There is a huge lap pool. There's also a sauna that gets to 170+ degrees and a very hot steam room that was 105+ degrees.
The locker room was very nice with huge lockers and nice benches. There are two TV's in the men's locker room. There are plenty of mirrors with super bright lighting. The showers themselves are functional with one big problem; not one single shower had soap at the time I was there. Some showers had the soap dispenser broken off the wall and missing, and every other shower had broken dispensers with empty soap bottles attached to them.
I generally like this location but find it annoying that I need to bring my own soap. -

The ZUMBA class that is taught by Olga on Tuesdays from 630-730!
She has great energy and vibe! AND MOST importantly she has fun easy to follow ZUMBA routines!!!
If you like to dance and you like LATIN style dancing, she is the one to dance with.
She's my favorite instructor right now because she's doesn't use the Rancherio stuff.
I couldn't give this gym 5 stars because of the sauna and spa area. The dry sauna is okay. It gets too crowded and it smells. The wet sauna, PLEASE stay away from it. I smelled like urine!!!! The spa was not as hot.... I immediately use the shower after using the wet sauna and spa. I was disgusted........................
The equipment inside are okay. Not as new but it will do. -
Review from Ruth P.
Upland, CA
Compared to the other 24 Hour Fitness locations I've tried around the area, this is the best. I've always gotten on a machine right away, even in the crowded after-work period (except for January with the resolution people) and so I don't have someone hovering for me to get off (that's really annoying). The women's locker room is fine, but my husband reports that the men's locker room is not always in good condition. There is a VERY active swimmer's group in the am classes so that must be fun. Bring your IPod as the FM transmitters for the TV sets are often broken (yes, you need a radio to watch the news) and the TVs are not often closed-captioned.
WARNING: Be very careful when buying personal training from 24 Hour Fitness. I was very unhappy a few years ago with my experience, and I later met a former (within the last 3 years) personal trainer from another 24 HF location who admitted that the corporate certification is a joke so look for outside certification.
Loses one star for crappy TV sound broadcasting (I want to hear CNN) and my annoyance even these years later at the constant up sell attempts. -

I only frequent 24Hour in the late late night/early morning, but I do have to say that the Upland gym has a much better selection of equipment than other 24Hour gyms I've had the pleasure of using. The gym is quite new, and the facilities are very ample. The management does a pretty decent job of reorganizing weight plates--I think they get quite OCD around 3-4AM, because there's not much else to be doing and gym use slows to a trickle.
Plus, the fact there's a Jack-in-the-Box outside (also open 24 hours) is a DEFINITE plus. -

Fontana, CA
24 Hour Fitness is notorious for being over populated and dirty at many locations. This place is clean, it doesn't get too full during the evenings and is great in the mornings between 5AM and 7AM. I cannot speak for the time after that because I haven't had the chance to be there, but there are no complaints from me. I always find parking and the service is great.
I recommend the 5:30AM Monday spinning class. The instructor is great and you get out of the class fully energized and ready to start the week.
The weight training area is always clean and you're able to find certain sized weights that you are looking for. The only minor problem that I have found is that of some treadmills. I've found some treadmills having belt issues, but after reporting one, employees immediately put a sign on the machine and called for repair. The pool and sauna are in great condition and the locker/shower rooms - always cleaned and stocked.
Four stars for this one. -

Huge gym, plenty of equipment, pool, and plenty of parking.
One less star because of the usual pushy just-short-of-lieing salespeople you have to deal with for a 7-day pass.
Otherwise, very impressive gym -

Yesterday was my first time at this gym being I just moved to the area and I was impressed. I used to go to the one on central until they changed the hours to a non 24 hr gym. When I walked inside the gym was very open there was alot of space to walk around, the gym was also very clean and it did not smell like sweat. I went around 9pm and there wasn't that many people there which amazed because the gym is usually packed at that time. i was able to go from machine to machine without any wait time. I would recommend this gym for sure if you live near the area!!

I like this gym. I frequent several different 24's and this one has the nicest front desk employees ever! They greet you with a welcoming smile and that means everything to me. If I don't receive a greeting when I enter an establishment, I am instantly turned off, so I appreciate their warmth. I also find this one to be on the cleaner side.

Review from Lauren W.
Los Angeles, CA
I'm writing my review based on what happened to me tonight. Their website offers a free 7 day pass which says says try before you buy, no pressure, no strings attached. I went to the gym tonight to try to use the free 7 day pass then maybe buy a 90 day pass after that if I like it. I may not be living in the area later this year and I didn't want anything to automatically deduct from my bank account that I would have to cancel. I was given a tour of the gym and it is big, bright, kinda harsh on the eyes but whatever, it seemed like an average gym. When I sat down to redeem my free 7 day pass I was told by Janae that "most people who get the 7 day pass end up not making the commitment" and tried to get me to sign up for monthly dues today to prove that I'm making a commitment. What other people do is not my problem and I don't really care if they sign up or not. Then she said she would go ask her manager if I could use the 7 day pass, because I was a member over 10 years ago when I was a young teenager at another location. She said the free 7 day pass is only good for people who are guests or new members. Her manager Emre came out and he pressured me to sign up for the monthly membership and also told me I could not use the 7 day pass because I had been a member a long time ago. Then I told them I would prefer to just buy the 90 day pass and they said I should go down the street to Vons and get a prepaid debit card to use to sign up for monthly dues so I could get 4 months at the price of a 90 day pass. It was insane! Then he said "If you feel like I'm pressuring you let me know" and I said "Yeah, I do." Basically, they did not allow me to workout in their gym without paying them. I went home 20 minutes after arriving without working out or signing up for anything and my blood pressure higher than it had been when I got there. I came home and got online and looked at the fine print of the 7 day pass. It says it is not valid for people who have been a member within the last 6 months - not if they had EVER been a member in their lives. Then I went online with their live chat on their website and was told by a representative that as long as I hadn't been a member within the last 6 months, I can use the free 7 day pass. Basically I was pressured and lied to by the skeezy sales team when I just wanted to use their free 7 day pass with "no pressure, no strings attached" just like it says on their site, but I guess that's not possible. Really shitty experience and totally annoying. I had planned on buying the 90 day pass and then perhaps going to monthly after that depending on my living situation, but they didn't get a dime. Fuck them.

Think the coolest thing about this gym is that I can practically walk there. Very friendly staff and its pretty huge! The place used to be a super market back when I was a kid. The sauna and steam are my favs, you can always strike up a conversation with random people in there. The free weights are plenty as well as the treadmills, ellipticals, and stair masters.
