"Yay! I'm a fan." -but only of Robert Alvarez. If you're like me and this location is the most convenient location for you to work out and get on with your day, then get a membership but ask for Robert by name when you do so.

Everything you read about the gym is true: older, worn, crowded and it needs some TLC, but there are many reasons why a person joins a gym; and location and convenience is perhaps #1. So if this gym is "it" for you, then sign up with Robert and you will have nothing to worry about. Robert's customer service is extraordinary. He is dependable, friendly, helpful and actually: "Whoo-hoo, as good as it gets!" He follows through, and  follows up and you can rest assured that any problems that come along with be resolved. (which from experience, I cannot say is true for everyone at 24 HR fitness.)

We have been a part of this gym for over 5 years and he is the only person I have found I can trust. In fact, if he ever leaves this location, I would probably quit just to save myself the headache of having to deal with anyone else.

This is an old, tired, worn out facility.
The parking is horrible, bathrooms filthy, hardly are the weights returned to the proper place. The lighting is dim and floors are dirty.

I joined years ago before they opened this facility, shame on 24 for letting it decay.

I travel to other areas and see beautiful 24's why is this gym ignored.
They have friendly staff and patrons who deserve far better.

Has the health dept ever inspected this place?

Remember the crystal palace of Thoth-Amon from Conan the Destroyer? Well that was my first impression when I walked into this place. The mirrors in the machine/ab area completely mesmerized me for a few moments on my way to the locker room, and I wouldn't have been surprised if some monster crashed out from one of them to attack me. Fortunately for your hero, that did not happen.

Extraneous mirrors aside, this place reminds me of a lot of the older (pre-renovation) 24 Hour Fitness clubs I've been to. I don't have a problem with the age of a club except when it's really obvious that it's becoming impossible to keep the bathrooms clean. I'm hopeful that there's a renovation in this club's future, given that this place looks a lot like the one in Santa Monica that was renovated last year. The upside here is that it'll probably become a "Super Sport" club, so if you've been using it, you'll probably be grandfathered into it, even if you only have a "Sport" all-club membership. The downside? Renovations would require the club to close for a few months.

Okay, enough rambling. Here's the good, bad and ugly:
    Good
    - Pretty easy to find a cardio machine, though you might have to settle for anything at peak hours (Mon/Tue/Wed; after work)
    - Kid's area makes me wish I was a kid again
    - Lots of cardio and ab machines
    - Free parking!
    - Lots of amenities: pool, full-sized basketball court, spinning room, classes

    Bad
    - Too many kids at peak hours (this happens just about everywhere)
    - Too many of the machines are cheap versions of equipment I've found at other clubs
    - Parking lot gets full at peak hours
    - Parking lot in front is not lit very well

    Ugly
    - Can't get time on the basketball court during peak hours
    - Bathroom is disgusting (losing an up-hill battle)
    - Cardio machines don't get fixed very often (might need replacing)

i went there for a trial and this guy wearing sunglasses inside and an army drill sergeant outfit with high shorts and a weight belt was rude to me. He said I was in the way because I was doing push ups on the gym floor. I complained to the staff and they shrugged it off and said that he is here all the time and is kinda an asshole. Well then kick him out.

I've been going to 24 Hours for years but recently started going to this one in Thousand Oaks. By going here right after work, I'm able to avoid the rush hour 101 traffic to Woodland Hills.

I like this gym. Staff is great and have smiles all the time.  I'm a basketball freak so when I saw the basketball court, I couldn't resist and still can't after a week.  I've been playing pickup games instead of weight lifting. It's been a while since I played bball so being able to find a nice indoor court and play some games is awesome.  I'll hit weight lifting after I get a bit tired of basketball.

Parking can be difficult to find in the evening, but if you wait patiently for few minutes, you'll find one.  Other than that, this gym is great.

It's small, the equipment is on top of each other, many cardio machines are broken and the place hasn't been upgraded in at least 5 years. I go when I am staying with family in the area but  I wouldn't sign up if I lived in the area and this was the only gym I would go to.

Too crowed with people and the equipment is too close together to even be safe.  But if you get a great price and can come in when the crowds are light it's worth a look.

I know people who live closer to this gym but drive an extra 15 -20 minutes to the 24 hour fitness on Madera Road instead.

I've been a member for over 5 years and I'm glad my work has a gym since I moved out here because this has got to be an incubator for the next plague.

I know a gym should smell like sweat and BO, but seriously, when should a gym smell like urine? The men's restroom is a nightmare and the pool outside is poorly lit. If you want to swim at night, you might want to consider putting a light at the end so you don't knock yourself out by swimming into the wall.

The layout is a bit strange, but after two attempts, I won't go back there. Not even for a shower if I'm drenched with sweat and about to have dinner with Natalie Portman. I'd have better luck not contracting a disease barebacking a prostitute in TJ than stepping foot in the men's locker room.

24 hour sport? You're better off driving to simi valley and using the andre aggassi sport there.

If we all can remember a gym is a gym.. Most go to work out. Equipment breaks down everywhere, and when you frequent this one keep in mind it's older. ( I agree it does need a facelift)
Ok with that said, I have to say the staff and the kids club staff is amazing! If it weren't for the warm smiles I receive I'm not sure i would continue.  Thank you always for making me feel comfortable leaving my babies to work on myself!

If it's after 3:30, don't bother.  It's way too crowded with teenagers.  I was a member before it even opened (about 12 years ago) and it has gotten more and more crowded ever since.  Most of the equipment is still the same except for the T.V.s that they finally recently updated.  I have since joined another gym and the only reason I keep my membership at 24 Hr is because it costs me $24 a year.

This place makes me feel like I'm walking into a Black Angus building.

The layout is a bit strange but they have plenty of cardio machines and good amount of machines and core fitness stuff (like yoga and medicine balls) but they seemed short on the free weights.

Locker room is fairly spacious. The stretching area is a bit weird because it intersects with so many parts of the gym that it's hard to stretch w/o a lot of people milling about. Also, the stretching area is underneath the class room. So when people in the class ran or jumped... I could see and feel the ceiling shake. O.o

What I disliked the most was that there were only 2 channels broadcasting. So it was either watching a really depressing story (sorry, there is good to those stories, but when I working out.. I need better stimulus!) or the CA governor debate - I choose the latter.

But otherwise, good gym. Lots of parking too.

Compared to my current 24 Hour Fitness this place would be at 2 stars. I have been coming to this gym since I was in college and that was way long ago for me. There are some things about this gym that need improvement.

    Needs Improvement:
Elliptical and Cross trainers - Most of these machines are broken at any given time. In one week I had to complain about three machines and they stay broken for a week to two weeks at a time.

Cleaning - They provide spray and paper towels but I rarely seen any cleaning person wiping stuff down.

Air flow/Conditioner - It always seems really stuffy and sweaty in there. There are brief moments when you can catch a breeze but not much.

Amount of Equipment - The wait times during peak hours is RIDICULOUS. I have had to wait 20 minutes or longer to get on a machine. There is supposed to be a time limit on machines during peak hours but no one adheres to that and management doesn't care.

Parking - This place needs more parking over all. It isn't that they don't have parking they just have  A LOT of members. You know parking is bad when you would rather just park at home and walk the three miles to the gym. However, by that time you wonder what the point is.

    Overall:
I do not miss this gym one bit. My Super Sport 24 hour fitness provides towels, has a moderately heated pool, clean EVERYTHING, and I don't have to wait an extra 30 minutes to get on equipment.

I totally sold out.  I am a paying member of a smaller and more intimate women's gym, where everyone is friendly and like family.

then i bought a place 5 miles north of that gym and just a hop, skip and a jump away is the huge 24 hour fitness "sport" (so it has the pool, the basketball courts, the sauna/steam room) etc.

from the first day i closed escrow i've received piles of offers to join and i resisted...then one fine day at work we got an email that said 24 hour fitness in collaboration with our benefits package is offering free membership.

bye-bye small gym :( and hello monstrosity gym.

it's crowded, it doesn't have the cleanest locker rooms - it's your typical gym, the kind that chandler and ross tried "quitting" on Friends.

it's just too convenient for me not to go.  i have definitely taken advantage of it's convenience and this particular 24 hour has great fitness classes.

i do the yoga and 24-hr lift, which is a weight lifting class, spin and lap swimming.

i hate admitting it, but being a "Globo-gym" member (ref. Dodgeball) is definitely kicking my quarter-century ass into tip top shape.  woo hoo!

I am a member here and have been for two years.  When my contract is up, I am out of there.

The place is dirty, staff is friendly, the classes they offer are VERY limited and not good.  Thankfully they added Bobby's Bootcamp, which is great.  That's the only reason I'd stay there because I feel the other classes (expect Spin) are geared towards older women.

Be careful- a co-worker's husband got ring worm from using the matts there.  The place is NASTY!

I'm dying to go into the disgusting details of what I have discovered in the women's locker room, but out of respect that one of you may be reading this on your lunch break, I won't.  Needless to say, this is not the cleanest gym.

I go during lunchtime and the treadmills fill up pretty quickly.  The equipment is generally good- not old and it's well maintained.

I have been a member of 24 Hour Fitness for a month. One thing I think a lot of reviewers are forgetting is that this place is a gym. Unless you go to an all women's gym, you are going to find the yucky guys who try to show off and pick you up. Personally, it doesn't bug me. I usually just laugh them off. I have also been seeing a personal trainer. She is great and has helped me loose 10 lbs in a month (please note that I have a lapband. Don't expect this kind of loss in a single month with just diet and exercise alone). The locker rooms also seem pretty clean.

The only negative is that I can't purchase individual sessions with a trainer. I always have to buy them in a set of 5 or 10. Also it is not always easy to find a parking space, but oh well.

This 24-hour has the cleaner of the two that I frequent, although Simi Valley Agassi tops them both.

I especially like the steam room, Jacuzzi and Sauna. The large, and I do mean large, locker room is nice, with full length lockers. This one's close to work, so I use this one every other day for cardio(Elliptical/Bikes) and of course my recovery(Steam Room/Jacuzzi).

Ok so it may not be a small, personalized local gym but it gets the job done.  I can go anytime I want, they have tanning booths, they have a large selection of cardio equipment, they have the weights I need, everyone I've encountered that works there is pleasant and if you hire a trainer, you'll really see results.  Bobbie K. is my trainer and she's awesome!  She'll kick your butt and you may hate her at the time but you'll thank her for it later.

One thing I really hate is the parking.  When I first joined I thought, "wow this is great that have lots in front, on the side and in back!"  Guess what, if you go at 5:30 PM on a week day, you'll drive around until you find someone who's leaving.  I try to avoid the after-work rush but my Tuesday training time doesn't allow for that.

This gym is alright.  The main problem I have with it is that so many cardio machines are always broken!! the last week ive gone multiple times and there has been at least 5-7 treadmills broken as well as 3-5 ellipticals so it is hard to get on a machine without waiting for one.

I've found yelp so useful when I'm traveling on Business it is time to start giving back. Before I tackle food I'll start with my visits to 24 hour fitnesses. One caveat is that I only lift at the gym and I'm mainly here to say whether not it was clean and well organized. Here's my scale so you know what my star rating means:

***** Very Clean, Well Organized, Has all the equipment I need (Adequate squat racks and dumbbells that go up to 120)
**** Somewhat clean, Somewhat Organized, Equipment is Adequate but could use some attention or minor repairs.
*** Barely clean, A bit scattered, Equipment is Adequate (meaning there is enough of it) but could use some significant attention or repairs.
** Not Clean, Not Organized, Inadequate equipment
    * Disgusting and Equipment is in complete disarray

The facility has poor lighting, which in effect, dampens your workout. No one likes to work out in poor lighting.  The bathrooms/locker rooms are absolutely disgusting.  I've never seen it cleaned or be clean. There is always someone cleaning the large mirrors in the weight room, but I never have seen anyone clean the machines.  There is always sweat on the machines and it is absolutely repulsive. I feel like I'm going to catch a virus touching the dirty equipment.

The only reason I gave it two stars is because there are a lot of cardio machines. However, the treadmills are often being used.  They have a pretty cheap membership fee, but you get what you pay for. I'd rather pay more and get a good work out experience in a clean, well-light facility.

Ugh, where to start... the monthly membership fits into everyone's budget, however you get what you pay for....

Overcrowded inside and it takes 20 minutes to find parking (and you have to be sneaky and beat the other 10 people that are trying to park).

Very dirty. I CANNOT STAND the women's bathroom. I REFUSE to pee there. God knows the last time the bathrooms were cleaned. When you flush the toilets they come spraying up in your face or don't flush at all. Air circulation is pretty much non-existant. AC is very low. It gets way too stuffy.

Classes are limited and are at inconvenient times for people who don't get off of work until 5.

The staff is friendly and everyone is very open to sharing the equipment and taking turns. There are a decent number of elypticals. That is about the only plus.

24 hour fitness is a huge franchise. You'd think that they make enough money with all these memberships to help keep the bathrooms clean and the AC systems working at the very least.

I'm a migrate from the 24hr Arc-Lite in Hollywood. I have a lifetime membership @ $24.00 a year. I bought this about 18-20 yrs ago, when 24 was called Sports Connection (I know, I'm dating myself). With now living here in the West Lake area, it only makes sense, to hit this Gym. But as others say, it needs to be updated, big time. Overall, it has all that I need, but the outside needs to be brought in, to give it more life. And to clean this place with a ultra-blue light too. The team (staff) there is great, but , but the corporation, needs to step up to the plate now.

I had a membership here for probably a year or so.  I enjoyed attending all the free classes (my favorites were the spin class and the yoga class) and some of the machines but it was just too large, all the classes were full.  It wasn't worth it anymore and to add to it the location isn't that far but down on TO Blvd it always takes a lot longer to get there, parking is kinda bad in the peak hours.  Do a 2 week trial first to see if you like it.

This was my location of choice when I was younger. It was convenient to my gym partner's house and my own. It was located near all the other things we wanted to do. It was new, and the people that frequented it were my age. Now I am old, and they are still all very young. Looking back, I realize the staff was never super friendly at this location, and the low ceilings I still find very weird. For a Sport gym, it feels small and cramped. I have trouble getting on the machines I need or want to get on, and navigating through the gym feels like I am navigating through a maze. There is never room to do ab exercises, which is frustrating, but overall, the gym feels clean enough, and there isn't really anything wrong with it. The parking is often full, but there really is plenty of it. It has a pool and spa, which is nice. It is in a good location, and it has some interesting machines if they aren't being used. I generally won't jump to going to this gym, but it is nice to have as an option.

I have been a member here since it opened and I loved it at first, but the cardio equipment is starting to fall apart.  There is always at least 3 or 4 broken cardio machines at any given time.  It always smells like sweat in there and it is always PACKED at peak "meat market" hours.  Good luck finding parking at the beginning of the year when everyone decides that working out for a month will make them skinny for the rest of the year.  On a happier note, all of the employees are nice and it is centrally located on TO Blvd near the Toyota dealership.

This is probably one of the oldest looking 24 hour fitness locations that I have been to.  Lighting was not very bright and it had an old feel to it. Not too much space between equipment and it was way too small overall for how busy it gets.  Not sure why they don't make some upgrades.  Feels claustrophobic at times! If it just had more room, then I might suck in some of the gripe I have about it haha. It gets the job done when you need a gym.  I've been spoiled by the Chino Hills, Industry, Alta Dena, and Glendora 24 locations!

I have been going to this gym since July.  It seems to be a typical gym.  The equipment seems fine and it is busy during the evening hours as to be expected.  Yoga on Wednesday nights with Corey is exceptional for any standards let alone gym yoga.  That class is definitely the best part of the whole place.

The troublesome part is the just downright dirty conditions.  The women's locker room is foul.  I called the manager to let him know that things are just not being cleaned and he seemed concerned and asked me to call back in a week to see if there was any improvement.  I waited 10 days and he had no time for me by then and nothing had changed.  The dustbunnies are still in the same corners of the place, smudges all over the same lockers, the floor looks like it has never been thoroughly cleaned, other 'things' smeared on flat surfaces, etc.  Gross.

The steamroom is a feature I was really excited about until I went into it.  The limescale is so thick it is chipping off of the lights (oh and by the way, limescale removal is supposedly part of the cleaning service's contract according to the manager).  There is tons of trash in there - water bottles, gatorade bottles, etc.  And based on the lack of cleanliness elsewhere in the place, I wonder if the tile is even sanitary.

Truly unfortunate.  Corey's yoga class gives this place the boosted rating.  The unsanitary conditions of the facility is unacceptable.  It is too bad that management does not care either.

My experience with this gym has been positive for the most part. Whenever I go, there are always cardio machines available, never ever really needed to wait in line. I love their weights section because it has everything I need! I would say that the layout is a little confusing though, some of the weight machines seem to weave in and out with the cardio equipment, but I like that this gym doesn't smell, even with the layout feeling a bit crowded. I have read reviews about this place not being clean, and honestly, I've never seen that happening and I have been going pretty regularly these days. The women's locker is spacious and a little dated, but I've seen worse, so I can't complain. Love the jacuzzi area, although I'd suggest some kind of music should be playing so it's not so awkward with the silence when there are people hanging out, haha! I don't give this 5 stars because it's not THAT stellar, and sometimes parking can be a pain, so I took away one more star for that. I love this gym, good price (get it at Costco!), good deal, pretty clean, gets the job done :)

This place has the freakiest sauna peeps ever.  In the past three times, I've been regaled with tales of one man's religious hallucinations (he told me he levitated on a mountaintop - literally - and saw metal and LED light-flashing angels while his wife sat quietly with her head down), two me arguing passionately (in a friggin HOT SAUNA) about unions, and a couple old lech types looking to connect with the shy asian girls just trying to enjoy the heat.  This isn't to say them gym isn't decent, because it totally is.  It has everything I need to get my gym on, including some nice elliptical machines, ab machines galore (like four different types that I could count), and medicine balls and those big bouncy balls.  It isn't amazingly well-kept, but in the gym's defense the place gets PACKED after work hours.  I come here when I'm in the area visiting the family and I'll keep coming back because I'm not unhappy with it.

This gym is a good workout for using the machines (cardio and weights).  My favorite class is Yoga with Corey - she's the best!

This place is terrible, save your money.  Long lines for machines, have to be there an hour early to get a spot for the spinning class.  Many crowded classes.  Go to another Gym!!!!!!!! Warning!!!!! Just like throwing your money away.  Your better off paying more and getting value.
