I have been going to this location since it opened. It's closer to my place than the Sugar House gym, and it's still the only gym in the downtown area that is open 24 hours.
I usually go later in the evening. There are never any crowds after 8:00 pm. There is plenty of parking after regular business hours, including covered stalls. It's not nearly as big as the other 24 Hour Fitness locations around the valley. There is no pool, basketball court, hot tub or steam room, but if you're looking to do some cardio or weights and get out quickly, you'll rarely deal with the kind of crowds you'll run into at the other 24-hour locations.
My two main complaints are with the maintenance of the treadmills and the TV options. I'm a bigger guy, and it seems that the belts are frequently loose on a number of treadmills. I can usually switch to another machine, if I feel one slipping, but that breaks up my routine. The TVs in the cardio area could also be better. They're often turned off and the channel selection seems to be limited.
If you live in the Downtown / University / Avenues / Trolley area, and you need a gym with convenient hours and plenty of weights and cardio machines, there isn't a better place than this. -

This is the gym I used to go to everyday until I moved from Salt Lake. I found that if you go early in the morning around 5:30 - 6:30 there really isn't a large crowd. Also if you go later on in the evening it tends to not be as busy, after 9. The gym does have peak hours when you will find it crowded and hard to get on a machine, so it is wise to plan around this.
I don't usually do any of the classes but I have heard from those who have attended that they can be fun and challenging. -

This is my gym. I've been going here for over a year now, so I might as well review it.
It's, well, gymtastic. I chose it because it is mere blocks from my house, so I can quickly walk or bike to it when the weather doesn't suck (and not feel like a dork for driving my car somewhere so I can workout). The parking garage you have to use does kind of suck, but that's because it's a parking garage.
They have a generous amount of treadmills and elliptical machines and such, and they are well maintained. I've never seen one sit broken for more than a day or so. I've never had to wait for a machine either, even during busy afternoons. There's also enough weights and machines and such that I can get my workouts in without delay.
I was going to a personal trainer here for awhile during the first part of last year, and really liked her and the results I got. I did not, however, like spending all that money, so I stopped using a personal trainer after she got a job elsewhere. The current trainers are probably quality as well.
This place doesn't have a pool, and sort of sport courts, or a sauna or anything, and the rates are a bit expensive if you consider that. However, your membership does give you access to the one in Sugarhouse if you need to use that stuff. And I'm a shift worker, so I'll pay a bit extra for a place that's open any weird time that I want to work out.
So, yeah, it works for me. -

Great classes, pretty nice facility, and great location. It is good for kids, because they have a kids club where they can play while you work out.

This is a pretty good gym. The classes are really good and the teachers know what they're doing. Sometimes you have to reserve in advance for spin, but the other classes don't get too filled up. It's great for a workout any time of day.

This is my favorite 24 Hour Fitness in the country. Friendly staff, tons of room, truly great trainers, and it's never too crowded, even after work.
Most gyms have crazily buff trainers who sell you on supplements and think they're the best thing since sliced bread. Yes, most 24 Hour Fitnesses, too. Not here. The trainers are in great shape, of course, but they're down to earth, friendly, and motivational. I had a trainer here 5x/week for a year and was simply in rocking shape. (If he's still there, signup with Tyler K. You'll never regret it.)
I now judge a gym by their number of StairMasters (*not* Stair Steppers), and this one has four, which makes it really stand out. There are plenty of TVs to watch while on various equipment, and most people appear to be at the gym to, you know, work out, not to walk on a treadmill and look cute. Nice. -

I've found yelp so useful when I'm traveling on Business it is time to start giving back. Before I tackle food I'll start with my visits to varoius 24 hour fitnesses. One caveat is that I only lift at the gym and I'm mainly here to say whether not it was clean and well organized. Here's my scale so you know what my star rating means:
***** Very Clean, Well Organized, Has all the equipment I need (Adequate squat racks and dumbbells that go up to 120)
**** Somewhat clean, Somewhat Organized, Equipment is Adequate but could use some attention or minor repairs.
*** Barely clean, A bit scattered, Equipment is Adequate (meaning there is enough of it) but could use some significant attention or repairs.
** Not Clean, Not Organized, Inadequate equipment
* Disgusting and Equipment is in complete disarray -

Just started at this location. Easy to get on machines. Wish they had a pool, steam room and basketball, but for a quick work out it fits the need.

Straightforward gym. Mostly guys, mostly hot. Never gets too crowded. Good mix of young professionals, business travelers and locals. The locker room gets a bit cruisy, but hey, it's a gym. The front desk staff are very nice...always friendly.
