I foolishly paid for a lifetime membership so I'm pretty much stuck here.  No one picks up weights and there's always a couple of tread machines out.  In the past I've called the customer service line to complain about the lack of mats and have been promised a call back.  No one ever responds.  I finally had to get Call 3 involved and only then I got someone's attention.

I hate that the staff is there primarily to send memberships.  They spend their slow time yakking it up. Why not get them out there to put the weights away?

Women's bathrooms are not very clean-- paper is strewn all over.  They removed the full-size mirrors in the dressing rooms -- tough to get dressed without one.

Elk Grove 24 Hour

Went here a few times during the summer when I had spent a little too much time up north. This branch is pretty good. All I ever used there were the weights so that's all I can comment on. One thing I do remember was that during the summer up there it's HOT like a mofo. So when I go - again I go during the off hours (it must have been a little past midnight). I go in thinking that no one else is there....and it must have been almost wall to wall people.

It wasn't that bad - not as packed as it had initially looked. I went in and did my thing and (this has never happened to me before) this guy comes up to me and ask me about my tattoo. I was taken aback by the question initially because I had just gotten them recently  but recovered and explained to him what it was - my last name in Filipino Script (babayin but most people think it's alibata).
He then asked "what's your last name?"
I tell him...
He looks at me astonished and says "Me too!"
"You f*ck'n with me?"
"No - seriously!"
He then asked if it would be cool to copy the script for his own ink purposes...and I figure what would the harm be if it's his last name too. After all I had heard stories around the dinner table that I have an entire other family rockin' my last name too. Go figure that I would run into one of them up here.

Best GYM I have ever joined. Big bldg. and lots of equipments for everybody. Clean and friendly staff. Big locker room and lots of parking space. It is also the BEST and BIGGEST 24 Hr. gym in Sacramento.

I have very few fond memories of this gym.

First off, the pool: it's horrible. Granted, it's an indoor lap pool (which is fairly rare to come by in Sacramento for recreational lap swimming use)... It has NO gutters, and the water circulates and filters poorly. So poorly, in fact, that after awhile, you simply WANT to leave because you can't help but notice all the "fresh" (and not fresh) spots where the urine settles after several swimmers have taken their turns peeing in the pool. To make matters worse, swimmers here have poor-to-nonexistant pool etiquette... and every once in awhile you'll find a super-creepy person (who's lounging in the little hot spa in the same room) staring so intently at you that you find yourself fearing for your life when you walk back to your car after a workout.

Amazingly, you'll find this gym very full at midnight. The bad thing about this is the fact that this means the gym is way too full during the day. It's impossible to get good machines during normal working hours. Good luck on finding an elliptical or treadmill in the afternoon.

Furthermore, many (possibly even MOST) people come to this gym more to be seen than to work out... it makes working out extra frustrating because a lot of the people are too busy engaging themselves in flirtatious conversation... and these people tend to be the people who are using the machines that you want to use. Granted, one can be an optimist and look at this problem in a positive light: it's amusing whenever you see these people stop to admire themselves in the gym mirrors.

The saving grace that earned this gym 2 stars instead of 1 is the spinning class. The lady who taught it was wonderful. She was very helpful, and she never failed at running a good workout.

I use to go to this gym with a friend of mine (giving him moral support) and have never had an issue with finding a machine.  This gym is twice the size of the downtown location (the one I usually go to) and it was packed.  I mean, literally, like sardines.

The crowd here is mainly young and fit.  I felt fat just walking in......plus vibes of meat market waves coming at me.  Good thing my friend is 6'4" and a mean-ass Italian.

I utilized the elliptical machine while he jumped on the treadmill.  Machines are plentiful on a weekday, but funny, packed on a Friday night.

Not a bad place, but I'll stick to downtown.

Face it, exercise needs to be a part of life so if you must do it, it should be as much fun as possible. I've been a 24Hour member for about five years and must admit I haven't always enjoyed it-until I started taking TurboKick. It's an aerobic kickboxing class similar to Tae-bo but like ten times better! The instructors are great, the music gets you motivated, and it's an entertaining way to burn about 1000 calories without the feeling of drudgery you might get from running on a treadmill and looking at Sportscenter for an hour. The Laguna club has classes on Mondays at 6, Wednesdays at 7, and Saturday mornings at 9:30. If you're a member, try it out!

Large Sports location... With basketball court, swimming pool, spas, and etc... Sometimes, the water in the pool is a little bit dirty and nasty!
