Of all the 24 Hour Fitness I've been to in Phoenix (this, Camelback and Bell Rd), this gym is the cleanest and with better equipment.

Camelback location is a rat hole. It's  dirty, stinky, and frequented by sweaty meatheads who doesn't rerack weights and plates. Worst of all, my locker was broken into and money stolen.

The Bell Rd location is better than Camelback, however not as clean as the Metro Parkway location.

Nice clean gym, too many college kids. Still looking for the right place. The BB court is owned by thugs.

This location is like the best kept secret.  Although the area is a bit ghetto, this gym is in great condition, clean, patrons who have gym etiquette and a solid range of equipment.  Whenever I need to be on this side of town, I pack a gym bag.
If I were to give any criticism it would be that there's not a lot of natural light/windows towards the back of weight room area but otherwise, this place is excellent.

Still a fan of this 24-Hour. The temperature has improved, though it does seem like they take a long time to get things fixed (a TV, hole in the ceiling and the currently broken front door, for example...) But, they DO get fixed.

I have been enjoying Marcy's Tuesday night Body Pump class. The only draw back is that there is a Spin class immediately after and when the bikes are getting dragged into position while you're trying to pick up your Body Pump equipment it gets a little rough.

This location is a true 24 hour fitness, which is nice. But it is a long drive from my downtown Phoenix home. I choose this one over the Camelback one sometimes, if I have to be up NW.

The gym seems fairly new, and it is rarely crowded. They are just one story, which I prefer. The classes are mostly pretty good. I have gone to the morning and weekend classes, and most of the time the instructors do a great job, except for the yoga classes. I prefer yoga classes with a true yogi.  The shower area is a bit larger than other 24 Hours I've been to, and the locker room is a lot nicer than most.

The instructors are semi-friendly (not that much though), and depending on the front desk staff...they are sometimes indifferent and sometimes mildly friendly. The manager is definitely not too excited to be working there.

I have a membership since I had purchased a 3-year deal in Texas, so I got a great membership deal back then.

Pretty good gym but nothing special.  I travel all around the country and this wasn't exactly the crem de la crem.  Nothing bad at all though.  Everyone seems to pick up after themselves and pretty cool with each other.

The eye candy is at a bare minimum too.  I didn't see but maybe one female that was in decent shape.  I think all of the members that are good looking take the zumba classes.

The equipment there is a little more up to date which makes it nice. The cardio machines are in great shape and the universal and free weights all are up to date.

Certainly better than the one on Camelback road or anywhere else in Phoenix

Agreed when I finally do go to the gym, I am so happy I belong to this club. Very clean still, ample ample parking, you can park and not get a door ding. The usual obligatory trainers are there torturing people with exercises they will never do on their own-Ever! Nice equipment, not very many gangster thugs there and if they do go they likes da play da hoops dawg in the Court!

Lockers and bathroom nice. Yeah, so far so good.

    Update: July 2010.

Its OK, front counter help, pretty much no personality, vacant ASU kids. Look pretty inconvenienced if asked for ANYTHING, unless you are interested in new membership.

So far I have seen the staff (including some trainers) eating there: Cold Stone Creamery, Samaria Sam's, Subway, Wendy's, Pizza, and Chipotle. Come on, eat that stuff in back in a employee lounge, shouldn't they be eating a bit healthier????

    Not great example.

Also, towel service would be nice even for a fee, and a smoothie bar would be great.

    I guess its just OK.

    Update 4/28/2011

Honestly if there was a nicer gym near by with some amenities I would go there in a heartbeat. No towel service, bathrooms are really dirty on the weekend, and the only time you can really get any help is if you are interested in a new gym membership. Still go but down grade to two stars. I would gladly pay more to go to a nicer gym. Let me know if something nicer opens up in this area.

    Update 5/9/2011

I am thoroughly convinced that they will only help you if you are a pretty young girl or looking to start a membership or personal training. Bathrooms totally filthy on the weekend.  When I first joined, they used to really keep gym and bathrooms clean Yikes!

Please someone, open a nice gym by me, please so I can go there.  Cardio machines have no COOL graphics to motivate.

Grim Update:  June 15, 2011: Same piece of gum on my favorite elliptical machine, it is at the right base.  Been there 10 days.  Should I say something?  Heard gym worker give tour of bathroom to a potential new member say this on 3 different occasions.  "Well this is the Men's locker room, seen one, seen them all."

Yikes, wow now that's pride in your men's locker room, glad this dufus doesn't work for me, a swift kick in the pants, and out the door to the soup line for him.

Are you one who likes the smell of a brand new car? How about the smell, or in this case, lack of smell, of a brand new gym? Now, for a limited time, a completely unsullied 24 Hour Fitness, at the MetroCenter, of all places.

At its current new state (it's been open for a week), this 24 Hour is in much better condition than the one on Camelback. No surprise there - everything inside here is brand spanking new.

    The details:

    * In contrast to other 24 Hours in the Valley, this one actually will remain open 24/7 (versus closing at night on the weekends). The guy at the front desk said this is due to how this location is zoned vs the other ones.

    * The cardio area is equipped with 11 flatscreen TVs hanging from the ceiling, with one even tuned into soccer-centric GolTV (which means one less tuned to all those talking heads on brainless cable news stations - bonus).

    * The adjoining weight area is larger than the Camelback location and currently has all its dumbbells in place on the correct shelves, and all its weight machines are working. No new types of machines, though (this is a 24 Hour Fitness after all) but still all the standards, plus four flat benches and four incline benches.

    * Full basketball court (which could also be split into two half-sized courts). Camelback lacks this.

    * Large stretch/ab area which also includes some contraption straight out of Tron/Blade Runner. I stood there and looked at all the diagrams, acknowledged that it must be useful, and walked away.

    * Standard group X classroom, childcare

    * A spotless pool area. If you've been to many 24 Hour Fitness, you'll know that this is a hugely appreciated factor. I anticipate it's not going to remain spotless for long, but doing laps in a crystal clear pool was awesome. No dankness here (yet).

    * Spotless lockerroom with wood-paneled lockers and branded Dial Ultimate Clean hair & body wash. I'm assuming the women's lockerroom has their own corporate soap sponsor (I find all this a little odd, but go figure).  But beyond soap, there's some contraption called SuitMate which is like a salad spinner for your swim trunks. Just throw your trunks inside it, press down, and in 30 seconds your trunks are water-free. How awesome is that?

    * Is going here after work safe for your car, you ask? Well, when I left the gym two hours later at around 9:45 pm, my car was still there in the parking lot, untouched. Seems like the MetroCenter is full of surprises.

    * All in all, a great gym that I'm sure will be a welcome addition to the area. However, it still rates 4 stars since:

    A) Although all the equipment is brand new and the latest edition of everything, there is fitness equipment at other gym chains that this one is lacking.

    B) I'm anticipating what the gym will be like in 6 months. If it manages to stay as clean as it is now by that time, maybe a 5th star will be in order.

After indulging in my three course meal last night for Yelp Eats, I'm reminded again to do my penance at the gym.
I've been a member for about 6 months, and it's all been great.  The equipment is clean and new.  They have a decent selection of TV shows that I can watch to try and distract myself from the sweat dripping into my eyes.  They have one group fitness room and a good selection of classes.  They post the group schedule online so you can plan accordingly.
There are people of all shapes, sizes and fitness levels.
Also, if you buy your membership from Costco, it's a pretty unbeatable deal.

Almost a year later and Mr. K's review's still correct.  The gym's still "unsullied" and looking "brand spanking new."

I go there whenever I'm in town visiting family.  It's never crowded.  Even when there's a fair number of cars in the lot, you can usually find a spot really close to the door (for the safety conscious, lazy, or don't-like-the-heat types).

The place is cavernous with tons of equipment, so you never have to wait long for a weight machine, if at all, and you never have to wait for an elliptirunner.  I've gone there at times during the day and had the entire pool to myself.

The TV screens all work though sometimes many are tuned to the same channel.  I'm sure staff would change that if I was willing to get off the machine long enough to go ask.

There aren't a ton of classes.  Some yoga, some aqua , some of the standard quick-fit classes that all the 24 hours seem to carry now.  I've taken one yoga class there.  It wasn't too full and the instructor was nice.  It wasn't very strenuous but it was very relaxing.

If you're in the area and you're looking for a gym to work out at, you should definitely check this one out. If you're looking to meet or pickup someone, probably not.  The place is so empty that if you were to walk up to someone, everyone would notice.

A great place for people who want to work out in a sparkling clean environment and not have to deal with a lot of interaction with anyone else.

This is the location I signed up at and although it is not the closest to my house it is the cleanest and newest location. The place is fairly large and offers more machines that the one closet to me.

At times yes it does get busy at peak hours but it tends to not be too bad and dies out quickly . I never have to wait for a machine and there isn't too many roid junkies screaming and scaring people. The staff is nice and always helpful. It is clean and seems very new still, I always see a cleaning person there cleaning in the evenings.

This is my gym of choice and go out of my way for this location everyday. Some other locations close at night on the weekends but this one is open 24/7 365.

Typical Sport gym with basketball court and pool.

    Could use more lower-body machines.

There's an interesting, self-pleasuring medicine ball machine for ab work.

Water fountains need replacement handles, and the restroom more frequent touch-ups.

    Generally clean and orderly.

Manageable crowd, i.e., not much waiting for weights / machines.

I had been going to Pure Fitness on Northern for awhile but got sick of the constant pushy sales tactics. I bought a membership at costco and I'm super happy. Place is never super crowded and it has no pushy sales people. Best of all it has pool and steam room.

I have been a member to many gyms and this one is by far my favorite.  The facility is very clean, their janitorial staff  also works 24 hours.  They also have plenty of equipment so Im never stuck waiting for an available machine (Very Important)  and the staff is very friendly.  I have already got my family, classmates, and friends to sign up and they also love it.  If you are looking to sign up for a gym, you should definitely check this place out.

This is the best 24 Hour Fitness I have discovered in Arizona. Spotless and clean, it has my favorite eliptical. The mostest awesomest feature: the incredible stretching machine. You basically do certain poses as pictured and it stretches out those particular muscles. For this grad student too cheap to pay for a trainer it is golden.
