I have been working out in this gym for about 10 days my Positive and Negative review for this gym
    Positive
This GYM is quite big from inside has almost everything you may need.
It has a pool ( 2FT TO 5 FT deep 3 lane ) , Sauna and Steam ( Not a great one but nice to have something)
Staff are good and often greets you.
It has good class available for Zumba, Cycling, Yoga etc. They are all free.

    Negative
I don't understand why they don't have a door or a curtain in men shower area. You are force to look at naked men inside the restroom. This is the WORST thing.
Parking is often pack near the area. Public parking are available which is a block away no so convenient.
Before I enrolled they promised me that they will call me and schedule me free 50 minutes of training. So far I have not received any call from them.
It's Busy M - F 5pm to 9pm which may be common to most of the other gym.

Overall : It's a nice gym worth visiting. I pay 29.99 a month with no initiation not a great deal but it's not bad ether. I may cancel this for the first 2 negative reason 1) No door or curtain in men shower 2) Parking little away from the gym area. If this 2 are not a problem for you then you should definitely take a 7 day free pass (if you don't have 7 day free pass give me ur mail id I will send u one.)  Go to the gym during your normal gyming hours so that you get to know how it is really like.

This gym is really organized and have a good amount of space between machines. Its usually crowded between 5-7pm.

Lots of televisions to watch sports games or the news.
One time, there was a Kings game going on and they didn't have it on, so I asked a staff nicely to change the channel on one of the TV... and he did.

I like this gym because of the pool, steam/sauna and hot tub. AND not having to walk through the bathroom/changing room to get there.

I'm not fond of having to walk through a smoking area where students from the schools are usually smoking.

there's a parking complex if you can't find any street parking. Make sure you bring your parking card to manually validate it at the front desk.

Facebook check-in if you want a $1 off any box of bars, cookies or snack.

Other than that... Put some deodorant, bring a towel, find some motivation and work it!

It's a pretty standard Sport gym with one caveat:

If you love training in a sauna that smells like BO, then this is for you!

Sometimes when I go in around 9pm, my glasses fog up from the sweat and heat as I step inside the gym.

To be honest, the BO doesn't bother me much. People sweat in a gym, so whatever. However, trying to exercise in an sauna with poor ventilation and no a/c is not the best.

I decided to move my gym hours to the morning a few days and around 6am the gym is so much better. Now if I can permanently turn myself into a morning person instead of a night owl who's posting on Yelp at 1 am, then I can do this morning gym rat thing.

I've been coming to this gym for 7 years!! Yea I'm a huge gym buff!

A year ago, I would have given this place 5 STARS!! They used to have a half-court basketball court where the classes are held, and it was perfect! Come in, stretch, play basketball for an hour (high intense cardio), stay in court for class (yoga or kick boxing), do some weight training, and then finish up my work out with a combo of sauna and steamed room.

Yes, the demolition of the basketball court brings the gym down to 4 STARS.. I LOVE PLAYING BASKETBALL!! They also used to have a rock wall for rock climbing!

But not to worry, this gym is still awesome! It's in a very convenient location, between Old Town Pasadena and Pasadena City College. The staff there is awesome, friendly, and always willing to help. The classes they offer are pretty great, mostly because they have quality instructors. And the facility has most of it, Pool/jaccuzi, two floors for cardio, 2 weight training rooms (fairly big), and they have the shop to get your power drinks and snacks!

All in all, I really like this gym!

When it comes to gyms, I care about equipment selection and whether or not I have to wait in line for said equipment. 24 Hr Fitness does a good job in both categories, but I have to mention, some of machines that require you to sit... well let's just say bring a towel...

    and then burn that towel.

It seems like the more times I come to this 24 Hour Fitness, the better it gets. I think initially, I did not know they validate parking, so it was rather inconvenient to find street parking since it is so scarce and only an hour for that matter during posted street hours.

As I am working out, I notice that the sidewalk above is made of these glass blocks allowing light into the gym. As I mentioned in my previous review, it still has the antiquated equipment, but there is a least a duplicate of each item, so it makes it accessible to everyone especially when some people tend to hog the equipment for themselves.

    Was this review …?

I have been to this location a few times when I have early morning meetings in Pasadena. It is located next door to the Cordon Bleu Academy. Large facility with plenty of weights. Parking sucks, or maybe I have not figured it out yet. I have had to park around the corner and lug my bag and dress shirt.

I'm having a hard time believing this is a gym.  It has 3 floors of gym equipment, but it's so stuffy, especially the upstairs cardio areas, which needs the most circulation.  The weights areas are small and does not have a spacious floorplan, which I like.  The water fountains are hard to find.  The staircases leading up to the cardio area from the weights area is really steep and can be a hazard coming down if you're not paying attention.

The basketball court has obstacles, like poles right in the middle of the courts.  Just not impressed here.  The locker room area looks like an old underground railroad that got cemented.  Just a scary place.  The LA Fitness in Pasadena is not that much better but still, this place could have found a better location.

I wasn't too sure of what to think of this gym, much less how to get there. Then one day after class i decided to actually try to walk in to this gym and finally try it out.

I wasn't dissapointed. The entrance is literally right by the street, the gym has 3 floors and its surprisingly clean. Although I only spent about 45 minutes here due to my time crunch, I actually got to see the whole gym. There are 3 floors to workout with with one pretty big yoga or other activity room, another large pool and ok looking locker rooms. The only negative might be the parking situation. On this day I actually stopped by at night so the parking wasn't an issue but I'm assuming during the day this must be a complete headache specially because of the culinary school in the same building.

All in all, its a good gym. Wasn't crowded and all the machines were in working conditions. Location is ok if you go to the gym at night, during the day it may be a bit hectic. I am going to be coming here more often so my view of this gym may change but I guess only time will tell .....

This place is fine... a little ventilation could help, but that's my only quip.

It has everything that I need to use and it's close to my house. The staff has been VERY friendly, (which is more than I can say for recently merged "other" gyms in the LA area).  The parking is not far away... just across the street behind the library. If that's too far, I question your ability at the gym?!

They have a hot pool. That thing is a lifesaver... the people who use the sauna and steam room fully-clothed are questionable. The fact that the sauna floor is NOT made of wood (and will immediately cook your feet, or melt your flip flops), is a bit absurd - but that is what you get. The steam room really does need a serious make-over. That peeling paint and strange smell can't be good for you...

Personally, I like the feeling of being an abandoned factory. I like to crank up the German "Industrial" music for my work outs... and this just plays into the vibe. The whole place is just "quirky" at best.

The worst part is the fact that it's located in the Le Cordon Bleu building and I always end up wanting moule or steak frites.

Anyway, the gym works - especially if you're some sort of bat-caver.

I've been a member of tons of gyms in the last 10 years. It's Cali... what d'ya expect?
I've met practically the entire staff... obviously sales and although they particularly may have been a little persistant in the beginning, they were all helpful in any way they could be.
I've done the trial 7-day pass and used it everyday I could to really get a feel for this club.
I've finally signed up and only belong to this Sport for 24.99 a month, no initiation.
I've used the fingerprint scanner. Cake.
And.... I've gotten great workouts thus far!

It's a dungeon, I'm not going to lie. There isn't too much air circulation, so when it gets down to max resistance at the end of my 30  minute cardio... my lungs are gasping. Also, it's horrible that I cannot get Pandora consistently. Maybe it's Verizon? The equiptment is almost outdated, but clean for the most part and work perfectly fine. I always clean my machine with that spray they have just to be courteous. I actually didn't know they remodeled until I read Roland R.s review. Did they finish? The lockeroom and restrooms are relatively tidy... sometimes heavily bleached, which might be a good thing. Anyway, I'm not the type to socialize or hang out at the gym, but I have gone with my girlfriends and it's definitely motivating. I like getting a phenomenal workout in no matter what, so I'm in and out. Parking isn't all that difficult. I usually park wherever I can and walk. It's a nice stroll there and back from anywhere in old town... I consider it a cool down anyway.

Bottom line, this gym gets it done.

I suppose what you think of this place will depend on what you're looking for. I'm sure there's much fancier gyms out there, places where you'll be carried around on a litter from machine to machine, fanned with palm fronds, and provided with foot rubs after your workout is through. I'm also sure you'll be paying dearly for a gym like that.
As for myself, I'm hitting a gym for a single purpose- to get a ferocious workout. That's it. This place provides it. All the free weights I need, all the machines I need, plus the lap pool downstairs is meter length (as opposed to yards, big plus.) The place is clean, most of the machines aren't broken all the time, and best of all the monthly dues are very reasonable. Like I said, it gets it done, and it's everything I need out of a gym. In, wham bam, Out, thank you very much.

Good parking lot with free validation when less than 1.5 hours.  It's pretty cool to workout in "a basement", some people say it stinks, but c'mon it's a gym, don't expect the spa.  The lowest level (B2) has the free weights, giant fitness room, 3 lane pool, steam room and sauna; the first level (B1) has the majority of weight machines and a "training area"; there's a top level that's in the section where all of the treadmills are.  So there's extra space to stretch, however, there aren't that many cardio machines, but there's lots of TVs on the wall for you to watch while running or hitting the weights.

    // FACILITIES //
-Feels like you are running around in the sewer with random levels, stairs, and pipes everywhere.
        -The equipment is outdated
-The cardio room feels like a sauna due to poor ventilation/circulation.

// PARKING // No bueno. Can park in the lot on Union and get validated or try to find street parking. If you go at night (past 9 pm) street parking is not much of an issue.

So after all of this, why the 4/5 star review?! It is NEVER crowded! Love being able to come to this gym at all hours and still find plenty of cardio or weight machines available. In addition, the patrons of this particular location are very courteous, do not trash the restroom with nasty clumps of hair everywhere, and wipe the machines down after they use them.

Yes - this gym just works.  Not the newest equipment, nothing fancy, but it is generally clean and not too crowded.  Also, it is super cheap, I paid $300 at Costco for a 2 year membership (pretty sure the deal still exists).

-1 star for parking which is a bit too far away
-1 star for very poor air circulation.

    Otherwise, the gym is fine.

    4 stars with some caveats:

I tend to come here either fairly early or very late, almost exclusively to use the pool; as I use more amenities, I'll update this.

It's not a bad gym and it qualifies for the 2 year Costco membership deal. Unlike most other Sport level clubs, though, it has a full length pool and a hot tub. Big plus! The pool tends to be in good shape and though once in a while you'll take a stroke and find a strand of hair, it's the exception more than the norm.

I also see a janitor in the locker room pretty much every time I'm there, so I know they're cleaning the lockers at least twice a day.

It's also not very crowded when I go; the machines tend to have a lot of vacancies, and the pool itself USUALLY only has a couple people in it, although at times every lane has two swimmers in it.

If you're arriving before 8 am, use the street parking; you get 2 hours that way (1 hour parking starting from 9). Same dealy if you arrive at 5 pm or later. (I THINK enforcement ends at 6, not 100% on that) Anything west of Los Robles qualifies, I think.

It's the Friday morning of my Labor Day weekend and I'm intoxicated by the possibilities of the next four days....so I'm feeling a liiiiittttle generous today and I'll give this 24 HR Fitness a two star (versus a deserved 1 star)

Soooo, I signed up for 24 HR recently to fit my late night workout cravings (which couldn't be satiated at the gym right by my house, unfortunately!) so I decided to sign up at the 24 HR in Pasadena and in fact bought the 3 Personal Training Sessions for $129. I figured it really couldn't hurt to get some one-on-one time with someone who knows how the body works, which exercises to firm up my problem areas. So, I treated myself to the 3 session package.

When the Account Coordinator asked me if I had a gender preference for a PT and I told him "I'm looking for the most experienced, most knowledgeable PT you have" he immediately knew who to set me up with...

Now...I don't wanna give you this trainer's name because he's a really nice guy and I don't want to blast the poor dude on Yelp...especially since I don't know if the following is a sales tactic that he personally uses or if he's merely following the instruction of 24 HR business execs/management...

He came across as really friendly but from the get-go, he was moving wayyy too quickly and showing me wayyy too many things at one time, one after another. And he kept making notes on a piece of paper but they were so confusing, I kept asking if I MYSELF could make it more legible or put it in a language that was more comprehendible to a novice like me, which he was ok with I guess...

What's even WORSE is that I feel a chunk, not necessarily a big chunk, but a CHUNK of my 50 minute session was taken up by a salespitch to get me to buy more classes...

"Natalie, you seem really motivated, driven and you know exactly what you want and I think our personalities really go well together. I want to continue working with you so I suggest you go with the 20pack session (nearly $1K bucks). We'll continue working together to help you fine tune your body..." blah blah blah

On my second training session he talked about nutrition and tried to sell me on a Body Bug and access to MyApex and other stuff like that....where I ONLY wanted to discuss what I should be eating, how many calories to maintain my weight, how many calories to lose 3-5 pounds within a given period, what kinds of foods I should be eating, etc. I did NOT, however, want to be sold more products!

My third time....well....this was a doozy....he AGAIN tried to sell me on a package but this time he scaled it down from the original recommendation of the 20pk to only 10pk since he could tell I wasn't gonna spring for the ridiculously expensive 20pk...all of a sudden this was the "Ideal package" for me...uhhh huhhhh

When I told him that I wanted to try out what we had worked on over the last 3 sessions (or whatever I could understand) for a couple weeks FIRST and then come back to buy more sessions if I felt like I needed it....

I kid you NOT...he kinda chuckled and said something along the lines of..."Yeah...I don't think you're gonna get it...but try it...the body has so many intricacies and three sessions isn't enough to get to where you wanna go...I GUARANTEE you, you're not gonna get it."

It was as if he KNEW this 3 session package was going to be a failure UNLESS I continued to buy more sessions...wth?!

Ummm homie....then why didn't you tell me that earlier???...if I had known the cheaper $129 (cheaper in terms of cost of package and cost per session) was gonna be used to sell me MORE services or products, I would have opted out from the beginning!

Anyway, I like the gym, the location, the rather extensive collection of cardio equipment so I'll probably be back....eventually....after this bad taste in my mouth wears away....and ONLY for the use of the facility....definitely NOT a PT!

I like this gym, primarily because of the classes really...

Every time I'm in here I feel like I'm inside a hamster cage. The place is really small, but it has everything you need. The facility is clean, people are really good with racking up the weights, and the classes are really good.

But my main problem with this gym is they only validate your parking for 2hrs. After that its $5+. I know 2hrs to some people is a long time, but sometimes you lose track of time. Good luck trying to find street parking. I just don't like the fact that theres a possibility I have to pay for parking if I go to the gym. Wack. I suggest to come before 4pm or any time after 8pm to find street parking.

The biggest complaints that people have about this gym are that it's small, muggy, and stinky. The truth is, it really is. But there's something I find charming about this place. Honestly, it's not the worst gym I've ever seen. There's lots of equipment, the staff is friendly, and the heat makes me sweat more, which is actually a good thing because that's KINDA the whole point of going to the gym, right people?

Like I said, the complaints are legit. The air conditioning needs to be improved (they could literally just drill a few more fans around the place and they'd be better off), and it is small, but it's not terrible. I like it.

This is by far one of the worst 24 hr Fitness places I have ever entered. For a city like Pasadena I expected more. First the parking is lousy. They have no parking spaces or structure. I went on Sunday expecting to relax and that is the only time you will find free parking on the street. The showers were closed indefinitely due to bacteria or some sort of infection. The sauna was awful and so was the steam room. If any earthquake ever hit you would die as you are way down there and felt like I would see a rat anytime. The pool area was not clean and just seemed like no air circulation. If you want a 24 hr that is good and up to standards go to the one in Arcadia near REI. It is more spacious ,good air circulation and they are always cleaning.

4 stars since they have some of the best Zumba instructors in the LA, SGV and SFV areas. Maria T. on Monday nights st 8pm  is awesome. I feel like we are at a club in our gym clothes not worried about makeup and heels- just there to get our grove on and dance like no tomorrow and like nobody is watching. Maria is super fun and motivating. Everyone is smiling in that class. Kendi on Saturdays gives a great workout as well. Carina on Wednesdays is also pretty fun. I haven't tried anyone else at this gym yet.

Not a 5 star review as the gym itself is dark, depressing, and needs a makeover.  Um, it's in the basement and feels like we warp into the 1980's but oh well.  In terms of gyms, this one seems like a regular not a sport. but everyone there is pretty nice. parking is horrible though.

I downloaded a 7 day pass and showed up on Monday at 9:01
to be greated by a sour faced receptionist, who informed me that my 7 day  printed pass would not be honored. F- for the dollface at the reception desk.  She also stated the counselor had left apparently at 9pm. I called at 7pm to get the skinny on my free pass, and sour grapes said just get here before 9pm. Sour Grapes made no mention of the limited availability of counselors. It's a good thing the stench hit me first, which pretty much sealed the deal before I even looked around.

    Pros
    1. 2 hour validated parking to the left of this recenly remodeled gym.
    2. The bathrooms and showers are clean and newly tiled.
    3. The synthetic veneer on the women's locker was a surprise and compliments the miami vice colors strewn throughout the women's locker room.

    Cons
    1. Apparently the front desk greeter failed customer service 101.
    2. The gym is below ground level, which helps to leven the stench of sweat. Take care as you enter and be prepared for the lovely stench.
    3. Apparently forced air was not include in the recent remodel.
    4. If a class is in session you can hear the instructors session echo thru the entire building/3 levels kiddies. Bring your IPOD.
    5. The number of cardio machines pales in comparison to Bally's in Hollywood.
    6. The weight equipment pales in comaprison to Ballys inHollywood.
    7. The sauna and steam room are coed.
    8. The gym is a glorified closet.

Since they've remodeled this 24 a few months ago, it's actually decent now.  It doesn't look as dingy and grimy as before.

The big PRO of the remodel is that they took out the basketball court which was just pathetic.  There were huge cement cylinders supporting the building running through the room so it was hard to have any sort of game without it looking like some special Olympics basketball.  Now it's basically just a room for classes like body pump or some "new version" of Tae Bo.  I'm sure the ladies are happy they can stretch without the risk of getting hit in the face with a basketball.

The big CON, however, is that they took out the rock climbing wall.  I thought that made that gym unique and added some "personality" to that 24.  Oh well, I guess I'll have to watch TV between sets instead of watching amateur rock climbers attempt the wall in that awkward, genital-crushing harnesses.

As for the crowd in the weight-lifting room, most are pretty courteous with re-racking and taking down their weights.  Occasionally you'll have one or two that would just leave their weights everywhere.  But what are you gonna do......except wish a 50 pound dumbell falls on their neck (inconsiderate bastards)!

Recently joined and let me tell you I love the fact that it's open 24 hours a day lol. Especially since I tend to be a bit night owl and struggle with insomnia sometimes but yea totally beats from laying in bed at 2am watching tv and eventually giving into those munchie craving NOT GOOD!! But yea I like the fact that I can go in around that time and how it's pretty empty so I get to work out pretty comfertably with out feeling like someone's looking or judging me ha On how much weighs or pounds I left XD  bottom line I like this place :)

Some people object to navigating the narrow hallways and staircases that separate the cardio, free weight, circuit machine, and locker room floors; but the multilevel, vintage industrial floorplan of this gym in historic downtown Pasadena thrills me.  This gym, like the surrounding district, has uncommon character.  Parking is a 5 minute walk away and the gym will validate for 1.5 to 2 hours.  You can also walk 10 minutes to the nearest Metro Gold station.

This gym nails all the basics: lots of modern equipment in good repair, clean locker rooms, friendly staff, and courteous patrons.  In addition I noticed not one but two open areas stocked with gym toys like jumping boxes, Swiss balls, foam rollers, and extra dumbbells.  I went here once at midday and once midevening after work.  At neither time did I encounter crowds or inconsiderate meatheads.  That's a big, big deal to me.

There's also a 3-lane lap pool, sauna, steam room, and hot tub.  The hot tub is the only questionable feature I found in the whole gym because of its faintly golden tinge.  I hopped in anyway to relax and stretch after my swim.  No big deal as long as I shower afterward, I think the exposure boosts my immune system.

Three years of access for $450?  Awesome.  And people here re-rack their weights.

The Bat Cave is my hideout and my default gym.  I usually ride my bike to this gym because of the convenience.  But for those who plan on driving, your best bet is to park in the parking structure that is north west of the facility.  Parking is hectic now ever since Le Cordon Bleu occupied part of the building.  Be prepared to walk through a CLOUD of smoke because a lot of the students hang out by the gym entrance smoking a storm.

People are deterred by the lack of parking space, which for the people that ACTUALLY go here actually have equipment to use. =D

It's a place to work-out and enjoy your time there doing it.

The pictures on 24's site are pretty deceiving, making the place look bigger than it really is.

Went here on a particularly hot day. After spending a bit of time trying to find parking (there aren't any signs directing you anywhere...). I was dying to get inside to experience the glories of air conditioning. I step in and the first thing that hits me is the muggy heat inside. I meet my friend and we proceed to work out.

The whole time I'm working out I'm thinking about the heat and humidity. It was almost unbearable..to make matters worse the drinking fountain at the first/highest floor (you go downstairs from street level when entering the gym) was busted so it was dispensing warm water...disgusting.

I was so uncomfortable I didn't think I was able to work out effectively and ended up leaving with my friend. I couldn't get over the heat and humidity, and the size of the place may make someone claustrophobic.

This is coming from a guy who ran cross country for 3 years in high school with practices in the summer afternoon. Just being in this gym made me feel like I was exhausted on a hot summer day.

This is my gym! I back it tooth an nail! Yes, theres maybe sweat on the machines sometimes... it 's a f*%$ing gym, you may need to walk a block for parking..(bet you are the non hadicaped lazy assholes using the elevator in this place too)...
This gym is my special place, reminds me of Indiana Jones with the weird levels, half broken cemet walls, old train cart tracks molded into the ground... The music ain't bad and there is plenty of lookers!
Get your lift on and shut-up!

I've been coming to this gym for about a year, and I have to say -- enough is enough. Every time I walk into this workout dungeon I can't help but imagine when was the last time this place was thoroughly cleaned, not just misted with the fine sprays of body sweat and diluted all-purpose cleaner. And I wonder what else I could be spending my $30/month on ... there has to be a gym out there that is better than this.

But I guess the funk of an underground gym (completely with chlorinated [hopefully] pool) is something I can put up with. Except that this place is a complete wreck. Machines sit broken for months at a time, and the management's obsession with new clients have over-crowded this already tiny gym. Weights and other tools are never available, to get a bike in a spin class plan on arriving at least 45 minutes early, and the classes are packed like a sweaty salmon run.

It's almost impossible to find enough square footage to enjoy a legitimate workout without the assistance of a personal trainer -- which is the one thing this place has going for them (hence the 2 stars). The personal training staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and for the most part, not overbearing. The worst experience of chain gyms is the foisting of products, gadgets and training sessions. This 24 Hr Fitness doesn't force this service down your throat, but it is available, and the staff is great. I recommend Preston to all of my friends and coworkers.

So, overall, I hope the management staff at this gym reads and enjoys this review. For the love of all that is fit and healthy, please clean your gym, fix your equipment, and pump some fresh air into your basement sweat swamp.

Didn't even get to try the gym because I couldn't find parking.

Plus even if I did find parking on the street it's limited to 1 hour. It'll take me about 5-10 minutes to walk to the gym, 3 to checked in and settled on a machine, 2 minutes to wipe down my machine and another 5-10 minutes to walk back to my car.

Total work out time? 35 minutes.

    FAIL.

I wont give this spot such a bad review as everyone else seem to be giving this place.

I dont go to the gym to hook up and I would be honest there are some quite good looking people but that's not what I am there for even if hormones are raging I am here to do work and if I met them outside than I may say something but once I enter this gym or any gym in general I switch that "guy brain" off and go to do whatever I have to do.

Not as big as the other 24 but it has the cardio machines I need and it isn't too far away to get a good sweat.

Ughhhh no parking structure...have to park on union st. public parking garage and you only get 1 and 1/2 hours with validation -_-" I recently just joined 24 hour fitness and this one is closest to my house but i don't like the fact that they don't have parking!

the facility is great though....very big and spacious. the machines are up to date and easy to use. I really like this facility but if only they have a parking area!

the services are okay....the person at the front desk wasn't very friendly when i asked her where the locker rooms are and the cardio workout area...but whatever.

    SERVICE:
Love Karla! She's awesome - she works the front desk! Awesome person and worker!

    WEIGHT ROOM:
There are always a lot of guys there and occasionally you'll see a buff girl and then you'd see little me haha
It can get crowded after work hours (5pm+) but I go during lunch hours and it's not bad. A lot of intimidating looking guys who workout but they really leave you alone, so come and workout.

    MACHINES:
    Free during lunch
    Packed after 5pm
