Review from Sergio F.
You know the old story of getting 200 points on the SAT just for showing up and signing your name? The fitness version of that is this 24 Hour Fitness where you burn a few calories going to the weight floor from lobby up the entry stair.
OK, so yes, one my New Years' resolutions was the same as 345,678,901,234 other Americans which was to join a gym and start getting in shape (a fellow Yelper and fitness fanatic who shall remain nameless was another drill sergeant motivator but anywho.) I did a search on gyms close to my office and 24 Hour Fitness came up. Another reason I chose them is one of the Yelp Deals promotions being offered was a discount for multi-club membership as they have another location closer to home as well.
The weight floor is evenly divided between cardio (the stairmaster is killing me as I start working out again), weights (I'm already at 20 lb machine lat raises :), abs machines I haven't braved yet and a group class studio. In contrast to the previous gym I went to, all of the machines appear to be in working order.
The pool and jacuzzi are downstairs as well as the showers and lockers. Wood paneled, they look to be clean, maintained and with the lock ring intact. In other words you can put your phone and wallt with a lesser risk of it getting stolen. -

As a self-proclaimed gym rat and fitness enthusiast, I know that all gyms are not, in fact, created equal. Having been a member of LA Fitness for 5+ years, I was reluctant to make the swap to another facility that I had only worked out at a handful of times. However, due to financial constraints, when my membership came up for renewal, I opted to go with the better value. At $299 for 24mo and access to any Sport Club, 24 Hour Fitness was the winner (vs. LA which was $299 for 13mo).
The biggest draw for me is that 24 Hour Fitness (let's abbreviate it as 24 for the rest of the review) is open....wait for it.... 24 hours a day. Sometimes I like to work out at the most obscure hours on the weekend (9pm or later), and LA Fitness inconveniently closes at 8pm Sat and Sun. Now what I don't like is working out at a gym where 10+ cardio and weight training machines are out of services, pins are missing from cable machines, and everything is scattered all over the place. This gym is less than 4 years old.. there's no reason why they quality of their equipment should be lacking.
I know what the average gym peak times are, and I honestly avoid the weight room like the plague around those hours. 24 is a ZOO between 6pm and 9pm, and it doesn't help that the facility is pretty limited on space. If you plan on sitting in the sauna or steamroom (both co-ed) after your workout, be prepared to stand (or fight for seating) as it does stay pretty full until 11ish pm.
I'm not a big fan of large group cardio classes, but I am an avid Spinner. At LA, I knew there were certain instructors that drew in a loyal following so you had to start forming a line an hr before the class to sign up. I haven't had the opportunity to Spin at 24 bc a line forms approx 90min before the class for people to sign up for 18 open spots. The other 18 spots are reserved for people who paid $1 to reserve their name in advance (yes, there is an appointment book). I was astounded that I would have to pay to reserve a spot or show up 2 hrs later to wait in line to sign up... Who has 3 hours to spend in the gym in one session?? I asked the guy at the desk if I could sign up for another date and he told me that the reserved spots were filled for the next month or so (I don't know if he was joking.. but I wasn't laughing).
Needless to say, part of me regrets switching membership to 24. The gym itself is acceptable when it comes to cleanliness, but the members don't really clean up after themselves (i.e. sweat puddles left on machines, benches, floor). During the day, between the hours of 11am-5pm, the crowd isn't bad enough to where you feel frustrated or claustrophobic... but if you're working out outside of those hours, be prepared to hunt for functioning equipment and occasionally scream obscenities at a sweaty creeper that's encroaching on your personal space bc he's never seen a woman in the weight room--- I've had to do it a time or 2.. or 5. -

At first, I loved the gym. It was my dream come true. It was full of all the amenities I wanted ; complete with a pool, sauna, beautiful locker room, plenty of elliptical machines, and best of all : open 24 hours!
Two weeks later, I woke up from my dream. See apparently, with my membership came a 3 session personal training program. I wasn'tfor it but I decided I'd give it a try. They made me fill out a paper and told me they would call me back in 24-48 hours. Johnathan, the really nice dude that signed me up, was on top of me saying "hey, has the trainer called you yet?!" "nope, haven't heard from anyone yet" two weeks later I still hadn't heard from anyone and decided it wasn't worth it. So that's when I headed to management and requested a refund - since the website states it has a full money back guarantee. First there was no manager on site to talk to me. Then I received the two most insulting calls of my life! And they progressively got worse!
Ricardo, who refused to speak to me in ENGLISH, practically called me a liar and spoke to me in a hugely demeaning tone. See I have a cell phone bill that proves no one has called me from 24 hour fitness and he states he has two calls on record from 2 different trainers, one with a 1 min and 18 sec voicemail. Who the F leaves a voicemail that long?
Long story short, it was impossible to get my money back from the training sessions that I never got to take and it was a challenge canceling my membership all together. I didn't even last a month! -

The management is EXTREMELY rude. They are not helpful at all and for some reason they don't know how to return phone calls. I called at least 10 times because I really needed to get something resolved before going out of town and because they had told me to call. Every time I was given an excuse as to why no one could speak to me. After becoming completely frustrated I decided to cancel my membership with them and I refuse to go back.

This gym is very clean and there are plenty of machines however my husband and I were not impressed with the staff. The manager is like a bad car dealer. I have had a membership for six months and received a letter from the company saying I could earn a bonus if I work out several times in July. I tried to register but the website didn't exist for that promotion. I called the company and they told me to go into the gym and the manager would fix it. We waited for 15 minutes to see the manager Tony. He never made eye contact with us and did not get the situation straightened out. He just said go home and try the website tomorrow. Then he tried telling my husband to get a membership today because the $26.99 rate was the lowest they offer and it was ending that day. He even said that the staff rate was $24.99. Did he think I was born yesterday?
In the morning I tried to log on to register for the bonus and once again it didn't exist! I did see however that the rate for membership was changed to $24.99. We have moved to a better place. -

About four months ago I along with the rest of America made a promise. A promise to get healthier and to take better care of myself . Well its been a few months and I have yet to work on that resolution but that is all about to change.
While cruising through the yelp site I notice a free seven day pass for the new 24 hour fitness located in miramar I decide to give it a try. Once I arrived at this beautiful new spot I spot the usual " I go to the gym 4-5 times a week crowd" with their yoga mats and UFC shirts and get a little intimidated but i march on.
Inside I'm greeted by Oscar who then provides me with the mandatory tour of the club and he also explains the payment plans and options if I were to decide to join. On the first floor behind the check in counter your find the clubs health store . Just in case you need workout gloves , protein snacks or even headphones you can pick them up here at a reasonable price. To your left and right are the male and female lockers. Inside the female locker room you'll spot wall to wall lockers that put the once we all had in high school to shame. Also located in the locker room are about 5-6 personal shower stalls they even have a shampoo/condiontioner AND a body wash dispenser if you need to take a shower this feature alone is great if your about to head to work or out for a night out after hitting the gym. FYI bring our own lock since they don't provide you with one.
Walking out the back door of this locker room you enter into the Pool area. Oh yes included in your membership you have access to The steam and sauna room, the whirlpool and a lap pool. Now the wet area can get a little busy just remember to time it right or your guaranteed to run into grandpa Doing his water weights.
Now on to The second floor You'll find the kids club. The hours vary and most week nights they are open in till 9:30 so if you have little one ages 4- 12 you can drop them off here and get your workout on. Prices are $3 per child per session. With over 100 different exercise classes you'll never be bored with the same workout routine. And yes they are all included in your membership. As an added bonus all workout gear that you would need for the classes would be provided for you ie yoga mats weights or even kickboxing bags so no need to tote your own around.
Now on to the machines State of the art doesn't even come to mind this equipment is out of this world. Simply plug your headphones into any of the cardio machines and you can watch and even listen to any of the 7 flat screen TVs throughout the work floor. Free weights are also available if that's your poison.
I had a great experience at this gym and have decided to sign up I was lucky enough to sign up during one of there great promotions which they change up monthly. So get off the couch already and meet me at the gym we can do it together ( plus yelp has a mobile site so don't worry )Listed in: Me Me Me !, Take it Off Take it off !

Okay the only reason I am giving this place a high score is because of John. He teaches Bootcamp/Martial Fusion. His classes are awesome...HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!! He will not dissapoint...you will leave there sweating and feeling like you've just gotten the best workout ever! You have to get there at least 15 mins before to get a good spot. He's the best teacher!!! I mean I have to be fair also because I haven't tried all the classes but his class I don't ever miss. There is also Zumba class on Wednesday's that I take also but it gets so packed that you can't move in there and some ladies are so freaking rude!
Now the downside to this place is the broken treadmills...ugh, so annoying!!! And the disgusting bathroom. I don't know what happens to women but the bathroom is always so disgusting when I go. The other thing I hate is that there is never enough paper towels and cleaning spray to clean the machine. Ughhhh...this is no good! If you know this gym gets packed, put more cleaning stuff out...duh! -

Have been a member here since the first day it opened. This gym has 2 stories - the first has men/women full locker rooms, indoor heated lap pool, sauna and steam room. In a little over a year that it's been open I have never seen the bathrooms dirty and not properly maintained. The locker rooms have TV's so you can still watch ESPN while getting ready. There is also a little supplement/gear shop in the first floor.
Upstairs has the treadmills, eliptical trainers, stationary bikes, resistance training machines, free weights all facing windows. There are windows all throughout so it is very bright even during the day. There are 2 rooms for spinning and aerobics and a daycare center. There is also a multi-purpose room with exercise balls, additional free light weights and ab machines.
This is the cleanest, most organized gym I have been a member of. The clientele is a good mix of young and old and everyone seems to be concerned without working out. This is not a pickup joint by any means and there is little - if any- extracurricular socializing going on. The staff is friendly and there are personal trainers in uniformed 24 hr polos so they can be easily recognized as well. The equipment is modern and is always clean. All of the treadmills, stationary bikes, and eliptical trainers have headset jacks to listen to the tv screens placed throughout the gym. Even at peak hours (6-9pm) there is always at least one or two treadmills available. All this for under $40 a month. This is as good as it gets. -

I became a member of 24 Hour Fitness earlier this year and so far am very impressed by the club, the instructors and all the staff. I purchased the membership through Costco, which is an amazing deal. $300 for a two year membership, that's $12.50 a month!
I only go to the gym very early in the morning, between 5:30am - 7am, but even at this early hour they have a variety of classes including spinning everyday.
I do have one big complaint - they never have enough spinning bikes in the morning and many stay broken for weeks if not months. You have to get their at 5:30am to make sure you're able to take a 6am class. Unfotunately they haven't enforced a sign-in policy in the morning either which woud take care of the problem of people saving bikes for friends.
I'm hoping they fix this in the near future, because if they did - this would be the perfect place to workout.
Thankfully they have great instructors. In particular, Rasha, Greg and Mary who each have their own unique styles but keep you sweating and thankful you actually got up at such an ungodly hour.
The gym is clean, everyone is very respectful and at least the morning group is all about working out and getting out, not a meat market at all, which is wonderful.
If you have a Costco membership, then I highly recommend you taking advantage of the offer and even if you pay the membership through them, it's worth every penny!
I haven't taken my kids to the kidszone yet since I'm in and out so early, so I can't provide comments on their childcare, but I hope they're just as good as the gym.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I joined the gym when it originally opened back in September 2008. It was empty! Its packed nowadays. I used to belong to L.A Fitness (Pines). As soon as I made the change, the notices were obvious...it may be due to the new ergoninomically shaped machines or the atmosphere that is very condusive to a great workout...the staff is friendly (expect for a couple of them, but every gym has them).
I literraly work out 2 hours & the time just passes by...the great big windows allows you to workout & enjoy the views..

Will continue to workout here till my hearts content! -

Me likes but that whole parallel parking thing and the parking garage I'm not entirely use to. Also, a few of their machines are broken but not labeled. There's just no resistance on those. Otherwise, it's a nice new 24 hour gym!

I love this gym! I was a member of LA Fitness on Pines and 184th and drive about 20 minutes more to come here! It is usually clean and there is plenty of equipment. There is a wonderful steam/ sauna room and the pool is heated. The only thing is sometimes the weights and dumb bells are all thrown around. I have not taken any classes so I have no background on those.

Maintenance please! This gym is less than 2 years old, but many machines are broken (some labeled as broken, others not) and only one of the many water fountains on the work-out floor actually works. Men's room also has broken items and needs a cleaning. It could be a four or 5 star gym as the location is great, it is spacious and they have a lot of equipment.

I decided to join 24 Hour Fitness at the new Miramar location. My decision to join was based on location and proximity to my house and the hours. You can't beat the hours of operation, they're open 24/7!!
Since I go to the gym quite late 12ish, parking is always a breeze. There is convenient parking on the ground level with a 10 second walk to the front door. In addition, there is a parking garage right there to compensate for higher gym volume. I assuming parking during peak hours may be a little hectic.
Once you walk into the front door the front desk is there to meet you, as well as a couple small areas to purchase items for your workout. Also on the first floor are the restrooms and locker/shower rooms. Pool, sauna, steamroom, spa all located on ground floor with adjoining entrances from women and men's bathrooms.
The workout area is on the 2nd floor of the building. There are elevators and a large staircase inside. Once you reach the landing, it's time to work out. Immediately in front of you are the treadmills, stationary bikes and everything else cardio. To the left is a child care center, after that are desks for trainers to sit and talk with potential gym members. Past the cardio equipment, you have various stationary weight machines, and further down are the free weights.
If you're into cardio, there are plenty of flat panel tv's there to occupy your time. There is also music playing on the overhead speaker system continously. There is a large room to the left of the open gym area filled with stationary bikes, and schedules for cycling classes.
Obviously depending on the time of day you visit the gym crowds will differ. Like I said earlier I visit the gym in the evening, so I pretty much have free-reign over what I want to do with no waiting.
Overall, great clean gym with all the features I want and use. I've been at 24 hour Fitness Miramar for over 3 months and have yet to experience a problem. If you're looking into joining the gym, test it out and see if it provides to your needs, you can try the FREE 7-day membership. -

excellent gym. very clean and nice employees there. i wish the paper towel machines weren't empty as often as i find them and that they stick to one shampoo in the the showers.
besides that, there are always machines available and its never over crowded. some machines i feel work better than others regarding adjusting settings and heart rate monitoring. but you will find the machines you like the most and stick to them.
