Review from Jose M.
Miami, FL
If I could write a review based on time it would go like this
5:00am-9:00am - The best Gym in town.
9:00am-3:00pm - Nice gym. not too crowded
3:00pm-10:00pm - avoid this place at all costs. dirty, disgusting, rude, you are going to get in a fight.
10:00PM - 4:00am - Interesting crowd
I would like to say management doesn't enforce the rules, but the sheer number of people that don't follow any rules makes manging this place at times impossible.
What is it with the disgusting things people do the sauna and steam rooms. Shaving, clearing their throats and spitting, etc.... Again, the management can only do so much.
It's pretty sad when people that go this 24 go out of their way to break things. I've been to other 24 hour gyms in other states and this doesn't happen. The Grove location maybe smaller, but the people there take care of the place. The customers make a big part of the experience and the people that go here are not always the best. -

Here we go..........This gym would be perfect if it were not for the following items: the staff & the members! I don't understand why people do not re-rack their weights after you are done using them, clean up your damn sweat puddle or get out of the way when someone is trying to get by & you happen to be blocking the main walking area. The staff is very nice but does not seem to do much, maybe I'm wrong. Another complaint I have is the basketball court. Why have SIX (6) basketball hoops & only have TWO (2) of them in use while the rest of the members have to wait a ridiculously long time to play on the main court????? Isn't there a way to fix this, please?!?!
Also, because of the theft problem in here, I bring nothing in except keys, phone & will never leave any valuables in the locker room. Bringing a lock is useless, the mother******* will find a way to break into your locker. It happened to my buddy that convinced me to join this place. Moral of the story, my friend joined the competing gym after he was told there was nothing the gym could do & would not provide camera footage.
Positives?? It's in a convinient location so when I'm the hell hole that is Kendall, I am able to get in a quality workout. It is open 24 hours. They have a daycare that seemed to be nice & my daughter had a nice experience there while I worked out. I'm not sure I'm missing anything else.............. -

This is my gym. Yeppp this is it. $28 bucks a month you can't expect too much so here it is. I switched to this gym because LA Fitness was a modeling show where the woman dress up in dangling earrings and spandex to hook up and score. The men prowl over you asking you out on dates its more like a "CLUB" not a gym...Not my thing, I just want to work out and get out!
So here is my Overview of 24 hour fitness.....
Up's
Theres always a cleaning crew that comes around cleaning the machines.
There is plenty of cardio equipment in the gym
Its open 24 hours! So come in at 2 am do some cardio and sing to your tacky ipod songs because no one cares!!
Theres is plenty of aerobic classes offered
Theres a pool but I dont use it.
They have a basketball court (nice one) and a spinning and aerobic room
Down's
Theres no "real" women's section....They need to create a women's workout area with lighter women friendly weights,
I feel like I'm at muscle beach when I come here too late... It a roid rage of muscles and sweat.
But then again I cant expect much for the price..
At times the strech and sit up's area is very full so it's hard to cool down and strech and do some crunches if it's too packed...
I feel like theres alot of creepers around this gym... but thats at most gyms.
At times some of the machines are broken
$28 isnt much for a gym , its a decent workout...so I'll stay a member here till I move somewhere else.... -

This gym is great other than the fact that the staff does not do their job enforcing the rules. For example; enforcing the re-racking of weights, gym bags on the floor, everyone having a towel, a secure check in process, timely repair and replacement of equipment etc.. Basically this is a managerial problem obviously the manger allows this to go on. Maybe he wants to be the cool boss and not do his job or maybe the district mngr. doesn't do theirs. Who knows? Something needs to be done because this gym could be so much better. I have made management and corporate aware of these issues and more and nothing gets done. Price is good, hours are good and gym is close so I stay.

Review from Megan D.
when the gym isn't a fucking mess and the stairs aren't all out of order, it's a great gym. I've just gotten used to my warm up being me looking for the weights I'm going to use for the rest of my workout, instead of 5 mins on the stairs. Meh.

Still a frequent visitor but the amount of broken and semi-broken equipment can really be quite annoying. However the location is convenient for me and it's certainly not the absolute worst gym to which I've gone!

It sucks that all the good machines are working 6 months and broken for 3... Takes them months to replace the broken nets in the Bball courts even when I know they have them in stock... Besides that I came from la fitness and porkys and they all have there own flaws... Porkys to me was the best due to the fact that they are
Always clean and organized but they don't have a basketball court:-/ so I stay at 24 till something better comes along -

I gave it two stars because it's nice and big and has plenty of equipment including a large assortment of cardio equipment. BUT this place is a mess. I work out in the wee early hours of the morning after I get off of shift and it's just a pig sty. The weights are all over the place... Paper towels are thrown all aroud and empty bottles are left behind. For 299 a year this place really need to clean up it's act.

ZERO STARS - G H E T T O ! ! !
DIRTY - DIRTY - DIRTY!!! I could stop here, but I won't deny you of some insider info.
When this location first opened, it WAS VERY impressive. Then it took a turn for the WORSE within the first year. From broken mirrors and machines, nonfunctional TVs on the cardio machines (which BTW good luck finding one that isn't squealing, has a working keypad, and does not have a "SORRY THIS EQUIPMENT IS OUT OF ORDER") sign smacked across it. The members make it worse...the majority have no home training. Heaven FORBID they put back any of the weights! Nooooo let's leave a 50 pound barbell in the middle of the floor, either laying flat where you can't see it, or standing sideways where you can walk straight into it. BRILLIANT!!! Did I mention the bathrooms are NASTY ALLLLL 24 HOURS? No? Okay, well it's true.
ohhhhh just so you know, 75 percent of the teens that workout here don't actually have a membership. They print free passes and change the name around every week, and these idiots @ 24 never catch them.
I hope you're reading this 24...clean/fix your shhhhhhhhhh. I can't wait until a better gym opens up and sends you guys packing. I can tell Shaq has never been to this location. I would keep on listing, but I have studying to do. My 5 mins are up! :p -
Review from Sadequa L.

The gym was clean when I first signed up, but recently it's been a real dump. The women's bathroom looks more like whoa man what happened? These females have no home training at all...they pee all over the seat & don't wipe it, some females don't even wash their hands, when they do, they leave their paper towels all over the place. They also never have any hand soap...you have to wash your hands with body wash.
I've been going mainly for the group classes. I plan on starting my weight training routine next week. I'm debating if maybe I should go to Porky's or another gym in the area. I used to be a member of Bally's a few years back...they keep sending me invites, I'm starting to reconsider them. -

This gym is a typical gym. I do enjoy all the classes that they offer. My biggest dissapointment there is the air conditioner that they either have off or leave the temperature hot. Like other reviews-- I don't think it's guetto, I don't find many broken machines, I do find that there is good customer service from the staff.

**24 hours and no contract. **
its my first night going to this gym and i know that i' m going to like going. its clean, spacious, staff members are nice and the pool is open 24 hours. like other yelpers have mentioned it has plenty of cardio machines which is great so, one doesn't have to be waiting or fighting over them. -

I've been going to this gym for 2 years, and I don't think I'd go anywhere else. It's big, it's clean, there's a pool, sauna, and steam room, and they have a pretty decent class selection.
For the most part, they have tons of each type of cardio machine so unless you go at the peak of peak hours, you can usually find an open machine. They also give out some great deals on a pretty regular basis. I my 2 years of membership, I never paid more than $250 for the entire year, which is great for such a nice gym. I also got 5 personal training session for $99 at one point last year.
This 24 Hour Fitness is a great place to join whether you're looking for a straight-forward workout with regular cardio (treadmills, ellipticals, stairmasters) and weights or if you're looking for something more unconventional. They offer everything from belly dancing to kickboxing, and yoga to bootcamp, and they have a full sized basketball court and a nursery for the little ones. The only thing I dislike about the place is that the ladies' restrooms are usually pretty gross, and most of the stalls often have no paper. Otherwise, I love this gym. Oh, and take any class you can with Becky! She's super fun and funny, and her workouts will kick your ass for sure! -

This is my review from when I use to go to this gym, I see from other reviews this place has not changed since...
The people who go there are weird, the machines never worked or broken, the staff are horrible, the supplements and drinks are over priced, the pool was always closed and everyone is there for a competition. I stay away from the crowd and found a new private gym to go to. -

My boyfriend and I joined this gym last year. We stopped going and have since joined another gym, but that's a different story. It's mainly because we don't live in that area anymore.
The gym is nice and big. Full of great amenities, such as a pool, a basketball court, and a jungle gym for kiddies. They also have a separate area for trainer one-on-ones. The staff is helpful and friendly. And, most importantly, the machines are wiped down!!!
Great gym and affordable prices...AND no contract!!!Listed in: Burn, baby, BURN!!

I am a 24 hour member, and I like to try out the different facilities. I trekked down south to give this one a try. (I usually go to the one in the grove) This place was huge! Most of the Cardio machines have their own television, along with the ones hanging from the ceiling. There was an abundance of treadmills, ellipticals and stair masters. It puts the grove one to shame, but I do suspect they have a higher volume of members being so deep in the Miami suburbs.
There is a pool, sauna and basketball court. I definitely plan on going there again and getting some relaxation in after I work out my glamour muscles. -

I'm doing tryouts to get a gym membership near me.
i went online and got a 7 day pass to try out, went to the gym to redeem i was received by a very friendly front staff girl that had me fill out some paper work then i went with the sales associate that told me their offers, he was very nice and showed me around the gym and the different areas, gave me a class schedule and left me to do my workouts. I finished my day trial went 5 times at different times. The gym is big, lots of treadmill machines with personal audio and TV stations, the machine area was ok i didn't have to wait long for machines as they have many similars per muscle groups and the free weights area was organized and clean. -

I've been used to going to gyms like Planet Fitness and my school gym so when my boyfriend got me the 24 Hour Fitness membership it felt like a huge upgrade. It has plenty of machines unless you're going at like 4:00 p.m. when everyone gets out of work, then good luck finding a tread mill. I do like how it had very updated machines and the employees there seem nice. I love how its open all night since I like working out at like 2 a.m.. Unfortunately we can't really keep up with the monthly $30 each right now so I'm returning to my free gym at FIU.

We've been coming to this gym for over a year now. It started off pretty good. All the machines had iPod docks and were in good working order. Every week, there's one more machine that's missing its iPod dock. Machines that break usually take a few weeks to get fixed (if not longer). The mirror in the back of the machine weights has been broken for four months already and it doesn't seem like it's going to get fixed anytime soon. The price and lack of contract are good, but I wish dues wouldn't go up and then everything gets worse.

I was sooo excited for this gym to open. I thought wow 24 hour gym with all the bells and whistles other gyms lack. Lots of cardio machines basketball court, sauna, pool WOOOOHOOO. Me thinks not! This gym was a dream when it first opened I was training there since its inception. As time progressed the worse it got. This is a big time franchise where you pay monthly on time (hence your credit card number where on the 20th of each month they withdrawl funds) so if everyones pays there is no excuse for broken machines. Every day there is a broken machine or a machine that doesnt work correctly and this is annoying. That is the first thing. On to the cardio machines they all have tv's and I would say 18% actually work.. WTF is that? Now the ultimate hatered about this place is the members. Honestly they need to do background checks to work out. Not only was there a really bad case of A**holes breaking into lockers but fights as well, I know this because my station is across the street so you can say I spent alot of time there. So no only are they stealing peoples belongings but gym equipment as well. I cannot find a T-bar in this gym if my life depended on it... All the cable machines here are missing accessories necessary for certain exercises. On to the bathroom if there is actually soap there its a good day! and lets not mention the urinals that seem to break or be out of order quite frequently. In the end its sad Town and country is a nice mall, but its ghetto. You have all these kids that live in kendall and think they are gangsters LMAO seriously? In the end I canceled my membership at 24 when they decided to raise my membership thanks but no thanks...
(BLue martini is opening soon at town and country that will be interesting) sorry guys I'm very anti-scarface wannabe which unfortunately almost every male retard in Miami thinks they are Tony Montana. -

Ive been coming to 24hour Fitness for almost 2 yrs now & I honestly dont know why its got so many bad reviews. I LOVE it & itd be pretty near impossible to get me to switch to any other gym. The staff is always friendly & helpful, great amenities, 24/7... and at $30 a month?!? CANT BEAT IT! I used to pay almost $40 a month for Porkys!! I go in there now and I think of Vince Vaughn's gym from the movie DodgeBall!! I cant believe its still in business!! The only reason I take 1 star away is alot of the ipod docks on the cardio machines dont work properly! So if u really need to have ur ipod or iphone plugged in u gotta jump to a few machines before finding 1 that works.

We joined this gym over LA Fitness b/c the hours were better and it was slightly cheaper. BIG MISTAKE.
Over the course of the year the gym has gradually become more unkept. It is always messy (although I have seen an increased presence in cleaning staff), paper towels are left on machines and on the floor, water bottles and caps are left on machines and the machines themselves are dirty.
My biggest gripe (and I say this as a former personal trainer in NY gyms), NO ONE re-racks their weights. So, on any given day at any given time, free weights are hard to come by, scattered all over the floor or racked on machines. I frequently re-rack 3-9 45# plates from machines. Barbells are never where they are supposed to be, making me go on a wild goose chase through the weight machine section to find what I need.
Basically, the clientele that comes here has the poor attitude of "it's not my house, I can make a mess". I HATE that attitude.
And the staff is alright at best...nothing to write home about...they usually couldn't be bothered.
Most of the tv's on the machines don't work, so don't let be a selling point of the gym.
My suggestions:
Staff should MAINTAIN the floor, not just stand around.
Un-racking weights should be a standard policy.
Bags should NOT be allowed on the gym floor.
Proper gym attire should be required.
If they can deny entry if you forget your ID (g-d forbid they look it up once as a courtesy), and require a towel, they can implement other polices.
It's a shame, b/c I don't enjoy being there, at all.
A new gym opened further west and south of this location, it may be better as it's new. -

You get what you pay for, a basic no frills gym. They offer a variety of machinesbut some seem old and aren't always working. Free weights have to be chased down and the mats seem like they have had better days.
The ladies room tends to be messy and the staff is not too helpful. I want to try the one in the Grove and see if maybe they have more to offer. -

Ok... Luis S. spoke every word of truth in his review.... I'll just emphsize some of his points.
DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM! I was so excited when I found out this gym was coming to Kendall. Til then, the closest thing we had was LA Fitness and Porky's (which is great, but too small).
This place is poorly maintained. There are never paper towels in the dispensers, the benches and cardio machines are always dirty and stained with dried sweat. The equipment is all over the place. Everyday there are new pieces of equipment that are "out of order". There has been a light out in one of the showers for 10 months! The people that work there don't do crap. You always see them, looking all clean, not lifting a finger to put the equipment away.
As Luis S. mentioned, Kendall if full of wanna be gangsters. In reality, they're a bunch of losers that still live at home with mom and dad. The only good time to go, is at noon or so. The pool is always closed for maintenance. It's filthy. It's cloudy.... plain and simple, unsanitary. Spend a few extra bucks and go to LA fitness... or save some money and go to Porky's.
Do not trust any of the photos site. They make it look clean. It's never this clean! This place sucks, i would give it negative stars if I could. -

Wow this gym has seriously gone downhill. I loved it when I first started going a year and a half ago. But it's just gotten terrible. The crowd is ghetto, people are rude, and it gets uncomfortably packed during peak hours. It's dirty. I actually see a guy vacuuming from time to time now, which is surprising. One guy. I have a hard time getting help from people at the front desk. I could stand there waiting for 10 minutes and no one would say anything. Also, since other stores and Blue Martini have opened in Town and Country, the traffic coming in and out and the parking have gotten horrific!! I only keep going here because it's cheap and I need to exercise and there isn't anything better in the area for the price. So sad. I prefer going to the 24 Hour Fitness in the Grove since I work by there. It's small and the equipment is older, but at least the people there are nice and it's not so dirty.
