**LONG**
Below you will find emails exchange between Mr.Eneberg and I, hence my legitimate frustration.
**11/29/11- sent to 24hr. corporation through their website**
Earlier this year I froze my account because I was pregnant and on bed rest. I was told that when I was ready I could come in with a card payment and start up my membership again. Recently I've been receiving calls asking for back payment for September on; time that I NEVER went to the gym, nor was I ready to go back (doctors' order). I tried explaining this to your overseas customer service rep but it's hard to understand them under their thick accent; I told them that I'd go into a fitness center and talk to a 24hr. rep instead.
I was grandfathered in when I was a member at the Northgate (Seattle, WA) location when it turned into a Super Sport and so was my husband. With a 3month old now we've moved to Issaquah,WA (about 20 min. from Seattle). The closest one to my place is Issaquah; convenient is everything. Would it be possible to switch facility locations?
**David writes back- 12/05/11**
In order to access this super sport, you will need to join at our current one club rate at 42.99/mo. You were only grandfathered in on that price for that one super sport location. We can get your husband as your add on at the 29.99/mo rate though. Please give me a call or email be back a time you would like to come in to get this set up and I can make sure to get you these prices.

I will come in to cancel my membership since switching facilities without penalties was not an option.
**David writes: 12/07/11**
Your other membership was terminated. We can't transfer a terminated membership. We would simply have to re-sign you up at our one club rate of 42.99 and your husband at 29.99. I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions or if you would like to set up a time to come see me to get this resolved.

David,
My membership was not terminated.

Dear Member,
Thank you for your recent contact to our Member Services department. We appreciate the opportunity to assist our members.
This email will serve as verification that your monthly electronic funds transfer information (EFT) has been changed on your account. Your next dues billing date on 12/08/2011 will reflect the updated account information. This authorization will remain in effect until we receive notice from you to stop or update your information.

You are correct. I looked at the wrong member number. You currently have an all sport membership. If you would like to transfer to Issaquah, it would require you to upgrade to Super Sport. Please let me know if you would like to set up a time to come in to speak with myself or the club manager to resolve this.

I will stick with my All Sport membership for now and will be in later to cancel my account at my leisure. There is nothing to be resolved; it looks like you won't transfer my active account without me being penalized for my $29.99 membership.I simply wanted to transfer my 1 Super Sport membership over to your facility and it wasn't granted. It's not as if it's never been done before but this specific location is known for their lack of customer service. Henceforth, I will contribute to the list of critics and reviews.
****************
So IF my membership wasn't terminated; it seems like he would've transfered my account. BUT it's an active account, he still wouldn't do it. Customer service at this location SUCKS A$$.
They rather lose a current member and even gain a new member as to simply transferring my account, what kind of service is this? RE-donk-CULOUS
It would be unfortunate if they got another bad news publicity:

Ever heard of Snap Fitness? There's one right off of I-90 Eastgate. They're 24hours, you get a key card and can use their facility anytime, it's not as crowded. An employee won't always be there late nights, which is nice- because you can go there anytime you want without having to "wait," to have your finger scanned or type in your phone number. $250 gets you 7 months, that includes everything; the access card and initiation. *end plug* -

Issaquah, WA
This gym is great. Nice equipment, nice locker rooms, fun classes, clean, etc... I have been at all times of the day and they have so much (working) equipment I have never had to wait for a machine. They have treadmills, treadmills with a 30% incline (great training for hiking), bikes, elliptical machines, cross trainers, free weights, and weight machines. There is something for everyone that's for sure.
I have never had a problem with the front desk staff. They've always been friendly and helpful whenever I have needed them. They greet you when you check in and will give you a workout towel at that time. They also don't make you feel like an idiot when you've forgotten your locker combo which may or may not have happened to me.
As far as the classes go, they are some of the best I have ever taken. I LOVE, LOVE the body pump class. They have LesMills trainers come in to instruct about 80% of the classes. I haven't yet tried a class taught by a 24 Hour instructor but I can say the spinning looks intense and I am looking forward to trying it some time.
The price is right too for this gym. You're not paying an arm and a leg. You're really getting your monies worth, if you go that is.
I would give it 5 starts (I mean there is THE BEST Subway RIGHT NEXT DOOR... more on that in another review) but the parking leaves a smidge to be desired. If you're patient though, you will find a spot. The garage is hard to maneuver in, if you've gone in and there aren't any spots you have to do like a 30 point turn to get out. -

Great facility and nice equipment.
Bad customer service experience. All I wanted to do was upgrade to a Super Sport membership. I was told one price.. and when I drove all the way there I was told that "special" ended. Then was told a much higher price which is now the new "special". No Thanks.. -

I've been a member at 24 hour fitness for about 8 years and have been going to this location for a little over 2 years and feel it's actually improving for the better, which is pretty cool to be able to say.
At first I was PISSED that you HAD to get the Super Sport membership, but with more Super Sport locations popping up around the area, it's actually pretty handy to have.
Parking: It sucks. There's no 2 ways about it. The businesses below the gym have their parking lot but the side lot and the garage below the gym are typically always packed. Get ready to walk (especially if it's cold out and everyone's driving).
Front desk check in: I signed up (reluctantly) for the phone number check-in and I actually really like it. I made it VERY clear that I didn't want phone calls for promotions or anything and they've honored that. The front desk people are usually doing something other than just standing there chatting (like they used to) and now fold towels or are attending to customer questions, yet I am regularly greeted by name (when it pops up on the screen). Someone mentioned that the desk will give you a towel - they always have some up there, but they aren't usually offered; I feel they'd be totally fine handing you one if you asked though.
Cardio machines: The cardio machines are kept up pretty well - I think yesterday there was 1 machine out of order that I saw. They have the new Precor yellow machines (whatever those things are) and they are rarely used, but the treadmills, stair steppers, bikes and standard ellipticals are kept up well. As someone mentioned, some of the machines have the built-in iPod ports or TVs which is nice.
The tvs in the cardio area are nice, but they only get certain channels (channel 4, channel 5, Channel 11, TBS, HGTV and ESPN, I think) so if you're wanting to watch a UW game while working out - gotta figure out something else.
Towels and one-use lockers: I agree that the "on-the-floor lockers" (where you make up a combo to lock it) and the towels are nice. I wish they had more areas to get disinfecting spray to clean the machines - ideally I'd think more people would do it if they knew where to get them, but that's something you could struggle with at any gym.
Weights: There are a TON of weight machines and free weights and lots of variety. There's always someone lunging through the weight area so you feel like everyone's doing their own thing. People are friendly and I haven't really had an issue of having to "share" a machine - even circuits or rotations people will ask if you're finished before they hop on and change stuff.
Pool: The pool area is nice - temperature can vary a lot, but even though it's small, they keep it clean. People in the pool can be really friendly too. I haven't used the sauna or the hot tub based on some of the reviews here.
Locker room: to be honest, I live down the street so I change and use the restroom at home. Can't give much feedback.
The trainers are nice and persistant. I've used one that was fine but not great enough to endorse here. If you're wanting to delay training or wait to buy more sessions you have to be firm, but since they live off the commissions I think them being persistant is just a requirement of survival.
As you leave the gym, even when you're exhausted and struggling to walk ;) the front desk will acknowledge you with a "have a good night!" and try to make eye contact. I think that says a lot.
All in all a decent gym. It's getting better but structurally (the size of the pool, the amount of parking) they are limited, so they just have to be creative with what they have. I feel I get what I pay for and get good service when I have questions. -
Review from Carly L.
Ok, so apparently I don't have a membership that includes this gym.
Would I want to upgrade? They have a 10 dollar upgrade special... oh wait, no they don't.
Ok, well I will just go workout at another 24 hour fitness.
Well, you can just come in... just this one time, if you try again, you won't be able to get in.
(Notice I have been in before? see my prior review?)
Yes, this gym is nice.
But the front desk was a clusterf*** and there were 7 people standing behind the counter that I was attempting to make eye contact after my finger scan said "see receptionist".
I finally had a low rent Snooki give me the time of day but didn't know any answers to my questions and then told me "just don't try to come in again without an upgrade"
Don't you worry Snooks, I won't.1 Previous Review: Show all »

I'm fortunate to have this gym close to work so I can go in at lunch. It's a nice facility and the staff are courteous. They could get some better towels for the price they charge but that's about my only complaint. Great place to workout.

Great gym. I love that they have towel service. No complaints on the gym equipment and their classes that they have are plentiful. I tried Zumba and dragged my fiancé with me to one of the classes. He left in the middle of it, but I had a blast!
Best time to go to avoid other people's sweat from dripping off you. Early Mornings. This is the usual time I enjoy going. After 6am, starts to get a tad busy. Go on Friday night and/or Sundays too.
As in the other reviews, I agree about the front desk staff. (Carly's reference to the 24 hour Snooki, I think I know who she is referring too! LOL...). I don't know how long it took for them to figure out I was under my fiancé's account. I think after the fourth try, they resolved the issue by putting the finger scan check-in system in place. GENIUS! No really. It's hit or miss with the front desk staff. I find the morning staff more friendlier than the night crew.
For those who like to go for superficial reasons, it's a place where there is a good looking crowd. All the chicks where lululemon and the boys/men are not so much the GTL (the only Jersey Shore reference I know) type. If you want that, I'm sure Gold's Gym is the right gym for you. -
Review from Heather B.
Issaquah, WA
This facility is VERY nice. The machines are wonderful, the other people who go to the gym are very friendly and fun to talk to, and the locker rooms are set up very well. I love the pool, the cleanliness, and I adore their yoga classes. They have some really excellent teachers and I love Tori for Yoga. She's very smart about how she teaches the class and doesn't belittle you like the lady who teaches the Fast Flow Style class does. Other than her as an instructor, I've never met one of their teachers that I didn't like or that made me feel uncomfortable in my own level of ability.
The staff, however, is really starting to piss me off. First of all, you do NOT have conversations about members while you are standing at the front desk, talking in front of other members. Talking about how FAT someone is when you work the front desk at a gym isn't a motivation technique. It's just cruel, and totally unprofessional.
You also don't roll your eyes at someone who doesn't wish to submit to your DANGEROUS fingerprint ID system. And don't train your people to tell me that the, "Numbers and data only go one way." BULL. You are across the street from frickin' Microsoft. Your clients KNOW that statement is false, and many of them probably know how to crack your half-assed encryption system. Which, by the way, is VOLUNTARY, so stop trying to bully me into using it every time I walk through your doors.
Don't roll your eyes at me when I ask you where something is. It's your job to tell, or better yet, SHOW me. And don't act like I'm a moron when I ask you what temperature the pool is today. I'm a swimmer. I notice when we've dropped or gained about 4 degrees. It makes a difference. (Oh and by the way, when I can SMELL the chlorine scent, it means that your pool is NOT UP TO THE HEALTH CODE. Just a little hint there. It's not all the time, but when you run a gym, some of the time is way to often to have your chemicals in the wrong mix.)
So why do you still have my gym membership? Frankly, you're $40 a month under the other gym in town, and as soon as I can afford to change, I intend to. So enjoy my membership dues while you have them, because unless you train your staff on better customer service, you shouldn't count on hanging on to them for much longer. -

I concur with Whitney B 's earlier review on this place's reception desk staff.....they are only friendly till you are not a member.........but once you are they dont care a shit........a simple question on "where are additional lockers" was returned with frowned and uninterested "finger "direction......they should better look into this aspect of their customer service else very soon they'll have no members left........
facility is nice, mostle clean, well ventilated......but iam paying money for service more than the facility and if iam not getting that I am more than ready to take my business elsewhere, plenty of options are out there. -

This is a review for the Issaquah location only. It's nice and it's super-sport, we get it. We get it because the monthly fee is twice the amount of any other 24 Hour Fitness locations.
The process of joining a gym seems to be simple. I greet you, you greet me, you put my information into the computer, and I give you money.
When I wanted to use their 7-day trial special, the female greeter/receptionist at the front desk had no clue what to do. The front desk people seem kind of useless as far as being any sort of help. I ask them questions and they can never answer. There's always a new face at the front desk, and I go in around the same time every day.
Anyway, I waited for 20 minutes for someone else who was able to help me... to use a free trial. That irritated me a lot, as I was ready to exercise. I tend to wait a lot here at the 24 hour fitness when I need assistance. Sometimes there are multiple people at the front desk, and I stand there waiting to be acknowledged while people are aimlessly walking around. It appears the requirements to work there excludes MULTITASKING.
During the 7 days I was there, a personal trainer interrupted my work-out session to ask if I wanted his assistance with anything. E.G. do I want to pay him in the future? Nope, I did not. Luckily he didn't pursue any further, but it annoys me that personal trainers, the more useful staff, and front desk people all wear the same outfits so I can't tell them apart.
The cleanliness of the gym is decent. Towel service? The towels irritate my face because of the amount of antibacterial shit/bleach they use. The hot tub is always filled with questionable people who like to stare, and all of their Precor machines are not as functional as they could be. They don't seem very sturdy and very much made of cheap plastic. There are better gyms out there for the price of $50. -

This 24 Hour Fitness just opened up in Issaquah, WA. It is a "Super Sport" which means it has a lot of extra features and services that the regular (and mostly crappy) regular 24 Hour Fitness "Sport" centers have. The location is great and I'm glad there is finally a decent gym in the area. I toured the new building on the Grand Opening day (Friday, February 19th, 2010) and, as expected, the place was a mad house. Looking beyond the mass of people touring the location I was quite impressed with what I saw.
They have a large general area with treadmills, ellipticals, stair steppers, etc. and then another large area of weight machines and free weights. They have a separate spin/cycling room as well as a group fitness/aerobics room. They have a pool as well (which I am very excited about) but it is small, only three lanes. In the pool area they also have a sauna and whirlpool.
The locker rooms aren't huge but they are nice with private changing rooms (with doors) and private shower stalls (also with doors). They even have a nifty bathing suit dryer. The lockers are large and could easily fit a gym bag, shoes, etc.
They had a full basketball court (huge) several hoops, a small store, and a giant kids area with climbing area.
The parking is a bit of a concern. There are few spots in front of the building (which will be shared between 24 Hour Fitness, Subway, a nail manicuring place, and 3-4 other stores that are yet to be determined), there are some spots on the side of the building and they do have a small parking lot under the building that maybe has 100 spots or so but it seems like it might not be enough.
My other (more personal) concern is the pool area. I love to swim and three lanes just isn't enough for a whole gym. At best you can put 3 people per lane which would equal only 9 people swimming at one time (and three people per lane is crammed, plus you all have to swim the same speed in a circle or you start running into each other). I asked the person giving me a tour how they would manage the pool and they didn't have a clue (they said they didn't work in aquatics). There will be water aerobics which is awesome but again, not sure how many they are going to fit in the small pool.
My next concern was the price point for membership. Not too long ago I was a member at the ProClub and got sick of paying $240 a month for my husband and I to be members and I WILL NEVER PAY THAT MUCH FOR A GYM MEMBERSHIP AGAIN.
Let me tell you, I was very pleased to hear that a membership to the Issaquah 24 Hour Fitness was only $44 per month (for one person) and $3 more per month more for an "all club" membership (meaning you can visit any 24 Hour Fitness). THE BEST PART is that you don't have to sign a contract!!! You do have to pay the first month and last month membership fees but NO CONTRACTS!!! Sorry I am so excited about this but I HATE CONTRACTS!
They are also running a special right now that waives the initiation fee (not sure what that fee is but they aren't charging it at the moment).
I did not join on Friday, it was just way too crazy in the building and I wasn't ready to make a commitment but I do see myself joining very soon.
I hope this review helps explain the gym to anyone who hasn't been there yet. On the 24 hour fitness website you can search by zip code and find this gym. They just updated their site with pictures of the building and inside so you can see all the different areas and equipment without actually having to visit the location in person. -
Review from Angela B.
This is definitely the best gym I've checked out! Way better than All Star Fitness or LA Fitness, which are also more pricey. I only wished that I lived in Issaquah & that my 24-Hour Fitness Costco membership included this club!
for anyone that is serious about weight lifting, this gym is a *dream come true*. There are loads of weights, weight benches, and weight machines. At the other gyms I am always searching for weights & have to use the wrong ones because the ones I need are missing. They are all brand new & none of them missing! I tried out machines I've never seen before, it was so exciting!
The cardio machines are basically the same as the other 24-Fit clubs, except they are new. A few of them had their own personal TV & it hooks up to the I-Phone/I-Pod, so I charged my phone & did some yelping/surfing the internet while walking on the treadmill. Now that was a rush!
The locker rooms are nice & they have towel service. I truly think all gyms should have towel service! They also have a swim suit dryer, which again I think is a *must have*. The locker room was still small enough that every time I went ot my locker I bumped into the people in the lockers near me, but I guess that always seems to happen.
The pool is nice & actually warm (unlike the downtown club). However it only has three lanes. Now right now the club is still new & doesn't have that many members, but I imagine when the club gets full this will be a problem. The sauna & steam room were both real nice & clean (love new clubs). The hot tub was just o.k. I got a rash right after the hot tub, and think maybe it was from that.
The showers in the locker room are super nice. They have doors & everything! There is also a little space that you can put your toiletries & stuff on in the shower, or if you were elderly/disabled you could sit on it while showering.
Definitely going to come back while it's still free for me to use! I hope they build one of these clubs in Ballard, I keep hearing rumors that that may happen. -

Great gym for the price! Only problem is, it gets super crowded and you have to wait for equipment especially when all of the "Resolutions" begin.

I've been a member for less then a week, so these are just my initial thoughts...
TVs: I love all the TVs and I love being able to hook my iPhone up to the screen to watch a movie or TV show - although I haven't exactly figured out how to do that yet...
Price: The price was reasonable ($48 a month for an individual one location membership)
Lockers: I love that there are lockers in the workout area so you can lock up just your purse, jacket, whatever else you have on you but you don't have to go into the locker rooms to do that if you don't need to.
Sauna/ Steam Room/ Swimming Pool: I also like that they have a sauna and a steam room. I've heard complaints about the 3 lane swimming pool, which I understand, but I probably won't ever use that so it doesn't really bother me.
The Crowd: I also like the crowd, I am a 24 year old girl, and it is mostly families (parents, high schoolers...), and also 20 somethings too.
I get out of work at 1pm so I haven't checked it out during the afterwork time but so far they have so many machines I can't imagine them being packed when I am there
Some of the things that made me choose 24 hour fitness over another local gym: There reasonable price (I also waited for a special so I wouldn't have to pay the initial sign up fee), all their classes are included in your monthly fee, and they have pilates classes multiple times a week, free towel use, lots of machines, and lots of tvs on the machines, and the people who go there.
I can't wait to start losing weight! -

Nice facility with friendly people, but the membership pricing has gone through the roof. I paid $299 one year ago for a one year membership, and am now being asked to pay $549 to renew the same membership for one year. This is an 80% increase in price year over year ??? I have heard of inflation, but give me a break...

I have been at this gym for about 5 months and love it. The equipment is well-maintained. Nothing is ever really down for very long. Many gyms are the opposite from my experience.
I would give a 5-star, but the front desk is a little on the slow side. Quality customer service is lacking. I always feel like I'm being sized up rather than approached with a friendly and helpful attitude - no smiles, just blank stares.
The classes are great. The instructors really know what they are doing and know how to engage even the new-comers while keeping things challenging. One instructor I really like is MARISA. She rocks.
I love having the opportunity of joining classes, going swimming in a clean pool without kids running all over the place, but would rather have a private sauna rather than co-ed.
Training is another great aspect about the gym. My trainer, PAUL, really kicks my butt and truly cares about my personal success. You can really see his passion and experience. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be this close to my goals. He knows what it takes and how to help me get there. I have lost 20 pounds during the last 8 weeks and a few more to come!
All in all, great gym and excellent location! -
Review from Clara M.
Sammamish, WA
I work out here quite a bit and think it's great. The floor is very spacious, there are windows and everything is well lit. A very large kids club for child drop-off during your workout is an added bonus. Equipment is brand new and seems more "state of the art" than most I have used. I also don't find this gym very crowded considering the area, another bonus. No wait for anything. Get in and out without a hassle. Staff are professionally nice but leave you alone.
My only complaints are that members do not re-rack their weights in this gym. How is someone supposed to lift 5 plates of 45 lb. weights with a sore back, or who is elderly, or who might not be capable of lifting that amount? Other gyms have signs up to rerack weights or have staff doing it. Also, bathrooms/locker rooms/showers are the dirtiest I have ever seen in a gym. The YMCA is cleaner which is not the gold standard believe me. Large masses of hair all over the floor and in the shower.......??? Bathrooms/showers/ locker rooms definitely need to be cleaned on a more regular basis. -

I was a member of the 24 hour fitness in West Seattle well over 10 years so I was a bit dubious about joining again, but they really have gotten much better over the years. I frequent this one a lot as well as the Kent Kangley one. It's a nice year old facility. Everyone here is VERY helpful, even the other gym members. They are always willing to help you out if you don't know a certain machine works etc. I would have given this 5 stars as I really do think the gym is fabulous but my experience with 1 member of staff when I forgot my locker combination caused me to dish out 4. It won't stop me from going or even forgetting my combination again, next time I'll make sure I choose to ask a different member. Other than that the gym is extremely clean and always well stocked. There are a LOT of classes to choose from at various times. I do wish howver they offered WIFI...

I just joined this gym in July. It is my first experience with 24 Hour Fitness, so these are my initial impressions.
Pros: Brand new super-clean facility. Lots of space, lots of light, all of your basic gym equipment for cardio, stength training, etc. It has a really big spinning room compared to other gyms that I have been to and a big exercise studio for yoga, pilates, and cardio/strength training classes. They also have a basketball court for those who are into that sort of thing. I have heard peple complain that the pool is too small, but I just moved from a large east coast city where many gyms don't even have pools, so it seems pretty nice to me. Clean locker rooms, changing rooms, towel service. It has never been crowded when I've been here and I have gone at all times of the day, both during the week and on weekends. They have a lot of classes although I wish that they had more pilates classes (I think they only have three and they are all during weekdays) and the instructors are all pretty good.
Cons: Terrible customer service. The front desk people seem very nice, but they can't answer any basic questions about anything. The managers aren't much better. Don't get me wrong, they seem like lovely people, but their answer to everything is "That is handled by corporate." Please note that, unlike my gym back east which was also a chain, you cannot actually call corporate for 24 Hour Fitness. You can only attempt to resolve issues with the in-house staff who aren't empowered to do much of anything. Their billing system seems to have a lot of glitches in it that no one knows how to diagnose or resolve and no one there seems to understand the concept of active listening (i.e. not interrupting your customer when they talk).
On a more minor note, it bothers me that I cannot rent a locker by the month here. The locker room doesn't have hair conditioner (just shampoo and body wash in the showers), moisturizer, kleenex, or blow dryers, so I have to schlep everything in and out with me whenever I come to the gym. Also, they don't have exercise/yoga mats, just these short little foam boards, so I have to bring a mat with me as well. The trunk of my car is now a default locker for my gym stuff. And it would also be nice if the front desk people could remember who I am. I have to show photo ID every time I go in and I work out three to five times a week and see the same pople working there every time. Maybe they are told that they have to check photo ID, in which case why don't they just put members' photos on their membership cards?
Anyway, I put up with this place since I live in Issaquah and it is close by, meets my basic needs, and is (relatively) low priced. It is a good gym if you are self-motivated, stay on top of your account, and know what you need to do and how to do it. Just be aware that you won't get a lot of hand-holding from the staff here. -

love this gym!! it's a big deal since i normally do not workout. so here's the deal....great staff and very friendly individuals...each time i check in they know me by name before i reach the counter ...next, the gym is very clean, and this is a big deal for me! child center (since i have my daughter go to it while i am in zumba, muscle blast, or even on the liptical maching) machines, walkways, bathrooms, showers, pool, sauna, steam room are CLEAN...you get the picture. don't forget the free towel service and they even provide shampoo and body wash! most of all the classess are AMAZING! even you have never loved or even liked working out...you need to check out this gym. througout my teen and adult life i have never committed working out. i've been here since they opened up last feb..but it wasn't till late august i got in the groove. since them i've lost weight and kept it off all on my own. if you want a great workout...you need to come to the 24 hour fitness in issaquah!
