Review from Anthony P.
San Francisco, CA
First off, I have to begin for those that do not know me and explain a bit about myself.
I am blessed to be in what I would say the top 3%, however, for general opinion I will say 5%. Basically I am a have, have great looks, have a body women wish they could explore and men wish they had my body. Off subject, it is hard to be me and I got to be me through discipline and hard work.
This was the first 24 hour gym I ever experienced and want to say it was five years ago? I work out here at least 4-6 times ever three months when I am in Houston.
It really blew me away, it is huge, (I was not use to 24 hour fitness culture), clean and everything one wanted or needed.
Even on my most recent work outs, just a few weeks ago, place is clean, no broken machines, nice staff and overall good place to work out.
Other important factors are that at this gym, the people are generally attractive and are there to work out not go through the motions.
I have not used their locker room facilities as I return to the hotel and shower.
Bottom line, clean, above average percentage of okay looking people and also above average percentage of people there to work out.
I did not notice the typical sex offenders including rapist, child molesters, etc lurking throughout as you usually find at gyms, then again I do not use the locker rooms. -

I have one thing to say here, because as far as gyms go, with regards to equipment and classes, this one has what you'd expect. My review specifically pertains to the cleanliness of the women's locker rooms and showers, which are filthy. There is no reason why the women's showers should be full of hair by the handful. My co-worker and I (we work in the Galleria and work out on our lunch hour) have even mentioned this issue at the ront desk, and were given the lame excuse that "the janitor is male so he can't enter the female locker room to clean it during the day." Okay then, hire a FEMALE cleaning crew, because the current situation isn't working. I pay 40 bucks a month to work out here, and I expect a little more for my money than this gym provides in the way of cleanliness. Come on, 24 Hour Fitness, you can do better.

I belong to 24 Hour Fitness and this is the first time I've been to this location. I went late in the morning and was surprised by how busy it was. At my usual location late morning is usually pretty quiet and I never have to wait for pieces of equipment. Here, it was busy and being able to find something I wanted to use was hit or miss. Most everything worked and was reasonably clean. There were a few elliptical machines that seemed like they were a little loose and could use some maintenance and tightening. The heart rate monitors didn't work on a couple of them either. The good news is the place is huge and there's a good selection of free weights and machines. Next time I'm in the area I'll go workout here again.

This is one of the nicer 24 hour fitness centers but for some reason I don't come here as often as the other locations.
The gym is very well equipped as far as cardio machines go, perhaps the best or second best in the area. The weight machines on the other hand are not that great selection-wise and the free weight area is usually too crowded.
I think the environment is also not as inviting as the other locations since it's buried deep in a shopping center without a nice view like the one on 610 and richmond and it's not exactly a neighborhood location like the one on Voss. The basketball court is on the small side but its nice to have one at all.
Last, and this is a common gripe for me, they have HDTV's, BUT they receive a standard signal which is stretched out so if i'm watching a game while on a machine, it looks pretty bad. I don't know why in 2011 (going on 2012), 24 hour fitness doesn't request to get HD receivers for their TV's...it can't cost that much more if any. It would add to the enjoyment and distraction of being on a machine more and maybe even push me to stay on another 20 minutes.
All together it's a nice gym, but I just can't figure out why I am not too crazy about the location. -

This seemed to be the prime Galleria location until about a year ago. Then the Richmond mega 24hr opened and some of the crowd left. This happens to be a very good thing, because you can actually move around a little bit in the place even during peak after work hours.
For a slightly older gym, this place is pretty well maintained. It doesn't have everything (like the newer Richmond location), but it is worth it during those gym "rush hours"
Another nice aspect is the fact that they have security in their side parking lot. Plus, I have never had a problem parking here like I do at the Richmond 24hr. -

This is probably the nicer 24 hr fitness I've been to in the Houston area. I do like the Huge Ass Fan which has a picture of a donkey on it. It's like a massive airplane propeller! This 24 doesn't seem to get that crowded when I go at 7 pm or so compared to some of the other gyms I've been to.
It looks pretty new, they have plenty of equipment. Stuff here seems to be broken forever and doesn't get repaired. I hope they get their act together. The cable machines have been broken for the longest time. The water fountains, the same thing. I would give it higher stars if they fixed that stuff, but having all of that broken equipment is just annoying.
The bball court is pretty cool to have.
I've been able to do a good bit of cross training here because of the sweet tvs with radio receivers. I just tune into a tv, watch Law and Order or whatever, and during commercial breaks, I hit the weights. I can hear when the show's back on, so I just go straight to the TV and crank out more cardio or ab work. Rinse, repeat, and in an hour you'll take care of your weights and cardio.
The parking lot has security in the evenings. I feel sorry for that guy when its super humid and hot outside.
My only complaint about this place is its not open late. It closes at midnight, and 10pm on Fri and Sat. -

Seriously, the best maintained, cleanest and best set up of all the 24Hr. Locations in Houston. I live within walking distance of tis one and could not be more pleased with the facility.
Clean lockers and locket room throughout the day, clean and well maintained equipment. Well laid out, very ample cardio equipment, great free weights and -now this is Rare- a friendly and helpful staff. -

I only take Group classes so I cannot comment on equipment but the one and only reason I come to this gym is because two of my favorite instructors teach at this location. As it is an Active, it is definitely smaller than the other 24 Hour locations but at least the Women's locker room is very clean and tidy! It is not busy so if you like to avoid the crowd, then this gym is for you!

So after completing my mini gym crawl I wondered if I had missed any 24s around this area. So I went onto the 24 hr site and found this location.
It was listed as an active so I wasn't expecting much. I was thoroughly surprised. Yes it's small but it had what I needed. There was a full court basketball goals and a active X exercise room.
They had 2 racks of free weights and as far as the machines they had all the basic ones in duplicates.
They had 7 rows of cardio. This location had 3 rowing machines which is more than I have seen at other spots. This place looked new, like a mini version of the one in midtown.Listed in: Houston: Active Life

This gym should be stripped of its "24 Hour" logo as it truly is one of the worst 24-Hour locations I have ever seen. On the website, they show pictures of this beautiful juice bar, pool, and working equipment. Upon arrival, the pool has been closed for an extended period of time for maintenance. The juicebar, or what I should now call as the empty counters and racks in the corner are only an eyesore before you walk out of the door. The Universals have multiple broken cables which have not been fixed in over a few weeks, so if you have hoping to do your chest crossover, forget about it. Also, if you workout in the morning, don't allow the case of supplements / protein bars appease you as they do not have a register open until 9 am...

This 24 Hour location rocks! With full locker facilities, lots and LOTS of new cardio machines, group exercise classes and a basketball court, really the only thing holding this one back from being a Sport is the lack of a swimming pool. But considering I don't swim, I'm not at much of a loss. I've been using this location after work quite a bit, and it's clean, bright and well-outfitted, with pleasant staff and fun niceties like flatscreen TV's (all the other 24 Hour places I go to have Ye Olde Tube Varieties). There's also access from both Chimney Rock and Westheimer so you don't have to scramble too badly to get over to the parking lot. Add it all up, and I'm a happy camper. Viva La 24!
