Review from Tracey S.
Pros:
- super bright parking lot
- spacious shower stalls
- machines in good condition
- 24/7
- diverse people in age and ethnicity
- lots of people in the evenings (like 9:30 pm on a Monday night) which is good motivation for me
- relatively clean for basic gym standards (I was thrilled to see someone was even cleaning the women's locker room at midnight on Monday!)
- friendly front desk staff
- they have a pool, jacuzzi, wet sauna, and dry sauna
- shower stalls are large
Cons
- long walk through workout area from entrance to locker rooms
- restaurants in the same shopping center include Taco Bell and Wings & More
- dry sauna too small for the number of people
- lack of paper towels in the locker room but that seems to be the way with 24 Hour Fitness
- lack of digital scale in women's locker room
- lack of cardio equipment with iPod charging
I'd much rather drive to this 24 Hour Fitness than the Sugar Land location.
This 24 Hour Fitness location is located in a huge shopping center occupying the northeast corner of the Dairy Ashford @ Westheimer intersection. It faces Westheimer and looms behind the Taco Bell. There is also a Goodwill and a Monkey Joe's in that shopping center. You can't miss it. -

This is one of the best gym I've been too. I have a membership with 24 for almost 2 years now and I haven't really consider other options since I'm quite happy with what 24 offer.
Although I hardly go to this location anymore, it's still the very best.
They have everything here and there's always an extra machine for you to use if someone else is on a machine you wanted. The space is huge...absolutely the greatest!
I love their pool, sauna, and jacuzzi area. That's where I do most of my work-out then go into the sauna or jacuzzi to rest/relax for a bit.
It's very clean here and staffs are friendly...I recommend this to everyone! -

I love this gym! It's soooo big and spacious. The women's locker room and bathroom are always clean and well maintained. Staff is helpful and friendly, and so are the members. I like how there are lots of TVs and cardio machines for you to choose from so that getting your cardio done isn't so boring. Machines are rarely ever "out of order," and if so, they're fixed promptly.
They even offer babysitting for parents with young children.
My advice? It's a good quality gym and you sure have to pay the price for it, but wait around to catch a good deal (they exist!) if you're not already a member. -
Review from Lan D.
This is one of my favorite 24 hour fitness locations. Coming from California, land of the mega gym, this Houston branch meets and surpasses my expectations. A large space, friendly staff, and a great variety of machines. There's also a basketball court (that I don't use). The only things that could make this place better are maybe an indoor track, a pool, and a sauna. But if you're just there to lift, get in some cardio or attend a class, this place is tops.

This is definitely one of the best 24 locations! It is spacious and the woman's locker room is huge! There is always an available shower and it is always organized and clean. The best instructors all teach at this gym so schedule a time to check out Kickboxing and Bodypump with Annette and Terry.

If you expect to have a decent workout and not have to worry about creepers and spectators staring you down and sitting on equipment they're not even using, DO NOT come here at night!
The only reason I worked out here was because it was within walking distance of my house. I've had a membership to this 24 for 3 years and it was decent enough for me to go here, but over the past few months, it's just really gone downhill.
I only have time to work out after 9pm, so I expect to just get my workout done, then go home and knock out. Unfortunately here, I can't seem to do that. Call me paranoid and insecure, but I don't appreciate being stared down when I'm minding my own business and trying to get my workout over with. I don't appreciate the fact that every machine I try to go on is taken up by people who either aren't even using the equipment right or just using it because it's a place for them to sit them and watch their friends work out. um HELLO. 24 is a gym. It's a place to work out, NOT hang out with friends.
People don't seem to know gym etiquette here either, the machines are filled with the last person's sweat, there's weights scattered everywhere and not in the right places, and apparently, people don't know how to park in the parking lots. This gym is always crowded at night as well since the people at the front seem to just let anyone walk in without checking in.
Yeah, this place is not for me anymore. Time to move on to lifetime! If I'm willing to go to a gym that's 3 times farther than me over this one, I would think it kinda says a lot about this gym. -

I enjoy working out at this gym. The staff seem friendly and attentive. The facility seems to be well-maintained.
The crowd that frequents this gym is pretty diverse. There are some cute ladies here that motivate me to workout harder lol. -
Review from Sheira H.
I love this gym. It is busy enough so that there is always eye candy but not so busy that you cannot use your machine when you want to. Just 1 pointer, for some reason in the middle of the week late at night there are all sorts of men playing basket ball. They like to get into the hot tub without taking a shower. Avoid the hot tub like the plague late at night its full of nasty germs. Sometimes there is a film on it. The staff is generally nice and the equipment is well taken care of. I should probably be there instead of sitting on the couch writing a review of the gym.

I like it. I've been to quite a few crappy 24 Hour Fitness gyms, that are smaller, stuffier, and with older equipment (mostly in the Los Angeles area though). After that stint, I fully appreciate not having to pay for parking in Houston, plenty of AC, and plenty of ellipticals.
There are some things that keep this gym from being five stars. One is that there are a few machines that are broken. There's at least one elliptical that creaks and groans every time the resistance is adjusted, and quite a few that won't properly calibrate with my Polar heart monitor. Another is that they're constantly out of paper towels and disinfectant, which is pretty annoying. But otherwise, this is my go-to gym. I love hitting it up at 11pm at night when no one's there.
I notice lots of elderly Asians here during the afternoons and stuff. Kinda funny, and makes me want to add my parents onto my membership :) -

This is a nice, clean, and spacious 24 Hour Fitness. The people seem very nice and willing to help. I only go to this location for the awesome Turbokick class with Annette on Tuesdays and Saturdays and I am very happy to make that drive to the other side of town for it.

Sugar Land, TX
Unless you work early or go there to meet with hot dudes/chicks, it wouldn't hurt to go there late at night to early mornings. It's like heaven there when you can just go to ANY machine or ANY station and lift as you please.
It's bothersome when you have to wait for peeps who take their sweet ass time in doing just a single set! -
Review from Long T.
Solid large and clean expansive gym that has a multitude of machines, a basketball court, pool, sauna, steam room, spa, and even racquetball courts. Open 24 hours, this gym serves all of my needs for when I need to workout near the office at night or day. It's too bad there are so many restaurants in the area; otherwise, my workouts would actually make me thinner....

After a 3 month absence from attending yoga classes due to back surgery, I returned this morning to the 24 hour fitness Westchase location eager to begin getting back in shape. It was hard enough to get motivated to drag myself in but an employee named FRANK made me wish I'd stayed home. I wasn't aware of the new fingerprint check-in procedure and proceeded to check in using my ID. Frank was very rude and refused to quickly swipe my card because he was helping another customer. He did not even acknowledge me. So, I left my ID at the front desk so I wouldn't be late for yoga class and said, "that's ok. You're busy. I'll check in after class." I asked my boyfriend who was with me to check in for me and make sure I get my card back. I've had to do this several times when there was a line to check in and no one ever hassled me before. In fact, most of the employees at 24 hour fit. are courteous and go out of their way to be accomodating, thus encouraging you to want to come back and work out again. NOT FRANK!
I went to my class not knowing that FRANK started an argument with my boyfriend. He said he was going to interupt the class and get me to come back to the front desk to do my check-in procedure correctly! He even threatened to interupt the class to have me ESCORTED OUT for not doing things his way!! He spent a long time arguing with my boyfriend, taking up his work out time too! When I finished class, my boyfriend told me what had happened. I went back up to the front desk to talk to FRANK about the incident. He was very rude and conscending with me. I had to ask what his name was because he was not wearing a name tag---VERY unprofessional! I guess he doesn't want anyone to know his name so that he can be rude to the customers and not get written up. Well, I took his name and I intend to file a complaint with the corporate office on Monday. I really don't want to go back to this location until FRANK is gone. He needs to be fired before he does this to some other customer. If you are reading this review about yourself, FRANK, take note: YOU represent 24 hour fitness. It was MY membership that paid your salary! I don't work for you, YOU work for me! You have disgraced a reputable establishment by your unecessarily punitive and degrading treatment of a loyal customer. This review is not the last step, FRANK. Oh no....I will see to it that at the very LEAST, you will be reprimanded and releaved of your duties as a customer service representative. You have NO PLACE working with the public except maybe as a prison wardon or parking lot security. -

I love this gym
It's huge so even when it's crowded, it doesn't feel uncomfortable. There's a variety of classes to choose from, which is the main reason I joined a fitness center anyway. The instructors give you a very vigorous workout. My son has no complaints about the kid space. We both like the smoothies at the juice bar.
The staff is very nice and helpful. The locker room is so clean and spacious.
There are two reasons that I can't give it 5 stars. First while the locker room is very clean the women's toilet area is dirty. I don't want to be graphic so I'll just say that it compares with public restrooms at gas stations, yuck. Also I'm not fond of co-ed sauna and steam rooms, and they are small. Today there was a group of teenage boys playing in the steam room. Very annoying. -

To me this gym qualifies as a Super-Sport. They have everything a super-sport already has. The only thing is it's a 45 minute drive from my house.

I really like this location. I don't use the pool or whirpool, but they have tons of cardio equipment and it's never difficult or a long wait to use the other equipment. The only gripe is the ladies bathroom is disgusting. They need to clean it more often. I won't even change my clothes in it. I change at work to avoid it.

This location is closer to my house. I love how it's HUGE and u can actually breathe when u workout here rather than the Westchase location. Parking lot is convenient and has lights that do actually work after 6pm. Toilets and change rooms are always clean, in my books that is a thumbs up but maybe because it's the fact that it's a newly renovated location.
The only complains I do have is the Saturday 10am kickboxing class. The room is always hot n the humidity in there is like 100+ and the a/c does not seem to be working since it's overcrowded. The class is so popular that it is always jammed packed therefore you can't breathe and you can't get a full workout cos it's always overcrowded. Also due to the humidity in the room the floors gets slippery and your workout gets dangerous cos you have the risk of getting getting hurt.
Several people have complained to the manager however nothing has been done about it. The a/c needs to be put up because even when there is just 8 ppl in a class the room is still hot. For classes that are overcrowded they need to put a rule in place that u can a number to whatever the max the room can take and if you are late or the number runs out then too bad u can't take the class.
Staff here is nice as friendly as the Westhemier location.
