Review from Audrey H.
Pros: The staff is pretty nice. I like training with my personal trainer. My girls like the kid's club. A proper place to get healthy!
Cons: Not too clean. Machines need to be maintained better. -
Review from J M.
Richardson, TX
I've been going to this gym consistently for a year now. A little about me to get a feel for my use of the gym. I'm a 29 year old male with a focus on running, biking, and swimming. I've visited most of the 24 hour fitness locations from Dallas to up north in Frisco/Allen and west to Irving. My gym perspective is that I just go in, get work done, and leave - I'm not looking for a nice place, fitness center, spa, health club, or resort, I just need a gym - and with that perspective this location so far has been the best for my purposes.
Locker Room
Lockers are decent, not brand new but definitely not old like some locations. One complaint is that the restroom is almost always disgusting and in need of some serious ventilation or a fan. Another complaint is the shower room, there are no curtains / doors covering each shower spot. When they do put curtains up they are really cheap and torn off or unusable within a week. I've been to other gyms that have higher quality curtains and a much better shower setup.
Spin Room
Love the spin room! Outside of class times it is always empty and I can point the big floor fan directly at myself. Much better spin room than other locations, it's dark, quiet, there are a lot of stations, and most are in fairly good condition. While these spinners are much better than the electronic ones outside of the spin room one drawback is that the seats weren't installed all that level. This means certain man parts will go to sleep if you don't come up out of the saddle every 10 minutes. I'm thinking about bringing my tools & leveler and fixing the one i usually use :)
Treadmill
Great cardio area at this location. The cardio area has a large fan circulating air cooling off the cardio area much better than other locations. I've never had to wait on a machine and for the most part they work. No complaints.
Pool
Gym pools in general are really gross unless your gym has a saltwater pool and is well maintained. This location has a chlorine pool, and I think a really strong chlorine pool. The chlorine ate through my Nike chlorine resistant jammers, can leave me smelling of chlorine even after 3 showers, and dries out my skin pretty bad. On the plus side, the chlorine probably kills all of the germs in the water! This location has the best pool temperature of the 24's I've visited (cold enough you don't overheat), is the cleanest, seems to be level, and actually has real swimmers/triathletes using the pool.
Overall, while there are things they need to work on (i.e., restroom, shower, bike seat angle, chlorine), for the price and features they do offer for the runner, biker, and swimmer I do recommend this gym and this location. -

Lewisville, TX
This gym is not a great as I thought it would be since it is the Magic Johnson 24 Hour. The cardio area is small and blocked in by a stationary wall.
The sauna/pool area is satisfactory. It is not well lit like some other locations.
The locker room is not well maintained. On several visits a toilet has been out of service.
The Group X room is not well ventilated. It is always extremely hot in this room and the sound system is not that great. Ceiling fans would be an asset to this room. I do like the mirrors around the Group X room.
I visit this location once a week only for Gaby's Danceaton class.
The kids club staff is always free and they open on time every Saturday. My son likes to attend this kids club and always leaves with a work product. I would suggest adding kids fitness classes on this day since it is the busiest day of the week for this location.
Overall, this gym needs an upgrade. -

Parking ALWAYS has broken glass.
Parking lot usually has meth heads.
Kinda crusty.
I don't touch the pool.
I don't go in the locker room.
Kinda crowded.
HALF the cardio machines don't work properly.
The only thing I use this place for is weights. Once a week. On Sunday morning, when 98% of Dallas is busy praising Jesus. Not too crowded during Jesus time. Thanks Jesus! -

Dallas, TX
This is the most disgusting gym I've ever seen in my life. I wish I could give it no stars, but Yelp won't give me that option.
First off, I have belonged to Lifetime Fitness since 2008. It is a fantastic but expensive place. When I moved to Dallas, I obviously started going to their Mockingbird station location, but found out that it was unfortunately not open 24 hours (like all the other locations I had gone to). So I thought, 24 Hour Fitness gives 7 day trial passes and it's kind of close to my apartment, so why not.
I wish I hadn't.
I got my trial pass yesterday, but I wasn't feeling well and the sick rubber smell from the floors or whatever overpowered me, so I didn't stay for a workout. Plus the locker room was cringe-worthy, and I didn't feel like spending fifty cents on a filthy locker for my stuff (do you really have to do that every time you go?) I did check out the lap pool and showers... both looked bacteria and or mold-ridden and I decided then and there that I'd rather not. The never-er the better.
Tonight I decided to go and try out some of the cardio machines. I still belong to LTF, but they close at 9 on Sundays (so sad.) So here's the play-by-play of The Worst Gym Experience Ever. I drive up to 24 Hour and 70% of the lights in the letters in the sign are out. Not a big deal, but put some pride into your appearance... I mean, this is a gym, after all. It just made it look kind of ghetto.
I sign in and some front desk guy tries to make small talk and ends up making a homophobic comment to me. Um, okay. Try to ignore, continue on. I get on an elliptical machine and the thing feels rickety and like it isn't properly bolted into the floor or even sufficiently bottom-heavy. And the machine is running time remaining, not time elapsed, and I try to change it, but the button is broken. I don't feel like doing math, and it feels like it's going to fall over, so I switch to some other elliptical machine. I try to lower the incline. The machine flashes on it's screen that it can't change the incline. Low battery. And it dies. Next elliptical. Okay, this one works alright. The button to switch from strides to distance is broken, but I was over it. Third time's a charm, I guess.
Side note: during my three attempts at the elliptical, there were two girls sitting on the only two row machines. Not rowing. Then they moved to ellipticals. Not elliptical-ing. Just standing there. Watching the Cowboys game. Why come to the gym? I know this isn't the gym's fault, but LTF and other gyms I've been to have people who care about fitness... I didn't realize how nice it is to have people around you who inspire you to work harder, look better, run faster, train stronger... did you see what I just did there? Durr.
After the elliptical tragedy, I tried the stepmill. There are four stepmills, two are out of order. Twentieth eye-roll of the night commences. The two that are functional are rusted, ripped apart, dirty, and absolutely covered in dried sweat. Salty drips covering the sides of the machine look like they have been crusted on for ages. GAG. I took pictures. I will send them to you if you don't believe me. I thought, okay, I will try it IF I clean the living sh*t out of it first. Guess what? NO PAPER TOWELS IN THE DISPENSERS. It was the last straw. I didn't use the stepmill. I couldn't get out of there fast enough. I will not be going back. EVER. -

Great classes, fave energetic and kicks your bootay trainer is Brandace for Nike Training Club on Tuesday nights. The schedule works well with lots of people's times.
Downfall is location is so convenient for people who work around there, so I've been at all times, early morning, late nights and it is always packed. Walking from the parking lot is definitely going to be your warm-up because the parking lot is always packed.
Staff is always great about greetings and humor. Always see kids happy to go to the Kid's Club. Lots of dudes pumping iron if you're into that. So get to it and just sweat it out! -

Dallas, TX
Dirtiest gym I have ever been to! And I have been to many. Even the men at this location complain their bathroom is filthy! The bathrooms are utterly disgusting, and when I finally saw a cleaning person cleaning them, she was in open toe high heeled sandals and was cleaning the toilets with her bare hands! The weights are never re-racked and you cannot ever find any dumbbells that are under 25 pounds because people take them far away from the dumbbell rack and do not replace them nor does the staff. The gym etiquette there is horrible too. No one bothers to put away anything. And the staff does not care about anything, except one woman who works on Tues & Friday nights. It is always pretty crowded in there even late at night. Although there is a decent selection of equipment, most of it is broken down and has yet to be fixed and is also dirty (especially the cardio equip). I have found another location which is far better.

looking to find a new gym. would be about $36 each for me and my husband. Ok Cool. But WAIT they want us to pay $40/MONTH for our 6 month old BABY on the off chance we bring him in. REALLY!?

I like this gym since it's a 24 hour fitness sport. They have my favorite treadmill here. Staff is friendly but beware it stays busy.

Update: they have solved the torn shower curtain problem by simply removing the shower curtains. Uh.... no. That wasn't what I had in mind, guys.

Currently, the most convenient gym to me. And about a million other people because it gets packed out at peak times. Too obvious right?
I totally dig the huge ceiling fans they have in the cardio and weight areas. When you first start working out, it nearly feels cold because of them.
Nothing really stands out in this location for me, so I can get in, sweat, get out. -

Overall this gym is pretty similar to most other 24hr gyms..
However this gym gets 5 stars for having danceaton classes and 1 star for having a SUPER HOT group x group with a terrible sound system. Get some FANS or fix the AC!! -

This is my favorite gym, but I'm afraid it's slipping into third-world status...
This is what the pool looked like today (Sunday). There was no warning sign not to enter...it was really filthy. I came all the way up from Oak Cliff to do laps, but not in this pool....
There are other issues, too, but too gross to mention. I talked to the manager about such, but he said, pretty much, that people are piggish.
Hard to disagree.... -
Review from Joseph B.
I've seen better gyms, but I choose to frequent this location because it's so close to home.
They've got plenty of cardio machines, but some of them seem to never be in working condition. Kind of a hassle to wait and watch for a free machine, when you need to get your workout in before starting your night.
I'm really only interested in doing the cardio here because you know it sucks balls to run outside in the Texas heat. -

Yaaayyy for people working out in their make up.
Not a gym person, nor will I ever be. Luckily enough of my friends believe themselves to be one I don't have to pay to frequent such places = free guest pass. -
Review from Sarah P.
*Before I start I must say that 24 hr fitness is my gym. I'm very happy with 24 hr fitness but I'm not too impressed with this particular location.
I travel 15 miles one way to take Gaby's Danceaton and that is the only reason I visit this location...for a one hour class once a week.
The speakers in the Group X room need repair, the ventilation is horrible, two little fans on the floor are no help. Ceiling fans would be nice.
The kids club hours state they are open at 9, so when I had to take my son with me I knew I would be a few minutes late to my 9 am class. I arrived about 10 minutes before 9 to be the first in line, but when the kids club was still dark at 9 am and no one in sight to open it up, I started to get nervous that I traveled all that way for nothing.
As other parents and kids lined up behind me. I called the gyms main number (while staying in line as to not lose my spot) and they confirmed the kids club opened at 9 and the girl would "probably be here soon" which was not very reassuring. The person did show up late and not very friendly. It was a little chaotic as all the parents were anxious to sign in their kids. I do understand we are all human and things happen to all of us that make us late on occasion. I will say this has only happened once that I know of, but mainly because I haven't taken my son with me again.
I will continue to visit this location as long as they offer Gaby's Danceaton class. It would be nice to see some improvement to the Group X room.
I will end on a good note, the locker rooms have always been clean and in order. -
Review from Megan S.
This is my favorite 24 Hour location! I will try not to gush too much about it.
Why does the space that one works out in matter? I don't know. But to start with- that's one of the things I love about this place. The high ceilings, wide aisles, everything seems super clean. It just feels fresh and is the kind of place I want to go to get sweaty.
Once you get over it, and are ready to work out- there are lots of options. Cardio machines out the wazoo. No waiting around here. No settling on the stair climber when you really wanted the elliptical. You get what you want here. The weight area is h-u-g-e. I likey! The class area is no bigger than anywhere else- but like the others, has lots of mirrors for visual feedback. I believe this location has a pool- but I have not used that.
This is not a place I get to go to on weekdays, because of my phobia of sitting on Central with claustrophobia from the amount of vehicles around me. But every weekend, I am here and loving it. Yay for working out! -
Review from Aly Y.
This gym is huge. There's a machine for everyone, even when it's super crowded.
It usually pretty clean, and the staff is nice and helpful. They have a bunch of class offerings, and just for being a member, you can attend any of them.
They recently did away with their membership card system, so now you just have to type in your phone number and scan your finger. Much easier and quicker than the last system.
Of course, as seen in the name, it's open 24 hours. It's really crowded around 6-730, but if you go closer to 9, you're in the clear. -
Review from Emily C.
I have commitment issues. Yep, even when it comes to gyms. But if I had to choose, this 24 Hour Fitness is my preferred location. It's got high ceilings and a really huge fan, which means better air circulation. They have newer elliptical machines than the Mockingbird location, and a bigger group X fitness room. Granted, a few of the weight machines could be replaced, and it's really crowded after work, but what gym isn't?
Also, parking is not a problem here as it's in a shopping plaza just off 75 with plenty of spaces.Listed in: Lookin' real good

Review from Leigh P.
After careful consideration and careful interwebs message board surfing, I decided I really want a BodyBugg. Yes, it's the thing that the fat people on The Biggest Loser wear... but it's also the most accurate way to measure your daily caloric burn (and thus measure your calorie deficit). And being a little OCD about most things, diets included, I decided that this was the best thing to help me in my little diet endeavors.
I considered ordering one online but I'm the type that wants instant gratification when I decide I want to buy something so I called up this location of 24 Hour Fitness and ask if they had any on hand so I could just go buy it from there. A dude, Ruben, answered the phone and confirmed that yes, they had a whole lot of them and to come on by. I told him I would be there around 4 and he said he'd be there and to ask for him.
I head there first after leaving work. I parked and went in and asked for Ruben. The girl and dude (the dude with a growing out faux-hawk) at the counter shrugged and said "Nope! he's not here, he's gone for the day". I mumbled something back through clenched teeth along the lines of, "Well, that's really great because I'm here to buy a BodyBugg and he said he'd be here at this time and to ask for him and I always know better than to trust what anybody says but I came here like a fool when I said I would be here because I expect when someone says they'll do something they'll do it and it's why I do things I say I am going to do too...."! I think I did really good because I think I totally refrained from cussing.
Then they said "Oooh, you're here for a BodyBugg... hold on". And they called him up to the front. WTF dude? They just said, not 20 seconds earlier, that he was GONE for the day. He came up, I got what I wanted, paid, and was out the door in about 3 more minutes.
Shyster 24Hour firntess and their lying, shyster front desk people. No wonder I don't work out there anymore :-/
I'm giving them 2 stars because I got what I came for but I'm wavering to a 1 because I despise dishonesty. -

A pretty big place, but there's really nothing special about it. But nothing really wrong either.
You have to watch out for the headphone jacks on the cardio machines - not all of them work. But they did just add 9 new flat screens. Lots of machine weights. -

This gym has the hugest ceiling fan I've ever seen. It's like an enormous propeller. I love it!!!
I have an all-club membership, and this is my favorite club in Dallas. The cardio is sectioned off from the weights area by a large mirrored wall. Above the mirrors are very large TVs, so I can go into a zone of distraction and not realize how tired and sore I'm getting. The free weight area is well organized and has plenty of benches. It's not too crowded, so you can stand facing the mirror and not feel like you're totally blocking someone else from getting what they need. Not that it matters to most people, but this gym has 3 calf machines (seated, free-motion, and standing). They don't have a hack squat machine; however, they do have multiple leg-press and smith press available.
Unlike Mockingbird, the Royal Lane location has a whirlpool/hot tub, which is great for post-workout relaxation. If you're a basketball player, this could be a good gym for you since there are games going on all the time on the courts here. It is, afterall, the "Magic Johnson Sport"!!
As for value, I'd say 24-hour Fitness is pretty competitive. They have a ton of convenient locations, and I've found every gym clean and in good repair. As I said in my other reviews, I paid up-front for a 3 year membership good at all clubs, and it ended up being about $30/month. When I renew after my 3 years are up, it's only going to be $50/year. I'm sure that deal isn't available all the time, but I know they run specials a lot.Listed in: Stay Healthy!

I love working out here because there's tons of equipment (and televisions!), everything's clean, and the crowd is decent. I've never had that cinema gym experience - where you lift 10000 lb weights and get a date with a stranger. And I'm very thankful for that.
I can work at whatever pace I want without feeling pressured to impress. There is everyone from the human cheetah to elderly people flexing their joints. Also I haven't seen any creepy guys staring at girls' butts on the treadmills. It seems everyone's there simply to work out.
I've never tried any other gyms but I really like mine! -

Ghetto gym. Lockers rooms are filthy, do not take valuables or leave anything in car. Vagrants usually in parking lot wanting money, while I still belonged to it there was an attempted rape in parking lot. (really). Do not use pool it is not heated and usually not balanced correctly. Take you hard earned dollars elsewhere, there are too many other choices to bother with this gym.

I've been a member of 24 Hour for going on 4 years now & this was the gym I started with back in the day. Though I try out a lot of other locations, I somehow end up here anyway.
I really like the pool area here because its large and well maintained. It has a 25 yard lap pool with 3 spacious lanes. Some of the other locations have narrow lanes, which make it difficult to share lanes during peak swim times. I've never seen the pool extremely dirty & that is a relief given how many people jump in & out of it everyday. My swim partner & I can easily share a lane without worrying about being in the way or running each other over. The sauna and steam rooms are nice, though super hot. Yes, I know that is the point, but sometimes its a little much. And most of the people that use them are kind enough to share the benches and not be bothersome while you're trying to relax. This gym definitely is my favorite as far as the pool / sauna facilities go.
I've never really fallen in love with the group classes here, but theres a wide variety to try if you're new. The weight lifting area is massive and you rarely have to wait for a machine. There are also multiple options so you don't get stuck in the exact same routine everytime you lift. I like that there are wide aisle ways, too. Makes it perfect for high traffic times or if you need to do some lunges across the gym and don't want to be in the way.
The cardio area also has a lot of machines so you're not standing around waiting for someone to finish, even during rush hour. Theres 6 TVs (I think) for you to choose from which helps if you've parked yourself on a machine for an hour. Every now & then you'll catch them during an off period and some of the machines won't be working. I haven't seen it happen a ton, but be prepared anyway. At least there are numerous types of machines to choose from: treadmills, ellipticals, stair climbers, two styles of bikes, etc. Should keep you busy!
A while back, they installed two massive fans - one above the cardio area & one above the weight area. These have made a huge difference in the circulation of the place, so yay for that. Most of the staff here is helpful & friendly, but beware of the few that are complacent or uninterested. This is my home gym & I just can't quit visiting! -
Review from Nadine F.
This isn't the best 24-Hour Fitness in town, but it's not horrible either. They have pretty much everything you need, but in many cases, the quality is poor.
The treadmills are terrible. Each one seems to have something wrong with it. The stationary bikes are really old and rickety. The Stairmasters are decent, and the ellipticals are great, better than any of the other locations I've been to.
The weight machines leave much to be desired. They're not very ergonomic, and many of them are just old and don't work that well anymore.
On the plus side, the parking lot is really well-lit, so it's probably one of the safer locations if you're going to work out at night. Also, they let me park my scooter on the sidewalk and chain it to the bike rack where I can see it from inside.
Overall, I really prefer the downtown 24-Hour Fitness, but I'll probably continue to return to this one since it's closer to home. -
Review from Reba G.
The only reason I come here is for one class, and that is danceaton with Gaby Saturday morning. The group x has ZERO VENTILATION, and it feels like I'm working out in a sauna. Only one side of the speaker works. There are some serious maintenance that needs get done at this gym. I don't think one floor fan is going to cut it.

Nice, big 24hr Fitness w/ the Magic Johnson theme. A wall separates the weights and cardio areas. Lots of macines, basketball court, pool, wet and dry saunas, group x room and a seperate spin room.
Some of the 24s (such as Cedar Hill) have a combined group x and spin room. Spin folks are used to coming in early to make sure we get a bike, and having the dedicated spin room means you don't have to wait for the dance class to finish to go pick out your bike. It also means they can offer more spin classes!
No towel service at this one. Large women's locker room with the deep/wide lockers. My luggage lock fit fine on the locker. Two things I could like to see at this one: A) a swimsuit dryer like they have in Grand Prairie; B) shower facilities like downtown Dallas (with a place to sit your clothes, razor, etc.....not just a couple of hooks outside the shower). -

This location is really convenient so its really easy to use 75 to access it after 9 or 10 for late workouts. This one is open 24 hours all weekdays also.
The equipment is fair - not the newest weight machines but they work fine, and the treadmills have seen better days but they are used heavily. Ellipticals are my thing and they're usually free and working fine any time of day or night.
The staff is hit or miss - Ive had a few personal trainers over the years and the best one was at this location.
I highly recommend getting multi-location membership deals at 24 also, so you can pick and choose your favorite location (or even visit others when out of town) -

This is one of the more vile 24 Hour locations I've visited. 1/3 of the cardio machines were broken (no exaggeration). 1/2 of the mens' locker room showers were closed (again, no exaggeration). The weights area was dirty and dusty. This gym is simply showing its age. Ick. I'll stick to my usual 24 Hour location.

You get what you pay for. This is a mediocre gym and facility. Not in a very good area. I have seen car windows broken out because it is in a bad area. Most of the people who use this gym are ghetto.
Equipment is decent and it is a large building which is nice.
Locker rooms are nasty and look to never be really cleaned. Showers are nasty and you can tell the facility is getting old.
Had someone try to break my lock while I was in the shower as well.
