Review from Anthony G.
Pittsburgh, PA
This was absolutley the biggest and most beautiful gym I have ever been to. They have an abundance of trainers that walk around constantly and a million machines. They actually have like 4 of the same kind of machines except different brands. Basketball courts, swimming pool, and kids room. This place is amazing.

I must admit that I feel a little silly to be posting a review about a gym so don't judge me. First things first, as the name implies, it is open 24 hours and this was one of the main reasons I became a member especially since I often go through bouts of insomnia. I think I went to the gym at 4am one day about a year ago....
Anyway, the gym is one of the cleanest I have been in and the staff is pleasant enough. The instructors (shout outs to Erika and Mitzi) are amazing and actually help you work on your fitness goals. It seems so basic but not all gyms seem to understand this principle.
The personal trainers are pretty good and I got to observe a few of them before signing up for some sessions. I work out with Maurice and the workouts are never boring. I only wish the prices for personal training sessions were a little more affordable. -

Over the years I've been a member of about 7 or 8 different gyms, and this is by FAR the best I've been too. It's clean, offers a ton of options for working out (classes, machines, etc.), and the staff is very friendly!
My 3 yr old LOVES the Kids Club, which is such a relief for me b/c I know he's having fun and making friends while I work out. -

What are you doing? Why would you go anyplace else? The people at 24 couldn't make it any easier, healthier or more well supported. The gym is great and the staff are so knowledgeable. Trust them and give it a try.

My observations are from using their free 7 day pass:
Pluses:
* new facilities. The locker rooms are reminiscent of spas (minus the massage). Everything is clean and properly maintained. Plenty of towels (I went during the evenings).
* Great equipments. Lots of options to work on different areas of the body. Machines have individual TVs and ipod plug-ins.
* a good sized indoor swimming pool (2 lanes)
* nice sauna and steam room
* Located in a new shopping plaza convenient to Whole Foods, Target, restaurants and boutiques.
Minuses:
* I was not wild about my class experience -- it wasn't bad, but it wasn't what it could have been. Specifically, I went to a yoga class. The instructor was nice, but her primary function was to call out poses. She had the lights turned way down, and didn't walk around to check/correct our postures. There isn't a separate class for novices and advanced students, so that the offered class is not quite right for either group. The loud thumps from the basketball court adjacent to the classroom distracted my attention. The mat provided for the class was thinner and more meager than those found in other yoga studios.
* This is a pushy company. In 2 weeks, I've gotten 3 phone calls and multiple email messages. I suspect that if I ended up choosing another gym, I'll have to set up a spam filter for 24hourfitness.
Despite the constant phone/email attack, the fitness center feels sort of impersonal and "corporate." That's not necessarily a bad thing. If you are primarily directing your own workout plans and just need the facilities to do so, this place offers a good venue for the price. If you are looking for someone to guide you and give you insightful feedback, you might have to keep on looking. -

As an update, the equipment is still great, but 24 Hour Fitness has too many members! Don't even try to get on a treadmill or elliptical from 4-6pm on the weekdays. Very crowded and busy except for Sundays.

This Gym is like a VIP type of the most 24 hour fitness that I ever been in too. I very much like it here. They just recently open and all the equipments are all brand new. And the stuff are all friendly.

This is a great gym. Very nice equipment. I haven't really taken advantage of the classes, but they are usually pretty full, so I'll assume they are good. The locker rooms are generally clean My only complaint is the lack of consistency of having towels available. I generally go during peak hours and have had to wait for clean towels to be delivered so I can take a shower. Many more times there are no smaller towels available on the floor to use during your workout. Not a huge deal, but just annoying. They just implemented a cardless check in, so you just enter a code and it scans your finger. Maybe its the germa-phobe in me, but who knows what someone was just doing with their finger prior to putting it on the scanner. Luckily, they've got a Purell dispenser on the wall. Problem solved.

24 Hour Fitness Annapolis is a beautiful facility that is well equipped, well staffed and immaculately clean. We have two children who have never been big fans of the other local gym's "kids clubs" and love visiting here every day. The kids club will get crowded and very busy during popular group fitness classes, but they are NEVER understaffed and have an efficient system going, so if there is a wait it is not for long.
As for the group classes, I have yet to take one I did not like. The spinning classes are my personal favorite. With that said, the yoga classes are not as spiritual as you might find at Yoga studios. If you are a yoga-junkie like me, you may be better off getting your fix elsewhere. The yoga classes are good, bus I felt they were geared more toward fitness than the holistic approach many Yoga studios live and breathe by.
The equipment is well-maintained and has up-to-date technology - I love being able to watch my personal tv/charge my iPod/take a personal spinning ride etc.
The locker rooms and shower areas at 24Hr are beautiful; clean, stocked with shower towels, soap and shampoo for after workout bathing. A definite "spa" feel to it all. Top notch in every way.
Yes, there are busy times of the day, but 24 Hour is no more crowded than other facilities in the Annapolis area.
Finally, I cannot tell you how much I appreciated not being hassled by a salesperson trying to up-sell me. The entire membership process from start to finish was a snap. -

This is a very nice gym. The staff is always nice and they have a lot of equipment. It is a good value too for the money.
