Everyone and their mamas have been to this place, except for me and my boo.  We were headed to Quoc Bao to get some banh mi, but we realized how close we were to 24/7 tacos, so we decided to finally try this joint.

3 tacos with beans and rice for 5.49 is an ok deal.  It's not overly expensive or dirt cheap.  What i like about this place is that they do fill your tacos up.  You get a nice amount of meat.  I opted for the barbacoa, pastor, and carnitas while my boo got the carnitas, pollo, and barbacoa.  Every meat was flavorful and tender.  The boo didn't really like the carnitas cause it was overly greasy, but what do you expect when true carnitas is cooked in lard?  I enjoyed everything and the fresh cilantro, onion, and lime bar was nice.  Completely cold and fresh, make sure you top your tacos with a nice amount of them.

I've eaten here twice now and both times the tacos were literally dripping (no, soaked) with grease - seriously.

The food is "authentic" enough for a suburban gringo gas station taco excursion but damn,  I just can't get past the grease.

Be careful of the plate pricing - adding beans and tasteless rice is expensive - it is much cheaper to just buy the greasy tacos a la carte (if you dare).

Also, the drinks are very expensive and "1 size".  Yes, that's a big damn cup of soda but the "No Re-Fills" posted signs on the open fountain machine are just plain dumb and it further lessens the experience.

In short, cut the grease by 99%, lower the drink prices and have free refills - that might get you 3 stars but really, there are many, many better choices around Big D to get your taco fix on.

Here's the deal....When a friend of yours, who you trust in the way of the food, AND has Taco in his Yelp title, tells you he has found a taco place better than your current favorite....You go there, immediatly, no questions asked.

And that, my friends, is how I ended up at 24/7 Taco for lunch today.  It's in a gas station that has more cerveza inside, than i have ever seen in one place.  Half of this place is a wall of beverages and snacks, and the other half is a little taqueria with tables and chairs.  They have a wide selection of tacos including beef, chicken, pastor, carnitas and brisket.  The 3 tacos with rice and beans special for $4.99, is an ample amount of food.  I went with 2 brisket and one carnitas.  The brisket was great, very juicy and tangled up with peppers and onions.  The carnitas was tender and had a very nice, smokey flavor.  The rice and beans were better than pedestrian, and the limes, onions and cilantro were all as fresh as could be.  The sauces were really good, but remember, Green mean Go, Red mean HOT.

Make the trip out to ole Garland, the Land of Gar, The city where Zombieland begins, and get a couple slices of life at 24/7.  Don't mind the thrift store graveyard, or the gaggle of men waiting for "work".  I do have to say, this place got 4 stars, my favorite has 5, IJS TACO.

If you are looking for ambiance- keep looking(unless day labor chic is your kind of thing). If you are looking for a great deal on cheap tasty tacos then come on in.

I will occasionally stray but usually get the carnitas and brisket. They are both flavorful and very filling and with the rice and beans(which are ok but not as good as the meats) for only 4.99 its a great deal.

Make sure you pay at the front of the store first and then take your ticket to taco bliss back to the counter to have your order prepared. One of the best parts of a visit here is watching them make the tacos. They really have a system down. I don't think I can do anything as fast as they make tacos! It is awe inspiring.

This is pretty much my offices default lunch stop when nothing else seems quite right.

    $4.99 deal:
Three tacos plus rice and beans
    Al pastor- delish.

    Grilled onions on side,
Big ass pepper if you're brave
    Green and red sauce rock.

We go every once in a while, it's good tacos! I always get the spicy pork and my kids get the chicken fajita tacos. The rice and beans are excellent.

They always have fresh cilantro and onions along with fresh red and green sauce.

I keep saying I'm gonna grab some on the way home one night instead of waffle house!   Beer and tacos!

I had been hunkering for a taco stand close to home ever since trying out El Tacasa or whatever it was, way out in KTown. Here I got my fix! It's right across from the Day-Labor center, so the place has character. You'll place your order up at the counter where you buy booze and gas with Ravi [or whomever your attendant happens to be] -- not at the counter in front of the meats, where you actually get handed your taco.

Their menu was my dream come true. One taco for about a buck and a half, or a meal of 3 with a drink will set you back a fiver. On my first visit, I got the 'al pastor', which is pork marinated with chili spices and adobo, and the barbacoa. I'll have to see next time if they use sheep, cow, or goat for that. Anyway, both were great! They give you enough to make two small tacos per scoop of meat, and you can douse em in lime juice, onions and peppers, or the salsas they have chilling in a pile of ice to the side of the dining space.

I shot the taco guy a thumbs up as I got up to leave. Yes. That means I will definitely be back to try the carnitas, fajita meat, or steak varieties. Maybe all at once. And with ten bucks in my hand. Oh, a guy can dream..

The food was OK, but the atmosphere was downright scary!

My fiance was being visually undressed by 3-4 guys the whole time we were in line, and there were about a dozen different people just hanging out and looking like they were looking for trouble.

If you are in town during the day and feel like some decent authentic Mexican tacos then go here, but PLEASE do not go after dark!

    THANKS FOR THE FOOD POISONING!

I had 3 of the $2,000.00 tacos. I will be paying off the $6,000.00 bill at Baylor Garland for some time to come.

Dealings with the Garland Health Department revealed that this place has had health inspection scores as low as 51in 2010. That is one point away from being closed! Citations have been primarily for unsafe food handling and storage.

    Stay the hell away!

Finding authentic Mexican food in Dallas can be a challenge.  Tacos from a gas station may sound sketchy, but I assure you this is as real as it gets.  It's tucked into the corner of gas station, very no frills.  A few bare tables, a soda fountain, and authentic fixings.  The prices are dirt cheap, you can get a full meal for under $5.  No crispy taco shells, or ground beef filling here.  They have things familiar to most  people such as carnitas, pollo, and fajita.  As well as things not so familiar, but authentically Mexican such as chicharon, and lengua.  The food is definitely greasy, but it's from the fat naturally in the meat.  For just a couple bucks you can try something different, and authentic

I little overrated by people. The atmosphere is not good. The tacos are below par. I will keeping driving to oak cliff for authentic tacos. Tortillas where extra hard and the meat was very dry for my taste. The price was good, but that was it for the place.
