Boston, MA
Awesome rooftop bar in the city with a great view of the Empire State Building. It gives off a Vegas vibe too. I really like the decor at this lounge and the outdoor seating on the roof. It gets a little windy at night in the spring but they offer snuggies to keep warm. You can always go inside for a little bit for a change of scenery.
There is no cover charge at this place which is nice for the atmosphere it offers. The drinks are pricey but it makes up for not having a cover charge. They have some creative cocktails but they weren't anything special. I would definitely come back for the outdoor atmosphere and the view.
There was a line at the door but I think it's just to control traffic to get up to the bar. We got there around 11:30 on a Saturday night and only waited for 10 minutes. The service is mediocre but the ambiance makes up for it. -
Review from Vineet S.
This rooftop bar was a very pleasant surprise to me. I mean one always except long lines , cover charge or a minimum tab to get in and bouncers with attitude. But this place was different.
I have been here a couple of times after my initial visit. Though there are always long lines on Fridays and Saturdays to get in, but the lines move very fast. One should always dress to impress, I have seen undressed people turned away at the door. The bouncers and the staff at the door are friendly and accommodating.
This rooftop offers one of the best views of NYC's skyline. As soon as one walks out of the elevator, one gets into this huge lounge with tables all around. They have two bars one right next to the restrooms and the other main bar on the other side. The DJ played all the top 40's all night. Though I was expecting more tourists bur surprisingly saw so many locals partying at this place.
As one walks upstairs, robes can be taken while heading to the rooftop. The rooftop is actually really nice. Some of the tables require reservations and while others don't. There is also a bar upstairs and they have an exhaustive food menu. Drinks were reasonably priced and bartenders were attentive too.
Overall a really nice place to chill in summers and also a place to take out of town guests.
FYI- This place is only crowded on weekends and most of the other days it is kind of dead, so plan to be there on a weekend.Listed in: R-O-O-F-T-O-P-S

Manhattan, NY
Went here last night with a friend. The lounge is kind of gross and, as many have already written, smells really weird! However, the roof is beautiful and the views are amazing, some of the best I've seen in NYC. It was really crowded for a Wednesday although I attribute that to the fact that many NYC colleges graduated yesterday.
I'm giving it 3 stars because of the service. Our waitress was a combination of bad things - harried, rude, and reeeaaaally slow. I'm not blaming her for being stressed due to the crowd, but it took her 20 minutes to take our drink order, and then 20 minutes to bring the drinks out. When she came for the order, she snapped at us and the tables around us, "Ok, ok, I see all of you!" Then she brought the other tables' drinks first although my friend and I had clearly been there the longest. Two hours later, after another round, we literally hadn't seen her in half an hour and I had to wade through the sea of people to beg her for our check.
Also, they were having some kind of Fordham party, and around midnight all the adults left and we were on the roof with 200 obnoxious, overdressed, drunk 20-year-olds. So annoying!
I would come here again for the views (and the drinks were pretty tasty), but only if I called ahead to make sure there were no huge parties or anything. -

I got right in.... no cover. Drinks are kind of pricey...but it is NYC. I was drinking champagne and I think they cost $14 a glass. We probably had 20 drinks sent to us by men, if not more. Also, I am not a model, actress or anyone special and I do not think I am attractive, but whenever I go to NYC the men treat me like a Queen. I am thinking I need to move to NY!! HA! The men are very, very generous here. I think the men in NYC are just a better class than they are in DC.
Huge mix of people from all over the world and different ages. The funniest man up there was a guy named Henry apparently everyone knows who he is and comes by every night! He makes his own clothes how cool is that! He was wearing this very colorful outfit it was outrageously cool.
Met some guys from Spain and the the guys from Spain are hot!
The view is the number 1 factor here. The crowd number 2, size number 3, no cover number 4 , red robes are you kidding me red robes! -

My friend recommended this place while we were in new york. It was awesome!!! I got to wear a red robe --thinking I was a jedi. haha It gets very chilly up on the rooftop --but dont dress appropriately because then it ruins the mood and you will be the only one without the robe!!! besides that drinks are expensive but it was a good experience!

i always heard about this place from random people and everyone always had mixed reviews. i finally got to check it out when i went here for an event. The place was huge! the inside was dark with red everywhere, it kinda reminded me of an old school run down vegas lounge. i went to the rooftop wc was much better. it was really pretty up there and the space was actually nice. lots of tables and even lounge chairs in some spots and they have heaters! although the heaters didnt really work very well. we were all still very cold. and they have these giant red snuggies that you wear if its cold out. Weird!!! we looked like we belonged in a cult!
it said i t was tiki themed but i didnt really see any island-ey tiki inspired anything. the drinks were ok, typical prices as well. you really have to be witha good group of people to come here to truly enjoy. -

If I could only give "0" Stars.
I can't really tell you about the inside of 230 Fifth because I never made it in. I went on Saturday May 5, 2012 and waited on the long line. As my friend and I got to the front of the line I saw it was split into two lines. I was told to join the second line that had a group of 5 guys with no female and 1 African American female. The bouncer then told us that everyone on that side of the line had to buy bottle service to go in.
Now I watched groups of Caucasian women being let in without needing bottle service. The only African Americans on line were required to buy bottle service for access. Females who were in single or in groups of two, really? Bottle service? They can really keep their shady door practices! -

This place is lameeeeeeeeeeeeeee. The view of the city is lameeeeeeeeeeeeee. The crowd is lameeeeeeeeeee. All you see is the top of Empire State building. EVERYTHING else; all the twinkling lights of buildings and cars (let's face it - we don't see actual stars here) is covered up by cheap fake palm trees, tacky lights and random railing-y things...nevermind the MASSIVE generator that takes up like half the floor.
The interior is cheappppppppppp. From the dirty carpet to the cheap "leather" chairs to the not even remotely funny cheap tiger stuffed animal thing which "greets you" at the entrance, I was like"....are you forreal" ::insert side eye:: ::smh::
Going outside, as you already read was not any better. I came expecting something amazing and was defffffffinitely let down.
I think I just realized that you are probably supposed to be drunk to be impressed by this place. Then again, you'd die trying to stumble up or down those stairs....
Oh. and it stinks. WASH THE CARPET!!!!! (no pun intended) -

Horrible service. Gaudy strip club interior (very heavy on the pink). The unfortunate combination of very rude and impressively unknowledgeable staff. Good views, but I would recommend The Press Lounge or Sky Room if that's what you're after.

The food is mediocre and unimpressive - you're really coming here for the view anyway! Overpriced drinks, confused menu, very odd decor, and slow service.
The only thing this place has going for it is its amazing view of the city. I'm not sure why they did such a bad job with the decor - There are weird statues of animals everywhere.
Many of the entrees had an asian salad side. You'd think that it would have some sort of ginger dressing but it actually is some sort of caesar. I also was given chopsticks to eat my food with, which was served on plastic plates decorated with asian trimmings.
I'm so sad I got sucked into this tourist trap! -

The drinks at this bar were mediocre at best! In fact, they were so bad that after spending over $200, a group of 4 of us left this place sober. If you're wondering what made us stay that long...
It was the amazing view of the Empire State Building. At 230 Fifth you are paying for the ambiance. -

Flushing, NY
Drinks are pricey but the view is definitely worth it. I went on a Sunday night for a birthday party and there was a huge crowd, probably for a special event that happened earlier. The lounge area seems nice, but I didn't want to risk sitting on the couches out of fear of the nasty things that might be hiding inside. The carpets, which are laid out throughout the lounge, were incredibly sticky. If I stood in one spot for more than 10 seconds, my shoes would actually get stuck to the floor. Not sexy at all!
It was a chilly evening, but the heat lamps on the rooftop made it a comfortable place to hang out. -

Great rooftop place! Good drinks, pretty good snackie food. Stunning views & space.
I'd give it 5 stars but the service is lacking. They've always been friendly but hard to get. No reservations unless you get bottle service, but we've never had to wait long for a table. Just takes forever to flag someone down if you want something.
Still I keep going back. -

Sure, the view is nice, but the drinks are horrendously pricy and inside it smelled like a kitchen cafeteria--the kind in an old folks home.
I'd rather pick up a 6-pack from my local deli and enjoy the view from my own apartment's roofdeck. -

This is a very chill and touristy rooftop.
I went there before I even moved to New York, friend's birthday or sth.
Non-pretentious, but I have to say, the food/drink/vibe/view didn't impress me at all. Just very very average. -

3.5 -- I liked it for the ambience.
It gives you a whole view of the city, with lovely heated places and snuggly coats given to you at the entrance. So you see a pool of red snuggly people when you walk in. HOW CUTE!
The drinks were good too. I had white peach and it was STRONG.
Only points off for the SLOW service. She took an hour to bring everything! and its expensive so I would go here for ONE drink. -

If i can give this place negative star rating, i would!! We flew thousands of miles just to get to NYC and hang out at this stupid lounge. Instead of treating us like guests (since we are a party of 11 and each bought a minimum of 3 drinks) they ridiculed and offended us. They charged us 9 dollars for a cup of pineapple juice and 6 dollars for a cup of coke when all we asked for were chasers!!! Is that reasonable??? We came here for a good time yet we ended up getting horrible service and were treated horribly! I love the scenery but the fucking service sucks!

Went for couple of drinks with girlfriends. Cool place, nice view.
Waitress are little arrogant - since we were 8 of us and started with just 2 drinks, she was like 'just two between the 8 of you....let me ask the manager'. Once we ordered more, she seemed to get her act together.
Tried spicy mango and grapefruit vodka drinks. Both were good. They are not skimpy on the alcohol.
But your $$$ are for the view and the atmosphere, not so much the food or drinks. -

I've only been to the rooftop bar at this place, so I can't say much for the indoor bar/club area. But the rooftop...it's nice. Very nice. First, the view is pretty amazing. Second, lots of tables and seating. The service could be a whole lot better, I must say, but I guess if you're not here on a busy day, you'll leave very satisfied.
The first time I came here, I couldn't stop ogling at the view. The food wasn't too bad either. I think we had the calamari. Our waitress was kind and gracious. And I remember it being a bit nipply up there that night so we perused through the robes and Snuggies. It was fun.
But I guess the best time to go is during the warm summer months, when everyone and their mommas are up there, looking their best with their Ray Ban aviators. Seriously, it's like a dang meat market. The first time I took my friend there, she was speechless. The girl has pretty bad verbal diarrhea as it is but at some point, I had asked her a question, and her ADD kicked in as soon as a hottie walked by. That's a first! Suffice it to say, we dropped by on a very good day.
The last time we were there, I did notice more tourists than normal. Hopefully, this doesn't become a regular thing. -
Review from Marcos E.
This is a place I strongly suggest you not attend unless you are sufficiently intoxicated. And by 'sufficiently' I mean 'very'.
I am ashamed to admit that peer pressure, unsuccessful pub crawlings and lack of better plans have brought me here time and again. Every time, I promise I won't be back, but hey, here I am...
I will provide you with a list of the things I do not particularly enjoy here:
1) Ambiance: this place looks like an abandoned 80's brothel. Pink lighting, mirrors on the walls, flamingo statues, glossy black roof, satin upholstery, the works. You can easily imagine a bad Madonna video being shot here.
2) They have carpeting (which, as one would imagine, is not the best flooring choice for a night club) and it is so sticky that often your shoes will be stuck to the ground and your feet will involuntarily come out of your shoes. Ewww.
As a last note on the architectural failure, they put the bar on the f***ing corner: not only does it block the window with the best view in the house, but also it leads to the wait staff (very) rudely carrying huge trays filled with dirty dishes across the lounge/dance floor. The center of the room, which is next to the kitchen (oh, what a convenient place for a bar!) is filled with lounge tables. Way to go, genius.
3) If your first sight as you exit the elevator is a 50-something woman with a perm and big round glasses accompanied by her light suede bomber-jacket wearing husband, you're in the wrong place. Nothing against baby boomers, but we tend to belong in different social circles. Yes, this is a place often recommended to tourists of all ages for the pretty skyline. And you will find a very eclectic selection of patrons here.
4) I'm the first to say that the usual club door policy in New York is absurd. But this place's lack of a door policy explains why host(esse)s are so bitchy virtually anywhere else. Girls here test the limits of sparkly spandex while indulging in drinks from bottles brought to the table with (a lot of) fireworks. Back home, we have a saying that can be roughly translated as 'sluts don't feel cold' and the open rooftop with red robes that look just as clean as the carpet is here to prove this saying true. Again, not hating, but this is not my crowd.
5) They religiously play the beginning of 'New York, New York' by Frank Sinatra fading into 'Empire State of Mind', by Jay-Z/Alicia Keys. E-v-e-r-y e-f-f-i-n-g t-i-m-e. Enough said.
I'll give you this much, though: the view is actually very nice (even though there are much better places with an equally pleasing skyline), the prices are reasonable and, when you go running out the door, cabs are plentiful. Hence that second star... -

Well, travelers, if you been to NYC or never been to NYC before, either way, you should stop by here at least once, yes, just once is enough, and I'll tell you why
First of all, this is located on top of the office building, if you just walking by on 5th Ave and 27th street, you will never notice about this place, there is a tiny sign in front of the building, but I'm sure if you are a traveler, you will be too busy looking up instead of down.
For the people that live in NYC, I'm not even sure why you want to go here. lol
Well, I'm not trying to put down this place, but to be honest, this place have nothing to be proud of BUT the view, this place I gotta say, great view, and....that's it.
Why?
Well, my friend and I went there, I ordered a coke, and he order a jack and coke, guess how much? $20.00 plus tip! What? Are you serious? lol
Okay, no big deal, I know you are located on Fifth Ave and you need to make some money to pay your rent, no problem, I willing to pay.
But the problem is, I can't even find a server here to pay them!!
This place have 2 floors, the 20th fl which is the indoor bar/lounge, is really nice inside, large windows, view of the city, and on top of that is the roof top bar, open area, that is where you get a view of the Empire State Building
Now back to the waitresses here, you can never find them, and if you find them, they will give you the line "I'll be right with you" or "Someone will get back to you" or....you never see one. lol
To me is funny cuz I just cannot believe why this place still packed every weekend, why people want other people to treat them like crap and paying high dollars?
If I paying high dollars to someone serving me, that person better be kissing my feet. lol
Not that I'm asking, just saying, over all, 2 stars, service is really bad here, bring down all the points -

Cool rooftop bar with great views of the city. Wrap yourself in a red sluggie bathrobe, sit under lights and heat lamps, drink expensive cocktails or spiked coffee/cider drinks served by slow, apathetic servers.
You gotta know this place is here to know it's here on the rooftop of an office building.
Worth a stop for a drink and the view, but don't expect to be dazzled by their service. -

VIVA LAS VEGAS circa 1985! This place has some of the strangest and most garish decor I've seen since the boozy old casinos off the strip. Mirrors everywhere and strip club lighting adorn this weird lounge.
The outdoor area is packed to the gills on nights where weather would make being on a rooftop appealing. The crowd seems a little desperate, but the view is fantastic. I'd say, go at off hours and with a good sized group to buffer against the trying-just-a little-too-hard clientele. -

Heated rooftop bar with snuggies - what more could you ask for? A view of the Empire State building! They have the most innovative drink menu. My favorite was the White Peach made with Fresh Peach Puree and was just so lip smacking delicious! The roof area is pretty huge. We went for happy hour and it's definitely a bring your own crowd kind of place as everyone is sitting at a table. During that time the inside area was empty but the decor definitely had a sexy vibe to it. It's across the street from the Museum of Sex.
Negatives: Long lines for the singular bathrooms that give you a port a pottie feel. Poor service from the waitress. People can smoke there so the next table can completely ruin you breathing fresh air.Listed in: My NYC weekend of fun... and…

Go on the warmest day in February, and this place is pretty crowded. I can't imagine it in the middle of the summer. A few tips:
If you're going to be here all night, don't bother checking your bag; the check bag counter closes at 10PM.
If it's the winter, don't check your coat. Odds are you will still be kind of cold on the roof.
Order the chicken bits. I forget the actual name, but damn they were tasty.
Overall I had a positive experience, but you should expect to pay rooftop bar prices. -

Love the rooftop aspect to it and the lower level lounge area.
Lots of tourists come here, so you'll get a different (friendlier) mix of people than in other areas (see: Gansevoort Park Plunge Bar) which is a plus.
But their drinks are over-priced drinks too, so pre-game before you come here!
Had the food here before. Was nothing special.. Ended up not even finishing it..
3 stars for it being a rooftop and being a nice romantic spot to take a date or to meet a new one ;)Listed in: Favorite Creep Spots

230 5th isn't a bad roof top bar, nor is it stellar. The Food isn't bad, but the drinks are miniature sized. I ordered two martini's that were literally half full. My BF picked up the bill, so I have no idea how expensive they were, but I find half-filled martini's a crime against humanity!
230 5th does have a cool indoor downstairs lounge area and the upstairs roof top offers spectacular views of Midtown. However, the music was just mediocre. Seriously, it's 2012... leave the Debbie Gibson & Stevie Nicks CD's in the garage, covered with dust where they belong!
All in all, 230 5th isn't a bad place. However, there are better Roof Top bars in Manhattan. -

I came here for a friends birthday and I would have to say that the view uptop the rooftop bar is gorgeous!
The upstairs bar is great (but very crowded) while the downstairs club/lounge atmosphere is sophisticated. The floors were sticky, which is weird because it was carpeting, which i thought was strange.
i didn't get any drinks here so i cant comment on the quality of drinks/food/price but this is a nice place for a celebration- my friends and i had a great time! -
Review from Emma G.
This is a really cool place - we had brunch and it was fun to have such a beautiful view to soothe our hangovers with.
The staff were very polite and friendly, and the menu is huge (both physically, and that it has a lot of items). It looks a bit old, but still nice. Drinks are stupidly expensive - totally not worth it, especially for juice. I ordered peach juice and it was kinda lukewarm.
I ordered the eggs Benedict, which was good. They serve it on brioche instead of an English muffin which I didn't like at all - it was too soft for my liking. But the egg was perfectly poached and I liked the sauce. I was stealing bites of my friend's Farmers Omelette....mmm. Would definitely order that next time.
The tables are really small, and the plates are really light, which lead to me spilling my breakfast all over myself and the floor when trying to cut my first bite. That was a bummer. Our server replaced it and had the kitchen rush it out - that was super awesome and I appreciated it.
We snuck upstairs to view the rooftop patio, and it was beautiful. I'd come back here for drinks on the patio, for sure. -

Where can you meet lots of drunken foreigners looking to hang out with some "real" Americans?
Where can you gaze upon the beauty of Manhattan from the heights of a balcony while being repeatedly approached by various strange guys utilizing the most creative pick-up lines you've ever heard in the most obscure accents you've ever heard? (e.g. **Italian accent** ehhh excuuuuuse me, are you the von (one), who goes e-rrrrrunning, on ze fifth avenue every morning? I like it when ze vomen go running, it makes me want to do ze sexually after) -- verbatim, true story.
Where can you dance while still having the ability to go up to the roof and have a normal, or even interesting, conversation with someone without having to shout? And where can you be provided with complimentary snuggies to cuddle under while you're shmoozing or running away from male predators on the roof?
Where can you go to hang out with your friends and accidentally end up on TV afterward as the target of a pick-up-artist seminar? (http://abcnews.go.com/...) Why, 230 5th of course.
230 5th is the kind of place you go to when you want a really silly, ridiculous night out on the town. I have never gone to 230 5th without having hysterical tales to tell the following morning, because there's just so much random shiz going down at any given moment. It turns out that 230 5th is one of the leading places to hold pick-up-artist seminars, which explains why many of us get struck with the veritable gems of the pick-up-line world. It's also fairly easy to get into for guys, and the crowd is generally pretty good-looking and fun.
The drinks are overpriced, but the view is phenomenal, and though there are probably many places that beat 230 5th on a whole array of levels, 230 5th gets 5 stars from me for being reliably hilarious every time...and for providing me with the opportunity to accidentally be on TV for two embarrassing seconds. -
Review from Irm M.
The poor man's Gansevoort (not based on drink prices, but based on overall quality). This rooftop bar could school anyone on shameless kitchiness. Over-the-top lighting fixtures, red cult-like robes for use when the temperature drops, skunk and gnome statues, even a statuesque pink elephant is prominently placed at the center the venue. I cringed at the contrast of ugly decor versus the strikingly beautiful views of midtown Manhattan. It really is a shame they went to such tacky lengths to spoil what could have been accomplished easily by remaining understated and elegant.
That being said, the views are truly worth the hype. You can't get any closer to the Empire State Building. Your friends from out-of-town will be thrilled you brought them here. The music is dated yet fun. The crowd includes tourists, midtown 9-5ers and Europeans. The drink prices are comparable to other rooftop bars at $14 for a martini.
Come on a clear, warm evening for the views. Continue on elsewhere shortly after. -

My company had a happy hour there tonite. It was very contemporary and the fact that they had red robes for you if you became chilly was a nice bonus. The drinks were the standard price for NYC.
The views were incredible which is actually why you would go. This place is definitely worth your while. -

Awesome rooftop bar in midtown. Don't be too intimidated if you see a obnoxiously long line outside. It tends to move rather quickly.
Overall good crowd, lots of space for dancing, and the roof view is great. So cute that they provide hooded red cape-robe things for anyone feeling cold.
Only con is that the bathrooms seem to always be packed and have a long line. -

Blahhhh. The only good thing about this place was its on a roof. I hate these overpriced NYC places that put no effort in because they think they are special. This place sucked other than just being able to chill outside on a nice spring day.
Drinks are way overpriced and service is horrible. You can tell Manager or Owners do not care because of the help they hire. Every single person had a puss on their face like they had some place better to be. I walked in and was expecting to get a cool drink menu. Nope just a sigh with some Hot Drinks on it. Who the F wants a hot drink on a warm day? So I ask the bar tender whats good. Her unenthusiastic reply was beer. Thanx for the great suggestion. So I ordered 3 drinks for my friends. 3 drinks $40 plus tip. As far as I'm concerned I just bought a keg. I left $6 on that which I felt was way more generous than what the service provided for 3 drinks. You would think next time I approach the bar I would get a smile or prompter service but no just the I'm a really cool hipster and you suck attitude. WTF do you really want for pouring 3 drinks a $20? -
Review from Brian C.
I used to frequent 230 Fifth just because it was a nice spot to hang out with friends at. The only thing this place has going for it is the view and relaxed environment. Otherwise, the music is terrible and the service is meh.
I don't think it's worth coming here unless you have a table reserved. If you're not doing bottle service, then do table service. Otherwise, you'll just be standing around in everyone's way with nowhere to rest your drink. -
Review from Liz M.
Came after seeing it from the Empire State Building. This place falls into the category of the two drink minimum. If I were drunk, everything would exciting and novel. The red sketchy snuggies would morph into something Hugh Hefner would hand-pick to rub up against half-naked women. The drinks would transform from the hair-infused (not kidding) favored water to top shelf tastiness.
One bathroom was stopped up well before a reasonable time and the food was so greasy we couldn't finish it. Now, it was my fault for coming here spur of the moment and not when the DJ was playing. The outside area was huge and I would appreciate it on a warm night with friends. -

The rooftop bar is a 5 star attraction - the drinks are great, especially the hot cider when it is cold outside. The rooftop is a great place to grab a drink and catch up with friends while watching the amazing skyline and the Empire State Building. You can also have a big Red Robe should you be under dressed for the weather.
The reason I gave it 3 stars, the service was...Okay. I ended up serving myself at the bar rather than wait for the woman and even when I asked her for assistance she said she couldn't help me BECAUSE I got my drink at the bar. Huh? Okay...
Came back and had an okay brunch in the lower level. Can't say I'll ever be back for the food. Will come back to have a drink and show off the skyline to out of town guests. Overall, great attraction, not so great of a restaurant. -

I was poking around places I wanted to go on my latest visit to New York and 230 Fifth immediately made my list. Rooftop panoramic view and delicious sounding brunch? Sign me up!
We came here for a hangover brunch after a hockey game and a few too many beers. The service was really great, the hostess and our server were both very kind and attentive. The prices are really good for the food you get, and if you factor in that you're paying for that view the prices are extraordinary! I had the Farmer's Omlette with potato and leeks with a side salad. For me the salad dressing just tasted like oil. No real flavour. Luckily the greens were really nice and fresh to kind of offset the bland oily dressing. Next time I might go for fries though. The omlette was totally rockstar. It was cheesey, and the eggs weren't overdone. The leeks added a nice oniony flavour as well. I just really enjoyed every last bite of my omlette.
My beefs were: the tables are TINY. Fine for drinking, but not for eating. The drinks are way too expensive. $4 for tea? Come now. $6 for OJ? You've got to be joking! I stuck with water. I don't mind paying big money for boozey drinks but for plain on-the-wagon drinks it's a bit much for me.
We ate inside but went to the patio upstairs for some pictures. It was beautiful I would love to return during the warmer months for some drinks up on the patio. -
Review from Cynthia L.
Astoria, NY
I came here for a friends 25th birthday brunch. Let me tell you something, the waiter that we had for this afternoon was absolutely fantastic for a group of 10 plus theater people. We took over a whole corner for brunch and he was such a delightful person.
Now let me talk about the food. I got the Eggs Florentine and their hollindaise sauce was far too rich for my standards. The dressing that they put on their salad didn't impress me at all either but I was starving.
I didn't get any cocktails but my girlfriends informed me that they were delicious.
Now I got to talk about the decor on the inside. It felt like a horrible flashback to Saturday night fever. The entire place on the inside is all windows so it makes it impossible to read your menus or talk to someone across from you on a sunny day with the sun pouring into the restaurant. I have no problem with dimly light places but it was the strangest combo of over exposed lights from the outside with extremely dimly light tables. It made me dizzy at times.
Now the rooftop is the one of the main reasons I'd come back here. FANTASTIC VIEWS of the empire state building and the surrounding landscapes.
