Review from Chuck S.
Industry, CA
'cause everytime I close my eyes I think of you....
And no matter what the season is I still love you....
with all my heart!
I want to be with you, where ever you aaaaaaaaaaare
I only think of you, on 2 occasions.
That's day, and night.
I go for broke, if I could be with you.
Only you can make it right.
Oh, did you want the rest of that song? You can listen to it on youtube at your own risk. http://www.youtube.com...
But that's how I feel about 22 Degrees' gelato. I was introduced to this by a very lovely young woman, who insisted on treating me. And though she is the type of girl I could fall for, I believe it is the gelato that has truly captured my heart. Let's not even talk about how much "healthier" it is. I'll just mention that there's additional fiber and prebiotics to support the growth of healthy gastrointestinal flora. It's a good thing.
But most importantly, the flavors are just fantastic. Creamy, yet balanced. Stylish and classy. And I was just about torn... how do I decide between lavender, rose petal, chocolate amaretto, cinnamon? And that is where the genius of this place comes. $3.50 gets you TWO choices. My other favorite ice creams and gelatos joints: Mashti Malone's, Fosselmann's, Bulgarini Gelato, Carmela, LA Creamery... you spend that much, and you're jailed to one-flavor monogamy.
You got $4.85, you highrolla baller shotcaller you?! Were you the one rollin' down the street in that Ferrari 550 Maranello? Then you can get 3 lovely flavors whored out to you. And it's just ecstasy. It is divine.
I only think of you on 2 occasions.... that's day, and night...Listed in: Ice cream and stuffs

Review from Diana I.
This is a somewhat hidden little gelato shop next to Coffee Cartel. My bf and I were surprised to discover it today! 4.5 stars? How did I not know about this place all these years?
After feeling silly for asking, "Do you have to be a kid to get a kid size scoop?", I got the kids size pink peppermint chip which is basically like mint chocolate chip but pink! It was pretty yummy and I liked how they gave me a piece of waffle cone stuck in my scoop! Score! But overall it wasn't as good as the gelato at Pazzo Gelato on Sunset in LA. My bf got the "HOT GELATO" which is unique here. They can take your favorite gelato flavor and turn it into a hot drink by adding steamed milk. But anyway, my bf got the tiramisu hot gelato and he really enjoyed it. I took a sip and it tasted like light and frothy hot chocolate. Not great but not bad. I would never order this because I don't want my gelato as a hot drink. To me, the whole point of it is eating a nice cold treat!
What I do like is they have some unique flavors here like spicy chocolate jalapeno, lavender, wasabi raspberry, ginger, rose petals, salted caramel, etc. which is pretty cool. But quality-wise and taste-wise, I didn't think it was THAT great. Not 4.5-star worthy...
But if I'm ever in the area and walking around Riviera Village, and craving some gelato, I'd be wiling to make another visit. :)Listed in: My Sweet Tooth

Review from Terin C.
The first flavor I ever tried here was lavender. I'd never had lavender flavored anything at that point, and upon sampling it I was distinctly reminded of a bar of lavender scented soap. To give you some background, I like soap. I like sniffing soap, I like washing my hands and then smelling them for minutes afterward, and I like walking down the soap isle in the grocery store. I've actually been caught many a time with my nose hovering over an opened bottle of dish detergent. So, for me, to say this gelato tasted like soap is not a bad thing. I quite enjoyed it, and it was the only flavor I ordered for a long time.
Assuming you don't like the taste of soap, however, I should point out that I have had a lot of other flavors here... and have liked most of them. I became a big fan of the coconut gelato, usually with rainbow sprinkles poured on top. The sprinkles don't do much for the flavor, but they sure make the gelato pretty.
Also, this place used to be called something different. Shakespeare may be one overrated son of a Brit, but he was right when he said "a rose by any other name etc...", because this gelato by any name still tastes as sweet. I'm wondering if it's obvious that I've run out of things to say. Well, it's probably a lot more obvious now. In any case, I like this dessertery.
I made up a word for you; now, you go have some gelato for me.Listed in: SweeT-erin

The jasmine gelato is sooooo fabulous!!! My friend said it tastes like perfume, but I think it's one of the most amazing things ever. I could eat containers of this stuff. Containers!!! I also got a scoop of the tiramisu, which was good with actual wafer pieces, but it was overshadowed by the jasmine choice!

big ups to 22 Degrees for using all natural ingredients and adding prebiotic inulin in their gelato. You'll find a ton of interesting flavors like rose petal, wasabi something or other...the spicy chocolate is fantastic...great amount of heat and dark chocolate...soo good....

Parking: Ehh depends. I found parking across the street. Metered parking is free on weekends
I had a groupon for 2 hot gelato drinks. I had the pumpkin spice hot gelato drink. It was alright. I think next time I"ll try to the real gelato in the cold form. lol.
Price: Not too shabby
Go back: Sure. It is decently close by and pretty cheap. -

Gotta love probiotic fiber-filled gelato that tastes really good.
Dark chocolate? Check. Raspberries? Check. Together? If you want, sure.
There are soooo many flavors here that even the most ardent stick-in-the-mud will venture forth from their 'Just vanilla, please' shell and find something new to enjoy.
I've gotten the impression that this business started as *her* labor of love - same owners as the Coffee Cartel next door. However it started, it has evolved through at least one name change and hasn't suffered for it.
The prices are not for the timid, but the beautiful thing about real, honest to god gelato made with care and creativity is that you don't need much to thoroughly enjoy it. You can get out for under $5 each, certainly - just think quality - not quantity :).
22 Degrees in Redondo, and Paciugo in Hermosa, are at the upper end of the scale.
Another nice part about 22 Degrees, aside from the short walk to the Esplanade, is that lot parking (maybe 10-12 spaces) is free, free, free.
Watch out for the low, cut off telephone poles and chains - they've crunched more than one fender in the past. I'm surprised the landlord hasn't been sued by an insurance company for these yet. -

My friend and I randomly stumbled upon this place. We had just eaten lunch and wanted something sweet. They offered samples so I tried the rose petal. I thought their rose petal needed a bit more of a kick. The other sample I tried was the lavender and I was pretty much hooked after the first bite.
I ended up going with a small (2 choices for $3.50) of lavender and salted caramel. The salted caramel was just right, not too sweet, yet just enoughflavor.
There's not really any seating available inside, but plenty of outdoor tables/chairs. Luckily, Southern California doesn't get too terribly cold to enjoy this delicious treat during the winter months.
Also, there are no public restrooms at 22 Degrees. However, you can try to sneak in to Coffee Cartel next door. -
Review from ryan c.
How could you not be a fan of healthy gelato? It's like you can eat twice the portions w/o the guilt. Why wouldn't you???
Anyways, the girl behind the counter was really friendly and I wasn't sure if she would be with 4 people wanting to try like 4-5 flavors each. It's so hard when there are all kinds of unique flavors screaming "TRY ME, TRY ME."
2 choices for $3.50 isn't bad at all. -

UCK! What a terrible idea to make sophisticated, interesting flavors of gelato into a cloyingly sweet, hot drink!!! Even those with jalapeno and wasabi are overly sweet when turned into a hot drink! Why ruin good gelato?

I give this place MAJOR props for making gelato healthy. Not that fake artificial sugar, eat smaller portions kind of healthy, but actually stuff that is good for you. There is supposedly more fiber in this than 1/2 lb broccoli, less calories than 1/2 cup edamame, less fat than 1 hardboiled egg, etc etc.
I had to take off one star because I wish the gelato had a little more creaminess to it. I had the French espresso, which was good, but I also tasted the Chocolate Amaretto and Chocolate Butterfinger, both of which I thought could use a little more cream. But then again, if there was more cream, then maybe they couldn't tout about how nutritious it is. Man, and I do love that I can honestly call this gelato healthy. :) -

OMG! The gelato here is delish! There are some fun, exotic flavors for the adverturesome and you can bet I tried them all! I ended up taking home; Rose petals, Choco amarretto, Black sesame and Strawberry choco chip! I smile everytime I take a bite! Can't wait for their new flavors!

Every time I come here, I know that I am going to be happy. This is the most flavorful and healthy gelato made in the west coast. Katie, the owner, makes the gelato fresh and she deeply cares about the source of the ingredients. I can trust that she has not used ingredients with food additives from chemical companies. I can't feel the same with Baskin Robbins or frozen yogurt shops.
I tried a hot chocolate gelato. It is amazing. It is the best hot chocolate drink I have ever had - EVER. I'm going there for hot chocolate from now on. Sorry Starbucks, I just don't know where you are getting your ingredients for hot chocolate. -

Palos Verdes Peninsula, CA
22 Degrees is by far the best and healthiest place to get some Gelato. As a Personal Trainer I approve of eating here at this place. What this place has that most places has is healthy alternatives.
A friend of mine know the owner Katie and we talked to her for a good half hour about where she gets the ingredients, how she makes her Products, and why they are healthier.
Apart from the obvious facts that she doesn't add High Fructose Corn Syrup "America's #1 Poison", Sugar, chemicals, and so forth, she incorporates "Prebiotics". While PRebiotics are a new concept to America, it has been around Europe and Asia for a while. This fiber is great if you're looking to stay thin be healthy and try to maintain a healthy lifestyle while picking up some great Energy in its products!
While Most Places don't care about your health and care about making a quick buck off you, Katie and 22 Degrees care more about your health and your well-being which makes me endorse the store and the Gelato here.
Highly recommended for anyone that has a sweet tooth or want a healthy "prebiotic" lifestyle or all of the above!
Some flavors of Gelato: Mango, Oreo Cookie, Death by Chocolate Orange, German Chocolate, Lavender, Vietnamese Cinnamon, Wild Grass. -
Review from Glen C.
Good service, clean place, reasonably price and solid location. Too bad that I'm just not the biggest fan of their gelato. I may have ruined my tastebuds for gelato after having it in Rome (San Crispino anyone?) ...
But of the four we tried (hazelnut, mango, rasberry and vanilla) the vanilla bean was actually the best. Maybe I just need to try different flavors.
Admittedly, my children loved it.... But again, anything sweet and cold tastes good to them.. and they don't yelp.Listed in: Sweet Tooth

Forget the powder-made yogurt, forget the unforgiving super-fattening, artery-clogging 31 Flavors, skip the chemical-filled, addictive, sugar-pumped Starbucks and take $5. & your sweet tooth to 22 Degrees!! It's right next to the Coffee Cartel in Riviera Village. Your sweet tooth, immune system, bones and intestines will all thank you!
If you get a hot gelato (think best-tasting mocha that's good for you) and you order a large, you can combine for flavors. May I recommend Milk Chocolate Mousse, Rose (yes, really, made from roses!), Chocolate Sorbet and Pink Peppermint.
Or if you want to try just a one flavor, do try: spicy jalepeno chocolate!
and then, German Chocolate. Don't forget the lemongrass, wasabi raspberry or the mango.
Yep, you're definitely going to have to go more than once. =)
Food Goddess Kaity at the helm has created such delicious, such healthy delights for you, done the science and footwork, with tremendous dedication and passion, all in your best interest. Thanks, Bianca, for turning me onto 22 Degrees! -

Really good tasting frozen yogurt and its healthy for you! I got a scoop of mint and a scoop of coconut almond fudge. Great flavors. And all for $3.50. They've been in business for 8 years and I can't believe this was the first time I've stumbled upon them. A nice treat after good italian dinner at Pedone's

What happened to this place...I used to frequent this place a lot, but the quality of the gelato has gone down.
Maybe I just went on a bad day, but there weren't too many flavors available and the gelato tasted too melted.
I asked if the cinnamon was the same as the one that they always had, and she said yes, but when I walked out the door and had a spoonful...blarg, that was not the cinnamon I had tasted for so many years :P Even if I want gelato, I'm just going to stick to Handel's for my sweet tooth cravings from now on :P -

First off, Vietnamese .....AND wasabi gelato? This place scores well for being original, healthy, and GOOD! Definitely a hidden gem in Redondo Beach that needs to branch out to other areas of So Cal! Hopefully the owner changes her mind and wants to branch out - I would love the opportunity to franchise this store! :)

Review from Margaret S.
Redondo Beach, CA
I used to love this place, but since it changed names from Crema Dolci to 22 Degrees I find myself less impressed. :(
It's partly due to the fact that they have cut down the number of flavors they carry at a time, but also in response to flavors that just don't seem as awesome as they used to. I don't know if it used to be creamier, or more flavorful... It just seemed better before.
I still go in once in a while, since I live in the area and walk by it almost every day. But with so many other choices for frozen treats in the area, the decline in yumminess has made it one of my less-frequented spots. -

Truly a stand out operation!!!
Been coming here since it was Crema Dulce.
Innovation and passionate dedication have made this place outstanding.

Review from Mayumi T.
Worst gelato I ever tasted. The gelato is icy, and not creamy. Gelato isn't supposed to be chunky and hard.
We went in there and sampled:
- Toasted Almond: this one made me say wtf? I had to throw the rest of the sample away. It was seriously awful.
- Banana Foster: Tastes like the banana-shaped candies in Runts. Really artificial-tasting.
- Orange Chocolate: just tasted weirrrd.
Between 3 of us ladies, we sampled various flavors (more than listed above) and still couldn't find a decent one. Other customers came in and the clerk diverted her attention to the new people and we ran out. -
Review from Teej T.
Urbana, IL
The gelato is certainly not the best I've ever had, but the service, the people, and the overall feel of the place is always enough to bring me back for more.
The owner is the sweetest Asian-American woman on the planet, and nothing makes me happier than walking over from Coffee Cartel to grab a quick scoop o' gelato. They're constantly trying and innovating and makin' delicioustastic new gelato creations.
Today, they had Wasabi Raspberry gelato available. Lest you shrink back in horror, let me tell you--it wasn't bad. Granted, it wasn't *good* either, it just...wasn't awful. It was unique, kinda like a family member's new hair cut that you don't know how to respond to. It just tasted...different. In a good way. Really.
Please instead stick to a less bizarre flavour, and you'll be delighted. I find their gelato a bit heavy and creamy, but it's still wonderful. ANd you're supporting a kickass local business. My favourite part is the sign that lists all that goes into making the business. Above the hundred thousand dollars worth of machinery and the expensive ingredients, the number one listed item is "a supportive husband." How ridiculously cute is that? I'll tell you. It's AMAZINGLY RIDICULOUSLY CUTE.
Go to CREMA DOLCI. They need your business, and you WON'T be disappointed. Unless you buy a scoop of Wasabi Raspberry instead of just getting the sample like I did. Then you're kinda insane and I'm scared of you.Listed in: Where is my Mothereffin'…

I can't believe there has been only one review on this place. Actually I can believe it because this little gelato place is pretty much hidden.
I came here yesterday because a friend would not stop raving about it. I'm a health fanatic and my friend kept talking about how they put probiotics and fiber in their gelato, so not only is it yummy, but it's good for you. Also as the other review stated they let you try as many as you want. The server was really patient! Also, a lot of their flavors are sugar free. They have tons of choices and rare flavors, such as lavendar, rose petal and ginger.
I stuck to my chocolate heart's content and had the hazelnut, chocolate raspberry and french espresso. Wow it's sooo light I could have had like 5 scoops.
I will be back to try their sundae with homemade fudge. Thankfully I live all the way in the LBC because if I didn't, I would be here everyday. -
Review from Heather R.
Redondo Beach, CA
54 flavors of gelato, ice cream and sorbet!!! 54 flavors of homemade goodness! 54 flavors I must try! Goodbye waist line...I'm in heaven!
I've been bemoaning the distance of Scoops. Little did I know there is just as wonderful of a place right in my backyard...only with 54 deliciously delightful flavors!
I've tried jasmine, nutella, lemongrass, ginger, passionfruit and cinnamon. That is just the tip of the iceberg! There are other amazing flavors I must try like chai, dulce de leche, lavender, death by chocolate, death by chocolate orange, peanut butter-chocolate and marshmallow, cotton candy and coffee toffee, just to name a few.
The owner and creator of these wonderful delicacies enjoys talking about how she makes each one. If you're into this sort of thing (as I am), it's fascinating! She also has a book on display that notates the nutritional value of each serving.
This is a fantastic, local run place! 5 stars for flavor, assortment and personality!Listed in: Wine and Revelry

It's 7 stars... XD
After seeing this page being listed as #1 bookmarked for "to try," I finally got off my but and marched over to 22 degrees and saw interesting names:
Rose
Lavender
Jasmine
garlic
ginger
wasabi raspberry chunks
Chocolate infused with I think what was chili.
All that above are the weirdest flavor I have ever seen and tasted at a gelato shop.
Most of theme were surprisingly good!
I rushed myself but the girl that gave me the samples told me to take my time with my deliberation on whether I should go for the weird flavors or not.
Hmm!
Score 1 for 22 degrees!
It was a scary task.
Nothing was more scary than tasting garlic, which I liked after the taste buds became aroused with the pungent garlic taste.
I would have gotten garlic to go but I was more worried about the garlic breath.
I order a pound. That's 4 scoops. Gosh I was a pig.
But after eating green tea, rose, chocolate with raspberry chunks, and vanilla beans, i decided that it was worth the sin of gluttony.
Good thing that store is right around the corner.Listed in: Riviera Village

Review from Julia K.
Ingesting gelato is to Be All that You Can Be. To gobble healthy, pro-biotic gelato, which is what they serve at 22 degrees, is to really go above and beyond the call of duty.
+ 1 HUGE Star - Cloops Deal - Buy $5 get $10 worth. Perfect for getting a big take home batch or two 3 scoop cones/cups!
+1 Star - Prebiotic Inulin. Uh....not sure what it is exactly but I do know it's good for you and you can't taste that it's being good for you while you are snarfling down your delish frozen treat.
- 1 Star - Service. I am not going to be down on the nice server here. And I do mean server. As that is the problem - there is only ONE on duty here. Now, I kind of understood that in December when I first went. But people it's now JULY so... Get ye some more help behind the counter - especially cos the wacky flavors make one have to try more often than not.
+1 Star - Wacky flavors. Rose. Lavender. Raspberry WASABI. Of course there are normal ones too, like Vanilla. But even the chocolates are exotic. So you will need to taste a few (dozen) to figure out where you will go with it. Me, I like to layer Bacio (kind of like Nutella but frozen and not so sweet), Cappucino and Marscapone. 3 smallish scoops in a ....
+ 1 Star - Waffle Cone. Best for freshness, size and value I have ever had. Only $0.65 each, and nice and crisp and recently home made. Yum!
+ 1 Star - Outside tables. More than a few - and in the shade. Also, it's nice to walk around the Riviera and window shop while gnashing on the frozen heaven.
- 1 Star - Pricey. For three smallish scoops in a waffle cone, $5.15. Oh my. That's getting up there.
+ 1 BIG Star - Quality. I have tried some flavors that didn't float my boat, but never have I tasted a gelato nor sorbeto here that had an "old" taste - always fresh and wholesome taste.
+ 1 Star - Frequent buyer card. Buy a bunch, get some free. Fabtastic!
If I could make a few delicate suggestions to perk things up here a tiny bit:
- More staff especially in the summer months.
- Take a number system to avoid the wily-nilly loosey-goosey chaos.
- Make smaller batches of the really odd stuff and maybe have a few more of those wierd flavors like basil, curry etc. And perhaps offer a min-scoop size of them - I would have had had a mini scoop of wasabi but not a whole one!
All in all, delightful place and cannot wait to go back ! -

Good homemade gelato. The taste of Italy is my favorite.
The owner apparently worked really hard to figure out the best flavors. The prices aren't the best, and neither is the spelling on most of the signs. They do seem to give more for that price than other places I've been to.
My friend who works here reveals that they definitely don't make the ice cream themselves, but you can find it at the grocery store (lol).
Don't order shakes here, because the machine is always broken. -

This store has been a family favorite for a few years now. It is truly a hidden gem...we frequent the coffee store (Coffee Cartel) next-door, and happened to enter here (am so glad!).
They have a variety of options - gelatos, sorbets, sugar-free. The flavors are unique (wasabi, ginger, chocolate with chili, lavender) - our favorite is the Rose.
We are now regular visitors here and enjoy introducing our friends and family to this place! -

I have been coming here for 5 years. During that time, I think they've had at least 3 different names? It's located in The Riviera Village next to the coffee shop.
The goods:
- I love the natural mint gelato.....
- Great flavors and you can taste as many as you want...
- They have mini sizes
- Nice staff
The bad:
- people often smoke outside while you are eating your gelato -

I love this place. They have a bunch of original flavors, along with some of the usual suspects. They have the health benefits of what they put into their gelato posted on the walls, but it doesn't affect the flavor at all! The workers are all very knowledgeable and very friendly. I would recommend 22 Degrees to anyone looking to satisfy their gelato fix.

I never get why people stand in line for fakey tasting yogurt when one block away they could have fresh home-made gelato. Why is that? If you want to sin on dessert, do it right. Spend the same amount of money on something real that tastes good.
Crema Dolce is that special place to sin correctly, with a fresh, delicious assortment of gelato flavors. So drop that yogurt cup and get over here! -

People be trippin' if they don't find this place to be a gem, with the most luscious gelato known to man.
I often get the lavender, but today got the mango and it literally tasted of nothing more than fresh mangoes. Not a spec if cream or butterfat or any other flavor at all - just pure mango. Heavenly.
Actually, I've never gotten any of the candy/dessert flavors - there are always so many interesting fruit and herb varieties that catch my eye...I brought home a scoop of strawberry and coconut that is already calling my name.
Speaking of names, it seems to have been changed from Crema Dolce to 22 Degrees Redondo Beach Gelato, see: http://www.redondobeac...
Looks like, located at and still serving the same gelato as always. YUM!
