My Wife and I chose this spot as for our Anniversary Supper.
Definitely not disappointed. Pricey, but you get what you pay for. The ambiance and the food was great. Made for a very romantic setting.
If you're looking for a special night out, this isn't a bad option. Beautiful restaurant, great staff, amazing food.
Definitely Recommend. -

My wife and I spent a few days at Turtle Bay, and overall really enjoyed the resort. However, our dinner at 21 Degrees North was definitely the low point of our trip. We were told this was the best restaurant on the property, and were anxious to experience it on our first night there. It is a very pretty location, and the service was good. The menu looked excellent, with fish prepared in a variety of innovative ways, but unfortunately everything went downhill from there. We started with oysters, which were stale and had a bad texture. The vegetables in the salads tasted old, and were drenched in an almost inedible dressing. And my fish entree was covered with some kind of hot sauce that completely ruined the dish. My wife's fish dish was even worse, and she could not eat it. All of this comes with a premium price.
Luckily we found better food at the beachfront restaurant, Ola, and we also had a good meal at the restaurant at the golf course. But 21 needs the overview of a good chef. Since I read several good reviews I could not help but think something has recently gone very wrong. -

Made reservations for Valentine's Dinner a month before for 6 p.m. for a Sunset and Ocean View Table. I have to say the staff was great making our moment special.
Not only did they give us a great view table near the window...they didn't give it away when someone had asked if they could have our table instead. Watching the Sunset & Ocean Waves at the same time was breath taking.
Although the Tasting Menu looked good, and for the price we decided not to order it. Instead we had:
Complimentary:
The Bread Platter with the Garlic, Butter & Balsamic Drizzle
*Bread was soft and warm, and the garlic was on point reminded me of Bagna Calda from The Stinking Rose.
Starters:
Seafood Medley Platter & Seafood Chowder
*Seafood Medley was actually great tasting, and perfect 2 share for 2. The chowder was kinda runny to me...Definitely not chowder from Seattle, or even Northern CA Coast...so skip the chowder.
Main Entree:
Crab Encrusted Sea Bass
* The fish was good, but didn't like the beans it came with...Would've preferred it with Asparagus, or a Rice Side instead.
Dessert:
Chocolate Souffle
*Was Phenomenal...Tasted good like making love good!
For Dinner of 2:
With Boyfriend having a Pina Colada
Fillet Mignon Dish
and 2 glasses of Riesling with tip $200
Ladies Beware! If you don't pay 4 Valet Parking, or get dropped off in the Lobby are of Hotel Entrance...Then I suggest you don't wear heels, or bring it with you to slip into in bathroom like I did. Otherwise you have a long walk from the bottom of the hill. -

This is not the best restaurant at this property.
The menu is inventive and looks good, but the food under delivered, the waiter was snooty and didn't really answer any questions I had about the menu, and it is the most expensive restaurant in Turtle Bay.
There was also no open air so therefore not really the ambience I want in Hawaii.
The only positive I took away was that they have fried pineapples as croutons on the caesar salad. That was yummy.
We had MUCH better meals, service, and it was cheaper at Ola (beachfront, but you really don't get a good view of sunset) and Lei Lei's (golf course). -

If I could, I'd give this 3.5 stars. Let's talk about my food. I ordered a filet mignon. Anyone who knows red meat knows how to enjoy your filet. Medium rare! When I got my filet it was medium well. :o( BUMMER!!! I know! I should have sent it back, but I'm always nervous to send anything back. You never know what kind of day the chef is having. So, that knocked one star off my rating. The other 0.5 was for my vegetables served on my plate. It was a mix of carrots and asparagus- over an oyster sauce. Tasty, but my carrots were not cooked at all! I should have asked for ranch dipping sauce and some celery sticks. Disappointing.

Another amazing dinner experience in Oahu. We visited the Turtle Bay Resort to see where Forgetting Sarah Marshall was filmed. Not only is the resort gorgeous, the food is excellent. We got the best seats overlooking the ocean. My husband and I both ordered fish and they both were good. Go here for a special occasion and you will not be disappointed.

21 Degrees gets four stars from me and here's why:
1 star for having pineapple croutons on their Caesar salad, creative, delicious and left me wanting more.
1 star for having good food, nothing to write home to mom about besides the croutons though.
1 star for the bread plate with roasted garlic and a balsamic reduction, mmm.
As for dessert, we left and went down to the fire pit just below the restaurant and picked up a s'more kit from the pool bar - yes!!! -

I ate at 21 degrees north last night, which is considered to be the flagship the Turtle Bay resort dining. The food was pretty good and the service was fine right until the end.
There was some confusion at the end of the meal. Our food was thrown away instead of boxed. This was upsetting to say the least as we paid easily 50$ dollars a steak. When we asked about the mistake with the waiter he was more than rude about it raising his voice and becoming loud enough for the tables around us to hear.
We spoke to the manager who offered to replace the steaks. He also promised to get back with us on something else he could do. He never did.....
Finally the Hotel manager got involved and upgraded my sisters room to a super nice cottage on the ocean! Way to go hotel manager :) -

Can I just say that the food here is DE-LISH! My boyfriend decided to bring me here for no special occasion, but simply to treat me to a fancy dinner. I know, right? Such a sweetheart! Anyway, enough about him! Let's talk about the experience!
Before we got to the restaurant we had to walk through this mini-indoor garden-like walkway. The description is poor, I know, but it's difficult to describe. It's a cute, yet small area, nice enough for a little bit of picture taking.
We came on a weekday night and my bf had made dinner reservations ahead of time. Although it wasn't busy at the time we came, I would still recommend making reservations just in case it does get very busy because you DON'T want to miss out! When we got to the restaurant the hostess was very pleasant, and immediately sat us at a small table right by the window. It was PERFECT! We were able to see the water, as well as the sunset.
Everything we had was plated well, including the bread and butter! (Which by the way was amazing as well, as it came with roasted garlic, and a bit of olive tapenade). To start I ordered the Jalepeno Martini and the Kahuku Shrimp, Avocado & Heart of Palm salad (about $13 for the salad). The martini was just as spicy as I expected it to be, which was great because I LOVE spicy! The salad was fresh, the shrimp was cooked well, and the dressing (a passion fruit vinaigrette) was nice and light. I despise thick and heavy dressings! I was pleasantly surprised at how well the passion fruit vinaigrette went with the shrimp!
For my entree I opted for the Salmon Fillet which ran close to $30. It came with herb couscous, shaved fennel and asparagus, and a bit of mango salsa. I was so glad I ordered it! Let me tell you...I love me some salmon, and I absolutely dislike when salmon is overcooked! This salmon though was beautifully cooked, and it wasn't the least bit dry. Also, the fennel slaw that they "decorated" the top of the fillet with was SO GOOD!
My bf opted for the chef's menu paired with wines. His meal was a total of 5 courses all of which I had a chance to taste. If you have a hard time choosing what to eat, and have the opportunity to try it, I definitely recommend Chef's tasting menu.
Overall, dinner was wonderful! If it hadn't been for the fact I was sitting in such nice restaurant with a few other couples sitting nearby, I would've licked my plate clean! Now that I think about it..I don't think there was even a single grain of couscous left on on it! Yes..it was THAT good! If you're looking for a nice place to take your significant other, I definitely recommend this place! The drive out may be long, the food may be a bit pricey, but the scenery is beautiful, the staff are attentive, and the food..OH the FOOD is amazing! -

I was on my honeymoon, staying at the Turtle Bay Resort. We had an 8:30pm reservation and arrived a bit early. We were seated right away by the window with a great view. It was a Wednesday, so the place wasn't crowded. I had read on here that the service was slow, which was true, but it helped to provide a relaxing atmosphere. Although slow, the service was excellent. Our glasses were always full with fruit infused water and my husband always had beer on-hand. The diver scallop appetizer was absolutely delicious. My husband said the salmon was among the best he had ever had. I had their signature martini which was very tasty and potent. My opakapaka was interesting and good. The chocolate souffle was pretty standard. Overall excellent.

My husband and I had the pleasure of celebrating our third wedding anniversary here and planned it for our last evening at Turtle Bay. We had checked the menu out and were pretty excited to eat here. The service was great - Amy the hostess and Mike the server were really nice. The view was incredible and the place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. It definitely encouraged quiet, romantic conversation...however we could hear a patron next to us practically yelling about the history of surfing. The sermon was quite interesting although if the kids have to be quiet - due to their "no kids making noise policy" (see below) - then shouldn't the adults adhere to an "indoor voice" as well? Anyhoo, maybe the patron had some martinis before we got there.
The food was good but our mango goat cheese salad was missing the pineapple croutons and our mango was not roasted as the menu suggests. I was excited to try the martinis since my husband pointed out they have a mixologist that creates them especially for 21 Degrees North. My martini, Sandy Peach, was good but - warning - it has a very strong alcohol content! I thought I was going to breathe fire upon consumption :)
We decided against more appetizers as we had a huge late lunch at Ola but loved the bread basket we were served. They have a small menu and were out of the Moi which I was going to get so I opted for the Opakapaka - which was very tender and delicious! I loved the clams and cut up green beans mixed with the risotto. Definitely tender and crunchy just how I like it! My husband had the salmon and happily munched away. The only thing we felt we were missing was something different. We have gone to many many many restaurants and this one just did not stand out as much as we thought it would. The view was fantastic (we watched our favorite paddle boarder into the sunset). We had a good meal with good service but I guess we were just looking for something more. Maybe we'll need to come back and give it another try!
Note to parents: There is a "keep quiet" policy for kids. One little boy was in the restaurant while we dined and he was quiet as a mouse, we forgot he was there! If your little one does not sit quietly, this may not be the place for you. -

This was certainly one of the best meals we had the entire time we were on Oahu. The roasted North Shore tomato soup was delicious and the fish (I had ahi, my husband had the opakapaka) were of the highest quality. We finished with a chocolate souffle.
This meal rivaled some of the meals I've had in top end Manhattan restaurants.Listed in: Visiting Oahu

If you are staying on the North Shore you should definetley go to 21 Degrees North. We started off with some of their signature cocktails at the bar. The bar tender was very friendly and recommended 2 martinis for us.
We then headed to our table and I ordered the surf and turf which comes with a filet and Maine lobster tail and claws that are actually farm raised in Kona. Who knew.
The filet was not the best I've had. It was a bit to large and overcooked for a "medium". But overall better than average.
The presentation of the food was nice and the staff very friendly and attentive.
They have a really great wine list with a nice selection of Cabernets.
We ordered the chocolate soufle for desert which takes about 20 min to prepare.
Overall a nice dining experience. -

Staying at Turtle Bay for our anniversary, my husband and I decided to make this our big fancy splurge dinner.
It. Was. Incredible.
Definitely make reservations. We made them for kind of late because we had a full day. The restaurant is quiet and dark, nice ambiance. They put us in this cute little booth in the window with a couch. We sat next to each other on the couch instead of across the table like you usually would. Really intimate.
They have this fabulous water (yeah, I know, that sounds funny), that they infuse with not only lemons, but limes, oranges, and pineapple. Wasn't sure I was going to like it but wow! It was so good. The flavors were subtle and just hinted at, adding to the whole thing.
They brought out bread and some flat crackers with butter and roasted garlic before our meals. It was very good.
For appetizers, my husband got the tomato soup and I got the grilled hearts of romaine. He loved his soup. It was thick and creamy and came with these little pastry puffs to add texture (no flavor), and a bit of basil pesto in the middle of the soup. I don't like tomato soup but I tried some and even I liked it. My salad was incredible. The pineapple croutons were literally fresh chunks of pineapple, lightly breaded and deep fried. So good. with romaine lettuce, big slices of Romano cheese, and an amazing garlic dressing. They don't put much dressing, but it is more than enough, and goes surprisingly well with the pineapple. I wanted to go back just to get another one of those!!
For dinner, my husband got the filet mignon and I got the Kona lobster. He got his filet rare, and it came out perfect. It was a nice portion, big, and the outside was perfectly cooked and the inside was perfectly rare. The meat so tender. It came with truffled mashed potatoes which were good too and some veggies around it in the red wine sauce. The sauce was a really nice addition.
I got my lobster without the asparagus and with the garlic vegetables instead. Substituting was no problem, which was nice. It was a whole lobster, already peeled and put on the plate. It came with saffron risotto- which was probably my favorite part of the dish. It was the best risotto I've had outside of Italy, and it was salty and you could taste the saffron just enough that it flavored it well without being overpowering. The white wine sauce on it was wonderful, and not too lemony, which was nice.
We also both got martinis. My husband got the Sandy Peach, which basically tasted like a peach ring (his favorite!). I got the Haupia Pie, and it was the best drink I've ever had in my life. Rich and creamy and just so, so good. Apparently they have a woman there (Alison, I think her name was) who is known for her drinks and created all of the martinis for the restaurant. They are like nothing you can find anywhere else. Delicious and worth going there just for the drinks!
This was our favorite dinner of the trip. Yes, it is expensive, but so worth it to save up and eat there. Try as much as you can- the simple sounding appetizers are incredible (as we experienced) and the dinners are delectable. I wish we could have gone back again! -
Review from Diana C.
Food is only okay (bread plate with garlic was delicious though!), service is alright, and ambiance is nice, but there really aren't enough people around to make it worthwhile. I had the seabass that was mushy and bland. My boyfriend had the filet which was only okay. Drinks are pretty good, but overall the price isn't really worth it. Dessert was amazing though.... mm....chocolate mousse.

Service was nice, food was good, view was lovely. The hot tub was just next to our table though, and the lights were a little too bright and those alone were enough to spoil the otherwise nice ambience.

We stayed at Turtle Bay for our honeymoon, and heard great things about this restaurant. We ended up staying an extra day just to come here, and it was well worth it.
This is fine dining at its finest on the North Shore.
The restaurant was very elegant, and the service was impeccable.
We started with fresh warm bread, butter and an olive spread. We also ordered the foie gras which I highly recommend. It was to die for... :) My husband got the lamb, I got the wagyu beef and we shared. Very juicy, cooked to perfection. The portions are big, so come hungry. For dessert, we had the creme brulee trio, i believe it was vanilla, pistachio, and coffee. Great way to finish off an awesome meal.
We both rave about this restaurant to this day. :) -

This is our absolute favorite restaurant that we have visited so far in our travels so far. It's also in our absolute favorite resort, the Turtle Bay Resort in the North Shore of Oahu.
We ate here two years ago the night I proposed. Everything was perfect that evening: great appetizers, entrees, and desserts. The service was impeccable as well. The thing that was truly amazing about the meal was the filet mignon. The meat was the most tender I've ever had, no joke! The knife glided across the meat as if it was cutting butter.
For almost two years, we would go to steak places and would always compare it to the 21 Degrees North filet and nothing could ever compare. Well this summer, we decided it was time to go back. We were most afraid that the restaurant would be a huge disappointment and cause us to look for another favorite.
Let me tell you, there is no doubt in my mind that this place is still my favorite. We actually were able to eat there TWICE this visit.
Appetizers: Pan Seared Foie Gras & Grilled Romaine Salad
She had the foie gras and she absolutely LOVED it. She said it was literally like butter and the sauce that it sat in was amazing. She loves foie gras and she said it was the best she ever had.
The Grilled Romaine was very good as well. The romaine was slightly grilled and the caesar like dressing was perfect. They also used slightly battered and fried pineapples as "local croutons."
Entrees: Filet Mignon with Lobster (Surf & Turf)
We both got the same entree. Obviously, we could have chose other options, but we both had to have the filet since we dreamt of it for two years. It did not disappoint. The same buttery goodness, perfectly cooked and perfectly seasoned. The lobster was so juicy and tender. It sat on a bed of saffron risotto that was absolutely amazing. I LOVE risotto and this was the best I ever had.
Dessert: Trio of Creme Brulee
We love Creme Brulee. Traditional vanilla bean. Some places have good ones, some have mediocre, but usually it tastes ok. At 21 Degrees, they had vanilla, coffee, AND pistachio. All the flavors were amazing we did not leave a single bit left.
21 Degrees North has a special place in our heart, not only because of the food, but also because of special events that have happened before and after dining there. All sentiments aside, the food is amazing, their ingredients are extremely fresh, and service is impeccable(the second out of the three times we dined there, the waiter was just average, but nothing can blind us from the great food). We look forward to the next time (hopefully soon) that we will able to dine there. -

I have waited way, way too long to write this review. My hubs and I went here for Valentine's Day, and ever since, I have consistently been telling people this was arguably the best meal I've ever had...and not just because I was pretty toasted by the time we left....We were the youngest couple in the restaurant probably by about 10 or so years from what I could see. There were several retiree looking couples and a few middle agers. That being said, the classy lady that I am ordered the 5 course tasting menu with the wine pairings. I expected that like with most pairings, it would be more tasting size pours than full glasses....wrong!! By the end of dinner I had drank 5 generous pours of 5 fabulous different varities...that's at least a whole bottle of wine...I weigh 110#...see where this is going? Here we are in this beautiful, refined establishment, grown-ups all around, some guy proposing to his gf, and I'm trying not to stumble out of the place! It was great!
Get the 5 course dinner. I really don't think there's any other way to experience everything this place has to offer. It's a little mix of surf and turf and it'll get you eating things you might not have tried before! I had never had smoked salmon, and now I'm obssessed! I never liked asparagus, until I tried it here, I swear! Not only that, but cavier! Yum!! It also rekindled my love for seabass and butterfish. The service was also phenomenal.
For the food, I don't think that the price was outrageous, but it is defnitely too pricey to be an everyday place, although I wish it could be! But be forewarned...or look forward to, those wine pairings!! -

21 Degrees North is a must on your culinary adventures if you are in Oahu! The drive up from Honolulu is beautiful and the meal at the end of the drive is worth the trip!
Chef John Anderson's menu is superb! The fois gras preparation is to die for. The caesar salad is unique and the pineapple "croutons" are yummy! Don't miss the Opakapaka and the Crab Crusted Hawaiian Sea Bass. Both are indescribably fantastic!
It's a long way from Columbus, Ohio to Turtle Bay but I almost think that that meal alone is worth the price of the trip!

It was our day-before anniversary dinner and we were staying at Turtle Bay Resort. We went down for dinner and they quickly sat us. It was a really classy looking restaurant and my casual resort wear dress was looking a bit ghetto. But phew! Checked out other customers and they were dressed in slippers, khaki shorts, etc. which made me feel at ease. Sat down and checked out the drink menu. Lets just say we had a few. We tried the 21* North martini, Hawaiian Lime martini, Lanikea, and Koloa martini. We only had two each but sheesh, they were stiff. And not stiff taste-wise but you can tell the vodka they used was pretty top of the line since our martini's tasted like juice. I ordered the opakapaka which was served with a risotto with pipikaula bits and my husband ordered the pepper crusted ahi which was served seared. The server also gave us some chiabatta bread and lavosh which I couldn't stop eating. Our food was really good on top of our drinks! We also topped the night off with a chocolate souffle dessert that was heavenly. The service was pretty on it, had to wait a little bit but not to the point of being irritable. The cost of our dinner was pretty hefty but worth it. The ambiance and my husband made it even worth it more.

Another movie locale (Forgetting Sarah Marshall...while somewhat lame, it's a movie that we don't mind watching whenever it comes on, especially the ads for the 'upcoming television series' that feature the fictional actress Sarah Marshall). We made reservations, arrived about 15 minutes early, but were seated right away at a table overlooking the ocean. Beautiful view of the sunset! Make sure you ask for this when either making your reservation or upon arrival. As many have pointed out, the place really never got crowded. Whether it's because of the location or the price, it's a shame because the food is wonderful! I had the Kona lobster (yes, very extravagant and pricey!) and Hubby went for the crusted sea bass. My braised lobster tail was excellent! Seasonings made it different from the usual lobster tail, and it had a real sweet and buttery taste and texture. I asked for sides of vegetables only and kitchen accommodated with a selection of squashes, asparagus, and roasted fennel! Wow, that was worth the price. Hubby had a side of house rice with his sea bass that was also excellent. Again, the chef has a way with the seasonings. We finished off with the chocolate soufflé and Kona coffee. It's definitely right up there as a five-star restaurant, but due to location, not really worth the drive. And, unless you are staying at the resort, if you have one too many, the roads going back to either Honolulu or Kapolei can be treacherous and dark.

I was pleasantly surprised given the previous reviews. The ambience was great and the food was delicious. I had the Honey Girl martini to start off and it is definitely one of my new favorites. Anything with shrimp on the menu is yummy, of course Kahuku shrimp is succulent, and they prepare it perfectly. I had the crab encrusted sea bass and that did not disappoint but I was particularly impressed with their chocolate soufflé, it was not too sweet and had just the right amount of cocoa flavor, awesome!
You may want to book a reservation before 7pm since the allure of the restaurant is the breathtaking view and once the sun sets, then you just get to overlook the pool lights. -

Everything was amazingly fresh and delectable. Wonderful atmosphere and great service too, I highly recommend it! Best Lychee martini I've ever had

We went here for Christmas eve and had a great time. We weren't staying at the Turtle Bay resort but it didn't matter we still got a reservation. Be prepared for the bread appetizer they bring for free, I'm usually not sucked into eating the bread basket but they brought the bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, butter and baked melt in your mouth whole garlic cloves. We started with the seafood sampler and had the Braised Kona Lobster and Wagyu New York Strip Loin with a nice bottle of wine. 5 star dinner for sure.

I went over the Thanksgiving holiday to Oahu and stayed at Turtle Bay Resort. I had traditional turkey dinner on Thanksgiving at 21 Degrees North restaurant. It was pricey but delicious. The wine that came with the food also was good. You can't eat like this every night but there must have been around 3,000 calories consumed that night. I would highly recommend the restaurant. The service was fine but probably not 5-stars.

The restaurant was beautiful and yet still casual. My husband was able to wear jeans, but its Hawaii so I guess that's a given!
They did not have much in way of vegetarian dishes so they made a special dish just for my husband with the mushroom risotto and a mix of vegetables that they let him pick! It was delicious!
I had the fresh caught hamachi which was pretty decent, it was a very large serving that I could barely finish.
The second highlight of the meal (first was the mushroom risotto!) was the trio of creme brulee. Every single one of them had a unique flavor but until now we still talk about the Kona coffee flavor creme brulee! Next time we go we're going to ask for that by itself!
The martini's were delicious as well, even the water was fruity and unique. All in all, we would go back again! -

Views are breathtaking and service was very good, unfortunately the food didn't quite match. Considering that this is turtle bay's "premier" restaurant, I was expecting a little bit more. I ordered a filet mignon cooked to medium and it came out well done. Perhaps it was a fluke, but for a restaurant of this stature, this shouldn't have been done. The food was fine, but for the location and price, I expect more.

21 Degrees North is the top restaurant at the Turtle Bay Resort on the north shore of Oahu. It is elegant with good views. the service is unobtrusive and dependable and the food is sublime. I had their 5 course meal with the paired wines. The fish were delectable and the wines well suited. Their a la carte choices are also excellent. It is expensive (but not so compared to high class restaurants on the West Coast) and not large enough so it may feel crowded and noisy when large groups are present. But overall if you stay at the resort and are tired of the buffets at the Palm Terrace and the noise at Lei Lei's and Ola this is where you should go for quality and service.

We live near Turtle Bay and don't go there often enough. It's such a beautiful property. We had a 6pm reservation and were seated right away. We each started with a specialty martini which were both great: I had the lavender infused martini and my husband had the lime martini. Next we had oysters on the half shell, best oysters on the island, as always. Briney, full of flavor. LOVE THEM. We both had the surf and turf, lobster and filet mignon. The lobster is shelled, with both claws, on a bed of risotto with a delicate cream sauce that made a combo to die for. The filet was some of the finest tender beef we've had in a long time. The filet came with mashed potato and a demi glace type sauce which complemented the beef perfectly. Add some just-right cooked veg (not too soft, not crunchy) and wow. Could barely finish it but what a shame to leave any! We took our waiter's advice (Rick) and ordered a full-bodied cabernet, don't remember the name, but it was perfect. For dessert, we were so full, we couldn't imagine eating any more so what else could we order but a couple of chocolate truffle martinis? We left stuffed and happy. Service was top-notch, not too familiar, not too formal. We could see the sun set over the water and several surfers out the window. A very romantic setting, quiet and elegant. The best fine dining on the North Shore.
