I took my wife here about a year ago and I still feel like I need to yelp about the place. Our meal was great, the atmosphere was awesome, and the waitress was very nice and attentive. This must have made a lasting impression on me because I still remember the awesome meal that we had! I ordered the petit filet with sautéed cauliflower and my wife had a seafood dish that she raved about.
My meal was absolutely perfect, I ordered it medium rare and it was exactly how I expect medium rare to be cooked. It was seasoned very well and was served with a delicious sauce on the side. Far too often I will order a steak somewhere and they will put the sauce on top which to me is just rude. I like to taste the quality of the beef then decide whether it needs the sauce. In this case it didn't but the sauce was so good I used it with the cauliflower too! Oh and that brings me to the cauliflower, it was amazing. I like cauliflower, but I would never say that I loved it until I had it sautéed at 208 Talbot. It was lightly browned and had a seasoning salt that was really good. I convinced my wife to duplicate it at home and it is now my favorite side dish.
I ordered one of the specialty drinks and it was very good. It was a brandy drink and I can't remember the name but it was delish. We had a great time and would highly recommend this for anyone who wants a very romantic setting.

    Food was fair at best.
Short ribs could't be eaten sooo chewy
salad was a bed of tasteless greens
Left to go elsewhere for desert where we knew food quality was superior
    Prices were high

My husband and I just got back from a trip to St. Michaels. I chose 208 Talbot as our "fancy" dinner for the weekend.

To start off our evening, we ordered drinks from the Specialty Cocktails menu. My husband got the New Pal (Jim Beam Rye Whiskey, Campari, Sweet Vermouth, a Rinse of Absinthe, a Dash of Bitters, on the Rock) and I got the Peartini (Grey Goose La Poire, Disaronno Amaretto, Fresh Lemon Juice, a Splash of Simple Syrup, Up with a Twist). My husband did not enjoy his cocktail at all. He said the Absinthe was too strong and that it basically tasted like cough syrup. My drink was good, it wasn't too sweet.

For our first course, we shared the Local Heirloom Tomato Salad and the Watermelon Salad. Both were delicious and the portions were very generous. Main course I got the Chinese Five-Spice NY Strip Steak and my husband got "Pork 2-Way". The steak was good, but I think the  Five-Spice was a little overpowering. The dish came with julienne vegetables, which were good, but I think a potato side dish would have been better. The pork was definitely the better dish of the two. It was tender and the grits and charred corn were delicious! For dessert we shared a cheesecake. It wasn't anything special.

Overall, I enjoyed our dinner here and most likely will come back to try out other items on the menu.

Ate here last year and the service was good but the food was uninspiring. It was pretty full that night, though. Best thing about it was the ambiance-very romantic. Maybe they have improved the food since then...

Food was decent. Ambiance nice. Servers pleasant. Ordered the steak, frites, & creamed spinach. Fries were nothing special. Steak was delish but the sauce (which you must buy separately for $2 - a bit cheesy for my taste. Just give me a sauce choice with my steak. Charge more for the meat if you want) was not great. I tried the house steak sauce, didn't like it (too smokey?  Little like BBQ sauce which I didn't want on a fine steak) so asked for red win reduction instead. It was just ok.  Spinach was bland - a little salt goes a long way toward flavoring it. Portions were enormous - enough to feed 3-4 people. I'd probably not go back when there are other, more impressive choices in town (try Ava's, it's outstanding).

    Laid-back chichi done RIGHT!
This place gave us the relaxed bells and whistles that we were looking for at date night. Our first visit to 208 Talbot was pretty close to exactly what we were looking for tonight.

Atmosphere was cozy and darling, but modern enough. Exposed brick walls, fireplace, and reclaimed wooden thresholds all give it a nice touch.

The only awkward moment came with the pre-game bread basket we were served. Smelled heavenly, but bread was totally uncooked in center (dough was still wet and sticky). Made us unnecessarily uneasy about what was to come. So the bread wasn't a home run, relax, it is about to get pretty stinking amazing.

Appetizer: Fried Oysters served with a caper mayo and serrano ham
Served to us with a gratis glass of champagne that made us cheerlead for the chef. The appetizer was just big enough for the two of us - a perfect palate whetter.

Salad: We shared the Very Local Poached Egg Salad - Duck Confit, Curly Endive, Bread Crumbs, Warm Dijon Vinaigrette. Yes, we'll have some more please!

Main Course: He had the Sea Scallops and Brussels Sprouts. I had the Lamb Ragu. We shared both. Our taste buds were having a party all night long.

We got dessert to go - Pumpkin Pie to share - and enjoying every bite.

Last, but VERY importantly - Service was stellar. Jen was our server and gave us great recommendations, good attention to refilling our glasses, and even some enjoyable conversation.

This dinner + a bottle of wine ran us about $150. Definitely a pricey date night, but 100% worth it for a special memory!

I had the NY Strip and "mashed potatos", with the sweet potoato soup as an appetizer. The steak was cooked very well and was flavorful. The potatos though were extremely salty (as confirmed by the couple next to us who ordered the same thing). The sweet potato soup was just ok as I thought it was overly sweet to the point where I couldn't finish it.

The service was very good, but the food was just ok. My wife's scallops were fantastic though. Her soup was just ok as well.

I would go back, but I would make sure to order something different. I also think the prices are too high for the quality of food. I think it's priced this way because this is the one of the better restaurants in a tourist spot. Put this restaurant in any midsized city and it would just be considered an overpriced place.

I live in NYC but was down with my girlfriend (stayed at Inn at Perry Cabin which is a great B&B) for the weekend.  We were planning on hitting up a crab shack on Saturday night but walked into 208 Talbot during the day and decided to go there for dinner.

They offer casual drinks/dining in the bar area and more formal dining in a few rooms beyond the bar.  I was still in flip-flops so we opted for the bar.

We saddled up to the bar for a drink.  It's a classic and cool marble-top bar manned by a surprisingly knowledgeable bartender (I'm a drink snob).  A chalkboard highlights about two dozen wines by the glass - good selection.

Had a couple of drinks then decided to get after it.  The menu's got good variety - from shellfish to red meat.

I started with crab cake (had to) served over a fried green tomato and with Russian dressing which was kick a$$.  She had a Caesar salad and had no complaints.

Entrees: I did a grilled rockfish served whole with southern-style greens and hushpuppies.  The rockfish was tender/flaky seasoned tastefully (not overdone).  She had skate served with a white/butter sauce, escargot and some potato salad.  I generally don't like skate b/c of the texture, but it was really good.  We didn't have room for dessert, but the options sounded awesome.

Definitely check this out if you ever find yourself in St. Michaels.

Don't Miss! Chef Brendan Keegan's 208 Talbot Restaurant is considered by many to be one the best restaurants on the Eastern Shore, if not all of Maryland.
What should you try? I'd say everything, and on Saturday night they have a price fixe meal ($55) of four courses selected from the entire menu.
At lunch try the fried catfish b.l.t. with apple wood smoked bacon, or the 'Cuban' sandwhich with roast pork, ham and chili mayo.

This review is for 208 Burger, which is the bar area of the restuarant.

Hands down the best burger I've had on the eastern shore. Very simple menu, with some fun twists. I had the lamb burger with tzaziki and goat cheese. Also had some cheese fries and tried the milkshake. They offer spiked milk shakes. It' really a legit burger; highly recommended. Also recommend the warm almonds to munch on while you wait.

Inside a quaint historic building, 208 talbot is an intimate and special place to share a meal with your partner. The front room is a bar with casual seating and a friendly bartender, while the back rooms are all small in size and big on charm. The food is delicious - for the very best go with a fresh fish entree - they're all perfection!

Enjoyed our dinner at 208 Talbot.  Service was good and felt the staff was experienced and well versed on the menu.  The food met our expectations and was well plated.  They had a great choice of wines in every price range.  Would definitely return again.

We found this place to be highly overrated, and just did not find one thing about it to recommend to others.  There are better restaurants in this town, and even in this block.
We had dinner on a weekday.  They were not even half full, yet the service was perfunctory.
Entrees were ok.  A side dish of asparagus was overcooked and inedible.
We shared an appetitizer and did not drink or have coffee or dessert, yet our bill was $83 not indluding tip.  Way overpriced for what we received.
We should have listened to the fellow travelers who tried to steer us to thee Key Lime Cafe across the street.

A SHADOW OF ITS FORMER SELF.  I hate to write bad reviews, but anyone expecting the level of cuisine and service of years past will be extremely disappointed. My entree (pork) was tough to the point of being hard to cut, and when I sent it back, the result was the same. Meanwhile, the waiter mixed up ours and the next table's wine. The resulting offer to discount the check did not even amount to the cost of our inadequate entree, and I had to insist on it's being removed. We will not be back.

My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner last weekend.  The food was excellent.  I had the filet mignon and my wife had the scallops.  Price was high, but expected for a nice meal.  The reason for the 3-star is because of the service.  My wife and I have both worked in the restaurant business for multiple years and are glad to leave 20% if not more service.  However, the girl who waited on us was very nice, but very unattentive.  After receiving our food, she never returned back until we were ready for the check.  I guess they just banked on the food being that good.  She never once refilled our wine.  Once again, not a big deal (I enjoy using the tools god has given me) but she looked surprised to see our wine bottle was empty when she returned.  What did she expect.  Unfortunately, after taking off the bottle of wine, she would have received a little over 12%.
Overall, food was excellent, service was nice, but poor!

Great food. Fried oysters for appetizers were great. I had the filet mignon and my wife had the salmon. Both were prepared well.  The filet had a lot of flavor and was a very generous portion size.  Dessert was also excellent.

Great service.  Our waitress was very sweet and quick with refilling our wine glasses and the timing of the food was perfect.

Great ambience.  The restaurant is very quaint and homey.

Overall excellent dining experience in line with a weekend in St. Michaels.

My wife and I drove to St. Michael's for lunch (from Montgomery Co) during our 'staycation'. The drive during the week was fine, no traffic and once we arrived to St. Michael's parking was a cinch. When we got to 208 Talbot we started with a few of their craft beers and ordered a couple of burgers. The burgers were some of the best I have ever had. They were cooked to perfection, were not greasy and came on a perfectly toasted bun. We got an order of the fries with that, which were crisped to perfection. The service was spot-on (though since it was a late lunch we were the only ones there). It was well worth the drive for the burger and would go back in a heartbeat for another one or to try dinner.

This is a great fine dinning restaurant! Service was great, the food was amazing. Very cosy atmosphere on a cold winter night! This is defiantly on the more pricer side, so be prepared but well worth it. The filet is amazing as well as the fried oysters and tomato soup.

The burgers are to die for!  The lamb burger with caramalized onions and goat cheese is just amazing. And don't miss out on their awesome french fries- thin and fried just right- hot with a little salt- they are so yummy- my mouth is watering just typing this!   The onion rings are great too!  I think it's the best burgers I've ever eaten!  Make sure to visit when in town.  One day I'll try other stuff on the menu, but it's too hard to steer away from the burgers!

Best meal I've had in a long time! My husband and I did the $40 fixed price menu. I'm thinking that the portions would be on the smaller side since that's what I'm used to in DC, especially when you're ordering off a fixed price menu. The portions weren't small at all and everything was fantastic! I had the grilled octopus with eggplant puree (which I'm still thinking about as I type), crab cakes with potato salad and fried green tomatoes and for dessert, the pecan pie sundae.  My husband had the cured salmon, scallops with mashed sweet potatoes, and then a Belgium mousse pastry. Our waiter was very nice and attentive. I can't wait to go back!
