Updating this review to 5 stars -- after another great visit.
Much to my surprise, 208 Garfield does carry out! Perfect, as on my recent visit I was more comfortable scarfing a salad and smoked salmon wrap on my fiance's couch rather than sitting in the restaurant (hey, it was a lazy day...don't judge).
There are four really solid dining establishments on Garfield -- 208, Farelli's, Reyna's, and Marzano -- and all are worth your cash and time. For a tiny college campus like Pacific Lutheran, that lineup is pretty awesome. 208 takes the cake!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Gourmet food comes in unpretentious packages.
This place is casual enough to come in your yoga pants, laptop in hand. Yet, the food is sophisticated enough to expect the pork belly to be cooked right. The fat is rendered, the meat is tender, and the skin is crisp. It comes with a jicama slaw and mustard seeds to round it out.
Pair this with the al dente pasta and pesto, and you've got a good thing going for under $20.
This establishment is an extension of PLU and offers a place for students to work their way through college.
I love when I can eat, but eating with a purpose...well, that just makes me a good person. -

Gourmet food, reasonable prices, and a decent happy hour.
They serve Stumptown coffee, which immediately puts 208 in its own category of good, non-chain cafes.
Dessert is amazing. I recommend their Creme Fraiche Gelato with Oat Crumble Topping and Blackberry. Their cheese and charcuterie is also delicious. Some of my favorite paninis include the Italian Grilled Cheese and the Grilled Smoked Turkey Sandwich with house-made Pesto and Parmigiano Reggiano.
Definitely my favorite place in Parkland (it's probably the only place I go to consistently in the area). The one thing that would bump this 4.5 star review to a 5 star is larger portions. -

What a great little place. Really good food.scratch that- GREAT food. It was slightly hard to grasp at first. I looked at the munu for 30 minutes, back and forth, flipping it over and back again.. but whatever it is you have ordered is sure to be a nice little pit of heaven, i think. Reminds me of an episode of "CHOPPED" Try it out. Get several items. The prices are half of what they should be. There is talent and joy behing this restaraunt. Perfect for a light lunch. not great for large parties (small)

Great food! I love this place. What I didn't love were the smallish portions.

VERY impressed! My boyfriend and I decided to come here on a whim one day and it happened to be Happy Hour. Our bill was less than 30$ with food, drinks, and dessert. The food is fresh and delicious and everything has a gourmet feeling to it. My boyfriend is a PLU alumnus and he was so excited about the menu mentioning the wineries and breweries that the drinks came from were ones owned by PLU alumnis. We will definitely come here often. The prices for the non-happy hour menu were very reasonable as well!
Our favorites so far: Garlic White Bean Spread and the Bread Pudding Bites for dessert. -

208 is just about the only decent café around PLU. Vegetarian options include the Tuscan bread salad, penne pasta with pesto, beet salad with Samish Bay Ladysmith cheese, pomodoro soup, and a couple panini sandwiches--all very tasty. I don't recommend the vegan Caesar salad. Great desserts (hearty portions!), rotating beer and wine selections, and good cheeses & olives. 208 pulls a great espresso as well (they brew Stumptown roasts). Depending on the barista, lattés and mochas can be hit and miss--they have a tendency to brew things in paper cups even if you specify "for here," which is super irksome to me but maybe not so much for others. The whole place is wrapped up in an environmental consciousness typical of PLU establishments (a good thing). Very reasonable prices, especially during Happy Hour.

We went to 208 Garfeild for the second time. We really love this place. Menu is unique. Didn't know what some items were so asked. Waitress was very informative as to what the menu items were. We will stop in again soon

Wow, I'm so impressed! We went here for happy hour today and it was outstanding. The wine selection on tap is incredible...and then there is the happy hour food. You get large servings of wonderful, fresh, local delicious fare. We actually ordered one of everything on the happy hour menu. My favorite was the Smashed Potato with Cambozola and Olive Oil. Pure genius! And all plates were just $4 each! Of course we also had to have dessert. The bread pudding bites were to die for with the chocolate and caramel sauce. We had one of everything on the happy hour menu and 5 glasses of wine, 2 coffees, 2 desserts and the bill came to just under $60 for all of that!
But here's the best part...it's owned by PLU and profits go to benefit their various scholarship funds. Employees are students who change each quarter. Imagine being able to do your work study in this environment! Also many of the vendors are PLU graduates who own local farms, companies, etc.
Service was top notch, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable with the wines and cheeses. I look forward to my next trip to Parkland just to stop in here. Huge thumbs up! -

Finally, the Forza Coffee in Garfield Commons has more or less renamed itself as 208 Garfield, and the new logo and title suggests a continuation of the recasting of fare.
Want:
Hestia, Wilridge, McCrea, and Fidelitas wines (some on tap)?
Happy hour from 3-6?
Fascinating paninis ($6 for prosciutto, taleggio and fig!)?
A grilled Nutella panini?
A BLT salad with phenomenal house-made ranch?
Hearty chickpea soup, bursting with just-tender chickpeas?
Small plates with pork belly or short ribs, or gelato for dessert, or beet salad, or various local beers on tap, or a cheese plate, or pretty much anything a foodie stuck south of Tacoma could crave?
Then go check it out. I can't tell you how thrilled - thrilled! - I am to have this in the area, and to see the ongoing evolution of this as a little food oasis with, to this Seattleite, incredibly inexpensive pricing.Comment from Jennifer S. of 208 Garfield 1/24/2011

This new restaurant is exactly what this short stretch between leafy PLU and the noisy traffic of Pacific Avenue needs-- a pleasant, well-run, and friendly destination, open at all kinds of hours, and serving interesting and sophisticated food choices at very reasonable prices.
No disrespect to the Forza's coffee shop which formerly occupied this space, and served really good coffee; and no disrespect also to Marzano's, which, further down the street, serves seriously good Italian food. 208 Garfield is a wonderful, casual, drop-in-when-you feel like it place, and the food is very, very good. -

Parkland, WA
The wine list was interesting and featured some excellent Washington and Oregon wines. We had a glass of delicious Washington Merlot and Oregon Pinot Noir. We each had one of the sandwiches and they were excellent. This is a welcome addition to the choices available in the area near PLU.
