This restaurant is a great place to take mom, dad, grandma and grandpa. The food was good, but what won me over was the staff. Everyone was very nice, courteous, and attentive.

We were greetd with a male, i believe he was the chef, not sure. his name was tony. He had a very warm feel to him.

overall. it was a great staff who  was very hospitable. but if you are young like i am (please , I am young) 26, you may want to avoid this place.

Last we checked, this place is closed. Nevertheless, we lost over $1000 dealing with these people!

My fiance and I liked event planner Anthony Navarro when we decided to hold our wedding reception at 200 East Supperclub in downtown Chicago.

Anthony referred to the place as "...my father's restaurant..." and introduced us to his dad. That was in February.

In early August, not even six weeks before the wedding, Anthony told us that the restaurant had closed and that the owner (not his dad) had absconded with the money in the restaurant bank account.

Anthony then explained that his father only managed the restaurant, and that even though we signed a contract provided by Anthony and never conducted business with anyone there but him and his dad, that  somehow they were not legally responsible for our loss of venue so we should sue the actual owner.

To be fair, Anthony did provide a name for the owner and did offer us catering services at two other venues. However, those venues proved too small for our party and we had to cancel the contract.

But we have not gotten our money back.

Moreover, after asking the management at the Seneca Hotel, where the 200 East Supperclub was located, how long the restaurant had been closed, we discovered that place shut down at least a month and a half BEFORE Anthony called us about the loss of venue!

When I confronted him on this, he said that he didn't want to worry us unnecessarily while there was a chance the restaurant might reopen. Well, that strategy made me and my fiance rush like mad to find a new venue at the last minute.

Six weeks before the wedding is NOT the time to pick the reception venue. Especially when we could have had an extra month.

Too bad, because we actually liked the Supperclub's food.

No reason to be here, even if you're staying in the hotel.

Spacious restaurant, where everyone was more interested in the music and singalong in the bar area than dinner in the dining room. That includes the waitstaff, I guess, because they spent minimal time in the dining room. With so few occupied tables, you would think they'd be interested in earning a few tips. But not here.

American and Italian food, nothing worth remembering, nothing worth coming back for. Very ordinary decor, what you'd expect in an outdated suburban river town restaurant. This is the busiest part of a major city, across the street from the John Hancock Bldg and Water Tower Place - what is this restaurant doing here?

My husband and I went to this restaurant on Saturday night after a show at the Chicago Theater. Since we haven't been here long it is often hard for us to know which places are opened late. We were pleased to see this lounge very lively past midnight. The service was excellent. My husband wanted a drink, I wanted dessert ~ kitchen was closed. But that didn't stop our waiter from going to the kitchen and preparing a beautiful banana chocolate chip cake for me (which he highly recommended). We stayed there till the lights came on. The music was great. Live music ended around 1 a.m., but there was still music through the speakers ~ lively and not too loud that you couldn't have a conversation. The crowd was nice, not too young, not too old :o)

I would definitely love to go there again, great place to lounge and relax for any reason, or no reason at all.

I also loved the pictures of The Rat Pack and other artists of the time all over the walls.

This place is a gem! They have a great prix fixe special ($23 for four courses) on Sun-Tues. nights and the food is definitely great quality for the price. The wait staff don't pressure you to order extras or wine--they just let you be. The portions, especially for the main courses, are more than generous and we left with lots to take home. We loved the chicken marsala (lots of fresh mushrooms, great sauce) and the brickhouse chicken is memorable as well.
Love this place and think more people should frequent it!

200 East is a classy yet homey restaurant located on the main level of the historic Seneca Hotel, next to Water Tower Place and the John Hancock Center.  The menu offers Italian fare in a sophisticated atmosphere, a great way to experience a unique take on the traditional Midwest supper club.  The spinach and artichoke dip and crab cakes were pretty good (although being from Maryland originally, I am reserving my crabby crab criticism).  The tomato, onion, and mozzarella salad was a good segue to the main course for our table: Rotini with cipriani sauce (cognac tomato cream) and Chicken Francaise.  Finish things off with an apple and almond dessert a la mode.  Yummy!

A good place if you want to entertain an older crowd like your parents or inlaws. It has a very classy vibe where there is even a live jazz band playing and a dance floor. The kind of place where you walk in and there are pictures of Frank Sinatra and Humphrey Bogart hanging on the wall. Food was pretty good too. Everyone had the fish and seemed happy with it so I'd go for that.

I was not impressed with this restaurant when I ate here over the weekend.  The exterior is great. . . Classy atmosphere, good menu, (almost) reasonable prices . . . But the food was not good at all.  I ordered a pasta dish with chicken and artichoke that was very watery.  I also tasted the brick chicken and I was not impressed.  I admit, I was not there for the live music, which I hear is very good.  But, I would not come back here for a meal ever again.  Maybe for drinks and music.
