I can attest this chain has been consistently strong (from Atlanta to Kansas City to Schaumburg). I've to say the KC location is a more beautiful dining experience. So minus one star for this one in Schaumburg, for not having as impactful a visual appeal.
We are regulars at their happy hour, and few places hold a candle to it. The staff is gracious, the quality of food stupendous, and the prices are reasonable.
Please don't change a thing, Schaumburg M&S, except maybe take some inspiration from KC's location design, but keep it in the burbs. Thanks! :-)

My husband and I dined here recently for the first time. I've never been...and he's been to one in California on a business trip a few years back.
The top of our menu told us where exactly the fresh fish that they were serving that day came from. Pretty neat. I had the 1.25lb Maine lobster. YUM. Came with an ear of corn and red potatoes. Hubby had the swordfish. He said it was excellent. All food - including our crab, shrimp, and artichoke dip - was well prepared.
Pricey? Well, yes, moderately so. We dropped $110 - that included our appetizer mentioned above, our entrees, dessert for each of us, and one glass of Merlot for hubby.
All in all - good dining experience. Would certainly go again!
Janusz and I had lunch here the other day- we love seafood- and this restaurant did not disappoint us. I like my calamari crispy crittered- and they did a good job. Janusz is a soup person and said his clam chowder was very good. But he really liked his planked salmon served on a real cedar plank! My fish was absolutely pefect- only problem I had- they gave me way too much- two large fillets- so I ended up people bagging one piece which made an excellant breakfast the next day. We felt the pricing was more than fair for the food and service we received. The service was very friendly- I think that our waitress might have been busy at first- so we had a wonderful woman who served us our tea followed by a very good waitress. The calamari appetizer was actually entree sized- so be warned! We thought the decor was charming and we will be back.

Let me start by saying, I don't give a 5 star review for the first time visit, unless the experience was beyond exceptional. McCormick & Schmick's is a well executed restaurant with amazing service.
We tried this restaurant for our anniversary. First, we walk in and they printed menus with a "Happy Anniversary" greeting at the top. Both the host and the server congratulated us, immediately. They also called 3 days later to make sure we enjoyed ourselves. I have to applaud their diligence and commitment to quality.
The food was very clean and well prepared. I also like the variety of fish that's offered and the portions. The ambiance is nice, although I prefer more contemporary settings. My wife described the room as 1920's elegance. There is lots of dark wood and etched glass.
Again, this is a first visit, so they may not send us to the moon next time, but for now, McCormick and Schmick's gets the stamp of excellence.

We may have a bad nite....
Both the service and the food SUX.
There were 9 of us -- all girls.
We all ordered soups, appetizers, entrees and desserts. We were the easiest group to please since we literally pretty much ordered the same thing -- clam chowder/lobster bisque, fried calamari, surf and turf and creme brulee.
The soup arrived lukewarm, the calamari was just okay, the surf and turf was a huge disappointment. I ordered mine medium and it arrived as well done. Another gf ordered hers medium as well but she got hers as rare. There's no consistency at all. My surf was king crab legs -- they were skinny and dry and didnt look like king crab leg to me at all.
The service was horrible -- we constantly had to ask our waitstaff to have water filled and he still didnt do so. He always told us our food would be up in a few minutes and his few minutes would turn into half an hour or longer. My gf ordered 1 scoop of ice-cream for her daughter and it took a good 20 mins to get it over to our table. When we asked our server about the ice-cream, he response was "I just put in the order" and that was 15 mins passed.
The worst part of the nite was they mixed up my doggie bag with some other table's doggie bags. Our server literally went to serarch for my doggie bag and took it away from another table. If it happened in another restaurant, they would have offered to cook me a new meal already -- not hunting down a doggie bag from table to table.
He finally found it and gave it back to me.
Do I still wanna touch it? ABSOLUTELY NOT .....
I was planning to give the overcooked steak to my fatties aka my husky and sheltie boys as a midnite snack but after the doggie bag mix-up incident, I didnt even wanna give it to my doggies.
I didnt make a scene to file a complaint since it was my gf's b-day dinner...
And there was another thing -- we saw there was another table celebrating b-day and they bought out the dessert with candles and the waitstaffs all came over to that table to sing Happy Birthday and they did absolutely for our table though.
Our waitstaff DID know it's our gf's b-day dinner cuz he acknowledged her as the b-day girl the whole nite.
Minor detail: I dont like restaurants using paper on top of the table cloth. It's annoying. I know we should save our environment. I'd rather they just use the table top w/o table cloth.

I took a client out to eat here for dinner per the client's recommendation. I had the filet minot and scallops. I also had the crab cakes for an appetizer. This place is very spendy but my filet was cooked perfectly and was amazingly tender, medium rare. This place gets in fresh seafood everyday and the menus are printed daily listed at the top what exactly came in that morning so you can ensure what is going to be fresh.
WOW I guess I missed the boat on this one. I ordered the seafood trio. The portion was so small I could not believe it! The salmon piece was 2" inches long, by 3/4 inch wide (I mean a sliver). The scallops consisted on one and a half pieces that were slightly larger than a quarter...and finally the shrimp oh yes the shrimp...it consisted of three small pieces that were each the size of a nickel. All this for $24.00. Honestly, I looked around the room for a camera as I thought it was a joke. Don't get me wrong I love to eat out and rarely complain
but I was truly disappointed. Overpriced and extremely small portions.
The Schaumburg McCormick & Schmick's location is excellent. I recently visited it with my parents, and we had a great dinner.
Virtually everything was excellent... Service was exceptionally good, and our waiter did a great job. Our dinners were excellent, cooked to perfection.
I recommend this place to everyone.

I was here for the VIP Grand Opening party, so I can't comment on regular restaurant service... yet.
This place is sofa king awesome. Super high quality seafood expertly prepared and served by an amazing waitstaff. This place has its stuff together, there's no question about it. There's a huge menu of fish flown in daily. The interior of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful... dark wood, big cozy booths with velvet curtains that draw across for privacy and intimacy.
The best kept secret in the world (til now) has to be their happy hour... Four items off the menu are $1.95 and another four are $3.95 with a two drink minimum. The drinks are strong and done right... they juice limes, lemons, etc. as the drinks are ordered- no mixers here! And they have Shiner Bock on tap, which as I always mention is new to Chicago but an old friend of my liver... try it you'll love it! I can't wait to go back, honestly. It's spendy but worth every last penny.
UPDATE 11.18.07: Went back for the happy hour on Friday evening and we loved it. It felt like we were stealing... We ordered salmon cakes, mussels in garlic, butter, and white wine sauce, and the Cajun burger (w/ fries) plus two beers and a huge ass glass of wine and the total was under $30.... and the food was outstanding. As with the menu in the main dining room, it changes daily to reflect seasonal accents and what's fresh that day. The tables near the bar fill up pretty fast and seemed to be populated by large groups of coworkers, but for most of the time we were there, seats were available at the bar. Strongly recommended if you're in the area, 4-6:30 M-F.

"Are you kidding me? " was what I thought when I was presented my meal. I ordered scallops and was presented with 3 (Yes 3!!) on a plate with some weird sauce and a rounded mound of rice. We were promised the calamari appetizer was "the best" according to the waiter but I've had much better at many other places. To me this place was way overpriced for not good food, to put it simply. And not a lot of food either! I think this was the 1 restaurant meal ever I where finished my meal and still left hungry. Service was great, but that's it. Will never go back, and glad I had a gift card this time so I didn't waste too much of my own money.
