1810 is a cute restaurant. Simple with dim lighting to add a bit of intimacy. We were seated right away and handed the menus.
Waiter: 'Would you like something to drink?"
Me: "Yes please. Sangria."
Waiter: "Glass or..."
Both of us: "Carafe!"
It's no surprise that my friends and I get along so well for the sole purpose of drinking. But hey, after a hard day's work.. can you blame us?
I noticed that some Yelpers weren't too fond of the skirt steak here at 1810 but I beg to differ. I chose the Entraña al Champignon which I must say was delicioso! This 10 oz. delight was covered in mushroom sauce and cooked so well that there was no need for the usual A1 sauce. Accompanying the steak was a side of their garlic mashed potatoes. No surprise here, it was very tasteful. I also have to say that the portions were a bit more generous that I expected. Bonus points!
For the price of $18 including a side, this meal was definitely worth it and well-spent. Can't beat awesome food and service! -

Been here a couple times, usually sit outside if its a nice day, wait staff is always friendly and give good advice about the food.
Had the beef and spinach and cheese empanadas. The beef was good, spinach and cheese, just okay.
I had the steak nepolitana which is a lightly breaded fried steak topped with a tomato sauce, ham, and cheese. A very heavy dish which the waiter warned me about. The steak was a little chewy and kinda bland, but paired with the cheese, ham and tomato sauce it was pretty tasty dish.
I've also had the Argentine sausage appetizer which was a little underwhelming. Sausage was kinda dry.
I haven't been wowed by anything I've had here, but most things I've tried have been pretty good. -

I came here with my friends one beautiful morning for the Pasadena restaurant week. The restaurant is diagonally across the public parking (90min free parking) on De Lacey.
We were the first to arrive right when the restaurant opened at 11AM.
The waiter promptly brought out the opening white bread with olive oil. It was something good to keep the mouth busy but not memorable.
All of us ordered from the Restaurant Week menu, which I noticed was not that much of a deal compared to the original menus. In fact, the restaurant didn't seem particularly excited that we were ordering from the Restaurant Week menu.
First course: we each got a different version of the Empanada
1) Beef
2) Chicken
3) ham & cheese
They were pretty good and reminded me of the curry pan that Japanese/Chinese people have in our bakery stores.
I got the Grilled petite New York steak medium rare - which I thought was okay. It felt a bit dry and wasn't impressive at all.
The mash potato on the side was amazing though. =) I could't get enough of it.
My friend really enjoyed the salmon. I tried a bite and It was glazed well.
The service was excellent and the waiter came back a few time to replenish the bread supply and our water refill. It was a good impression but nothing grabbed my appetite that'll make me return any time soon. -
Review from Derek W.
I've definitely walked by 1810 more than a dozen times and always wondered what kind of food they served. It was just recently that KTLA featured a list of unique eateries in LA that I realized the type of food they served. Finally decided to head here wth some friends for a dinner on a Sunday night.
Arrived a bit early and was seated immediately. Out came the bread and chimichurri sauce http://www.yelp.com/bi... and it's probably been 5 years since I've last eaten Argentinean food. The sauce was just like I remembered and it sure went quickly as I was starving.
After my friends arrived, we decided on a few appetizers to try amongst the 4 of us. 4 of the empanadas http://www.yelp.com/bi... which were in my opinion pretty darn good. My favorites included the chicken and beef. I guess I'm more traditional and was happy there wasn't an olive in the middle. Croquetas de arroz http://www.yelp.com/bi... risotto balls deep fried. They definitely sounded better than they really tasted. This was the 2nd time I've had these and once again was disappointed. Provoleta parrillera http://www.yelp.com/bi... which basically is just a huge melted chunk of provolone in a cast iron dish. Was pretty good especially on a piece of bread but you definitely need to eat this while it's hot or else its just rubbery cheese when it cools.
The entrees we shared were the ojo de bife http://www.yelp.com/bi... which was nice and tender but lacked seasoning. I ended up using the chimichurri sauce just to season the beef a bit. Was cooked perfectly though and the fries were crispy. We also ordered the entrana al champignon http://www.yelp.com/bi... where the champignon was the highlight of the dish. I think the perfect combination would've been the ojo de bife w/ some of the champignon sauce.
3.5 stars for this restaurant but will have to see if I can order the ojo de bife w/ the champignon sauce if I do decide to dine here again. Prices are reasonable and will have to try their sangria next time. -

So its Mother's day and I wanted to take my wife to a nice place to remind her of her home. I hit a home run :). The food, service and atmosphere all were fantastic. I had the skirt steak with mushrooms with a side of rice and small salad. My buddy Deon says when you are eating heavy meats, you gotta eat some ruffage. The steak was cooked to perfection and the mushroom sauce was a perfect compliment to the savory flavors of the meat. My wife had the beef short ribs with a side of garlic mash and some chimi churri for the meat. Again perfectly cooked and the chimi churri went deliciously with the ribs. The server was polite and. Knowlegable and the wait times were minimal. We will absolutely come here again.

I have been to this place like 7 times in as many months, the chicken empanadas are the best, they also make their own chimichurri which is excellent, this place is run by Argentinians and owned by Argentinians so its pretty good. The "entrana"or skirt steak is the best that I have tried and they make it just like back home lean and juicy, the flan dessert with whipped cream and dulce de leche is very good, atmosphere is a little congested but service is good. This place is also affordable at $20-$25 per person,it is extremely hard to find an eatery that resembles food in Argentina but this place comes the closest in Southern California.

On the rare Friday night occasion that I venture out of my zip code for a little bit of entertainment, it's because I want to try a new place, have a good dinner, some ambience, a cocktail or two and make my gas mileage worthy of it all.
1810 fit the bill for all of that. Gaucho Grill used to be my favorite restaurant in Old Town and I was bummed when it closed. Not having been in Old Town in months, if not years I didn't know that 1810 took its place, though I had heard that it was a new Argentinean restaurant that had opened up. When I walked in, it all came back to me. They've of course fancied up the place, with new furniture, a new bar where the old open grill was, and some old world Argentine decor. I liked it!
Meat and wine. What else can I say? They're two of my favorite things, and more so, together! 1810 can sure do up a good piece of meat. I mean, if you're gonna go gaucho, you gotta eat like one so it was a no brainer to order some good grilled beef. With some pretty good options of skirt steak, New York, rib eye, and short rib to choose from, we decided to go with the "Parrillada de Carnes" to try ALL of them! And it was a good choice!
What you get at your table is a mini grill with 4 cuts of cooked just right tender, flavorful, and juicy steaks--the grilled flat iron, New York, short rib, and the famous skirt steak. It was a hefty amount of meat so if that's all you have, it's perfect! It does come with a side each (for two), so I had some greens which paired very nicely with the meat, since the greens were refreshing and tossed in only lemon and some salt and pepper--perfect match! The skirt steak was grilled perfectly with just the right amount of crispy edges, while the short rib was seasoned to perfection and cooked enough that it fell off the bone, along with a little bit of tendon (my fave). The grilled flat iron and the New York were nice hunky chunks of meat that were so easy to cut and melted in your mouth. The chimichurri they serve you was a perfect flavor addition to each bite of meat.
1810 has a menu option for everyone, if all of your party isn't the the red-meat eating kind. My other option would've been the salmon, but they have a nice list of chicken options that all looked and sounded delicious. And with their prix-fixe menu option--which has a beef, poultry and seafood choice, you can enjoy dessert if you want too!
Of course, a Quilmes or a malbec is a must, but they also have an array of good wines and beers to choose from!
My only little peeve with the place is that the tables along the wall are very close together, so it felt like I was having dinner with the couples next to us. To our right, I got to hear all about they guy's computer problems, cat issues, and co-worker rants. All the while, we--husband, myself, and HIS date sat and listened to it all. The couple to our left was a young couple, and we heard her tell her date that the chimichurri was made of cilantro and oil. Her date argued with her that it wasn't, but ultimately let her win the argument probably because he had some "after dinner" plans with her. Shrugs. -

I was silently skeptical when my travel mate suggested that we try this Argentinian hot spot that's located right in the bustling part of Old Town Pasadena. My ambivalence about dining at 1810 stemmed from my experience that whenever I try cuisine that is out of the norm, I am typically disappointed in the end. To my surprise, however, this passionate foodie was in a state of glee by the delicious delicacies served up by this phenomenal restaurant.
I should preface this review by advising all interested patrons that I highly recommend securing reservations in advance of going. We arrived late on a Friday night, and the place was humming with activity. Not having a reservation, we waited about 25 minutes for a table amongst a myriad of other wait-listed customers that were eager to place some Argentinian meat into their mouths. It was sheer torture waiting because I was subjected to watching the wait staff endlessly saunter past with platters of succulent steaks and chicken. I'm sure my entourage was quite embarrassed by the pools of drool coalescing on each side of my mouth.
We decided to start with a carafe of their sangria ($18). This was probably the only disapointing aspect of the meal. The sangria was average and tasted a bit watered down to me. In hindsight, I should have stuck with my gut instinct to have wine as one of my other dining companions did. Nevertheless, I was driving; therefore, it didn't ruin my evening to walk out without a buzz.
For an appetizer, I chose the Mollejas al verdeo (sweetbreads). Yes, I was in the mood to chew on some thymus gland. Sauteed perfectly in a green onion sauce, these were easily the BEST sweetbreads I've ever consumed. Even one of my tablemates that is usually scared of these types of dishes was surprised at how well the it was executed in terms of texture and taste.
Moving on to my entree, I opted for the Suprema Napolitana. This is a lightly fried, breaded chicken dish topped with ham, tomato sauce, melted mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Stupendous. Ridiculously good. Served with a generous portion of mashed potatoes, I was in heaven. One individual in my party had the Milanesa Napoloitana which was the same dish, only the meat component was round steak. He enjoyed his as well, but advised me that he thought mine was better in terms of overall taste.
Again, this was a fantastic experience. It was, perhaps, one of the best places we ate during our travels in the Los Angeles area. I wouldn't hesitate to return, and highly recommend that you consider it if you are in the area. Just be sure to go with an empty tummy.Listed in: LA Weekends

God I love restaurant week! When looking at the list of Pasadena restaurants, 1810 kind of just jumped out at me....maybe because they were the first name on the list. I'm not sure. In any event, I'm very glad I went. The food was very tasty and the price very reasonable. What more can you ask for?
THE ORDER
Chimichurri Sauce and Bread - 4 out of 5 - Free...and awesome! If you've never been to an Argentinean restaurant, then you are missing out on chimichurri. It is an oil based dipping sauce made from olive oil, parsley, oregano and lots of galic. It's a great way to start the evening.
Chorizo Argentino - 4 out of 5 - Grilled chorizo sausage served with diced tomatoes and peppers. Very tasty!. The sausage was cooked well and very flavorful. The tomatoes and peppers added a nice brightens and punch of citrus. http://s3-media3.ak.ye...
Grilled Skirt Steak with Mashed Potatoes - 4 out of 5 - Quite possibly the most tender skirt steak I've ever had. It was moist and pretty flavorful. It was missing a bit on the seasoning side to really take it over the top, but still a very well prepared and grilled piece of meat. The mashed potatoes were quite good as well. They were very velvety in texture and you could really taste all the butter and cream in them. http://s3-media1.ak.ye...
Flan con dulce de leche - 3 out of 5 - Argentinean flan with dulce de leche. It was just solid. The flan was pretty good but I thought the dulce de leche was a little thick and a tad to sweet for my tooth. http://s3-media3.ak.ye...

Great meal... especially for the restaurant week price of $26/person. The waitstaff was very pleasant and food came out at a very good pace. I will absolutely be back! -

I went to this restaurant as part of a tasting event, so I'm only rating the food and wine. No kidding, I have never tasted a skirt steak that was a good as theirs. Truly delicious! The other items were also very good and very fresh, and the wine paired perfectly with everything.
I would highly recommend trying this place out. -

Excellent food. We ordered the chicken with mushroom sauce, skirt steak, empanada, and risotto croquettes... The flan is the best! Intimate setting with seating available near the window. Definitely a must for people watching!
Would definitely go here again.... -

Came here for lunch on a Sunday.
The ambiance was lovely. The rustic brick wall and the beautiful chandeliers make for a lovely decor. I had the pollo al ajo, hubby had the milanesa-something, which was covered in ham and cheese. Mom had the chicken mushroom dish, and brother had the pork chop special. Everyone raved about their respective dishes. I don't know, but my dish was only okay. The chicken was technically cooked very well...thoroughly done yet moist and tender. It just seemed to be lacking a bit in taste; I didn't taste any salt or pepper.
However, the sangria was wonderful. The bread with chimichurri sauce was OUT OF THIS WORLD like OMG gag me with a spoon good. The spinach and cheese empanada was flaky, warm and plain ol delicious.
Maybe next time I should go with a steak. I'll be back. -

This place is okay if you like grilled meat and wine. for me it's too much meat and a little bit on the dry side, I guess it would of been better if it had a little fat on it. My friend ate it all so i guess it was good for him
Also The place is pretty dim...I could barely see the food, they had candles on the table and that didn't even help. Overall I enjoyed the steak and the salad along with the mash potatoes, but I would of been more happier if I was at cheesecake factory having the same thing. -

Whoever says this is the "best skirt steak ever" has not had great skirt steak.
To be fair, we went on a cold Monday afternoon after it had rained, and no one was in the mood to sit outside, so we all bundled together at an inside table and then . . . for the next 90 minutes felt the WHOOSH, WHOOSH of the cold damp air rushing in each time the front door opened. Sigh...
The wine list is short but does the trick. Too bad they don't have a real bar. Sad.
Empenadas were the best part of the meal.
Each of us had steak in one form or another. The sides were the best part of the meal! Skirt was too fatty. It's hard to do skirt correctly - it must be on the grill long enough to get rid of the fat and let the flavor come through, but not so long that the meat turns well done. Here, the chef did an odd trick - he/she presented a fairly well done skirt that had gobs of fat. It was like a carne asada that needed to be on the grill for a few more minutes.
The menu is fairly extensive and offers other cuts, including flank and yes, even the obligatory burger. The sides do shine - veggies, rice, and potatoes in all forms.
We are not sure if we will return. We like a full bar when we eat out, and we do like meat prepared well (read: not well done!)
We skipped dessert and instead walked down the street to POP where they REALLY know how to do dessert. -

There just aren't enough good things to say about 1810. My friend and I were intrigued by the cozy atmosphere and the amazing smell wafting outside. We walked in and were told the wait was going to be about 20 minutes long (it was prime time dinner time) but it couldn't have been more than 5 minutes. Then we were served promptly and the service (from everyone, not just our waitress) was wonderful. We had never had Argentinian food so we didn't really know what to order but everyone seemed to be getting the steak so I thought I would try that (the steak with the mushroom sauce) and mashed potatoes. My friend got chicken and caramelized onions.
This next part is what really sold me: the waiters had a large party to seat so they needed to move some tables together, but we were sitting in the middle of all of those tables so they asked us (very apologetically) if it would be okay to move us down so that they could seat everyone. It was no big deal so we did but they seemed to feel so bad that they offered us complimentary dessert and coffee. We weren't planning on ordering dessert but who can turn down free food? So my friend got the chocolate souffle and I got caramel crepes and they were both WONDERFUL. The coffee was great too, I don't know what they do but it was all magnificent and I cannot wait to go back. Definitely one of the best restaurant experiences I've ever had. -

I really like this restaurant.
I think it used to be Gaucho Grill, now it is 1810! Anywho, this is another place that I visit fairly frequently with my lovely daughter.
We usually like to come here when we are craving simple, straightforward protein-based meals. They have a nice selection of steak and chicken dishes. They have some good fish dishes as well. My kiddo usually gets a chicken dish with rice, and I tend to mix it up more than she. Sometimes I just get their grilled vegetables which is made of grilled bell pepers, squash veggies, onions and tomatoes, lightly sprinkiled with feta cheese. Other times I get some chicken, and the last time I was there which was yesterday, I ordered a salmon dish. I was not disappointed as it was well seasoned, perfectly cooked and delicious. My daughter, again, usually orders the same thing, a "pechuga something, something" dish along with a chicken empanada as her appetizer. Yesterday I ordered a "croqueta" for my appetizer, and I found it to be quite tasty.
I do not get the "not-so-good" reviews given by some recent people. Perhaps they visited on off-days for the restaurant staff? I have been visiting this restaurant for a while, and have always enjoyed the food. My daughter has never complained either. I will admit that the service could improve a bit, and there was one visit during which one of the waiters appeared to not like that I asked for several water refills (what can I say? I like my h20!)
to summarize, :-)
I have consistently found the food to be quite good. As far as I am concerned, the service could get a little better, but it's not like they are anywhere near awful. -
Review from Laura G.
Great Argentinean food! A few nights back I did the unthinkable - I sent back a Skirt steak while at another restaurant for lack of everything! I NEVER do that.
So here I am at 1810 and I order the skirt steak. It was fantastic - they cut it a certain way so it's more tender. It had FLAVOR, it was TENDER it made up for the crap I had the night before and made me happy! The most tender Skirt steak I've had, and I know it's not a tender cut in general. The Chimichurri Sauce was excellent as well. They have some nice wines by the bottle and glass. You really can't go wrong with any of their Malbecs. Spot on service, good prices and great food. -

This was my first time here and I've been working at Old Town Pas for the past 7 years and never I've been to this restaurant. They have good selection of lunch menu and for $13 you can get a soup or salad, and entree and a drink. We went here for a co-workers birthday and everyone was satisfied. I ordered the green salad, Salmon and Fries. The Salmon was cooked really well just how i like it. The portion is good as well not too much and not too little. Overall I dont mind coming back to this place. Also they have a Monday night supper for $15 until March 31, 2012. The supper includes the Housemade Empanada, Grilled New York Steak w/Champignon Sauce, and Flan W/Dulce de leche.
Make sure to call ahead for large parties. -

I always seem to end up here; just because of they're "blood sausage" ; every time I order it; they always ask "do you know what you are ordering" ; I guess allot of people return the item, since they don't know what it is exactly; wonderful taste an rustic. Good place to check out, simple an easy, Don't expect the greatest service; but friendly staff and wonderful to just pop in an snack on something or have a small drink if you enjoy.

Review from Amy H.
We came back for dinner to experience the Argentinean main course. I had really enjoyed the dessert option we shared a while back.
I ordered a breaded chicken option and my hubby got a hamburger. None of the menu items really screamed Argentinean so I kind of assumed it would be seasoned and constructed uniquely to represent the "Argentinean" title of the restaurant. Both of our dished were very typical and between the menu and what we were served this could be called an Italian restaurant or even an American restaurant and get away with it. Which was a little disappointing. My husband said that his hamburger was a bit dry and bland, no sign of the Argentinian POW of flavor and quality.
The actual food quality was okay, but did not match the ambiance and was a bit over what I would expect to pay for a meal of that quality. I like the space itself and we receiving good service.Listed in: Restaurant Hopping - Pasadena

AVOID this dining option when visiting old towne Pasadena.
Went here last night 3/1/2012, thought it would be decent b/c it's nice inside and out...
UNFORTUNATELY... the food here can be summed up in one word. DISGUSTING!
Even the fries where bad! The wine wasn't any better either. The cooks here are terrible. The chorizo was horrorendous, it had that classic, left in the freezer, freezer burn taste. The croquetta had no taste what so ever, the sauce surrounding it was flavorless. This place was doing ok last night, the aesthetics and location are great, the service was weird, but the food was a disaster. If you're not picky or basically truly clueless about food then this place might be for you. Life is way too short to step foot inside a place like this. YUCK! -

I would actually give his place a 4.5 not only for reasonable prices but for great service and awesome tasting food. I decided to try this place for my sister's birthday because of the reviews on Yelp and I am so thankful! I have found another one of my favorite restaurants. I had called the night before and made reservations for Saturday (which I highly recommend since this place gets busy) and they were able to accommodate my party of 10 which was already a plus.
Upon arriving, I checked in and we were seated within 5 minutes because they were finishing up setting our table. As expected the place was packed with people and people were waiting outside. This made me anxious to try the food because if this many people were eating here the food MUST be good right? The answer is YES!
Most of our party got a variation of the skirt steak since that is the specialty. I ordered the skirt steak with the mushroom sauce (I love mushrooms) and mashed potatoes. The steak was a good sized piece of meat and the mashed potatoes were a big scoop, this deal was awesome for $18 bucks. The taste of the steak melted in my mouth and it tasted even better with the chimichurri sauce. As appetizers we got the spinach empanadas which were hot and the spinach was plentiful so there was a good pastry to spinach ratio. The steak here is so delicious that my sister-in-law who rarely eats red meat finished half of her skirt steak!
For dessert we ordered the flan and panqueques (caramel filled crepes). The flan was pretty tasty, I liked the caramel sauce that they put on top of it along with the fresh whipped cream it wasn't heavy at all. The panqueques are to die for! The top is torched so you get that crunchy sugary texture and its filled with the same caramel sauce from the flan. This dessert literally dissolves in your mouth. This restaurant is a definite must try. -

I saw this restaurant on Viva L.A. and was instantly interested. The food looked appetizing and I loved the history behind the restaurant as the owner explained on the show. I went there last weekend and I hate to say it but I was very disappointed. The ambiance is very dark and sultry, a perfect place to have a nice intimate date. But make sure your date is on a diet because that's what the portions are: Jenny Craig sized portions for more money than they are worth. The food was delicious especially the hand-made fettuccine. I just wish that there was more of it. I left 1810 feeling hungry and robbed. Another problem I had with 1810 was that I didn't feel that there was really anything Argentinian about the food. I understand the Argentina has sort of a Italian fusion with their food, but I felt that the items on the menu were things that you could find at Olive Garden or Black Angus. I didn't feel like I had tried food from a different culture at all. All in all, 1810 is a nice place for tapas, but if you're hungry and trying to get full 1810 is not the place for you.

Jesus Christ..... I love Argentinean food and this place gives me my fix! Great Beef, Wines, Empanadas & Deserts! The food is reasonably priced. The decor is tranquil and great for a date/ family outing. This restaurant has the authenticity Gaucho Grill had about 10 years ago.

San Gabriel, CA
Quite honestly, the BEST skirt steak I have ever had. Sooo good! I ordered from their special prix fixe menu and for $24, I had the spinach and cheese empanadas, skirt steak, and caramel flan for dessert. I finished every single bite!!!
The empanada was nice and hot, really tasty, and had a flaky crust... just how I like it! The skirt steak was cooked to a perfect medium. It was nice and tender and perfectly seasoned. And the flan was amazing also, though I could have done without all the extra caramel sauce they added on top.
Only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that their service could have been better. I felt like we were trying to flag down the waiter the entire time we were there.
I am definitely coming back again. And bringing some newbies along for the ride. -

West Covina, CA
My cousin and I came in on a Friday night and were promptly seated.
We decided to try out their three course menu, which filled both of us up.
The empanadas were crispy and delicious. I had the beef and my cousin had the spinach and cheese. Small but nice.
For our main course, I had the skirt steak, which was juicy and tender
My cousin had the chicken, which was a large portion that she said was crispy and flavorful. I would definitely come back for the meals.
We both had the flan for the dessert, which was not the greatest. It tasted like something you buy from the market.
Also we ordered the carafe of Sangria, which was a good amount for the two of us. But what kind of Sangria has no fruit? -

Altadena, CA
The dining room is spacious and well-lit without being bright - unlike other local Argentinian places in town. The staff knew the dishes well and were happy to accept custom orders (my wife is one of those who cannot just order what's on the menu, she has to invent her own dish). Several tables had young children and they all appeared to love the food too - a good sign.
Everything we ordered -- Suprema, Entrana, Risotto Croquettes and Sangria -- was well-seasoned and came to the table HOT. (OK, not the sangria.) Even the fries and the rice were some of the best I've tasted. The chimichurri has a fresh parsley flavor with lots of garlic and a hint of cayenne... perhaps they use chili infused olive oil.
Despite the inconvenient Old Town location we'll be back with our 7 year old. -

I don't know why they advertise this as Argentinian because I ordered an Argentinian sauce/marinated steak and I'm pretty sure it only had salt and pepper on it. The meat quality is good but for the price it is not good.
The service was not too good. They wanted to squish my party into a really tiny table and one of the waitresses was not too friendly. Also that same waitress was not too competent. When we asked for more napkins or more water she never got those things for us. We ended asking another worker there.
The bread was the best thing here. Quite tasty.
Also it was really dark in there... I understand ambiance, but please don't strain my eyes so much when I'm trying to read your menu!
I felt that everything was way overpriced for what you get. -

Went here one night for a birtday dinner and this place looked nice but the food was just ok. When I got here I thought i would be able to experience some real Arentinean food but i was sadly dissapointed. The food tasted alright but there wasnt anything there that seem authentic Argentinean. They had food there that was hispanic but nothing there that was really represented their culture. I was pretty dissapointed.

We walked around Pasadena looking for a lunch place with good outdoor seating for the dogs. 1810 seemed like a great choice.
Unfortunately, the menu was not to my liking. Everything seemed so heavy so I ended up getting the Milanesa sandwich and skipped the bread. The only problem is that the Milanesa wasn't even good. The meat tasted hard and lukewarm.
At least the shady outdoor seating was nice. -

I had a date here recently and we were both very impressed with the food. I had a tough time choosing between two entrees and asked the waitress for a push in the right direction. She suggested the gnocchi de papa and I'm certainly glad she did! The sauce was perfection, and the dough was soft and tasty. My date had the milanesa napolitana and he loved it. I previously thought Malbec was the best Argentinean restaurant around but let me tell you, I'm definitely going to bring friends here after my visit. As some other reviewers mentioned, the service is a little lacking. We did have to flag the waitress down, but she was always kind and sweet. I would recommend to anyone.

First time trying Argentinean food. Lots of meat I must say!! Being known for its steak and sausages, we ordered the meat platter, "Parrillada Mixta," which comes with grilled skirt steak, short rib, sausages (blood sausage), sweetbreads (beefs throat), and chicken. The sweetbread was my favorite, which had a liver-like taste to it? It was good but the quality of the meat was average. What I really liked was their 'Portena Salad', which was grilled skirt steak with grilled zucchini, onions, feta cheese, with balsamic vinaigrette. Also, its spinach and cheese Empanadas were nicely baked, filled with hot cheese oozing out. Yummy! If you're not a big fan of sausages, I wouldn't recommend ordering the 'Chorizo Argentino.'
Atmosphere is dark and elegant. Knowledgeable servers. Inexpensive for its HUGE entree portions. It's definitely worth more than 3 stars, but not quite 4. -

Another date night in pasadena and another fail.
First up we get a pitcher of sangria going. Ok so the nights starting off right. Im fluttering my eyelashes, he's complimenting my attire, we gaze into each others eyes over candlelight. Ahhh the romance. No spit ups, no burping, no diaper changing....ahhhh sweet escape.
Ok back to 1810......well bring me back to 2011 because this place was a big EH! Eh as in when the food comes out I look down at my plate and think "that's it?!" At least decorate the plate a little bit, sprinkle something, drizzle a shape, put a little sprig of something!! Give me something here!!!
Oh well. You live & you learn. -

Came here for lunch on Labor Day and started immediately with a pitcher of sangria for $18. This is a pretty great deal because you get a lot out of one pitcher and it's not watered down like some other places (yes, I'm talking to you, King's Row). In addition, the pitcher is a cute bird and the sangria comes out of the mouth. The complimentary bread and chimichurri sauce is pretty darn good and you'll want to drink that sauce after you've had it.
I ordered from the prix fixe menu, which included an appetizer, entree and dessert ($24). I had the croquetas de arroz (yum, almost like fried mac-n-cheese), salmon del Atlantico (just meh) and flan con dulce de leche (zomg, really good). I'll elaborate on the flan because it was very light and not eggy and the whipped cream and dulce de leche paired wonderfully with it. My friend even compared the flan to a sweet tofu because it was so light. I would go back for this dessert.
The service was pretty good, they let us sit anywhere we wanted to because we were the first customers of the day. The corner of the booth is pretty nice and I could see myself napping there, once you see it for yourself, you'll know what I mean. They were pretty good about giving out more bread too. One gripe I had was that my waitress forgot to give me my dessert and even rushed to give us the check before that, which was really odd since the place wasn't busy at all. -

Great appetizers and decent wine list... could have more by the glass, but if you are dining with friends...solid bottles to choose from.

We have been going to 1810 since it was Gaucho Grill, which we liked. Brick walls, wood tables, the grill in the back firing away on all the meats.
Grilled steaks are still the thing here. Skirt steak is done right, seared to preserve juice and flavor, served with simple sides such as garlic mashed potatoes, or rice or green beans or broccoli. The steak is served immediately and as a result, the steak can "bleed" on the plate. I say that is what a juicy cut does. Enjoy it.
Appetizers such as Spinach & Cheese empanadas are delicious.
They also have a grilled chicken breast with a tasty garlic sauce.
I do have a fondness for their chimichurri sauce and bread, and their sangria.
Despite being in Old Town, it usually is not as crowded as other restaurants, but reservations recommended.
Service is usually spot on, but there have been times when the kitchen got a bit backed up.
Parking is at one of the local parking garages, about 6 bucks for the evening.
Sometimes you just want the comfort of a place that does few things, does them and for a pretty reasonable price. Recommended!
