We had such an amazing stay. We were in the Casa Dulce from 4/09-4/13. When we arrived on Friday night, the inn was doing a tasting with Jessup's (which I HIGHLY recommend visiting in Yountville). We got there about 15 min late for the tasting so instead of having us check in, the inn keeper told us to take a seat and we could do it after. What a nice treat after driving from San Francisco.
Our room was wonderful. I know some of the trip advisor posts say they are outdated and specifically the Casa Dulce was, but they are dead wrong. When we arrived the champagne I ordered with strawberries were waiting along with amazing truffles. Each evening you get a door tag asking what you want to eat for breakfast. Each meal was a delight, thought the lemon ricotta pancakes were my favorite.
We were even assisted with dinner reservations one night, and since we had everything else planned, we didn't need any help but I am sure they would have assisted more. Also, ask if they have any passes for vineyards you are planning on going. The woman on the weekend didn't offer any but on Monday we mentioned where we were going and the weekday innkeeper gave us a coupon to taste for free.
If we go back to Napa, we will definitely be staying here. -

We stayed here because of a deal on Jetsetter, and on the basis of the positive reviews on Yelp and TripAdvisor. We stayed in Casa Dolce. Here is what we thought:
The Good:
- We were greeted by a friendly, personable and helpful member of staff who showed us around the communal areas including a beautiful seating area in the bay window, with a dvd cabinet which she invited us to borrow from. She showed us to our room (outside the main building) and came back with champagne. We were impressed by her friendliness and eagerness to ensure we were comfortable. She had kindly helped us with recommending and making dinner reservations prior to our visit; we chose Celadon which was excellent.
- The room was very cozy with a fireplace and antique furniture.
- The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the linens of very high quality.
- Wine and cheese hour is a nice touch.
- Location was handy for downtown Napa.
The Bad:
- Really have to disagree with the reviewer who said the decor was not outdated: unless your preference is for dusky pink/dark orange, with floral frieze around the ceiling, this room is not elegantly stylish as the website says. Casa Dolce would be more "dolce" if brought in line with the rest of the hotel, which was beautifully decorated in cool white, sage and pale yellow.
- The breakfast is great, but why have two very similar dishes (omelette/frittata) two days running? I was hoping to try the lemon ricotta pancakes... maybe if there is a next time we'll be lucky!
The Ugly:
- With its central location, you would expect a little traffic noise - and we did hear the cars and trucks go by during rush hour - no biggie. However, on both mornings we were woken well before breakfast by 1. the inhabitant of the room next door marked "private" moving about - running water, walking around with shoes on... this began at 5.30am so we were not very pleased and 2. the couple next door, um, enjoying themselves vocally! Should have worn earplugs!
Maybe because we were enjoying a promotion we were given the least stylish room 1801 had to offer. If I was to stay here again, I would definitely request a different room. -

I love this place!
It's now the second time we have stayed there and each time we are very very happy.
First time, we stayed in Suite #1, second time in Suite #3. Their website shows great pics of every room so you know what you are getting.
Anyway, this Victorian B&B has been very well renovated and decorated with a lot of taste. It's a clean warm look, no flowery wallpaper in this place.
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
At 5:30pm, they have cocktail hour with wines and hors d'oeuvres. It's a nice way to chat with other guests and make the stay more personable.
They have ports and snacks available for any time you feel like it.
The breakfast in the morning is terrific and has a variety of choices. This time we chose to have the French Toast with Mascarpone and chicken apple sausages. That's the main dish and it comes after a basket of chocolate croissants and coffee cake, and a tropical fruit smoothie.
Oh and they had a small bottle of champagne waiting for us in the bedroom because we are repeat customers, as well as fresh chocolate truffles. That's after the welcome prosecco, of course.
Honestly, I don't want to even try to stay anywhere else in Napa Valley.Listed in: My Wine Country Favorites

my mum and i enjoyed this b&b very much. we were in napa for a mini-vacay and 1801 gave us a great last minute deal for one night. the place was very easy to find and just a few blocks from downtown napa. there's a cute little happy hour at 5 hosted by the innkeepers, you can chit chat with the other guests over wine and delicious little snackies. i found the innkeepers to be extremely helpful and eager to help make our stay in napa a great one. the entire property is so cute and charming. the rooms were clean and comfortable. the beds were super comfy - like sleeping on clouds! breakfast is complimentary and i think it's great that they offer several times to have breakfast to accommodate the early risers and the one that like to sleep in.
there's a bank of america and a safeway within walking distance from the b&b, less than 2 blocks. i forgot contact solution so i was very happy there was a safeway around.
great b&b, i'd come back and stay again. -

This place is so charming and cute. I stayed here last year and loved the very cute decor and the breakfast---super yummy. The concierge service is awesome: she recommended many great wineries and restaurants and was able to book us into every single place we wanted to hit. Stay in Room #5.......there's a skylight that opens up to the stars that is muy romantico. I would definitely come back here again!

My girlfriend and I stayed there this past weekend, and initally chose this property over so many others because of their decor. Neither of us is a fan of the nauseating floral patterns that accompany so many B&B's in Napa, so 1801's contemporary rooms immediately caught our eye. As great as the room was (we stayed in Suite #5, which had a skylight that opened to the stars), the service was even better. (Never underestimate the impact a good concierge can have up there.) Cristin (one of the concierges) was incredibly helpful in crafting an itinerary for a memorable weekend. She helped us line up a hot air balloon ride, as well as bike rentals and numerous complimentary winery visits. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention the food. The Inn provides all sorts of complimentary snacks, along with fresh-baked cookies. They also brought in a local vintner for a private tasting one night, and provided wine and hors d'ouerves another. The kicker, however, were the made-to-order breakfasts, prepared by an amazing chef. What a great way to start the day.
Seriously...if you're considering staying at a B&B in Napa, you'd be foolish not to consider 1801 First. -

Sublime!! Beautiful inn with wonderful and warm staff. We walked all around Napa and then ventured off up the valley armed with great suggestions from the staff. I can't wait to go back.

To start, I SO wanted to love this place! It came highly recommended by some folks, so maybe my expectations were too high. I called months before our stay inquiring about ther B&B and was interested in booking the Carriage House in the back for our honeymoon. We preferred to have a little more privacy, since it was in fact our honeymoon. The gal I spoke to said that I could call in another 2 months and the room would still be available since Thanksgiving week was their slowest week of the year. I called back just 2 weeks later and BOTH houses in the back and had been booked and had to settle for an in house, smaller room. A little disappointed, but decided to still make the best of it. They really pride themselves on going above and beyond to make your stay perfect and I had received several emails confirming our itinerary and I was really impressed that they had planned to take care of everything and I didn't have to do a thing. Strike 1, was when we went to our first lunch reservation that they had made on our way up...no reservation and not only that, the restaurant wasn't even open for lunch on Mondays. We decided to (starving and a little annoyed) check into the B&B at this time and tell them of the little goof up. They immediately made a second suggestion for another lunch place and told us they had called and there was no wait. Get to the new spot, 30 minute wait (WTH!) Second day, they "said" they had arranged a 5 hour private limo tour with Elegant Wine Tours that would pick us up at 10:00. No one ever showed. Checked in with them AGAIN...and yet again, no reservation had been made. So we sat around for another hour for someone. Our second to last stop with this limo driver, the car breaks down and we are stranded at a winery for a while. When we finally return from a long day of wine tasting, they confirm our 7:30 dinner reservation, but our itinerary says 8:00. So I call the restaurant and they have both a 7:30 and 8:00 reservation. I really expected more after all of the fabulous reviews I heard and was pretty disappointed at how much seemed to slip thru the cracks with our visit. They tried to make up for their little faux pas by putting things like small bottles of champage and little chocolates in our room to apologize, but I honestly didn't think if made up for all of the mistakes that were made. To top it off, the street in front of the B&B was under heavy construction and all we heard while we were there was the sound of jackhammrer (not very romantic) We were hoping to return here yearly for our anniversary, but will probably be checking out other places to stay for any future visits to Napa. I wilil give them 2 stars for their breakfast selections (they were amazing) and their bath tubs...they are HUGE!
