Thanks to Yelp, we found the super-awesome 1800 Cafe!
Do not let the location deter you away from this excellent find. I promise you won't be disappointed!
Delicious food, comfortable atmosphere, expansive menu, friendly service and no wait. Seriously, what more can you ask for on a Sunday brunch excursion? I ordered the turkey burger with fries and I was pleasantly surprised. The bun was toasted and the veggies were ripe - it's the little things, I tell ya.
I was incredibly tempted to get the country breakfast but I couldn't succumb to the mass calorie intake. However, my hubby did! I got to taste a couple of bites of this heavenly dish. The gravy was on point, biscuits were fresh, eggs were tasty - all in all, a serious winner, winner chicken dinner!
We will for sure be back to explore all of the options on this menu. -
Review from Janet O.
I ordered a chicken sandwich that came on sourdough with swiss cheese and mushrooms. It was bland.
The menu seemed like the place may be better for breakfast?
I was disappointed with my lunch... -

1800 CAFE is in a crappy location & isn't pretty but don't let the dreaded Monument Blvd keep you away. This is one of the best eateries in the area and has a damn fine menu! I have never had a bad meal here and I have had everything from breakfast, spaghetti & their wonderful Burgers.
Breakfast Recommendation: (Served anytime of the day)
Let me tell you something... I hate Biscuits & Gravy. I grew up with a southern family who loved to eat that gunk all of the time. I never found it to my liking. By chance I had a bite of the COUNTRY SKILLET and was blown away!!!! Very next trip to 1800 I had to get my very own and felt like I finally became a man. It was huge, that gravy was flowing, that sausage was perfect. Mmmmmm... Heart attack city was waiting to take me home!
Lunch / Dinner Recommendation:
I'm not even gonna waste your time with the other stuff although the bbq pulled pork is damn fine. The SUPREME CHEESEBURGER is my coup de grace. Get that beautiful bacon & ham cheeseburger with swiss cheese cooked medium and you will thank me. Like, I am expecting for you to actually thank me and send me a message on here. It's perfect. I have tinkered with the different cheese combinations for the Supreme Cheeseburger and Swiss is the best. American Cheese is too salty with all of that pork on there.
If you are too chicken to eat that beautiful concoction then try the Western Cheeseburger with it's piled high onion straws and sweet bbq sauce.
You must be wondering why on earth this isn't 5 stars the way I am raving. well... the building is run-down & the parking is pretty crappy and at night I can see some people not feeling comfortable walking down what seems to be an ally full of odd characters most who seem to be shady. Such things don't bother me but the meek might be bothered by it. I am also bothered that on the menu it says only 1 free refill. Now this rule has never been enforced on me but maybe it has with others. We all know how insanely cheap soda is, there is no need to say something like that. Now that is being rather picky but if these things don't bother you then feel free to gorge on some of the best freshly made diner food you will eat in the Concord area. Oh yeah and ever since I have eaten at 1800 CAFE I have never had any desire or need to eat at Black Bear Diner & I am sure you won't either. -

This place was okay, it wasn't bad at al but it wasn't exactly breath taking. I want to give it a four but I'm not sure what the hype is about.

So this place was just a random place I picked off of yelp only because I was craving some good breakfast food. We were in the area because of a doctors apt and my family and i decided to stop by.
The vibe here was very laid back. But for some reason my family and I felt out of place.
The decor is very old and diner-ish. Tables and chairs were clean , but not enough to enjoy my meal.
Service was very friendly, we were greeted and seated right away. Our food came exactly like we ordered it. Our daughter was also given crayons and coloring paper to keep her busy.
My husband and I ordered the chicken fried steak. It came with either hash brown s or country potatoes. My chicken fried steak was really good. The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was smothered in sauce . The gravy kind of took away the real flavor of the chicken.
Would I come here again? maybe not. The food was great , but for me eating there didn't feel right. -

Yeah the area can seem a little sketchy, and yes the parking lot can get very full very quickly, but for the price and quality of the food it's worth a little detour.
We had a breakfast burrito and the sausage, green onion omelette and they were both delicious. We both agreed that the potatoes were good, but a little underseasoned. Overall though, the food was way better than your average greasy spoon fare.
The service was also very good, with the staff being attentive but not overbearing. A good bet for a good breakfast if you're in the area. Next time i'll try the french toast.... -

My boyfriend and I were looking for a different breakfast place and came here on a recommendation from our roommate. It took us a minute to find and then another few minutes to find a parking spot. It was packed!
We were immediately greeted when we walked in the door and were able to find a table right away. I ordered a bacon, mushroom, cheese, and cream cheese omelette and it was delicious! My boyfriend had the country skillet which was pretty good as well although the gravy wasn't my favorite.
Overall this place is simple, friendly, and fantastic. We will definitely be back. -

I have known about this place for over 5 years, but never been. So I took a nice walk in Concord and sat down there for a beer. It quickly turned out into full dinner with desert. The food is not pricey and was great, especially the house French onion soup. The waitress was very nice, although this is one of those places where she comes around every 5-10 "Is everything OK?" and "How are you doing?". Even though I don't like that , I wasn't left with the impression I was rushed. I recommend you try it out if you are in the area, even if just for a drink.

+1 star
General: I came here for brunch with a friend on Saturday morning. There was plenty of seating. The waitress was very attentive, checking in to refill our coffee and water. They were also really nice to let us sit for 2 hours when we had already finished our meal after 1 hour.
+2 out of 3 stars
Food: I'm a sucker for French toast and ordered that as it was one of the recommended choices by fellow yelpers. It was a special and came with bacon (or sausage), eggs, and 4 slices of French toast. The bacon was muy delicioso. I was surprised by the small portion for the eggs-- probably 2-3 bites. And the french toast... I was disappointed. It was something I could probably make at home with some powdered sugar. Nothing special.
Location: The area is definitely more ghetto. When I drove in, I noticed a shady looking guy sitting on the curb. Two hours later, he was still there. Hmm... -

Pleasant Hill, CA
I could drive by this place a million times and never notice it...which was nice because on a Sunday there wasn't a line of people waiting outside like Katy's Creek in WC.
This wasn't a blow your socks off type of place, but for a strip mall diner it's pretty freaking cozy!
My husband and I were craving Eggs Benedict and he found this place via Yelp. They had a special that day of crab cake eggs benedict. I'm a sucker for crab so I got that and hubby got the regular benedict. Both were good. Cooked well and good hollandaise sauce. The crab cakes were really sweet, but I enjoyed it over all. The service was good and timely.
Great prices! I have a feeling we will definitely hit this place up again for breakfast! -
Review from Becky S.
I was looking for a local area that had food and also had Wi-Fi, and this was the most promising place that I could find. I drove over after work, ready to eat and work on my lappy.
A nice girl (greeter/waitress) greeted me and I sat down. There was a handful amount of people sitting around, eating and seemed pretty happy. I decided to follow my no-gluten diet and go for the pork chops with apple sauce and went for the strawberry lemonade. It took a while for the food to come out, but for $9, I got a pretty large side salad, rolls (I didn't eat it! Gluten-free!) and two HUGE pork chops and mashed potatoes and broccoli. The pork chops were pretty awesome, especially for $9... instead of apple sauce, there were caramelized apple chunks in a caramel-esque sauce on juicy pork chops. It was pretty good, and I will definitely be back.
If you have a night to work on your computer and want a nice meal with friendly workers, this is the place to be. Check it out! -
Review from Steve N.
I ate here once. Had the food.
If you don't know it's there, you'll miss it. If you blink, you'll miss it. If you choose not to go here.....you'll miss it!
Although I'm not a huge fan of the location, the food was OK. I chose a Club sandwich, which is my go-to at new places. They are usually OK, sometimes blah, other times very good. In this case, right in the middle. Good. The potato salad was actually pretty good. Descent quality with decent taste for a descent price. As the 3 star rating says, A-OK.
My co-worker had dined here a few times already, but this was my first. Lunch time, mid-week. The service was pretty good, but the parking was almost full in a narrow lot. That can be a problem in my truck or work van.
3 star, to me, means it was not a bad experience; I'd go back if I were asked but probably not choose it on my own. Maybe a breakfast visit would yield that 4th star. I'll probably wait for someone to ask me to go though. -

Service is quick and friendly. Blueberry pancakes are good, the omelet was one of the best I have had. Only the coffee could be better. Overall a great breakfast for the money.

One Of concord.s hidden gems. You can easily miss this place driving by on monument blvd, parking can be a bit of a challenge, and its not in the best part of town.
That being said, the food is actually really good. I usually get a sandwich and some potatoes while my car is being washed next door.
Service is pretty good, and the overall cleanness of the place is really good. Check it, you wont be disappointed. Their prices are also very reasonable. -

Lafayette, CA
Nothing astounding from my two visits, but very solid, seemingly very clean, with friendly service from the 20 something female server, and prices which seems very fair. Not a bad place to stop in on your lunch break, as service was very fast and the food came out promptly.
I would like to see chicken for a meat choice with the breakfasts. Not chicken fried steak, chicken. Not all of us want to die of a coronary at f***ing 25.
And guys, news flash, Blue Moon isn't an "imported beer," it's the world's worst pseudo-Belgian Wit which comes all the way from, bum bum bum, Colorado. By Coors, dude. -

This place is amazing! I had the Chicken Taragon and it was so delicious. The portions are really generous for the price. And there is so much variety on the menu, I could hardly decide what to get. The owner is really sweet and our waitress was very friendly and on top of it. This is definitely one of my favorite places!

Walnut Creek, CA
This place is top notch. My wife and I visited this place when we were getting our cars washed at Brothers next door.
For those that don't know, this is where the old Taqueria Los Galleos was. Usually, I don't head down Monument much, unless its a Costco run, or a stop to Monument Wines & Spirits. (Best beer store, imho!)
Now, I know what some of your are thinking... a good cafe place in the heart of little Mexico? Whhhhaaaaatttt? Yes, its true. For the money, the quality of the food and the service is awesome. I had the patty melt, and my wife had a cheeseburger, and it was superb! I think we spent about $20 out the door (including tax, drinks, and tip)
We will be back.Listed in: Good places to eat!

Breakfast..off of Monument? Could this be true? 1800 Cafe makes you feel at home with open seating and welcoming smiles from the staff. They even have free wi-fi and 2 plasma screens.
-Special of the day: Corned Beef Hash- The beef was NOT out of the can! Beef was chopped small, with a little spices, potatoes, little acid, crunchy, soft..my go to breakfast item!!
-Country Fried Steak: meat tender, gravy off the hook, crunchy, batter seemed kinda thick
-Homefries: its basically mashed potatoes that they crisp up on flat top.. different.. I would stick to hash browns
Service was ok. Rebecca wrote our order wrong but it was ok. The food made up for it. The serving size is perfect. The hubby left satisfied but not overly full.
Bill came out to $20ish. Not bad for breakfast. Food is fresh, service is friendly and prices are resonable. I would come back to try the eggs benedict and waffles! -

This is not a fancy place...it is like many places I ate when I was a kid. Think of an independent coffee shop of *Yester-year*. I mean, they have milkshakes and jello!!
The owner is wonderful...so helpful and gracious.
Good fresh ingredients, quick service, good prices.
Hubby had the Salsbury Steak...and it was very nice...onions, gravy, real mashed potatoes, and broccoli....plus he got a salad with it!
I had the shrimp and chips...fries were great, shrimp was not perfect, breading was non-existent (I like it light, but this was too light), but the size and quality were fine.
I want to go back for a burger and a milkshake!! -

My final breakfast treat during Stay at Home Mom Week.
I was lured in by the sign for the $2.99 breakfast special (eggs, bacon, hotcakes), but quickly changed my mind when I saw Eggs Benedict on the menu (7$). I don't like hotcakes.
My eggs were poached perfectly, beautifully. The hollandaise was better than most I've had. The hashbrowns were super crispy without being burnt.
Cafe 1800 is a little unassuming place that you could easily drive by without noticing. Their menu has everything. I'm sure you'll find something you'll like. -

The only place I usually stop on Monument is Costco but I'm glad we gave this cafe a chance this weekend.
Based on the yelp reviews and the low price we figured it couldn't be too bad. What it was was very good!
We had omelets, home fries and toast with coffee. The vegetables in the omelets were fresh and the potatoes were delicious with onions.
I like better quality coffee but for under $20.00 for two I won't complain!
This is a great bargin and the waitress was very nice. -
Review from Caren L.
Had the Eggs Benedict. Muffin was a bit dry and tough, hollandaise sauce was a bit too tangy.
Still, I would give this place 3 stars because it is homey and is exactly what you would expect from a local diner.
Good value for money. -

Midway City, CA
Best thing about this restaurant....ther service! The waitress was very friendly and attentive!
Worst part about this restaurant...food is mediocre at best.
After reading the rave reviews here on yelp we decided to try 1800 out for breakfast while staying in the area. Its definitely not the best looking restaurant, but we were already there so we decided just to try it out.
I ordered the banana pancakes with a side of scrambled eggs. Pancakes had the bitter after taste of a cheap batter, I was so disappointed. The eggs were nothing special.
Our group also ordered french toast and chocolate chip pancakes.
Sadly nothing we tried was great. -
Review from Jim L.
Was craving breakfast and 1800 Cafe came up. It is a little hideaway diner off of Monument.
The food portions were large, the service was good however the food wasn't anything to write home about yet here I am writing about it. Don't get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with my meal....an omelet, but it didn't get a WOW factor from me.
Prices are reasonable and the menu offered many items other than the breakfast that I ordered. Many dishes that went buy looked very appetizing.
Would I go back? Yes. Would I make a special trip to go back? No.
All in all a good value. -

After moving back to the suburbs, I've missed having a local diner - a place where I could get pancakes or a burger almost any time of day. I love the 1800 Cafe, the food, the staff, and having a comfortable place to take a break from my computer.

Super cute place! I heard about it from a friend and went there for dinner last month when I was in Concord. The menu includes so many great dishes - yummy salads, comfort food, pasta, seafood, meat, etc. AND they serve breakfast ALL day! I met the owner and she is delightful! I asked for a refreshing drink since it was hot outside and she whipped up a delicious mint and soda water drink that I finished in one big gulp.
Very comfortable and homey. 5 stars! DEFINITELY recommend! -

Concord, CA
I just had the most delicious dinner tonight at this new restaurant in Concord. My folks have already eaten there a few times and have been raving about it, so we figured we'd give it a try. And let me tell you, we were not disappointed.
It's only been open about a month now, but it looks like they've gotten some really good reviews-- and I would agree with them all!
Located on Monument Boulevard just a block off of Oak Grove Rd.
The prices are very reasonable (most entrées between $8 and $10), the portions are huge, and the food is just delicious.
Nothing fancy, but a very diverse menu with a couple daily specials. And very "kid friendly".
We ordered the pork chops (two huge slabs and very tasty), both a full turkey dinner and an open face turkey sandwich (fresh turkey right off the bird with incredible gravy), and the Florentine fish (breaded and cooked perfectly). Everything we had, from the soup and salad to the pineapple smoothie, was delicious. The beef stew on noodles at the table next to us looks like what I'll try next time I'm there!
The owner, May Wang, (who was a very charming woman) came out periodically through our meal to see how we were doing.
I'd highly recommend you stop by and see for yourself! (They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily.) -

Great food great prices! Everything here is homemade! I have yet to have anything here that wasn't good. It's a small cafe who's staff get to know you if you come often. Try the cowboy hash for breakfast it's my personal fave. Dinner option of choice would be the porkchops very moist and so good. We come here once a week at least to eat and they always have specials listed outside off the menu or new creations the chefs are trying out.

Concord, CA
This place is AWESOME! Generous portions of GREAT food at very reasonable prices, very friendly and attentive servers, all around 5 out of 5 star kind of place. We've eaten there at least 5 times so far and haven't had a bad experience yet - in fact every thing I've ordered has been top level (their soups are GREAT!) They also have free wifi, so if you're looking to have breakfast or lunch and then do some work they are a great choice (though they could use a few more electric outlets). Don't be fooled by the low key location, they are truly a diamond in the rough.

Diner food. It's good. Tons of choices, all day breakfast. Prices are pretty good (~$8). They also have daily specials around $5. The service was okay. They had wifi, but it has a password and I didn't ask for it. Anyway, if I'm in Walnut Creek again, I'll go here for sure.

Excellent value, good service. Breakfast is always good, lunch specials are always great value, sometimes incredibly good like the large seared Ahi salad I had for $8.99. Roast lamb on the other hand was great value but a little overdone. Very family friendly. Great place to take the kids while you get your car cleaned across the parking lot.
