I've lived in the neighborhood for almost three years. Ever since the 1694 deli changed management I've been a good customer. They take a sandwich to the next level! i love their hot pastrami special, The California (for a hot day since its a cold sandwich), or the 1694 steak sandwich! they even have a woman that makes fresh Latino cuisine in the back (stews, roast chicken, pork chops, rice, beans, etc..) A different special everyday!
the food is outstanding and the price is right ;) Also, Dave, the guy behind the register is a sweetheart and extremely charming. They give you their business card and a stamp on the back every time you order a sandwich, basically buy 9 sandwiches get the 10th free!
p.s. Coming soon to the location, rotisserie chicken! yummmm!

I've ordered from here often. For delivery breakfast foods, this is all right. Somehow ordering eggs from delivery isn't something I normally do, but the scrambled eggs aren't that bad. The French toast is okay.
Definitely clutch for anything breakfast delivery. -

I wanted to like this place. I wanted to like this place a LOT because East Harlem is in dire need of a great breakfast delivery place. I ordered from grubhub which was relatively easy. They got the order mostly right. Nothing crazy. I ordered a Belgium waffle, bacon, scrambled egg with cheddar and corned beef hash. The food was all correct, prepared correctly, as requested.
Unfortunately, I was disappointed that I clearly ordered something that needs syrup, clicked to request extra syrup...and received NONE, zip, zero. In addition, sadly it was cold, SUPER cold by the time I received it. I only live 4 blocks away...and the eggs were so cold that the cheese was congealed. It took 55 minutes to receive the order....once again, for a delivery, 4 blocks away.
I'm willing to give this place a try again...I read that the pizza is excellent...but I will likely try the breakfast again. Maybe I'll go pick it up myself. -

I order from this place fairly often. And generally, they come through for me. I hate to say it, but if there were other decent options in the neighborhood, I'd definitely explore them. I'm not saying that this place is bad; it is what it is.
I've tried a variety of menu items: breakfast sandwiches, bagels, burgers, chicken. They're all fine, nothing really stands out, except for the fact that you get A LOT of food. I've had a couple of incidents with the delivery guy forgetting a small thing here and there, but they're happy to run back and pick it up.
I really wanted to replace Dunkin' Donuts with 1694 as my morning coffee place, but I just couldn't. Something about their coffee is just off to me. And I'd love it if they extended their hours a little bit. They close at 5 on Sunday, although they'd be perfect for that laid-back-watch-tv-and-order-cheap-delivery Sunday night.

I can not recommend this place enough. I know just because I lived across the street didn't hurt but I never had anything bad there! Breakfast is my least favorite meal of the day but they make some great breakfast sandwiches. If you live in East Harlem, check them out. The staff super friendly and charming. I'm dreaming of a warm genoa salami and mozzerella sandwich right now.....sigh. It's the stuff of dreams.

When u are around East Harlem you don't have many choices. But, this Deli, stands out ( even thought it is almost bellow a bridge), as you get in you can notice is MUCH more cleaner then anything u can find around. The sandwiches are GREAT, never had anything that I didn't like. And the guy who works in the counter is a piece of work, so polite and happy all the time... just makes u forget how new york can be cold sometimes! If you live around the area.. I recommend you making this Deli your local spot : )

This place is truly amazing! I have had no complaints and nothing but sheer satisfaction with every single item that I have ordered from this place! The delivery time is on point, you never feel like they rushed your order, but it also was not sitting around waiting for other nearby deliveries to be ready before sending it out. The burgers, sandwiches, and breakfast meals are all top notch, and I am a regular customer of this place, so trust me when I tell you, this place rocks! One of the best delis in the entire neighborhood!
