I've bought a danish modern seven-piece dining room set and a danish modern dresser from them, and they are fantastic! Their pieces are quality, and they are always willing to negotiate, so keep that in mind. We definitely will continue to shop here!

If you like vintage, modern, danish and/or midcentury modern furniture and other home accouterments, this is the place to check out. The store is packed, in a good way, with a carefully edited selection of large and small pieces of furniture and home accents, which makes it fun to browse whether you have a specific purchase in mind or not. They post their new finds and inventory updates regularly on Facebook (helpful when you are stalking just one thing, like I was recently re: a sofa) and they will readily respond to requests for measurements, etc before you make the trip in. I find the prices reasonable when you consider the time it would take to source these items yourself by perpetually stalking and sorting through a gabillion Craigslist listings trying to separate the wheat from the chaff. They also are super low-pressure and will tell you tons of history about any item you're considering. Love 'em!
p.s., also, the sign on the counter that warns you to buy it today lest the person who was looking at it yesterday come in and snag it while you're mulling it over - they aren't kidding ;) -

There's a lot to squeeze your way around in this shop--and it's awesome. Their prices are good, and they have some impeccably weird things hanging out with nicely edited mid century pieces. They also post all new finds on facebook, so you can see the goods before you even step foot into the store. I walked in on a Friday and had a nice long talk with Brian, who was so friendly and helpful that I found it hard to leave.
Your search doesn't have to end here, though, because this whole neighborhood called "Ivanhoe" is chockablock full of vintage furniture stores. -

My friend has several great pieces from this store and with a nod from Cortney and Robert Novogratz on Home by Novogratz (HGTV), I knew I had to visit. I wasn't disappointed.
I want to start over and decorate my house from scratch. They have quality midcentury modern furnishings that would blow anyone away. 1618 Something Different even have the accessories to complete the look.
If only I kept my grandmother's mid-century living room set. Sigh!
Oh and the Saturday I visited, it was double the fun with The Yum Yum Cupcake Truck parked out front!Listed in: Central FL. Shopping

Grandma's house meets modern day/ retro shop- absolutely fabulous. My bf and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and browsed for about an hour. In an effort to redecorate my new little house (that is 90% empty) I wanted to stop by and take stock as this is one of the best places in town for furniture.
First of all, there is something here for everyone. I'm pretty sure everyone who has ever been in here (no matter your age) has said "that looks just like what my Grandma used to have!"
Every piece of furniture or accessory in this place tells a story. So nice not to see every item stamped "Made in China". I could totally tell the owner takes great care in selecting which pieces should be in the shop. I fell in love with everything, as did my boyfriend, which I was shocked about as he usually is not interested in furniture shopping. We really liked a lot of upholstered pieces, a bedroom set as well as a great pair of end tables. I am crossing my fingers it will all be there over the next few weeks so we can budget accordingly.
Pricing was very fair, sometimes more then fair. If you went to a furniture store, expect to pay at least double to triple the price per piece.
Please- visit this store & support your local store before heading to the big box furniture stores. This place is amazing, the shop owner is friendly and by no means pushy, and the vibe is fantastic.
PS-The website is great. It seemed pretty up to date with what was in the store; however the store had a ton more items not on the website. Plus, the nice shop owner let us know there was a sale going on and what amount to discount off the ticket price. Score!! -

I love, love, love this store. I am a huge fan of mid-century danish modern furniture and this is the place I go to find it. They have other types of furniture also and I enjoy looking at the styles. I love that I can buy something used and give it a good home so someone doesn't throw it out. The fellas here are so nice and very helpful. They are always running a special of somekind...20% off items in the back or the entire store. If I remember correctly if you pay cash they might knock a couple of bucks off too.

great store, great prices. Orlando is lucky to have it - so go support it! -

1618 Something Different should be called, 1618 Something Amazing!
The entire time I was walking through this place I just kept saying, this place is kind of amazing. I just moved to a house and I wanted to literally refurnish my house walking into this place.
A ton of it reminded me of my grandparents house but it seemed so much more cooler now. There was a dining set that was very Shabby Chic (pic uploaded) and it just made me want to serve tea and crumpets. It was gorgeous. There were so many couches and chairs that just invited you in to sit but then when I got close to the price tag it made me want to sit and cry. I know the furniture is completely worth it, my lifestyle just would not allow me to spend so much - YET!
I am still thinking about a huge dining room table or worktable that I wish I could afford and also a birdcage type ceiling hanging chair that I think I NEED but now I can really live without. I just really loved a ton of pieces here and can't wait to take my mother when she comes to town.
The staff was very nice, no hovering or attempted sales - they simply just let us enjoy our stroll but stayed available if we had any questions. -

The selection of furniture here is great! What makes it even better is the Yum Yum cupcake truck on Saturdays!

I love 1618 so much! (I wasn't aware it was called "Something Different")
Half of my house is furnished from 1618, the owners (who are super nice) are always very helpful and make a point to remember what you are searching for and make the shopping experience personal.
Most of the time they offer a discount and great information on their pieces.
Furniture is quite affordable, new items arriving every week, and they've recently expanded to include even more mid-century modern furniture and accessories.
Stop by here FIRST for original pieces of furniture before heading off to the mass produced furniture mega stores (IKEA...although nothing wrong with IKEA, love that store too) -

I've been praying for a place like this in Orlando, and I finally found it! I've been looking for midcentury modern decor forever now, and this place is filled to the brim with it. Some of the colors and designs in there are somewhat rediculous, but in a fun, funky way that one could easily style a room around.
By the way, there's a small table of acessories near the counter with some old scarves and glasses that's quite an interesting pile to pick through. I think when I need new frames, I'll look through there first for something really cool. -

I'm a fiend for mid-century modern pieces, and this place is my own personal home shopping mecca. If I could, I'd furnish my entire place from here! In fact, I hesitate to post a review because I love it so much and don't want other people to snatch my future dresser...
Prices are reasonable for what you get, and by and the large the pieces--especially the big guns like credenzas, dining room sets, etc--are in good condition. They also do much of their own reupholstering, so no grotty, suspect stains are on their couches and chairs. Delivery is free within a reasonable radius of the store, and you if you're real sweet you even get them to carry it up a few flights of stairs.
Like another reviewer noted, you won't see the store name anywhere, just look for the big 1618 on the window.Listed in: Best of O-Town

Most passersby probably only know this place as 1618 (the address, which is prominently displayed on the windows), but this store is a hidden gem amongst all of the traditional- and European-style furniture consignments along Ivanhoe Row.
Something Different specializes in mid-century modern and retro antique furniture and accessories. Every time I go in, the selection is different so the inventory changes often. I've seen everything here, such as sofas, dining sets, lighting, accent chairs, art and accessories. The owner and/or buyer is very good about purchasing things in sets, so you don't have to worry about seeing a dining chair you really like and SD not having a complete set.
Prices are very reasonable: several years ago, I picked up a late '60s/early '70s studio-sized sleeper sofa for $200 that was in really good shape. Even the mattress was comfortable, with the only noticeable flaw being a small cigarette burn on the top cushion. The low prices make this a great stop for students and singles looking to decorate with genuine period pieces at a low price.
Parking is convenient in the lot at the north end of the building. There's also street parking right in front of the store.Listed in: Shopping ...

I loved visiting this antique store. The aroma allowed me to transcend time. It's located in Ivanhoe Row, one of the most culturally satisfying places in Orlando, filled with little shops and great restaurants.
