I had never been to Ogunquit and was hard pressed to find something for a single Saturday night, on a holiday weekend.  A few of the higher-rated places were booked...sigh... but I could not have been more lucky that they were!

First-off... You cannot beat the location with a stick... or even a baseball bat. You could try... but you would NOT be able to do it.   They are within steps of the water, the bars, the restaurants and the all-important local piano bar.

The innkeepers are two of the nicest, kindest most charming folks I have even had the chance to stay with... and I am a HUGE B&B person.

We stayed in the only available room, which was on the third floor... it was a tad bit small, and shares a bath, but considering the last minuteness of our booking- we were extremely happy with the space.

The other rooms looked much larger and were also well appointed.  I cannot wait to go back, booking far enough ahead to stay in a larger room with private bath.  I tend to take long showers... I will not be rushed.

The ONE thing that is NOT to be missed here is breakfast.  I typically skip out on breakfast at most B&Bs.  Mostly because I love checking out the local restaurants, but Linda seriously puts the "breakfast" in "bed&breakfast".  Absolutely amazing, and nice conversation with the fellow guests as well.  Seriously, do NOT miss breakfast!

All-in-all, I am glad that the other places were booked.  I don't believe in "meant to be" but finding a room at 16 Beach St sincerely makes me doubt my position on that.

If you've never tried a Bed and Breakfast, you need to.  Hotels are fine for what they do, which is to provide a place to sleep and wash up.  Bed and breakfasts are really no different, but what they also provide is decompression and the extra personal touch you don't get at a hotel.  When you open the door to a very good hotel, you say things like; wow, check this place out!  Great view.  Look at the size of the bathroom!  When you open the door to a nice B&B you go...aaaaahhh.  The view MAY be there, but you certainly won't get a bathroom the size of a garage.

G and I usually stay at B&B's and we have our favorites along the west coast.  When we decided to go to New England to see the fall colors, we took our chances on the accommodations.  After all, great reviews are still subjective!

Well, after spending 3 nights at 16 Beach Street, we're convinced that this place deserves a full 5 stars and every one of the reviews are spot on!  The location is just off the main road.  Road noise is minimal.  It's also just off the beach (2 min?), which is a big plus if you want to spend a lot of time there, since parking is either difficult to find, or you have to pay in order to park in a lot.

We stayed in the Hattie Nagle room.  Take a look at the pictures on their website.  They do absolutely NO JUSTICE to how nice this room is in person.  In fact, it's a deceptive picture and I'd like to complain to the management.  Comfortable, warm, and with a bed you'll never find at a hotel!

Speaking of which...Linda and Dick are just awesome; warm, charming, easy going.  You can see this as well in the family pictures downstairs.  Pick up a dictionary and look up the word "nice."  You'll see them.  Linda welcomed us with a tour of the room and amenities.  She also prepares the breakfasts, which are fantastic.

Dick gave us a history of how the place came about and I really enjoyed listening to him describe how they got there, as well as small things like their son designing the website and helping to fix the place up.  Again, it's the warm and personal touch that you find in the better B&Bs.

Each room is named after family members, all with a connection and a rich history in the area.  It's a small, but meaningful detail.

Wireless internet, beach towels, umbrellas, beach chairs...all available to guests.

The food...what's there to say except that it's great.  I like the dining room table, where we have breakfast.  Rather than sitting apart, we have the chance of connecting with fellow guests and having some nice conversation.  This, along with remembering G's preference for skim milk is just another example of the long list of personal touches that make staying here such a memorable experience.

When we revisit the area, we'll be staying here.

Disclaimer:  I am hugely biased, as I am the innkeepers' daughter.  :)

This Christmas marked a huge milestone in my relationship with my boyfriend.  It was the first time I'd ever brought anybody home for Christmas, and the first time he'd ever been away from home for Christmas.

I was nervous.  He was nervous-er.

My parents moved to this "Beautiful Place By the Sea" (which is what Ogunquit means) about a year ago to follow their dream of opening a bed and breakfast.  And after several obstacles and much stress....they did it!  They are now the innkeepers of 16 Beach Street.   I couldn't be more proud of them or happier for them.

This gorgeous and cozy inn is conveniently located an hour drive north of Boston's Logan airport, right near the ocean.  My parents have always made our home special growing up in Michigan, and they treat their guests with the same heartfelt hospitality in Maine.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed the best Christmas ever with some of the most delicious meals ever tasted.  We stayed in the Mary Harrington room, named after my Nana and the king sized bed was the most comfortable bed we've ever slept on.  (All of the rooms at 16 Beach Street are named after women in our family)

The ocean (and 3 mile stretch of sandy beach) is just a 2 minute walk down Beach Street.  As the inn is located right in the center of town, you are never too far from restaurants, shops, even a lively piano bar right on the corner.

If you're ever on the east coast or in the Boston area, drive up and stay for a couple nights.  Mom knows her way around the kitchen and dad knows his way around town and both will put you at ease (like they did my boyfriend) and make you feel verymuch at home.

I haven't stayed at many B&Bs, but I'm finding it hard to picture one that is better than 16 Beach Street. Went there with my partner over Labor Day, and it was wonderful.

Linda and Dick were the perfect hosts. Warm, helpful, and friendly, but not intrusively so, and Linda cooked a couple of amazing breakfasts. Afternoon refreshments (lemonade, home baked shortbread) made it feel like home, without the headache and stress of our actual parents. :)

The room we stayed in (not going to say which one!) was HUGE, with a beautiful 4-post bed. The only (tiny) complaint is that the bathroom is quite small, but I've stayed in plenty of SF hotels that are even smaller. The view from our bedroom and the porch was great - and we spend a good couple of perfect late afternoon, late summer hours reading on the porch and people-watching the scene coming back from the beach.

And speaking of the beach, I can't imagine a better location. Half a block away from the heart of Ogunquit and it's restaurants and bars, and a 3 minute walk to the beach. Everything we needed was right at our finger tips, including beach chairs, towels, and a beach umbrella provided by 16 Beach Street.

Our first trip to Ogunquit after a frenetic week, and it was about as relaxing a time as I could have hoped for, and more. Thanks Linda and Dick for helping make it a great weekend for us - we'll be back!

(ok, i'm just reposting from my TripAdvisor review, but it is what it is!)

words cant describe how awesome my stay at 16 beach street was.
linda and dick were so nice and friendly. They were so easy to talk to and they just made you feel at home. linda kind of reminds me of martha stewart and barefoot contessa together but with extra friendliness and more of a mom type. she made my birthday surprise a success!

the location was PERFECT. right in the center of town (literally) and just a walk down the beach.

i'll def be coming back next year. thank you so much!!!

Just returned from 5 nights at our new adopted home at the beach.
This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable times we have ever spent on vacation!
This fine inn is run by Linda and Dick a very welcoming and congenial couple. All though this business is relatively new  they definitely have found a calling. From the moment you arrive their calming manner makes you feel that you have arrived at a friends home for a visit.
The web pictures are accurate but they do not do justice to the high level of comfort and cleanliness you will find.We arrived expecting the usual breakfast fare but each breakfast was an edible work of art. You will be served Citrus crouisant  french toast, blueberry cream cheese bake and on and on all preceded by fresh baked scones ,coffee cakes  and breads prepared by Linda with great care and skill and served by Dick with a great wit and a big smile.
The best restaurants and shops are well with in walking distance many right outside your door.
The wonderful attitude and personalities of the inn keepers are the foundation on which this fine old home rests and it stands proud.

I stayed at 16 Beach Street for 4 nights in August and loved it!  Perfect location, right where all the action is in Ogunquit and just a short walk to the beach.  The place is beautiful, spotless and even better in person than on the website.  Linda and Dick are friendly and really make you feel at home in their home.  They have great recommendations for local shopping and cuisine.  The breakfasts are amazing, Linda is a fabulous cook.  We had great weather so were able to enjoy breakfast on the amazing porch!  Speaking of the porch...I think it was my favorite spot...I wish I was back on the porch rocking in a rocking chair right now...relaxing does not even begin to describe it!  Cannot wait to go back.
