15th Street Diner, located on 15th Street, is a good example of a classic american diner. Large portions and priced just right, 15 Street Diner serves up your typical diner fare.
We went on a Sunday at 11AM for a late breakfast and found a very large restaurant with a few seats taken. Dimly lit we sat by ourselves and wondered "What do they need all this space for?" Well, about 15 minutes in the large restaurant was more than half full, and as we were leaving, we saw 3 more parties coming in. That didn't impact the service though. Our food was served promptly and the server's follow ups / refills were right on time.
My Omelette was very large, so large I couldn't finish the whole thing! Served with a biscuit and some gravy, the dish wasn't over-cheesy as you'll often find and had a good amount of fillings such as spinach and mushrooms. My companion mentioned that she thought the biscuits + gravy were better than Waysider, which is blasphemy in this town (But I think she's right!).
The gentleman at the table next to us received a turkey dinner plate that looked like it came from Mom's kitchen on Thanksgiving. I was kinda having regret I didn't order it.
Overall, I was happy with my meal and service and would certainly return. -

ITS PLACES LIKE THIS THAT I MISS MOST LIVING NORTH OF THE MASON DIXON LINE. i am sure they exist, but like i need some goddamned fried okra right now -

This was a favorite in Tuscaloosa when I was there. One of my roommates worked there so we were there pretty often. They have excellent breakfast and lunch deals and the food is southern perfection. I hope you have recovered well since the tornados earlier this year. My thoughts are with all of you.

So busy and so worth the wait. Good country food.
Catfish, cornbread, and greens. Yum-o. Good mac-n-cheese too. And yummy salad.
I agree with Brad when he says, "Nothing is too expensive, but then again, nothing is too overwhelming to the tastebuds, either. It's got a definite '50s feel to it, along with a laid-back wait staff. I wouldn't recommend it for a quick lunch"
It is a fun place to go with your friends or if you have family from up north and they want to have some good ole country cookin, I would take them here. -

A good meat & 3 kind of place well established in Tuscaloosa, AL. Lunch here had a pretty good variety of options for both meats and veggies. The fried pork chops were really good, well prepared and not overcooked. Veggies were ok, nothing spectacular but well worth the money.
I am always a fan of locally owned places and this one is certainly on the list. I'll be back. -

Decent place for breakfast, but need to go back for lunch or dinner. Prices are good.

A great place for Southern-style comfort food. Don't come here expecting to eat anything that's not without lots of carbs and proteins. There are burgers and sandwiches (and now, breakfast food all day), but the main attraction is the meat-and-three. Meat, 3 veggies, drink, tax and tip can cost up to $15.

I have probably eaten 50 tubs of the cornbread dressing and giblet gravy from here. It is the best that I have ever had. I always got it to go. I have never eaten a bite from the dining room.

15th Street Diner is a nice, southern cafe-type place located in the heart of Tuscaloosa. They have another location in Northport on McFarland. The food is like home-cooking without the home. Meatloaf, dressing, burgers, chicken and dumplings, fixins, the usual. Nothing is too expensive, but then again, nothing is too overwhelming to the tastebuds, either. It's got a definite '50s feel to it, along with a laid-back wait staff. I wouldn't recommend it for a quick lunch. Not that the service is bad, it's just not quick, but neither is the food. That said, it's a great place to take visiting friends or family who want to eat for very little money and aren't enamored with ethnic food.
