    I'm a fan!

After hearing the raves on Yelp and from my friends who've visited, I decided to drop by one afternoon.  What a  wonderful little gem in downtown Los Atlos!  The selection is not huge, but one wouldn't expect that in a boutique shop like this.  Whatever they have, however, are such unique items that it's hard not wanting to try on everything.

Like what others have said, the prices are not cheap.  That said, I did walk out with a fabulous leather jacket and tank within 20 minutes.  Did I mention that the customer service is extremely friendly and helpful? :)

    I'll definitely be back.

    In one word: ADORABLE!

Located in quaint Downtown Los Altos, this boutique is a girly girl's dream. The spacious boutique has so much cute merchandise from a variety of clothing and jewelry designers (over 100 vendors!). They carry a lot of pieces by local designers that are hard to find and because they only stock 1-2 size runs, you know the piece you have won't be seen worn by many other people. Even the denim lines they carry aren't your typical mainstream brands, and I got a first look at Posh Spice's denim line, dVb. A Missoni-esque sweater dress caught my eye, as well as a turtleneck dress, both which I ended up taking home. The total for both was just a little under $300, which I didn't mind spending on pieces that I probably wouldn't find again.

For men tagging along with their girlfriend/wife, there is even a nice lounge area by the fitting rooms with a plasma TV and magazines to entertain them while they wait. It makes shopping so much more relaxing knowing that your man isn't impatiently pacing outside the store.

After chatting with Amanda, the sweet and soft-spoken owner, I found out that she and her mother ran the whole place by themselves, which is really impressive. I've always dreamed of owning my own boutique, and I really admire those who make their dreams a reality. The personalized attention Amanda and her mother provide is wonderful, and I felt like I was shopping with my girlfriend. She sent me off with a cute little pink notebook along with my purchases and a hug. So, so adorable!

Whenever there is the option of choosing to review a Yelp event versus the location in which the event was held, I tend to opt for the event itself. There are very few exceptions [the last one I can recall being Space Gallery]. I'm adding 151 Boutique to the list!

This boutique is absolutely adorable. I wasn't originally very impressed [more slightly baffled by what I would find inside] with the window display, but what's inside makes up for it. The store space is much larger than what one would expect at first glance. Cute dresses, tops, pants, accessories at every turn, Amanda definitely makes the most of the space. I was surprised how perfect the boutique was for the fashion show event.

Admittedly, this store is outside of my everyday price range, but it is definitely within the periphery for when I want to splurge on an item here and there. While I don't have a particular style or consider myself fashion-conscious, there were quite a few items I was taking mental notes of. I love knowing that if I were to make a purchase, I won't see the same outfit in varying colors in the office on Monday [This has happened re: H&M dress. I hadn't bought the dress, but I had noticed it at the store. Very distinct pattern you would recognize too! Saw it on two different people, two different colors, same building, same day!].

If I'm in the area, I'll definitely check in to see what's new.

Me: Ohh....that dress is cute!  My big booty can fit into it right, Andy?

Andy: Are you going to wear jeans or leggings under it? Like a top?

Me: Hell No!  I don't wear leggings.

Andy: You mean as a dress?

    Me: I can rock it!

Andy: Jay, you won't be able to move much without showing everything.

Me: Dude...I can wear that as a dress. I even have shoes to match!

    ---Later in the fitting room---

Me: Ugh...My butt is too big and my legs are too long. Dammit!

*If I lived near this boutique I'd be in trouble. WAY too many cute things*

I love you, 151 Boutique!  I do.  Can I send you flowers?  Or perhaps some fluffy Sibby's Cupcakes?  Because that's what I do when I'm in love ... ;)

Seriously - this boutique is one of my new favorites!  I don't know how I've gone so long without uncovering this gem in downtown Los Altos.  I'll punish myself later.  But for now, I will just work the living heck outta my checkbook in this adorable, hip, fun & fabulous boutique!

Anyone that knows me knows that my style is ... well .... my own!  Sometimes that can be a deterrent in certain shops or boutiques.  Not at 151!  This boutique is actually quite large - and full of awesome wares.  I found soo many hot little swing dresses, flouncy & flirty tops and a shockingly flattering pair of denim leggings - Prairie Underground designer denim leggings to be exact.  Yelp, I said it Y'all.  Denim leggings.  Hot. Hot. Hot.

I walked out with the cutest and most hip page-boy cap (in fact you'll see me workin' it in one of the Fashion Show pics) - love it!!!  And oh don't you worry, I'll be back ASAP to shop. shop. shop.

I was a wee lass the last time I lived in Los Altos.

There are many comparisons to be made between then and now:  Apricot orchards, bee hives, a few home-style restaurants, and something equivalent to a Dress Barn for the upper-crust have all been replaced by exclusive gated communities and charming stores and restaurants packed full of twenty and thirty something computer career comers.

To be honest, we used to say the term "San Jose fashion" was an oxymoron.  There was no real fashion in San Jose, unless you count a Laura Ashley dust ruffle matching the comforter cover that could double as day wear "fashion."

But holy smokes, Batman!  Everything has changed!  151 Boutique is adorable hipster clothing for the Kitson LA set.  The clothing is a tad cooler than the clientele that used to stroll Main Street, but perfect for the up and coming Los Altos trend setters that are trying to break out of the shabby chic phase.

Prices range from reasonable $50 cotton frocks to expensive $350 fancy pants.  You can't fault them for pricing accordingly, considering the competition.  And although I can't afford most of the store, I must admit, it's all comparable to what's out and about in SF and LA.

This lovely store and the wonderfully accommodating shop-keep is a welcome addition to San Jose fashion.

This place exudes classiness!  After spending an afternoon at the Valley Fair Mall, trying to find a dress for graduation, I figured why not check out the boutiques.  After attending the Yelp Elite event at 151, I decided to check out their dress selection.  I was a little intimidated because of some of the hefty price tags that I saw but went in with a hope that I'd find a dress that fit and looked right with an affordable price.

Right when I came into the store, Amanda's mom, Sandy, came to help me out with finding a dress.  I told her what I had in mind, a casual dress with more of an empire waste, no strapless or spaghetti straps, and no dresses that had no waist.  (I've tried them on and I looked like a sack of potatoes.)  We went to each rack and she just piled on the dresses for me to try on.  She was so incredibly helpful and nice.  The first dress that I tired on fit.  It was an empire wait, beautiful mauve dress with black color mixed into it.  I didn't even bother trying on the other dresses!  And the price was not bad - $120 but with the 10% discount that I had, the price was able to drop down to $116.

The dress was a bit long and Sandy said that they could send it to get the dress hemmed.  There was no cost which was great.  Picked it up a few days later and it just fit perfectly.  I'm so excited to wear it!

It is great feeling to support a local business!

Not my style: it's like Anthropologie w/even crazier prices.

Most of the dresses were black, hello, it's SPRING.

I was vaguely interested by their denim selection b/c they carry Frankie B, but only their flared styles.

To sum up the color scheme of the clothing: muted, drab, stripes & BLAH.

THIS IS NOT A STOREFRONT. They moved to a tiny business park and are conducting business online.

I didn't know this but they still let me take a look around and try on some items. Items are a bit overpriced but they have good sales.

Ack Julie W. beat me to being the first reviewer of this place.

I was wandering down Main Street with a friend when we decided to wander into this place because they had a cute window, and much to my surprise... cute clothes and shoes! Many trendy pieces. I ended up chatting with the owner and she was really nice, and mentioned that she just opened a couple weeks ago, and her grand opening will occur on 4/20 from 5pm-9pm whereby she will be serving champagne and cupcakes!

Also for registering with her mailing list you get a 10% discount. I ended up splurging and buying 2 pairs of Melissa's jelly shoes which were oh so hot in Brazil a couple seasons back. I would encourage those who want to have hot clothes, but not the same hot trendy clothes that everyone else has to go here.

Best yet... she runs the register from an iMac! Now that's progressive.

This place is full of good finds. After my first trip there I found myself really *needing* the cutest 7 piece tool set (yes, as in hammer and wrench). The tools all had b/w floral patterned handles and came in a bag with matching print. After my bf saw the $70 price tag he ran out and bought me a bigger/cheaper/more utilitarian, but not adorable, tool set.

The store is dangerous! It just has really cute stuff (and while fairly pricey, I didn't find it as pricey has most of the other stuff in downtown Los Altos).

Like Jessica C (who I went to the shop with), I bought some really cute Melissas at 151. I plan to keep stopping by to see what is new. If nothing else, I feel the need to support Los Altos clothing stores that are actually catering to women under 50.

I'm not much of a boutique shopper (more of a bargain type), but I can fully appreciate a well-run boutique with fabulous items.

Not only is this place super cute, the layout works well to introduce all the pieces of clothing/jewelry/shoes/etc without feeling stuffy and uncomfortable.  It's a very open space and everyone who works here is super helpful and nice.  Not pretentious at all!

The clothing is very chic and caters to people in their 20s-30s.  Like most boutiques, there are limited sizes, but there's a lot of variety in clothing and many brands.

Now, if I had more money, I would probably shop here often.  I really feel they have clothes that can fit most wardrobes and their pieces are great to mix and match.  Definitely worth a browse if you're in downtown Los Altos.  It's one of the best boutiques in the area.  Just be prepared to leave with a lighter wallet.

Overall, it's a good little business.

The place is cute, quaint and clean. Brands are mostly independent labels that you can't find just anywhere but the majority are in either badly chosen colors, (a dark turquoise top look like it was made by a little kid mixing up all water colors in a glass of water then using the water as dye) or they're decent colors but badly paired on the garment. (a light blue shirt with blood red arms... uhh what the eff?)

The overall styles of the clothes, however, mostly look like they were made for women 40 years and older with a few pieces that were made for preggies and women who want to look hip in their oversize pirate shirts.

Another thing about the place is the use of antiqued pieces of furniture mixed in with a few ikea quality racks and tables lining a few of the walls.

The place could use a little help but it's definitely not horrible if you're looking for things for a pretentious mom or knocked up marina resident.

    I like this store.

I had a photoshoot and this is where we went to pick out our clothes for the photoshoot.

Omg i was like a kid in the candy store. and the owner, Amanda, was SOO NICE. she gave us tips and told us some history and was very welcoming overall.

The selection of clothing she had in her store were nothing you can find anywhere else. She told me she tries to not buy too many of the same things so people arent walking around wearing the same stuff and i thought that was soo sweet of her to do so. GOOD LOOKING OUT!

definitely check it out when you are in Los Altos. Its not a cheap store. very high quality stuff. well worth it if i had the cash. I know how to appreciate $100 tops or $200+ jeans.

I would say that the name "151 Boutique" should be a description of the price of the lowest cost clothing items in this boutique. If I actually had the money to splurge on really cute, unique, and designer clothes, shoes, and bags that I couldn't find anywhere else, I would come here every weekend - and I emphasize weekend because you get 15% off everything in the store (even sale items) on Saturdays. (Correction: no discount every Saturday! I probably misinterpreted what I was told that day...)

While I did not have $151 dollars to spend on clothing, I did buy a cute little bonbon notepad for only $3. But since I came on a discount day, it was 15% off - making it only $2.55. But the $0.45 discount was not the best part of my purchase. It was the fact that they even tossed in some schwag. Although it was just a cute little pen and notepad + business card holder set with their boutique name printed on them (probably used for advertising purposes), together, they definitely cost more than my purchase. So total, I spent $2.55 for 2 notepads and a pen. What a deal! Unfortunately for them, they did not make any money off me, but I sure am happy!

This is the spot!!! So you know when you are looking for that really cute top, and you want to make sure that 15 other girls don't have the same shirt on that you do, you need to go to Boutique 151 and check it out!

This is such a cute and clean store with great clothes. They care the best brands, FRANKIE B, my favorite!!! The prices are just what you would expect for this quality of clothes and brands!! I actually think that Frankie B jeans are more expensive at Nordstroms!!

Anywhoo, the owner and all the employees are so sweet and honest as to what looks good on you and your frame, its like shopping With a BF when yours is busy!!!  Love it!!

Where has this boutique been?? I never really venture past Washington Mutual on Main Street... but my Mom dragged me to this boutique, so I thought I'd give it a chance.

Well, first of all... I am SO obsessed with just the appearance and design set up of this store! It is absolutely perfection! I'm not kidding... if I had a boutique, mine would look EXACTLY like this one.  Pink and brown paint and all of these awesome design relics, their chandeliers are all exquisite!!

The clothes and accessories are also all very well bought and thought through. They also have some home stuff you can purchase, and super cute afterthought things at the front desk that would be good as stocking stuffers or for a random/thoughtful gift for a friend.

This isn't a place to drag a guy... even though the seating near the dressing rooms is this awesome couch and vintage chairs.

Associates are all very warm and accommodating. And aren't super clingy, but are actually in earshot when you're in the dressing room and need something else!

Oh, and BTW... unlike other boutiques... the mirrors are IN the dressing room.. which I personally prefer.

    I'm definitely going back!

I always have such fun in this store!  They have the most unique clothing, and its always very elegant, but still fun.  Their jewelry is incredible, just like everything they carry! The displays are great, old armoires, book cases etc, even an old bathtub!
Amanda (the owner) is such a sweetheart, you can really tell that she cares about the customers.  She's honest instead of being an annoying salesperson.  She seems like she would rather the customer be happy than sell something that doesn't look good.

Definite must have: Cor silver soap.  The most amazing face wash I've ever found.  Ask anyone there about it, its a miracle soap.  (It also smells great!)

Boutique 151 is a super cute women's clothing boutique on Main Street in Los Altos.

    Pros--
*Manager (cute blond lady) is very outgoing, friendly and helpful
*great selection of cute clothes & accessories
    *adorable decor throughout the store
    *Well known brands

    Cons--
*EXPENSIVE!!! The cheapest item of clothing I found was a t-shirt for $95, I may not have been looking hard through everything though
*Clothing style seems to be directed at slender, not-so-curvy shapes in general

All in all--for me it's great to window shop and stroll through but until I get a huge raise I won't be able to purchase anything :(

I would categorize 151 as a boutique version of Anthropologie.  The decor is on a par with it but I will say that Amanda (the owner) has surpassed Anthropologie's clothing quality.  She only stocks her store with hard to find clothes and designers, hence "a la boutique."  What a novel idea, clothing that you won't see every pensinsula diva wearing.  She also has a "male" area equipped with a flat screen tv, comfy seating, magazines, and a front row seat to the dressing rooms.

I love this boutique!!! You don't find boutiques like this around the area. Yes, it's pretty pricey, but I really love everything in this store, you walk in and you want to buy everything!! Amanda is so sweet and she even called the store "her baby." You can tell she sincerely cares, she asks you how you're doing very often and really makes you feel appreciated and cared for. The store is clean and the layout is very well thought-out. It really makes a big difference when the salesperson knows EVERYTHING about the pieces (what they're made out of, where they were made, where they come from, the ideas behind the design, etc.). I will definitely be making many trips back to the store: the pieces are very unique and chic and the atmosphere and service are unmatched. Great job Amanda :)

LOVE this place. The new space in Mountain View is beautiful, and the appointment system is perfectly convenient.

Amanda, the owner, is a sweetheart with an amazing eye. She stocks the most unique pieces, and I love the selection of up and coming designers. Sure, it's a lil' pricey, but you get what you pay for. They also do a great job with alterations, and she's always ready to pin hems or waists to show you how an altered garment would look, which makes a huge difference.

The jewelry by the register is just as great as the clothes. It's all unlike anything you'll see elsewhere.

Bottom line, if you shop here, you're guaranteed to come out with amazing clothes, and you won't see yourself coming and going on the street.

I was searching for a dress to wear to a wedding.  Amanda (the owner) greeted me after I had looking around for a minute or so, and asked me what I was looking for.  She asked me if I had anything in mind, and then we ran around the boutique; she pulled dresses that were mostly in my price range, and then she sent me off to the dressing room.  I tried on 10 different dresses, and she provided feedback on each one.  I really enjoyed myself there.

I found a dress I liked, and Amanda held it for me overnight, which was great.  I came back the next day with the shoes I wanted to wear and tried on the dress again.  It was out of my budget, so I didn't end up getting it, but I will definately come back when I'm looking for something special.

    Great selection, great customer service.

One of my few go-to places to splurge on pieces that I will wear over and over again. Every time I go it's always a hard choice between 5 or 6 things that I need to be smart about fitting in my budget and my wardrobe and I'm never disappointed. The dress selection here makes me wish I had an special event to go to every month!

I'm sad that they moved from their old location in Los Altos, but I understand why they had to since the owner just became a new mom. I recently went to their open house and the new space in Mountain View is so cute! It's just between Central Expressway & Middlefield Road and a little out of the way, but I like the fact that if I'm in the area I can call and drop-in. I look forward to continue shopping here.

I LOVE 151 Boutique!  I'm like a kid in a candy store.  The owner, Amanda is an amazing buyer - very stylish and confident.  She is super customer focused as well.  I bought the most fashion forward jacket and was wearing it once when she noticed a tiny tear in the side sleeve (due to the many times I wear it!)  She made me take it off and send it to be mended and delivered back to me the next day.  Very impressed!  I also love to pick up smaller hostess gifts, mother's day presents, etc.  You must visit this cool and unique boutique.

I shopped here yesterday and purchased a ring + a shorts jumper. The items that are carried at the store are unique and one of a kind, and though it may be pricey for a lot of people's standards, I personally think the prices were reasonable considering the quality. When it's more about quality than quantity there's quality customers and personable service from an adorable shopkeeper. And I always appreciate it when my purchased items are wrapped in a cute box or cute tissue paper and placed in a cute bag, of course. And I will definitely be back in the future! I wasn't even planning on going inside until I was stopped in my tracks on my way back to the car as I was picking up my pottery pieces that were done at the art store a few days ago and was in my sweats because I was about to go to the gym (and when I apologized for being in sweats I was not treated with any sort of disrespect like Julia Roberts in the film "Pretty Woman")

Rushed here as fast as as I could after I saw how many of these were sold on Groupon last week, and so glad I did!  The selection here is really great in terms of breadth - I left with a really cute dress and two pairs of really cute leggings / jeggings which totaled more than 2x what I planned to spend!  Quite honestly, I first thought the Groupon I bought was for Therapy in Mountain View, but this place is WAY cuter - less of the grungy hippie stuff that looks like it's second hand and more really cute and versatile girly clothing.  Amanda is really sweet and gives really great feedback on what works and what doesn't.  She also mentioned that she does, however, keep somewhat low inventory on hand so that when you buy a piece you know that you won't walk into the office and see 5 other people wearing the same thing.  So 5 stars for style and helpfulness, minus one star based on available selection  and convenience (unless the showroom is open, it's mostly personal appts) and price (do be expected to spend $150+ for a dress and $100+ for pants / leggings if you are buying full price).  As mentioned in other reviews, though, there is also free alterations which does make shopping for more expensive pieces more worth it!
