I went in the middle of the week for lunch.  I ordered breakfast.  I immediately regretted this decision.  Everything tasted like a frozen meal that someone heated up.  The sausage gravy is obviously powdered gravy with a few chunks of sausage.  I got tomatoes on the side and they tasted like fish?  To top it all off, the iced tea tastes like a powdered mix.  Now seriously, this is the south...at least make some brewed tea.

They got the two stars for the service, our waiter was great.

I should have gone to Cracker Barrel...

This is the sister restaurant to the 620 Café at 620 just west of IH-35.

Their breakfast is average. Their 'specials' are OK but never change.

nothing about this place is outstanding or special - it's just a breakfast joint.

I like the food better at the 620 Café - but we'll probably be back here because my in-laws like it and it's not bad, it's just 'meh'

This used to be Traxx in the Railyard Center @ Discovery Blvd

They serve breakfast all day long. (eggs, pancakes, waffles, omelets)   Also have items like Chicken Fried Steak, catfish, roast beef, pork chops, hamburgers, etc.

Good and popular restaurant.  Prices are reasonable.

**  Follow up visits are not as great.  They pretty much know how to do breakfast but not much else.  The cheesy pasta seems to be gone and I'm told the chicken salad is 90% mayonnaise

My family and I ate here a few nights ago.
It is a cafe.
Greasy, tasty, inexpensive, greasy.
The chicken fried steak was ok, the salad was really small and kinda cheap(and counted as a side?)...The wife had meatloaf...it was ok as well. $8.99 everyday.  It was worth about $8.99 if that helps describe the place.
Think we will try again for breakfast.
They have a full bar.

Terrible.  This use to be Traxx...Oh how I miss Traxx.  The service was mediocre.  The food, bland, salty and stale.  Will never go back.   My burned rolls the night before were fresher than the roll that came with my greasy chicken fried steak.

Down home country food is considered to be simple, easy fare. However, even items perceived as simple can be done well or done poorly. 1431 Cafe does a very poor job of producing the simple fare it is attempting.

The side salad was shredded iceberg with one tomato wedge. I looked at it and laughed, it basically served as a non-nutritive carrier for the dressing.

The Chicken Fried Steak and fries were just the cheapest of the cheap. Touch, grease soaked, and dry characterized the CFS.

The prices were very low, but not low enough to justify the quality of the fare. Fasd Food restaurants probably have better offerings and you don't have to tip.

I would give them 1 star, but breakfast dishes appear to be a large focus on their menu and I have not tried a breakfast item yet. They might be better.

I liked Traxx well enough, but if they couldn't survive in that location I don't see how 1431 will.

Avg at best.  If IHOP can get it going w/ their service, the the 1431 Cafe is toast.
