This place is infamous for the 2-4am munchies after the bars and clubs let out.  It's not bad, but if you are sober and it's daylight and want good pizza there are other places to go.

If you've just stumbled out of Woody's or Voyuer, go for it.

I went here after a concert at Electric Factory. A friend of mine told me this place had good buffalo chicken pizza. And she was so right! Their pizza rocks! At first I thought it was the alcohol in my system, but the next day I went for lunch and the pizza was still just as good!! I've always thought Philly had terrible pizza, but this place gives me hope!

They have a wide variety of pizza, everyone seemed to be ordering the mac n cheese slices.

Best part: 2 slices and a can of soda for 5 bucks, any two slices too!

    Can it be anymore awesome?

I love when a pizza place is open late, after midnight late because it proves I'm still in civilization.  Great to get a slice after leaving the bar/club/random night activities.

Totally awesome gay pizza ( the place is nicknamed "the Homo Hut" ) that is creative in some of its special pizzas.  I stuck with white with broccoli and chicken but my friends got the mac and cheese pizza and I also saw some type of slice that had nachos on it.  The place gets crowded and has a doorman telling people when they can come in and asking people to leave after they get their slices.  This place is a fun way to end your night.

This place is just plain awful. Here is my experience. I first ordered through http://delivery.com - one pizza. Three hours went buy with three phone calls and nothing ever came. I complained to http://delivery.com in order to get my money back, and the manager did do the right thing and sent me a $10 gift card, so I was more than willing to give them another shot. I did so on two more occasions, each time ordering just one pizza. Both took an hour and half (really) to arrive, and both arrived cold. I think one of their problems is they use bike delivery so there is now way for food to stay cold, and obviously it takes longer...

    I'd skip this place!

In town for business and arrived late to my hotel. This appeared to be the only convenient food available outside of the chips, etc from my hotel's lobby marketplace. Saw the reviews and nervously went forward with my delivery order, thinking, "How can you screw up a pepperoni pizza?" Contrary to other reviews, my delivery ordered within 45 minutes as promised. Pizza was delivery-caliber hot, nothing to write home about, but not by any means terrible...hence the "Meh. I've experienced better" rating. That's my two cents.

Hands down the most creative pizza in the entire city.  Each time I go, i get 2 slices; Mac & cheese pizza and something different.

My most recent visit resulted in me getting a slice of the stuffed grape leaf pizza.  OMG INCREDIBLE!!!

This is the worst pizza and some of the worst customer service I've had in Philadelphia.  In Philly, bad service I've come to expect, but bad pizza?  Come on.  How does this place even survive?

My wife was hankering for some deep-dish pizza.  We had both heard that it's hard/impossible to find in Philly, but that wasn't going to stop her.  From 13th Street she ordered one plain deep-dish pizza, delivered.

When it came (in much less than the 30-45 minute estimate) she was upstairs and so I received the delivery guy.  He said, "er, it's 17, I mean.. 18 bucks."  I was like, "hmmm... how much again?"  "18 bucks."  Okay, so it sounded dodgy, but I gave him a twenty.  I didn't feel like getting into it any further because the dog was barking and lunging at him and our three year old was shrieking.

My wife comes downstairs, opens the box of pizza, and is like, "this isn't deep dish."  I have a look over her shoulder and am like, "no, no it certainly isn't."  She calls them to explain the mistake.  BUT NO.  They most *definitely* made and sent out a deep dish pizza.  She argued for a bit but they were a brick wall of rudeness and denial.

And get this... IT WAS COLD.  It became very clear that they didn't make a pizza for us, it wasn't deep dish, and they just grabbed a cold, crappy pizza off the shelf to deliver.

The crust was terrible.  Very very bad.  Worse than airport pizza. It was tough like cardboard and tasted the same.

The best thing about this pizza was the sauce.  The sauce was okay.

The cheese was only sparsely applied, rubbery, and without flavor.

    Just awful, awful pizza.

My wife asks me how much I paid.  I'm like, well, it was $18 so I gave him a $20.  She was like, "they told me $15 on the phone."  There are multiple layers to this scam.

    So:
They are a bunch of lying, cheating ba$tards.
The pizza isn't just mediocre, it is TERRIBLE.

    Lesson learned:
Don't even think about trying to eat deep dish in Philly.  Stick to tomato pie from Sarcone's or Little Italy.  Eating deep dish is like rooting for the Mets.  Come to think of it, maybe this is a kind of practical joke on Philly immigrants.

I wish I could give this place zero stars. Hands down the worst customer service experience I've ever encountered.

I ordered my food and was called up 15 minutes later to say it was on its way.  Two hours and 45 minutes later still no food.  I made multiple phone calls and was continuously promised the food would be coming (or was already on its way out for delivery).  When I finally had enough and asked for a refund on my credit card I was hung up on by the "manager".  After calling back I was then told the food had already been delivered, which was completely untrue. Again, the "manager", Sean, essentially told me I was lying and that I received my food and would not be getting a refund.

After I then told him that I had the record of all the phone calls I made after my food had supposedly been delivered he then backtracked and said they did not feel comfortable delivering the food anymore because I sounded hostile - at which point I explained I had absolutely no interest in the food, just getting my money back for the food I never received.  I repeatedly asked how I could contact the owner and they refused to provide any information.

I explained that while frustrating, I understood if they had taken too many orders and were unable to deliver my pizza.  What is completely unacceptable is lying and refusing to refund money for a product I never received.  Will never order from this place again, and am filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.  I will also be telling as many people as possible about this experience.

It's 2 am, and you're craving pizza. If you're around the Midtown area, definitely try this place. It's open until 4am!

There was a crowd when we got there, but when I finally got the chance to order, I saw exactly what I wanted. There was meat lovers and some other unmemorable slices, but I saw something amazing. MAC AND CHEESE PIZZA...WITH BACON! Service was fast and friendly, and it took only a few minutes for it to be reheated.  The delicious concoction was laid upon a thick crust, and I took a bite. It was glorious! Since there isn't any seating inside, my friends and I just hung outside with the crowd that gathered. I could sense the jealousy of everyone that walked by and those that were in line. They were eyeing my pizza like it was last piece of food left on this earth.

That pizza was memorable, and I'll be definitely be back! I heard there was a peanut butter and jelly one?! OK!!

    Yes you are open.
No your pizza is not good.
Go here if you want cold pizza with crap-ass crust (really can it get any blander or thinner..awful) or their crap-ass crust cheese. I hesitate to say cheese cause its rubbery doesn't make it cheese. Oh pizza is supposed to have sauce but I could be wrong.

Goto Gianfrancos or Zavino. This is dredge. Friendly service does not equate good quality ingredients.

They say they deliver late at night, and if by "deliver" they mean show up two hours (seriously, 2 whole hours) after you order with cold, bland food and get half of your order wrong, then yeah, I guess they do. By the time we realized what a horrendous mistake this was, any other self respecting pizza place was closed. Fool me once 13th Street Pizza, but never again.

Since never before setting foot in here during the daytime, I decided to stop in and grab a slice since the nearby happy hour I had just come from left me hungry still. I usually get a slice of a supreme pizza (i.e.: meat and tons of veggies), but this time opted for a slice of just veggies. A little sprinkle of garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, parmesan cheese, and crushed red pepper, and I'm all set to chow down.

I'm not a huge fan of crust but I ate it...so I know the pizza is good when I DO eat the crust.

A slice (and a half of my friend's later), I was full and content with my 13th Street Pizza foray during the day. There's a first time for everything so I just might do it again...actually change that might to a must :)

I've had 13th street pizza a number of times - for both late night cravings (they deliver until 4 am - and they are open until 4 am), and just afternoon cravings.  All of them are generally fulfilled by 13th street in an "okay" fashion.  Their pizza is good, not Lazarros or the other South Philly establishments level of great.  The crust is good, the toppings are generally fresh, the sauce is good, and the cheese is a-okay. It tastes decent the next day too, which is exciting.  I'm just such a big fan of Lazarro's and Franco-Luigi's that I think I am having trouble enjoying other pizza establishments.

Go here if you are hungry late nite, or if you want pizza and you are around 13th street.  Otherwise, there are other great places in Philly.

I'll reiterate what most of the other reviewers have said.

13th St. Pizza is awesomely, mind-blowingly delicious at 3:00 in the morning after a long night of drinking/dancing/debauchery. They have macaroni and cheese pizza-- if you've imbibed so much that even this doesn't prevent you getting a hangover, then you may have a serious drinking problem.

It is also pretty good when you're sober.

Stick to the specialty slices-- they are where this place shines. Otherwise, you may be disappointed with the price and the quality.

Okay, so here's the dill pickle about this place.

Ordered it at approximately 11:45 PM, and was told about a 45-hour long wait. We checked out the reviews and saw about long deliveries, and so the rumors were confirmed. Placed an order for pizza, wings, and garlic knots. Delivery came precisely an hour after - the sweaty, but friendly, biker fella hurriedly gave us our food and rushed off. I'll use that to assume that their orders are high volume.

Got upstairs, our wings were missing! Called back, and they said that they'll send them over when the delivery dude gets back. Neato, so we nervously open the box and expect some kind of flattened lizard-looking inorganic matter as suggested by the reviews, and....it was a regular pizza! Not to thin, not too thick. Sauce wasn't overly detectable, but the bread was nice fluffy dough, and the cheese wasn't overly gooey, and it wasn't under-goo, either. It's pretty much the pizza that comes to mind when you think of pizza. Just fine.

A reviewer reported that the garlic knots held some resemblance to unicorn glitter tears or something magical. He's right, they're definitely sinful decadence in the form of grease-seasoned dough balls.

Anyway, on to the wings. We got them around 1AM (they were great!), as well as a free bottle of soda, and an entire bag of candy! Skittles, kit-kat, starburst, M&Ms, etc. Uh, when the Chinese delivery man makes a mistake (or calls you and tells you he's outside when he's a half a mile away), what does he give you? Exactly.

I applaud these fellas for all their hard work and candy-bearing sweethearts despite the awful reviews.

After a night out, the girlfriend and I neglected to eat dinner. The only places open that delivered Pizza were Domino's and 13th St. Pizza. I should have gone with the Domino's.

My order was taken by a bubbly and cheerful woman who made me feel happy and welcome. I eagerly awaited my piping hot Eggplant Puttanesca pizza with bated breath.

Then, disaster struck. The pizza was cold upon arrival. Not like, oh-wow-this-guy-biked-to-my-house cold (I've ordered from Gianna's in the past which is further from my home than 13th St.), but oh-shit-this-pizza-feels-like-it-hasn't-been-in-an -oven-in-hours cold. I immediately called back and was told that the delivery person was on a bicycle, but they would replace my pizza with a fresh, hot one.

Well, I got another pizza alright. Only this time, the pizza was SLIGHTLY warmer than the previous pie. The lady and I decided to just take a loss on it and say "Fuck it."

The taste of the pie was bland bland bland. The crust has a sweet taste too it, which I like, but it's overpowered by the sweetness of the sauce and the sparse amount of cheese on this pie as well as the uneven distribution of toppings made the $22 price tag on this pizza insulting.

Bottom line, this place sucks for delivery if it's cold. Just order from Domino's. Sure, it's a chain, but they have consistency and the pizza always arrives HOT. I'll gladly pay a delivery fee for that, but I won't for a cold pizza. Sorry, 13th Street Pizza, you won't be getting my money for delivered pies. Next time, I'll just get in line with the rest of the drunks so I can actually have hot, fresh pizza.

Pros: Will answer your phone calls (if their lines are open). Will take your order. Will charge your credit card. Will tell you how long you have to wait. Will assure you of pizza delivery. Will even modify your order after your initial call.

Cons: Will not deliver your pizza.

edit: The epilogue to this story is that one nice employee apologized for the error and brought us our two pizzas upon request the next day. They were decent and had a ton of good toppings, so I was a little less upset. So I'll up them to two stars for the effort.

So, at 10:30pm on a Tuesday, very few people deliver.  13th Street does until some ungodly hour.  We ordered, 20 minutes later a piping (!) hot pizza was delivered, and it was totally decent.  Service was friendly, as well.

By the way, if you order online you can get all manner of goods--from condoms to tampons to cigarettes to Tylenol.

It's no Mama Palma's, but for what it is, it's awesome.

I'm itching to tack another star onto this review just for being the only place that will deliver pizza to me until 4 o'clock in the morning, but really everything was just average. We ordered a pizza and two types of wings. Contrary to some other reviews, everything arrived fresh and hot. The pepperoni pizza was good, just not great. The buffalo and barbecue wings both tasted the same. Make of that what you will.

At another time of day, I'm sure I'd order from somewhere else, but in a 3 a.m. pinch Gay Pizza will do.

I'm rather torn on this place. I was recommended this place by the hotel I was staying at. They told me the pizza place would bring it to my room, but the pizza place didn't. Instead the pizza place called my cell phone and had me meet them in the lobby. (Not sure who to downgrade on stars for that, so both the hotel and pizza place get a pass in this case).

The first issue I had was the pizza arrived about a hour 1/2 after I ordered it. I was originally told it should be about 45 minutes. Then when I finally got the order it was essentially the exact opposite of what I ordered. I ordered the Meat Lover's Calzone (think bacon, ham, sausage, etc, etc) but instead got the veggie (?unknown official name?) calzone (think spinach, tomatoes, etc, etc). The first couple bites I thought, "Well, it is still decent I guess, so I'll enjoy it," but soon after that it turned to, "Wow this would be perfect with some (any) meat in it." I couldn't finish it after that thought and went to bed disappointed overall.

-Lots of toppings to choose from, big slices, and hot (they reheat for you in the oven)
-Usually run into a friend or 2 after the club/bar here (it's kinda like a guaranteed unplanned reunion)
-Staff is always friendly and works fast
-Always a fun scene in the gayborhood, the gays at the hut are a riot--got to luv it! :-)

Side Note:  I've never actually had this pizza before 2am, and we all know most food is good after 2am...I'll have to write an update to give a more unbiased opinion

I'm pissed... I just had 2 slices of pizza and I'm still hungry.  I've only eaten pizza here after the clubs and I'm normally pretty satisfied.  But, today was a different story.  The pizza was sooooo thin.  I got the bbq chicken and it barely had any cheese, chicken, or bbq sauce.

Oh, and the guy working put his grimy, unsanitary hands on my pizza after handling cash.  I guess I'll be heading out for dinner again in about an hour or so.

Let's be real, though... I'll be back next weekend for a midnight snack.  Sigh.

**Update** -- The owner did send me a message, saying that he spoke to employees about the quality and handling of the food.  I can always appreciate service improvement!

Pretty much the only time you're going to be satisfied here is around 1:50am on your way out of Woody's, Tavern, TaBu or (insert local gay bar here). The pizza is perfect drunk food but you can tell it's less-than-amazing in the sober light of day.

The counter area is a nightmare (the register/ordering area is 2 feet from the door...if there are 3 people ahead of you, you'll be standing outside) and the staff seems to have trouble keeping track of who ordered what. Numerous times I've had to wait extra time because the person at the register failed to inform anyone that I'd ordered any pizza at all, and a few times I've had the guys behind the counter force extra slices on me because "that's what I ordered"...Oh, okay.

I've also witnessed more drunk tranny crackhead fights in this place than my dignity allows me to admit. It's good for a nice floor show, at least.

For the six or so years I've been drunkenly devouring this pizza, I never knew this place had a real name. It's always been, and always will be, Gay Pizza. And it's delicious. As delicious as pizza that I always eat when I am drunk and starving can be. Most of the time, I modestly order one slice only to eat it in two minutes and get back in line for seconds. Watch it though, there are pizza-stealers up in here. I have almost been one of them before.

Gay Pizza takes the cake over a slice of Lorenzos anyday- or night.

It's a gayborhood institution. Usually a good array of veggi friendly pizza, served w a side of sass. Gets crowded when the clubs let out but the line moves quick. Occasionally they have a bad night (last night the guy wasn't heating up anyone's slice enough and had an attitude when people mentioned it) but overall, most customers are drunk and could not care less.

Listen up Philadelphians, PIZZA SHOULD BE THIN AND CRISPY. I hate hate hate doughy fluffy slizes soggy with sauce, it's sad. Leave that amateur bullshit to Dominos.

I walked into two other pizza places in the gayborhood on my pizza quest before coming in here, thrilled to see the thinness of their slices. And oh, what is this? Buffalo Chicken pizza?!? Yes please!

When I walked in the dude behind the counter was nowhere to be seen, so when he finally emerged from who knows where he gave me the slice for cheaper than what it was supposed to be since i had to wait. (Even though I really didn't.)

Delicious delicious pizza! And nice employees!

Hmm... I'm not sure about these guys.

Now, I'm well aware that this is one of the busiest nights of the year (Paddy's Night) and whether you're Irish or not, it's celebration time!  Still though, I rang at 1am when I got back from the pub for a pizza.  Before I even ordered anything, the guy at the end of the line made me aware of the hour and 15 minute wait. At 2:30am, I thought to myself.... "Well, I'll just gently remind them of the fact that I exist".  I rang again at 3am, again at 3:30 and again at 4:20.  That was almost 3 HOURS LATER!

I was offered some complimentary pies (?!) to my hotel but as they close at 4am officially, I soon received a phone call offering me a discount.  Seen as this was my last night in Philly for a few days, I can't avail of it until next week.... and boy, will I avail of that or what?!

Still though... I had to go to sleep a couple of hours later than I wanted with nothing more than a Nature Valley "Oats N Honey" in my tummy.

    I'M SO HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only reason I will ring this place again is to get my free pizza next week.

    The end.

Gay Pizza, I have never eaten this sober but its always delicious after a liquid dinner at happy hour or being out in the gay hood for a a few too many hours.
Staff is friendly and they even have a new gate to keep the line orderly after the bars close.

With the hangover from the Whiskey Fest looming over me all day at work like a black cloud I felt like I deserved something special for making it through the day so I decided to get an ish load of wings and chill out.

I read the menu for 13th Street and was very encouraged by their selection of flavors along with the fact that they were baked and offered interesting dips to accompany the wings (ie. ranch, blue cheese, marinara).

I picked up the wings and rushed home. I had three orders, garlic, buffalo, and cajun. First things first there were NO dipping sauces with any of the orders, forgivable though because I have all the dips at my house. The garlic were the first I tried. Extremely predictable, bland and worst of all they were stuck to the container so I didn't get to eat all the skin.

The second were the buffalo which on the menu boasted Louisianna style hot sauce mixed with Sriracha.  A very cool idea I thought. They were almost as bland as the garlic : (  and barely had any sauce on them.

Lastly the cajun. These were baked with onions, peppers, and mushrooms. I thought it was a pretty cool idea unfortunately the veggies were not baked long enough and were a huge let down. The cajun seasoning was pretty much a second rate Old Bay seasoning.

Alas, my search for incredible wings in bulk at an affordable price continues. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. It's been a lonely and disappointing journey so far.

Yipes, stripes! This was the blandest pizza I've had in quite some time. In fact, I'm wondering if perhaps it was imaginary pizza because I hardly remember any actual taste or flavor when I shoved it down my piehole on a recent evening when I was very, very hungry.

Luckily, someone else picked up the tab, so that earned it an extra star. I don't think I'll fall for that trick twice, though. Sorry, 13th Street Pizza. It just wasn't meant to be.

If I wasn't so desperate to put something in my stomach at 2am on a Friday night, I probably would have waited, whipped up some Kraft Mac n Cheese and devoured appropriately. Instead, I watched my friend wait in the freakshow line for slices of gay pizza.

I scarfed the BBQ chicken slice and then started on another slice of plain. As we drove away, Mutton Chop stuck her hand out the window and stole a drag queen's slice. Since it's not something nice girls do, I drove around the block and made her return the pizza to the "oh-no-she-didn't-figure-8-hand-waving-finger-snap ping-sista."

    All's well that ends well.

*Yelp, why have you decided to make "snapping" two words? I think we both know there's no such thing as a "snap ping."

13th Street Pizza, also lovingly known as Gay Pizza, also lovingly known as Homo Hut. The pizza shop even sell t-shirts with the Homo Hut logo, which if you buy it and wear it when you come to the shop, you get a free slice of pizza. Cool deal.

This is the boardwalk pizza on the gay/seedy boardwalk that is 13th Street. They have cheese fry pizza (one of my faves), they have Sicilian pizza, for christsake they have peanut-butter and jelly pizza!

People who gave this place poor reviews are either hatin or just don't get it.

One star removed for a creepy counter-guy who videotaped, on his phone, me dancing with my sister. They play good music at Homo Hut.

Between Woody's and Pure there exists a Pizza joint where you'll find a group of tyrannies, random crystal meth dealers, and of course every fag imaginable. Some of this stuff ya just can't even make up. But heck it's good pizza regardless if you're tanked or not. I tested it out under and not so under the influence. For fast-service, always line out the door pizza, it makes Lorenzo's taste like Ellio's. (oooouch!)

The people are great and it feels like an episode of "Oz" walking in here, minus any rape assaults. It's gay but not that gay, come on! I mean some of the pie-makers etc. look like they served time and no offense if they have or not. They are all very friendly regardless and not once have I seen anyone lose their cool even in some situations with angry drunks. Though I never seen any "real" fights take place but I've heard stories.

Usually if you are leaving "Woody's" ya might wanna stop in and grab a bite before stumbling into "Pure" for further enjoyment. Plus, some carbs are good, to absorb some of the alcohol.

    Hick! Belch!

2 bucks gets you a plain tasty slice. Any toppings ranges from 3 to 5.

And the biggest plus of all...

    it's open past 3am! DAMN!

The other night, on a late-night walk back to my hotel from an amazing piano recital at the Kimmel Center, I was bored-hungry and in absolutely no real hurry to go to bed, so why not stop in Homo Hut / Gay Pizza for a few minutes... I've been here quite a few times over the years, why not take a quick stroll down Memory Lane...

The pizza is just okay -- it can be good if you order what's freshest -- personally I prefer their Sicilian Slices which are nice and flaky, covered with just the right amount of Marinara and Cheese and Vegetables -- but their other stuff, such as their regular "pie" is, in my opinion, sub-par, even when it comes right out of oven, but especially so when it's been sitting around awhile and gets re-heated.

The people here are either gay (the guys working the cash-register) or gay-friendly (the guys making the pizza), lots and lots of mess come in and out, and nobody has ever seemed to be too intolerant or mean which I've always found rather surprising -- it's a delicate balance, and can be rather entertaining after a long night of drinking at one of the nearby watering-holes.

I don't think Shaggy realizes that shady ne'er do wells are what give Gay Pizza 2 out of 5 stars.  Srsly.

This is the only pizza joint in the city who makes tomato pie I like.  Something about cheeseless pizza skeeves me out, but when I was vegan, I'd order it to soak up booze.  Most of the time, it tends to be just okay enough to choke down, but I actually liked it from Gay Pizza.

They have pretty standard faux obscure pizza toppings, plus you can pick up post-Woody's, pre-Pure smokes here.  The employees are fabulously South Philly and I've made several friends in line while drunkenly babbling about sparkly things.  Unfortunately, the friendships - like my drunkenness - are fleeting due to my inability to get phone numbers.  (Straight dude who lives in the Gayborhood, if you're here, look me up.  That's an order.)

2 stars for the ambiance, 1.5 for the food, the remaining 1.5 for the fact that it's a Gayborhood landmark.
