Review from Heath R.
Los Angeles, CA
Down a handful of stairs, this is an impressive, cozily cramped but well-organized used book store. They have a wonderful sociology and anthropology section, as well as an ample media shelf.
But the highlight has to be the paperback nonfiction shelves tucked back in the rear corner of the store. Between this area and the sociology section, I picked up two Marshall McLuhan books and a copy of Buckminster Fuller's Operating Manual for Spaceship Earth. Not bad for about $12.
The proprietor apparently smokes, which can mean the shop smells like cigarettes if he leaves the door open while smoking outside. But otherwise, there's little reason not to make this a stop on your book shopping runs.Listed in: Best NYC Book Stores

Review from Javier M.
New York, NY
Three short aisles is all that this place has to offer in the physical realm, but in the selections realm, there's so many fantastic finds that my jaw was confused: dropping, smiling, dropping, smiling...
Organization is not anal, but it tries to follow an alphabetical pattern that was good enough for yours truly. The delight of seeing TRUE rare books (and by that I mean old bindings pre-dating the XIXth century) amidst your garden variety of XXth century selections was absolutely welcome and refreshing. I saw many a book that tempted my hand; prices were proportional and not over the top. Particularly, I found the history selections to be quite supple, and there was this "History of Physics" illustrated book ca. 1960's that I regret not buying it for the meager price of $5 buckies.
I walked out, however, with a supremely rare (for a walk-in) and exotic book of literary essays by Lafcadio Hearn as appetizer, and a psychology essay book by C.G Jung for main course, for a total of $18.00
They also have a small selection of foreign and local magazines, and a selection of old vinyls for the music fetishists. May I also point out that they purchase old/used books and complete collections, in case you need to part with them (instead of discarding them, shame on you!)
Come and browse while the owner plays a variety of Beatles, Zeppelin and other 70's likenesses.Listed in: Food for Thought
