This is all for the Bar and grill appendage in the back:
Arrogant doesn't begin to describe it. Don't go here, pure and simple.
The restaurant consists of two parts: a more upscale (complete with white table cloths) corner and a smaller bar up the street.
Unassuming in decor and with terrible heavy-metal music (its volume beyond unbearable) the establishment immediately sets the bar low enough by a puny selection of beers on tap.
The menus are promising, but the defensively rude service seals the deal: it took our waiter over 30 minutes and several reminders to bring a dish to one of the diners after the other three people at the table had been served and sat there, staring at their food. When we dared to ask for an update, the barked response informed us that "It's coming. Soon." That feat of warmth and politeness was accompanied by look worthy of a serial killer right before he lunges for his attack.
Maybe a bad night? Who knows, but it's unlikely I'll be coming around for a repeat performance.
One of my favorite spots. Great dependable food that's priced right with a very good wine list. Great upgrade. Service was really good, with a very friendly waitstaff. The seperate bar is a plus as they serve the same menu in a more casual atmosphere. Great Sunday afternoon hangout.
Overall it's a good bar. The bartenders are friendly and most of them have good taste in music, they serve a full menu at the bar until 11 PM (or midnight on Friday & Saturday), and the bar is open until 4 AM. While prices have been creeping up, the food is straightforward, and the burger is quite good.

We just tried 12th Street's Brunch for the first time today and it was a great experience. The venue is spacious, airy, bright. Music not too loud. Very pleasant atmosphere.
It was relatively late on a Saturday, 2:15pm or so, so it was nice and quiet and the server was able to pay just the right amount of attention to our table.
Brunch is reasonable (~$14 entrees) and it is accompanied by a lovely bread basket, delicious fresh squeezed OJ, and above average coffee/tea. In the basket, there were a couple pieces of rye as well as a sweet mapley kind of bread. SOOO tasty.
The waiter recommended the special omelette and he was right on the money. Pesto and Sundried tomato with an English muffin and it was positively scrumptious.
I had the special salmon benedict with red pepper hollandaise which was quite tasty too.
We'll definitely be going back to 12th street. The other good thing is that although brunch ends at 3, you can get the same menu items at their bar which is around the corner.

My wife and I have walked by this restaurant a number of times over the last few months (It's our route to the movie theater). We finally stopped in last Sunday night.. VERY glad we finally did. The place always looked inviting, but sadly we were always rushing by, we have since decided we won't rush by again.
The interior is very nice and open, the waitstaff was very helpful if not a little cold (although the rest of the staff were very warm and friendly).
We shared the Arugula Salad (unlike another reviewer, we thought it was fantastic) then on to an order of Fedeo and a perfect Salmon. I love a good Salmon and sadly not everyone prepares them properly (they even asked what temp!). A really nice wine list to boot.
We will be back soon.
First, someone needs to tell me why anyone would want go to Dizzy's for a Sunday brunch. It's an old-fashioned candy store...all noise, not terribly clean looking, and the food is merely OK. And then there's the 12th Street Grill...elegant, spacious, civilized, with great decor and fabulous food.
I, too, have never had even a mediocre meal here. The presentation is swell, the portions are ample, the service is prompt and courteous, the price is right. And the food is GREAT. Whether it's dinner or brunch, if you're looking for a pretty place, where you can enjoy what you eat at your leisure -- and actually hear the conversation of the person you came with -- you can't do better than the 12th Street Grill.
It's just plain good. Good, reasonably priced food, nice atmosphere. Because it is surrounded by residential buildings, it feels like a real local.
went here for brunch a few weekends ago and loved it. wait staff was courteous, mimosa was strong and the food was good. I had an egg white omlette which was fantastic!

I went for brunch today when Dizzy's was bursting at the seams. It's the calm to the bustle of it's 9th street competition. I had an egg white omelette with mushrooms and goat cheese which came with an english muffin. I commented to my dining cohort that it was a nice change from toast. I think we both agreed that the best part was the chocolate bread that came in the basket. It had a thick, almost cake-like texture, my friend almost asked for the recipe! Good stuff.

Looked unassuming from the exterior, peered in and it looked somewhat pleasant. Ordered the arugula salad which was inedible. I literally took one bite and was so extremely overwhelmed by a pungent vinagerette. It was noteworty since I have never stopped eating at the first bite. My husband was so suprised. I was literally fuming that I chose this as my first course. The waiter recommended the gnocchi which was overcooked and soggy. My husband ordered the tuna sandwich which along with every other course was overcooked and salted too generously We both vowed never to eat here again. What was humourous to us was that neither servers asked what was wrong, instead they took away our plates which were full of their over seasoned and over "ripe" food. This tops the worst culinary experience in park slope by far.

It's important to note that this restaurant, like a courageous superhero, has two sides. One is a very elegant and comfortable restaurant, complete with white tablecloths, a wine selection, respectful music, and friendly waiting staff. The other side is an energetic bar with boisterous people, darts, beer on draft, loud music, the mets game on TV, and neighborhood regulars. What these two sides share in common, is delicious and very reasonably priced food.
I have never had a bad meal here and I have eaten here for over 5 years. The mussels are some of the best in the city and the burger is, in my opinion, the best in New York. It is perfectly prepared on a brioche bun, frizzled onions top, and for the really indulgent blue cheese can be added at no extra cost. Hello delicious!
I love this place so much, that on my 24th birthday, after a particularly rough breakup, I spent the evening here alone talking to the regulars and crying into my beer... beers.
As a Brooklyn institution, it doesn't get better than this split personality.

A group of five of us went here for brunch yesterday. I ordered the smoked salmon platter (i.e. lox, capers, tomato slices, cream cheese, onions and a bagel) with a Bloody Mary and coffee. Yum. I thought the food quality and presentation were above average. The Bloody was strong and extra spicy, but great (served with two olives, a lemon slice and a lime slice). I have to admit, however, that one person in our party was really unhappy with his Eggs Benedict (He claimed it had strange tasting hollandaise sauce, but I didn't taste it myself). My boyfriend had an excellent BLT sandwich (hold the chicken add extra bacon--the Grill's version of a BLT includes a grilled chicken breast)--the sandwich was on nine-grain bread with avocado and a special sauce. The atmosphere is nice--think white tablecloths, open and quiet space. Not too crowded around 11:30am on a Sunday in Park Slope, which some may say is a bad sign...I still think that 12th Street Bar & Grill is a nice Sunday brunch stop. Note: wasn't our first choice--Dizzy's was too crowded!
UPDATE: On a cold, rainy Monday night we slipped into the next door bar part of the restaurant and I ordered a burger with cheddar and mushrooms with a side salad and a glass of wine. The burger was FANTASTIC. While I'm still leaving the rating at four stars, this place is worth another visit for the memorable burger, cooked a perfect medium rare.

This restaurant is pretty much a South Slope pioneer on the food scene. Long before 650 square foot apartments started selling for 500K around here this classy -looking table-clothed joint was serving up reasonably priced "Nouveau Americain" cuisine. Sunday Brunch is good, but I prefer going for dinner - the service is usually better and there are always good specials to be had.
They do a really good job of serving up fine American Bistro fare, with class, style, and good service. A good place to take your parents, a date, or even a business associate. 12th Street has perfected its style for over ten years now, and is a real gem of the South Slope area. A classic neighborhood restaurant. When Dizzy's is impossible to get into on a weekend, just walk over to 12th Street and get a nice brunch, with white-clothed tables and good silverwear all to yourself.
