Review Highlights
I had the garden fresh omelet with a buttermilk biscuit and coffee after a strenuous hike at Tiger Mountain.
The Good:
Frequent coffee refills
Large portions (5 egg omelet anyone?)
Decent biscuit
Fresh jam
Pretty good potatoes
The Bad:
"Mini moos" instead of fresh half & half for the coffee
Crowded
$2.50 fee for real maple syrup
Kinda watery omelet (which is really just egg cooked up hard and wrapped around warm veggies and cheese - don't get me started on this)
Overall this is probably one of the better options in Issaquah, although I wouldn't know as I am not usually there. However I would not recommend you make any extra effort to get here for fine but not spectacular brunch.
Have been here twice. First time was for breakfast, and we decided to pardon the bad service and tasteless food and try this place for dinner. That was a mistake, as clearly breakfast is their specialty. Definitely won't be back again. Very rare I only take two bites of meal and stop, but 12th Ave Cafe has that distinction. The bad service was insult to injury.
This place seems to always be busy, so apparently some people like bad food and bad service.
we where going to skip breakfast and wait until lunch until i saw the reviews for this place. So we had to go for breakfast and i ordered the SMALL Montana and it was more then plenty and plus the side of pancakes. i loved the pancakes and the montana was great. They only thing that sucks is that i cant come back next week to eat it again because its over 1000 miles away from home, ughhh
I just moved into the area and went here thinking it would be a quick lunch spot and suprise it was a really cute little cafe that served breakfast all day!
I had the small monatana breakfast which was sooooo good. There was plently left over to bring home for my dinner later that night. I will be back here for sure :)
I use to order food from here back in high school when I worked across the parking lot at Imagination Express, the great local toy store that is no more.
I remember the tuna melt was my favorite. It is also a favorite spot for weekend brunch amongst friends and family. You're sure to run into someone you know, even if you haven't lived in town for 5 years!
To avoid the wait grab a seat at the bar. :)
The french toast is also yummy.
I had a truly delicious bacon-cheese Bower burger here last week. It was way better than I expected and that makes me want to add this cafe to my good burgers list. Thought I'd update the review, too, in case you are jonesing for a slab of meat on a bun.
The comfort food is awesome as well if you are with a group that wants different things.

The kids call this the "airplane cafe" and none of us can figure out where the 12th Ave business… Read more »
Great diner food.
Try the Montana or the vegetana special. The fried potatoes still give me cravings.
Pretty decent brunch place, but do expect brunch food rather than anything more gourmet. Wait can be a bit at times.
Our favorite breakfast place in Issaquah! Well, it's the only breakfast place we've tried in Issaquah... :) I love the Chili Cheddar Omelette. The portions are huge so I get the half-sized omelette and it comes with your choice of toast or 2 buttermilk pancakes. It seems to be a family owned restaurant and the staff is always friendly. Even on a busy weekend morning I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes. It's definitely a great place to start a lazy weekend.
This is place is usually pack by the time I get here so coming any later during the day shouldn't be an option.
The times I've gone here, I always get the Montana which is perfect b/c it comes with 3 different sizes. I always order the small size which OMG! looks like its a medium and I barely can get thru half of it plus eating my side of biscuits. Their portions are huge and everything tastes great! My dad got their pancake special and my mom got the Veggie version of the Montana plus her side of pancakes and my sister got their french toast special which none of us can finish our food.
The only complaint is the size of their cafe is pretty squishy.. gotta need some elbow room to eat and walk to the entrance/exit. When you first get seated they ask you right away with a coffee pot in their hand if you want coffee. They charge you if you say "yes" which isn't a big deal but to others it may be if they didn't know that they would be charged for it. Other than that, this place is great when you want a good big brunch. :)
Joel's spot on. I LOVE THE MONTANA! The food here is excellent.
And yet, the staff is also amazing. My husband and I have been going here for years and they have a very low turn over rate. I've also been amazed at the busboys here. Talk about a study in efficiency and responsibility! I wish every place I went to had such good service.
Lunch with the BF who works at the Issaquah campus of Microsoft. Not really feeling the Panera thing, which is what we usually do. Found this little jewel nearby and decided to give it a go. It could've gone either way by the looks of things. We were one of only three groups in on a weekday afternoon, but that panned out to our benefit. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. I was craving fish and chips and these weren't the best, but they hit the spot. She accidently brought us bleu cheese instead of tartar and was quick to fix the problem. Salad was good, a bit wet, but at least I know my lettuce was freshly washed! Overall it hit the spot. They offer a ton of different entrees so there's something for everyone at your table. We'll be back.
Diner food done right!
This is one of my favorite breakfast spots in Issaquah. The pancakes are light and fluffy and the portions are substantial.
The Montana special is like the beautiful union of homefries and nachos in a delicious mound of breakfast goodness.
They don't take reservations so expect to wait a bit, but the complimentary coffee takes the sting out of it.
The food and experience just didn't come across as well for me as it did for others, I guess. I had heard good things about this restaurant and convinced Heather that we should stop here while we were on a kid-free morning.
There was a short wait and coffee was available to help with the wait. It wasn't great coffee, but it was coffee just the same.
I agree, portions are large - the small Montana had enough leftovers that we were able to bring it home for the kids to eat as lunch! Omelettes are made with 5 eggs - that's huge.
And, like everyone else, the Montana is pretty good. But what isn't when you mix-in cheese and sour cream and bacon. Okay, ice cream isn't, but you get the idea.
I really enjoy Eggs Benedict, so that was the easy decision for me. The Hollandaise was a little runny and my potatoes were pretty plain, some onion, some bell pepper, but that is all. Make that very plain when I compared them to Heather's Montana.
By no means is the food here bad, it just wasn't great. The service is friendly, quick - all good things, but I think that there are some other places in Issaquah that are better (and more if you go into Seattle).
MMM Breakfast. So my sister and I shared an omelet and some pancakes. The pancakes were great - thin just the way I like them and they had some preserves that were amazing. However the omelet was not so good. The bacon they put in it was way over cooked almost burnt not good. I didn't eat the potatoes but my sister said they didn't have that yummy crunch well coked potatoes do. The service was good so that is a plus. I would go back for pancakes.
This is the place I take my parents to when they come into town. They have great food for breakfast and lunch. I have never had dinner there. The food at breakfast is good. I normally get the half order of biscuit and gravy and it runs about 3.00 and it is plenty for breakfast. For lunch i had the best chicken and dumpling soup and sandwich there. They are very affordable for lunch and breakfast. And the staff is very friendly.
They don't know the meaning of "small" at 12th Ave Cafe, but they do know delicious. Sarah http://www.yelp.com/us... and Cale http://www.yelp.com/us... told me about this place originally and they were right. It has been hard for me to make it past the vegetarian version of the Montana, which is outstanding, but I have a few times. Today I had a "small" Montana, which fed me for lunch too. It is by far my favorite dish at 12th ave, but the other dishes I've had are quite good. I like the pancakes there actually. They are the thin, stretchy version of pancakes, not fat fluffy ones. The eggs are quite good here too. I like the omelettes, which are actually omelettes instead of scrambled eggs with stuff in them. My son likes the hot chocolate they make too, although it's pretty standard breakfast-joint hot chocolate.
It's just good home cookin and nice service here.
Every time that I can I go here to have a breakfast. Busy on weekends but worthwhile. The portions are big and the service is awesome!
The decor is nice and I like the bar because they have a display of old Boeing scale models.
The breakfast offer is complete, from very typical American breakfast to highly sophisticated dishes like Huevos Rancheros or southwestern omelet. The service is fast and accurate, the jam (specially strawberry) is a must to try because it is good, the pancakes are also very good.
If you are in sandwich mood I'll recommend the Tuna one, really good and if you like hot chile just ask for the "Green Salsa" which is a homemade Mexican salsa made from jalapeos and serranos, simply delicious!
If you are in Issaquah, try it, you will love it!
If you happen to be in (or near) Issaquah, this is an awesome place for breakfast. Usually breakfast menus are super-egg-heavy, which is bad for me, since I hate eggs. But here they have the "Montana special", a huge plate of fried potatoes, onions, peppers, bacon, tomatoes, ham, cheddar, and sour cream, with a side of pancakes.
It was totally the breakfast I needed. Everyone else's food was great too.
It's a small place, so you might have to wait. It's worth it.
Based on breakfast only my experience was average. Yes, they have generous portions and the food came out fast but I wasn't feeling the flavors. The biscuit was not fluffy - it had a gritty-like texture, the potatoes could of used some more flavor, my omelette was fine. See ,not much to say beside ... it was fine.
My friends whom I meet there were worth seeing but not sure if would trek out and go back. Oh, my friends do LOVE the Montana so if you love tons of potatoes with chunks of ham w/cheese and sour cream - this is your place.
I was utterly surprised at how delicious their home style cooking is. I had the pot roast special on a week night and the flavor was just what I needed after a stressful day at work. The people that work there are genuinely kind. It felt like a home kitchen away from home. Their omlettes are also amazing (and you can 1/2 size it)!
I've had breakfast here a couple times and I thought it was average. The first time we went, we wanted a breakfast option other than Panera (right next door). It seems to get good customer traffic and is very popular around breakfast time. Portions are on the large side, but the flavors were nothing spectacular. Everything was pretty standard, so at least it wasn't disappointing. Parking is plenty and the people that work there are pretty nice.
They do the breakfast up BIG at this place. Located near the Target and Safeway In Izzy. Have been here a few times and have never had a bad bite. The portions are HUGE. I can put away alot of food and I end up needing a to-go box. Usually a good sized line on the weekends. The Big Montana breakfast is a FEAST! Easily can be split between 2 or more. Staff is very friendly, kinda has a large "moms kitchen" feel to the place. The tables are pretty close together, so you can get to know your neighbor!
Every time I have been to the 12th Ave. the food has been great. The waiters seem to be on top of filling your glass and getting your food to you quickly. Heck, they even gave me free coffee. The staff is always friendly and treat you like family.
Burnt toast anyone? I have read some good reviews and decided to try this place out for lunch with my boyfriend last week. I don't believe in paying $10 for a sandwich that is not edible. My sandwich was black on both sides! My waitress was not happy of my complaint. I just ate what I could since I was starving. The portion was generous like some of you mentioned. You can put a lot on a plate, but a plate of garbage is not food.
Love it great food incredible service great people great ambience. An all arond great place that I love and I know you are going to love it.
My wife and I, after reading the reviews here, decided to try this place. I ordered a burger and my wife ordered the open face turkey sandwich. My burger was OK, equal to a decent fast food burger. My wife's meal arrived and we were both shocked. Instead of an open faced sandwich, it was processed turkey slices on a piece of white bread, covered with a yellow gravy. It included bland, mashed potatoes (also covered in the same gravy, and mixed veggies that looked like they came from Safeway's frozen foods department. My wife tried to eat it, but said it tasted like dog food and told me that it was making her sick. The only part of the meal that was edible was the bread pudding that came with it. We both agreed that this should have been called "Thanksgiving Dinner" and not an open faced turkey sandwich. Needless to say, this did not live up to the reviews that we've been reading. The service was great, and we have nothing bad to say about the wait staff, but the food was not worth the price and was a big disappointment.
