The food was really good, the service great, the atmosphere was fantastic.
I had the stuffed pork chop dish, The Bad Boy, which was totally different than any other pork chop I've ever had. The dessert, chocolate mousse, was a perfect way to top it off.
They had someone playing the piano which set the mood plus the staff even got into some singing which made the experience really fun.
A must go to in Prescott. -

Cozy little restaurant featuring live jazz and really good food. We sat right up front near the band, but were still able to chit-chat over our meal...although the waiter had to kind of yell all the specials at us!
The biscuity things they bring to the table are DELICIOUS, with an awesome spread and accoutrements. Then I had a sort of veggie penne pasta, which was excellent, and my friend had the ricotta-stuffed trout, also excellent. House wine was great as well.
They don't have espresso for afterward, though...just regular coffee.
Great ambiance and excellent food, centrally located for all us tourist types. Recommended! -

129-1/2 was a delightful surprise in this small, Northern Arizona mountain town.
Now I'm not unaccustomed to finding great dining spots in rather small and out-of-the-way places. They exist almost everywhere and I make a point to find them using the many tools now available (e.g. Yelp). 129-1/2 is the quintessential example of a great find that might otherwise fall off the radar.
We learned of the restaurant from a friend in Prescott who owns the Pleasant Street Inn Bed and Breakfast (http://www.pleasantban...) and she connected us with an early reservation on what was an extremely busy night in town (Prescott's 56th Annual Christmas Festival and Courthouse Lighting).
129-1/2 would be very easy to miss--being just far enough off of the popular Courthouse Square and having a rather demure footprint (hence the "1/2") on the face of Cortez Street.
We entered the restaurant and peeked around a mysterious black drape to find a well-dressed host who greeted us with, "Welcome. You must be Chuck and Jeff." Now it may be that he was astute enough to note that we were two gentlemen who arrived promptly at 6:30 for a 6:30 reservation, right? It may have been that we were a very obviously gay couple in a not-so-gay town and he was tipped-off by our B&B host! Either way, it was unexpectedly personal and pleasant.
We were seated at a delightful table about mid-restaurant within perfect eyeshot and earshot of a live jazz quartet and vocalist. I'm sorry I don't remember the name of the musical group--they were wonderful--but I also enjoyed sharing a great bottle of Spanish wine with Chuck.
The service was prompt, knowledgeable and offered welcomed recommendations from the menu (and even from off the menu). We shared an exceptional appetizer course of perfectly garlicky, shelled escargot accompanied with sauteed mushrooms and fresh baguette, enough to soak up the savory sauce. For the entree, I opted for the rib eye steak served with what was a surprisingly light and fresh rosemary-garlic cream sauce. I admit it wasn't the best steak that I've ever had but it was, indeed, quite delicious and perfectly cooked.
The live jazz music and vocals added nicely to the evening and never overpowered.
I hope 129-1/2 does well and that it is there for us on our next trip "up the hill" to cool our heels in Prescott. -

My girlfriend and I went in and were informed by a very cute, dark-haired little pony-tailed girl that, oh noo...you MUST have reservations past 5pm. So we went and dropped $100 down the street in a less oh-so establishment. On our way back to the car, we poked our heads in and the place was practically empty. So what was all that about?
The food's okay there. Overpriced. But I wouldn't rave about it. Try and go on a night someone isn't singing standards off key. -

We made reservations at 129 1/2 a couple of weekends ago not really knowing what to expect but pretty excited after reading the reviews. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated right away. I really liked the decor, a nice blend of classy dining and "wear jeans" casual, cool but comfortable.
We started with a couple of appetizers; calamari, at the servers suggestion, and duck confit. The calamari was tender and had a light breading, delicious. The duck confit was AWESOME! Juicy duck, tender French rounds and the fig compote brought it all together like a mini-Thanksgiving feast.
The "Bad Boy" stuffed pork chop was really good, juicy and flavorful. We had a couple of steaks in our party and all were cooked perfectly and tasted great with a very nice sauce. I had the sweet potato crusted salmon which was great and cooked perfectly with a nice crispy contrast provided by the potatoes.
For dessert we had the creme brûlée, which was excellent and the tiramisu both were great.
Although it's a bit more expensive than the cookie-cutter-on-every-corner chain restaurants it is so much better and fresher it is absolutely worth it. We will definitely be back! -

We stopped in here for dinner on a Saturday night. Snuck in without a reservation!! The hostess was wonderful. The service was a bit iffy... mostly just the waiter we had. We split a Caprese Salad and some Bruchetta.... and a few beers. Plenty of food for the two of us, and very good. The salad was different then a typical caprese... this is with greens, the cheese and tomatoes on top with dressing. Very good. The live music was very nice and the atmosphere is comfy. All and all, worth a try.

Their lunch menu is great, many choices, most items are $11 or less. It was dead empty at 1pm today and, despite us being the only customer, the server still managed to screw up our order. t
he special "beef medallions" were not medallions at all, more like patties, but the peppercorn sauce was yummy. the risotto was a bit chalky and heavy on the rosemary. i got the prime rib sandwich, which is a solid choice. very juicy, cheesy, with onions and peppers. i would skip the "tropical" coleslaw , though, and go straight to the sweet potato fries.Comment from Barry B. of 129 1/2 An American Jazz Grille 12/5/2010
Thanks for stopping in. As and FYI - we discontinued lunch… More » -

This restaurant is located about half a block north of the Courthouse Square.
Upon entry, my friend and I were greeted by a very friendly staff. A jazz band was playing amid the dimly lit ambience.
After reviewing the menu, we decided to try the escargot, which we thought was very good. For the meal, I ordered the Herb Encrusted Lamb. The lamb was chargrilled in herbs, and served with a pomegranate reduction; it was delicious.
My friend complained of his watered down alcoholic beverage. However, he was content with his Trout.
Appetizers range from about $7 to $13. Entrees range from about $18 to $24.
On a side note, I asked the band to play "Watermelon Man," which they happily played. -

This is a great dining option in Prescott when you want something a little more upscale. The ambiance is great and you can't beat live jazz Wednesday thru Sunday. The food is generally very good but can be hit or miss. It's never terrible. I had some of the best catfish I've ever had there. Wednesday pasta night is a good deal- pasta and a salad for $9.95. Pasta is good but not spectacular. Tuesday night wine tastings are awesome- 4 generous wine samples and small bites along a theme for $15. A great wine list and delicious desserts.

Loved the atmosphere, music, service - pretty much everything about this place. Then we come to the food. I thought the food was very close to fantastic - I sampled the Brie, Bleu and Pears plate, and the fish special of the night, which was pretty awesome if a bit dry. Actually the sauces and the complements on the dish were the stand-outs - the super crunchy veggie spring roll and tempura scallops were to die for. Check this gem out - you won't regret it!

Very pleasant experience! We enjoyed an unhurried Christmas Eve dinner with a very nice wine, very tasty appetizer and delectable dinners, all with a quiet jazz piano in the background and nice surroundings! It was a most memorable evening.

Without a doubt, my favorite place for dinner in Prescott! Nice, romantic atmosphere, especially when the jazz band is playing. Decent (but not great) wine selections. Very good food every time I have been here. Seems I am usually intrigued by whatever pasta they are offering on special that night. I've had it with scallops that were cooked to perfection, and also with fresh spring vegetables. A friend still raves about a juicy double-cut pork chop that was nearly twice as large as my fist. The only thing that failed was a stir fry, but then again, this isn't an Asian restaurant, so you'd do best to stick with the American dishes. Service is attentive but not intrusive, and they do remember their regulars. I've never seen it overly crowded, but reservations on holiday weekends are a good idea. Will definitely be back next time I am in Prescott.

Wonderful atmosphere the food was good but nothing over the top. I would definitely go back, the atmosphere is great for a weekend getaway dinner, or first date.

Had a nice night out here as my wife and I were staying over in Prescott. The food was excellent, we split the Fried Polenta appetizer, each had a house salad. I had the Pasta w/Spicy Sausage. She had a chicken dish that she enjoyed. The service staff was attentive but a bit absent minded. We never received a bread basket and my wife requested salad dressing on the side and it came with it on and a bit heavy. In fairness the server did offer to re-make the salad. There was a duo playing bass and guitar that was pleasent.
