I think this place gets 3.5 stars actually but Yelp wont let me do that.
Pros:
Reasonably price
Several high volume machines
I rarely stay to wait for it to finish, I can confidently leave the clothes in there and leave.
Cons:
Not the cleanest spot in town
The change machine will not accept the "new" $20 bills. Ridiculous. You have to go down to the place on Pacific and Larkin to use the new bills.
On a lazy sunday morning, still in my pajamas, I look out my window to see the sun is shining and the birds are chirping. A beautiful day. I then look at the pile of clothes that has built up in my hamper for the past 3 weeks. Far more than the buildings single machine can handle, and I want to take care of this all at once.
So, still in my pajamas, I load the excess clothing into a duffel bag, grab my wallet and quarters and make my way out the door, locking it behind me. Halfway down the stairwell I realize I left my keys in my locked apartment.
And my cellphone.
And my roommate is out of state for the weekend.

I abandon laundry in the hallway and go to see my landlord, who infoms me it will take two hours for him to get a copy of my keys. Though inconvenient, it is the same amount of time that I will need to do my laundry.
I recover my laundry and make the 1 block walk to 123 Laundry, toss in my clothes in two of the top loading machines and one of the double sized side loading washers. $2 and $2.25, at least it's cheaper than the place I used to go use in Oakland.
Trying to determine how to fight off boredom for the next two hours, I find the TV remote chained to a pole near the dryers. Turning on the TV, I find limited reception (along with functionality of the remote) as I skip through the channels. Punch Drunk Love is on Fox, so I take a seat while other patrons give odd looks at me, in my pajamas.
Hey, it's a good movie, and it's laundry day.
When the wash is done I'm able to set my clothes in three seperate dryers and get 6 minute for every quarter. $1.75 each does the trick, taking care to avoid the few dryers, just as I had the washers, marked as broken.
45 miuntes later, my clothes are clean, my key is ready, and I'm back in my apartment. After putting away my laundry, I take a shower and put on some warm, clean clothes.
And I'm finally out of my pajamas.

I have a friend that doesn't understand how someone in San Francisco will opt to do their own laundry when they are surrounded by dry cleaning spots and it's only so many cents a pound. Hmm...cause I only do mine so often and by the time I get to it, it's literally the equivalent of my body weight, which makes for some interesting carrying methods. (Aside from the stuff that gets dry cleaned, I have a million of everything like socks, unmentionables, t-shirts, pjs, shorts...you name it. So it makes me lag knowing I have lots of clean stuff still!)
Thank God this place is a block away, and they have ample washers and dryers. The only thing about going in on Saturday or Sunday mornings is that everyone and their mother has the exact same plan as I do, and here I was thinking that I would beat the crowds and do my laundry on a weekend morning...!
Anyway, be warned, there's this one man that literally takes BOTH folding tables, and practically every cart and dryer in the joint to do his laundry. Nice as he seems, that is TOO much! It's like he's literally running his own dry cleaning spot from this place! What?!
Once I was in there and another girl looked at him after waiting forever and said 'so you're basically spending your whole paycheck in here aren't ya"...hehe!
I seriously need to plan on getting here late on a Tuesday or something.
