I am writing this review about The122Bar. The122Bar is at 241 Winslow Way W and somehow their logo has become affixed to this defuncted business's review page. The 122Bar has invested heavily to brand it's business as the place to go for good food, cold beer, and live entertainment. They are kid friendly as well as adult fun oriented. Pool, Shuffle Board, Live Music, Karoke and Triva Nights are just a few of the offerings. Check out their website and you will see the calender is filled with events. The122Bar has a beautiful location and great food.

From the outside looks cute and it is when you walk into this restaurant. Appears upscale, especially when compared to everything else around this small country-cottage type of town. It was Happy Hour when we found ourselves here... apparently the first, and possibly only, place to have HH on the island. It was expensive however!! Guess for being the first, they didn't understand the concept of it.
The friends ordered beers, standard. Bartender was also slow which made me decide against ordering my own. I was hungry but after viewing the other patrons meals, was glad to save my $10+ and wait for a decent meal elsewhere. Burnt pizza which looked as appetizing as a Tostino's 99 cent supermarket pie. Blah.Listed in: Good & Bad in Rainy Town

During one of the nights in Seattle, the bf and I decided to take the short ferry ride across to the neighboring Bainbridge Island. For $7 roundtrip, you get a calm and relaxing 35 minute ride out of the bustle of downtown Seattle. We left the docks of Seattle at 6:10pm and caught a magnificent view of the city lights. Once on the island, we docked in a very secluded area and although I had been to Bainbridge years before, I couldn't remember for the life of me where to head out to.
Unfortunately for us we didn't do too much research ahead of time and were banking on Yelp to give us some recommendations onsite. And although Yelp was SUPER helpful, we were kind of out of luck with many restaurants closed early on a Tuesday evening. Go figure. Yet while walking on what seemed like the main street, we stumbled upon 122 Winslow and decided to take our chances.
We were promptly seated upon arrival and found the décor was reminiscent of a small cottage with warm candlelight and minimal furniture. Their menu was not vast but offered a few enticing options. The bf settled upon the steak with frites and I chose the chicken piccata with risotto. We both opted for a glass of their house red....a Washington State Cabernet.
Overall, our food was enjoyable and came well priced. The steak was cooked to order, medium rare and my chicken was juicy and flavorful. The risotto was the real star of my dish, perfectly creamy and balanced with the wild mushrooms.
All in all, we were pretty happy that Lady Luck came our way and guided us to 122 Winslow. Solid 3.5 Stars.
Note to any future visitors of Bainbridge, make it a day trip to ensure more dining and shopping options. -

I am striking in between a 3 and 3.5. I cautioned on the side of 3 because there was nothing to drive it closer to a 4. I was perplexed.
This used to be the Winslow Way... which was crap exterior, crap interior, crap menu and crap... well everything.
That sounds harsh and cruel, but really nothing was performed right when I went to the Winslow Way. It's under new ownership. The place has gone through a major overhaul and the colors and the updates are nice. Warm woods, nice dark chairs, and cute little wooden tables.
The man said that the Free-Form Lasagna was delicious. And it was had great ingredients. The spinach, the mushrooms was a nice complement to the overlays of pasta and bolognese sauce. However, problem: there were three cheeses.
My fat girl self couldn't find the cheese. Where was it. The sprinkle of pecorino was disappointing. I don't like the cheese to be overwhelming, but I never like to be underwhelmed by cheese.
I'll whine. Or and try to compromise with some condiment in some sort of abusive "Celebrity Rehab" type behavior. Dr. Drew will come and amputate my shizz.
And that was $15. I was still kind of hungry after.
The taste of the burger I had was good... and the pizza was okay. From walking in there and getting a glimpse, you can tell that it had just been overhauled and some of the stuff is a major work in progress. If you are in the industry, the facts certainly pull to relegate that this might be an inexperienced restauranteur. So the benefit of the doubt, can shine through... or not.
The ambiance needs to be resuscitated... if you have delicate and elegant flourishes in your decor... shouldn't I feel that walking in? Instead I was cold and looking to where I could get warm. Without your kind help, hostess.
Maybe say cheese.
And add cheese.
To my plate.
Thanks.
However, to my delight they did hire a well-educated (and educated, I mean ... perhaps I mean well-versed in liquor) bartender. Phil made a great Ginger Lemon Drop ... it almost felt healthy.
However, for a restaurant that has the balls to stand on it's address alone, let's hope it is able to work up more of an appetite in it's customers... and fill them successfully after.
Because, then your lack of a name and having just an address, will just reveal your lack of creativity. -

What can I say? I loved everything! Everything!
We went early and had a great seat at the bar - seems I always end up at the bar hmmmmm - anyway, I ordered the Lasagna - fantastic. A new spin on bolognese. It was a few layers of perfectly spiced beef in between perfectly al dente sheets of pasta. It was light and fulfilling at the same time. It wasn't a huge portion of lasagna that was baked on a pan and portioned out . Its a nicely done free form pasta dish, it was great.
My friend had the Drunken Banana Split - holy crap - it was an amazing taste sensation, what was cool about it was the different layers of flavor. There was a Kahlua marscapone, fresh berries, fresh bananas, over a Cabernet franc (i think) ice cream, all atop a spiced rum buttery somethin sauce. Oh my god! so damn good.
We also got to try the Pot De Creme - that was like eating sweetened air. Its like a lighter - cooler, no crust creme brule - without the brule. it was topped with fresh berries and a biscoti - I didn't get to try the biscoti - as someone else enjoyed it!
The best part of the evening was there were 10 people sitting at the bar by the time I left and I knew every one of them! Very cool!
I always thought that we needed some good Italian food on the Island - looks like its headed in the right direction! There are a myriad of dishes available from all over the Mediterranean - and I look forward to trying them!1 Previous Review: Show all »

Ended up here after walking up and down "downtown" Bainbridge Island and no other restaurants sounded appealing. The catch was it had happy hour. Cheap food and drinks? Yes, please!
122 Winslow is a bit fancy. The bar is wood and very shiny. There are fancy mirrors on the wall and I almost feel like I am in a rich man's bar from the colonial days.
We sit down and there is only one bartender working, Despite running around he managed to make eye contact and let me know he'd be with us in a minute. I noticed a chalkboard on the wall detailing happy hour drink prices. $3 beers, $5 wine and well drinks. What kind of well liquor are they using to still charge $5 a pop for happy hour? Hm...
Our waiter gets to our table and hands us menus and lets us know that certain items are 25% off for happy hour. The menu wasn't very exciting and a little overpriced. There are appetizers, pizza, hamburgers, and sandwiches. The hamburgers are gourmet because one reached $25. I decided to go with the chicken sandwich because it came with bacon (yay bacon!) and he went with the pulled pork sandwich.
After a bit of a wait our food makes it to the table. Two bites into my sandwich I realize, in horror, that my bacon was missing. The waiter stops by to see how we are doing and I inquire about the missing bacon and to my dismay they ran out and he forgot to tell me. Punch me in the throat why don't you? He apologizes and says he'll take a dollar off the price. Okay.
The french fries that came with the sandwich were shoestring and very tasty. They must have been fresh because I had the entire pile. Yum.
Our food is finished and the bill comes. The dollar that was supposed to be taken off was still there. *sigh* I wasn't going to argue. There was no bacon in my belly. The damage was done and there was no used in fighting it.
I would skip 122 Winslow unless you're a politician, a rich middle aged woman, or someone who doesn't like bacon. -

Don't even think about coming here. The main problem is this: They fancy themselves an upscale fine cuisine expensive restaurant but they're serving up cafeteria quality food.
Everything we ordered was ok tasting, if we were at TGI Fridays or Applebees. Maybe the rent is high or something but this place is a complete rip-off. The service was terrible, there was no asking if our food was ok, or re-filling your drinks (so make the drink they bring to you last). -

Went for a nice dinner with another couple to Bainbridge on a day trip and we stumbled into 122 Winslow after dropping by 3 other places on the island! It's a good thing because we were definitely running short on options. We were promptly seated and given our menus. $13 salmon, unheard of? Something must have been up. We were greeted by our friendly waitress who said she even suggested to the owner to raise the price of it, but said that wasn't necessary because it sells itself. We were also recommended the scallops, as I always go after the most expensive item on the menu, I ordered the scallops natch. A tad overdone, but still delicious with a buttery yet light side of shredded(?) Brussels sprouts (a personal favorite). The salmon from what I heard was amazing. Another friend ordered the free form lasagna and raved about it.
Lastly, our waitress tempted us with desserts citing an on site pastry chef to which we ordered the Drunken Banana Split. I believe it is pretty accurately described in another post on here, but things such as "this is the best dessert ever", "completely amazing" could be heard from the table.
Would recommend and come here again any day. Minor nitpicks (service wasn't the fastest and water wasn't getting refilled..) Wasn't blown away, but an excellent overall experience and value and friendly waitress. -

We ate here once - every food item we ordered was literally disgusting. The "pizza" tasted like bland/mushy cardboard. The fish and chips were so overcooked that the breading was a dark brown and the fish inside was incinerated beyond having a drop of moisture. They didn't have any malt vinegar!
Not that Winslow Way Cafe was a gastronomic experience, but we really do miss it as a fun place to go to have a drink and some decent food.
Enough said -- won't ever go back. -

Winslow Way Café is back as 122 Winslow.
Ask for Kyla's pizza and you'll not only gain instant insider credentials but you'll get the best off-the-menu vegetable thin-crust pizza - sautéed mushrooms, spinach, fresh tomato, basil, reggiano parmesan cheese - yum!
The Ceasar salad dressing is lick-your-plate good and is a perfect light dinner with a cup of any of their soups.
I love the stylish but understated interior - nice colors. One of my dinning companions yearned for the couches of yore in the bar. -

Utterly underwhelmed. We didn't want to wait 45 minutes for the Harbor Public House (it was a sunny Friday evening, we should have known) so we headed to 122 Winslow. The signage told us that there was a new menu and a new look inside. It was true. The interior is nice, the tables have linens on them, its freshly painted in there and there are some nice wall sconces. We sit, are presented with menus and begin the decision-making process.
We order drinks and an appetizer (mini corndogs - yeah!) and get distracted by drawing on the paper on top of the linens. It felt like we were at Cucina Cucina. Drinks arrive, then the appetizer. Corndogs were good, and taste like they may have been hand-breaded. We did, however eat the whole appetizer without any silverware or napkins.
The food was utterly forgettable. Fish and chips were battered well, but the fish was tough. The fries were shoestring fries and awesomely salty. Also at our table we had a burger and the pulled pork sandwich and the mac and cheese. No one raved about their food. We sent the mac and cheese to be boxed up (nearly 3/4 of the dish) and the box never returned. When we asked about it, she had to go look for it. At this point, we had already gotten our check and paid. She emerged once and told us "sorry, the busser must have tossed it" and we were shocked. We sat there for a few more minutes and she emerged with the box. So she gets some credit for "finding" the leftovers. However, she didn't inquire about the quality of our meal ("how is everything tonight?") even when she saw the plate of uneaten mac and cheese.
Ah yes, the bill. This is where we run into a problem. Dinner for 4 of us was $130! In a place where there was a "band" playing in the bar. I wish I was kidding! I also wish that we had ordered copious amounts of liquor. But nay, neither of those are true. 4 beers and 4 cocktails. Completely forgettable (and overpriced) food. Questionable service. No way. -

I came to 122 Winslow looking for a cozy pub to watch the Seahawks game at. I am not from Bainbridge nor am I really familiar with it, but was told that this place would be open and showing the game. The decor is rather nice- upscale and elegant type of feel- but it did not seem to match the service from my experience. It was casual, slow, and a little inattentive. The food was mediocre at best and not worth the pricey fare. It was happy hour and so I did receive 25% off most appetizers and entrees, but I must admit I had some sticker shock over the $15 nachos and $12 sandwiches. I left feeling underwhelmed and with no real desire to go back.

My family and I are BIG fans of 122 Winslow. The location is perfect nestled on the corner of Madison and Winslow Way. A great spot to walk to from our home, sit on the porch and watch the people walking up and down Winslow Way, and enjoy a glass of wine or one of their great local beers on tap.
The waitstaff are very friendly, the bartender, Jim is always eager to please (he knows instantly my favorite drink), and the whole atmosphere is classy, but very warm and friendly.
The food is a nice mix of Northwest cuisine (scallops, salmon and other seafoods can be found on the menu), and comfort foods (try the famous 122 Burger). Whether we are there as a family or with my wife on a date night, we always find something flavorful and filling to nosh on.
More recently they have added a DJ and live music on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, which makes for a lively "after hours" atmosphere. This has added a much needed "nightlife" to Bainbridge Island, that we have really enjoyed.
Overall the feel of 122 Winslow is that of a warm and friendly bar and restaurant where we can be guaranteed a satisfying experience in both atmosphere and dining. Definitely recommend. -

unfortunately, poor service, bad beer selection and so so food. I can't imagine why they closed down. They had a great location and couldn't make it work. Karaoke night had it's moments, well that one time... I live on Bainbridge 2 blocks away and couldn't bring myself to come here more than twice. Pity.

This place has the worst service I have ever incountered. Too bad the burgers are actually decent, so are the fries. I wish it didn't take an hour to get service!! Very frusterating experiences there so far.

I should know that a $3 happy hour beer does not a good restaurant make! The service was terrible, although the male teen who waited on us wasn't rude, just inept (like I was on my first day waiting tables). It took us 3 tries to get the proper menus. I overheard staff walking up to other seated tables, asking "have you been helped?" even though it was obvious that they had not. Things would probably run smoother if they hired a contentious host or hostess, because nobody seemed to have a clue. So, we ordered the bruschetta, and it took AGES to arrive. It appeared to be thinly sliced ciabatta bread, topped with wet tomatoes that made it soggy. I use ciabatta to make bruschetta myself sometimes, but I make sure it's thick enough to stand up to the toppings, AND I drain my tomatoes. It was burned in spots - not just darkened, but nasty, bitter, and blackened. Still, it wasn't bad enough to send back, and we'd waited so long by then we didn't have time to wait for them to make another. The silverware is wrapped in paper napkins, but was dirty. An older guy brought the appetizer out to us, and when we pointed out the dirty cutlery, he said "oh, it just hasn't been polished". But there were dried fingerprints on the knives and dried-something on our forks, so don't play that game with me.
We might have ordered another glass of wine, but our waiter had disappeared. When he finally came back, he did apologize for things taking so long, but in the olden days, if one of us went on break, the rest of the waitstaff would pitch in and cover those tables, especially when guests are sitting at an empty table with empty wine glasses.
And the bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a week. Maybe that was the hostesses responsibility? Oh...wait... -

We wanted to like this place, because they have a really good beer selection and good happy hour prices. Because of this, though, they seemed completely overwhelmed during happy hour. Service was painfully slow and forgetful, and to get the check I wound up going up to the bar. Food was decidedly average. The burger was decent.
Overall, a two-star experience that dropped to one star when we got the bill. The check included one of those guides to what dollar amount various percentage tips would be -- but the math was wrong, with all the values inflated by at least $1 from what the actual value should be. We don't know if this was a system glitch, or a deliberate attempt to take advantage of drunk people who are bad at math, but it left us with a really bad taste, and we will never go back. -

Visited at 3pm on an idle Wednesday. Not very busy, 4 tables outside,no one inside. Asked for a glass of water twice and the bartender/server forgot. Asked for French dip no cheese, but it came with cheese and the fries were cold. Beer is good though. Food is good. Service was less than spectacular souring the whole experience. For the price you pay here, I'd expect a waitstaff that at least acknowledges their customer's requests.

2 and a half. First of all, we sat for 20 minutes before someone came to take our order and since the menu is soo small we had decided quickly. The hummus plate was good but small for $10. The steak frites was flavorful, the burger good and the fish and chips ok. The fries suck though. They are ultimate shoestring and that is not an exaggeration. Our waitress was good, once she noticed us and the food was decent but not worth the hundy we put down.

Would NEVER go back to this place. The waiter was insanely rude, walked away when being spoken to, whined about a mistaken order "I told you five times that you were ordering that!", took 30 minutes to deliver the salads/appetizers, and sat at the bar during most of our dinner chatting with a friend. No wonder we were the only ones in the restaurant (the bar was full). Then, to add insult to injury, they pre-tipped our party of four adults and two children. It was also very overpriced for what it was. Paradoxically, the food was pretty good. Nonetheless, I'll never go back and would advise anyone else to stay away.

Food was not good, service was not good either.
Not worth the $60 for 4 people for lunch. would never go back to this place.
Ordered the veggie panini which was the special- out came a grilled sandwich on regular bread (not panini bread) with scant veggies inside and globs of dijon mustard. I left still hungry. waittress did not refill drinks until we asked, and we also had to wait a very long time for the food to come out. -

My husband and I were in Bainbridge over the weekend on a short getaway and took the ferry over to the island. The waitress was a local - friendly but efficient; didn't chat too long or check in very often but seemed nice. Food was good, not great. We went during happy hour so I felt Ok about the value vs. the food we were served. I don't think I'd go back and pay regular prices but happy hour worked out well.
