Hands down [or wave 'em up in the air!], my favorite non-commercial, raw-space venue [if you can even call it that] in the city.  Pretty sure it's just someone's loft that they rent out when they can.  And it's in my neighborhood...5 minute bike ride up Classon Avenue? Shoo', I'm there!

This place has serious potential for the some jammin' summertime parties, be they day or night.  Isaac and Justin got the description of this place down pat, but I will add that I had one of the best times that I've had in a loooong while at the Dixon daytime party a few weeks back.

Can't wait to get back there!

I went here for a party this weekend - Meanred Productions hosts a series of  "Lose Your Sh*t" loft parties at this space.  The musical talent is inconsistent, but the space is definitely great for a party & the crowd was pretty cool.  The neighborhood surrounding this place is not that grimy so it doesn't have that much of an underground feel to it, but it definitely feels like you're at a house party in someone's dope loft.  Arrive early because there's often line going up the stairwell to get in.

Raw old school NY loft style space, deep in the heart of Brooklyn. I can;t figure out whether this is a legal venue or simply a loft space, it seems like the latter. There's no sign or appearance of anything official, you show up and can hear the beats booming from out on the street, then you go up a dimly lit stairway to enter the venue. It's a big, open, unfinished loft space with a makeshift bar set up, no coat check or any of the other unnecessary trappings of more official nightlife venues. The sound is loud and clean, the room dark, and the people are up totally up for it. Everyone was boogeying and having a great time. Musically, the vibe was super eclectic, the DJs were going from funk & soul to hip hop, electro, house and everything else. There's a huge outdoor balcony for smokers too. The bathroom situation is pretty weak, just two toilets, and there was a long line for most of the night. I wouldn't recommend this place as s pot to check out randomly, but if you see something you like being put on here, it could be a fun spot.

This is easily one of the best new "clubs" to come about (more like a giant loft) for less pop-oriented, but highly danceable EDM in the city.  Of course it is located in a part of Brooklyn that B&T and most tourists will stay far away from, and is likely not easy to find for first timers. The House-n'-Home party hosted by Beyond Booking (who throws The Bunker parties at Public Assembly) and local DJ, Anthony Parasole, is the staple here, typically bringing in some of the newest and classic performers in, arguably, American-born/bred styles of EDM music (i.e. Deep Chicago House, Dub & Detroit Techno). Examples of artists that have recently played are Move D, Mike Huckaby Jus-Ed, Adultnapper, Pole and Dixon. Of course, there is no need to "dress to impress" and like similar parties that continue to pop up these days the crowd is very international and down-to-earth. Although most of the parties thus far have been held during the winter, there is a huge outdoor space next to the DJ booth that serves as a great place to smoke or chat it up with party goers or other industry people, including the DJs.
