Really enjoyed this charming Winery in North Georgia on Sunday afternoon. Tasting selection of 4 wines for only $12. Lauren guided us through our selections with hospitality and knowledge. After the tasting we bought a bottle to enjoy on the lovely patio enjoying the view. This would be a great spot for a wedding or other event. We wound up buying two bottles and some delicious bourbon balsamic vinegar she let us sample. I wish they had offered more snacks... they just had prepackaged limited selection. I would love to have had a picnic on their patio.
Will return soon... a lovely way to relax in the mountains.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Jenn, thank you for the kind words and sharing your experience here at 12 Spies Vineyards. We are so glad you enjoyed your time with us and look forward to your return.
Yes, our offering of food is limited as we are a winery and do not want to get into the restaurant business due to license, costs and as you well know finding staff. We do encourage our guests to bring snacks/picnics to enjoy with their wine.
We look forward to seeing you again soon!

We recently moved to North Georgia while we're building our house in Highlands. I have been wanting to come by 12 Spies for a long time because I have heard how great the wine and the overall experience is.
So many great things to say about it! I decided to swing by and buy some wines this afternoon. I was greeted by Mike Brown, the owner, what an amazing, awesome, kind, smart, and informative guy! I did a tasting before I bought any wine, and he was very helpful. He took the time to explain to me all the nuances of each wine. It was not rushed, and he looked me in the eye (which is unheard of these days) as we spoke. No pressure, no rush, what a delightful conversation, experience and ambience! He answered all of my questions, and his description of each wine was on point! To my surprise, every wine I tried was amazing! We all know that wine in the south is not that great but this wine, everything I tried, was SO good. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! After the wine tasting, Mike suggested I take a glass of wine out onto the huge, beautiful covered patio. The views were phenomenal, there were cows, corn hole, a sunset and live music! Thank you Mike! I appreciate you suggesting I go enjoy the environment. Really was a nice time to reflect, and put things in perspective!
Such a great place to go with girlfriends, date night, hang out. I had no idea that something close to Clayton and Highlands was nearby! I highly suggest checking, out 12 Spies.
Btw- People that complained about a winery not being child friendly and/or racist... REALLY?!! Wth?!! Wow! No such thing here!! Who brings kids to a Winery? And you say an adult/over 21 business establishment is racist because they don't cater to children? This is just laughable and absurd to me! I have to say, when I go winetasting, or want to go relax and watch the sunset or hang out with friends and just have a nice glass of wine, I DO NOT want a bunch of kids running around screaming! Keep them at home, hire a babysitter, go out and enjoy the evening or the afternoon with a beautiful glass of wine. PLEASE. Kids are not part of a wine experience and nobody at that establishment wants to listen to or see a bunch of kids running around! Hello!! Take them to Chuck E. Cheese or a park. Save a winery such as 12 Spies for a relaxing time to slow down, sip, and enjoy the moment, treat yourself to that! You deserve it!
I bought six bottles and look forward to sharing them with my friends and family! I will definitely be back with girlfriends, my husband, my newfound friends, who all enjoy a great way to experience life, be in the moment, and enjoying a really nice glass of wine! You want to go here, you deserve to go here, (and you deserve to leave the kids with a babysitter!) Enjoy time with adults! You're welcome!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Mary H.Montgomery, AL32297Nov 13, 2023
Visiting the Northern Georgia Region with my aunt and uncle. Stop as a quick respite from shopping and the visit to 12 Spies Vineyard wonderful. The combination of incredible wines, stunning scenery, and exceptional hospitality made for a truly memorable experience. If you're a wine lover or simply seeking a peaceful getaway (especially from holiday weekend traffic on highway 23), I highly recommend visiting 12 Spies Vineyard. You won't be disappointed!

My husband and I drove from Franklin, NC to 12 Spies on our honeymoon. We did a tasting of four wines for both of us, which were all fantastic. Being more of a red wine drinker we went with a bottle of the Pinot Noir. Even though, and I apologize to her because I can't remember her name, suggested trying a sample of the Chardonnay. Not being a Chardonnay drinker...it was incredible. But also, so was she! 5 stars for service!
Looking for wineries somewhat near us I chose 12 Spies based on the reviews and feedback from the owner.
The view was beautiful and super relaxing. Will definitely be back when we are in town! You guys are great.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

We've enjoyed wine at many vineyards across the US from PA to CA and highly recommend 12 Spies! This is our third trip to 12 Spies and it just keeps getting better. An excellent selection of both white and red, dry and sweet. The people are the most friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable. A special shout out to Lauren for being so wonderful! And hugs to Mike. This place is pretty special. Wish we lived closer.
We will be back!!!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

They grow grapes for one of their wines that was sold out when I visited. The other grapes come from California and are made into wine at their location. The staff was friendly. It's $10 for four 1 oz samples. I went with a $9 glass of red wine and sat outside to listen to the live music. You have a Mountain View. There are other vineyards that are prettier in the area and serve their own grapes. The owner responded and said the other vineyards in the area also bring in grapes, but are not honest about it.
There is plenty of parking. The tasting room is very clean.Helpful 3Thanks 0Love this 2Oh no 0Business owner information

A milk toast review! Sara, not sure the issue with sourcing grapes from other vineyards, but that's a personal thing I guess. As a YELP Elite reviewer I'm not sure readers can discern anything from this review. While you don't describe anything outstanding, you also don't say anything is dissatisfactory either. I reached out to you privately to get a better idea from your perspective, but like most reviewers you decided to hide behind the key board and didn't reach back to me.
By the way, the other 2 wineries you visited in the area and wrote up, also source grapes from other vineyards and states! At least we are honest with our guests. Cheers - Lorraine I.Decatur, GA05Dec 30, 2023
Owners used to allow kids but do not anymore, and are a bit judgy. Mostly an older graying or "qtip" crowd as my friend says.
