Review from Steve S.
I'd heard about the 12 South Tap Room on several occasions and wanted to give it a shot. Since my family and I stopped in with our dog, we had to sit outside. The outdoor area was full, so we had to wait for about 15 minutes. The seating arrangement is a little unorganized as the wait staff pretty much let's people fight for a table.
Once we got a table, we were greeted pretty quickly. They have a great selection of beer. The draught menu changes frequently according to the menu. If you like craft and import beer, you'll enjoy it here.
The menu has a wide variety of food to choose from. This is not your typical bar/pub menu. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and tasted delicious. All of the ingredients were fresh and high quality. I'm definitely a fan and I'll be returning soon. -
Review from Stu R.
I kind of hate to be a wad and crap all over 12 South, but here goes...
The parking in the back is ridiculous, I'd even say unacceptable. If you've ever wanted to get your car dented up in a rocky field, look no further than 12 South's rear parking lot. There's no parking lines so people are parked in any place they can wedge their car (many were even double parked). I think it reflects poorly on the business that they expect their customers to duke it out in this thunderdome-style battle royale.
Speaking of customers having to fight each other, 12 South has no host/hostess. This means if everything is full, you've got to hawk your own spot and battle other patrons for a table. Seeing how this place is super popular, this means a lot of standing around and worrying. There's a good chance you'll miss the next open table and you will have no idea how long you'll be waiting.
Prices are about 20-30% higher than they should be. Happy hour and daily specials help soothe the burn, but I'd personally just prefer to see an overall price slash and not have to work within the limitations of the specials.
Food is extremely hit-or-miss. Avoid the brisket quesadillas. Some of the meat hunks were nothing but fat blobs. Not the delicious kind of moist fat you get from brisket, but the kind the chewy kind of stuff you'd never want in your mouth. I had the cheesesteak, which was good, but IMO overpriced at $13.
The beer selection is fantastic, the best I've seen in Nashville. The prices are pretty nuts though... Take the Oskar Blues Ten Fidy for example. Their price is $10.50 a can. The 4 pack retails for $16, so 12 South is adding 162.5% in mark-up. Yikes.
IF you find parking, IF you get a good seat without waiting too long, IF you go on a day with good beer specials, and IF you get lucky on a good dish, 12 South can be pretty rad. However, there's too much that often goes wrong in that list of conditions that leads to a semi-sour experience. -
Review from J B.
12 South is Nashville's best beer bar. Period.
In three visits I racked up some serious Untappd credit with a few regional goodies and even some national treasures. I tried some of OR's lightly exported Caldera and was on hand for the first TN tapping of Brooklyn Brewery's Mary's Maple Porter. On each visit the tap wall had a slew of new brew (a big plus for me).
The crowd is friendly and mixed. There are plenty of hip Nashvillians plus a dedicated set of craft aficionados. As for service, the bartenders are knowledgeable, prompt, and quick to offer a sample if you drag your feet on an order.
Food experiences were both good and OK. The smoked chicken burrito is awesome and highly recommended. CHEESE PLEASE! The burgers, on the other hand, are not to my taste as the kitchen implants them with a hearty dose of rosemary. If you like beef bathing in rosemary, order a burger! If not, then don't! In fairness to the staff, they will warn you about the nature of the burgers, so cheers to the added info!
This spot is now my favorite little drinkery in Music City. Glad to see the 12th South neighborhood coming to life and being bolstered by great places like this one! -

It took me a while to get the hang of this place, but once I realized this is the closest Nashville has to a Portland-style bottle shop, my expectations shifted. This place gets four stars on the basis of its beer selection and overall coolness.
I come here once every week or two to see what's new on draft. There're always a couple of selections that you won't find anywhere else in Nashville -- Last night, it was Fort Collins For the Love of Peach and Highland Little Hump.
Lately I've just been coming for the beer, but if I get the munchies, there are plenty of options, most of which are much better than your average bar fare. Apps come out fast, but if you order from the rest of the menu, be prepared to wait a while. The kitchen is tiny. Some of the items on the menu can be hit-or-miss (miss: anything with the tortilla chips, which come from a bag and can be stale), but I've never gone wrong with the Tex-Mex stuff like the quesadillas.
The bar is small, and seating is limited, especially when it's too cold for the patio. Nevertheless, this being Nashville, they found room for a tiny stage kind of in the middle of things. The bar stools are ridiculously heavy, but it must cut down on people moving them around.
There's no host stand; seat yourself. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating, but it would be generous to call them attentive. It's a freakin' beer bar, though, so cut them some slack. -
Review from Jeremy E.
Overrated. But, still a pretty decent spot.
Know coming in that if you are in a rush, you will be irritated with the lack of initiative shown by the staff. I feel like they pump invisible THC in the air there because the staff moves at a snail's pace.
Food is average to above average depending on what you get.
Beer selection is solid.
The only time I go is when it's nice and I want to sit on a patio. -

My girlfriends and I decided to try a new watering hole on Friday. After much deliberation and Yelp browsing, we decided on 12 South Taproom.
When we arrived, the place was packed. However, not one server would speak to us. We tried to grab several to see if we could seat ourselves at first available or if needed to wait in the front. After waiting over 15 minutes to get a simple question answered my friend followed a waitress to the back register in hopes of getting a reply. The waitress, in a very stern tone AND without making eye contact, told us to seat ourselves. Thanks, Ms. Not That Nice Pants.
We walked back up to the front and stood there for another 15 minutes waiting on something to open up. Finally a couple was leaving, so we grabbed a table. Suddenly, a different waitress screamed that the table was for some people waiting at the bar. People who were obviously friends of hers... and had just got there. Awesome.
WTF, 12 South Taproom!?!? So disappointing.
Needless to say, we said forget that noise and walked next door to Mafiozia's where the service is friendly, the pizza is dreamy and the seating system isn't one big cluster fluck game of Guess Who. -

12 South Taproom is a great option for vegans or vegetarians looking to grab some above-average bar food with meat-loving friends.
First off, if you're a strict vegan, you'll want to check with your server rather than taking my word for it that these dishes are vegan. I'm not strict, so I ordered things that appeared to be vegan (didn't have any obvious non-vegan components) but I didn't check with the server.
I got the soysage tacos, potato wedges, spicy green beans, and black bean and corn salad (the latter three to share, this is a TON of food for one person!). If you haven't had soysage before, you may not care for the taste. If you've had it and like it, I'd definitely recommend these tacos. For $9 you get 3 double-stacked corn tortilla tacos with soysage, onions, cilantro, and salsa verde. The salsas are delicious, fresh and very spicy. I found them really filling.
Potato wedges are standard, but thick, crispy, and very filling. The spicy green beans were cooked but left crunchy, well-seasoned but quite spicy (I loved 'em, but was glad I had a beer to enjoy them with!). The black bean and corn salad was the perfect complement--cool, flavorful, refreshing.
I really, really appreciate the numerous vegetarian (and vegan) options hanging out alongside burgers, chicken, and brisket at 12 South. It's one of the few places I can grab a vegan bite and not hear a peep from my meat-loving friends about feeling like they didn't get what they wanted. Having a bar that has tons of vegetarian, vegan, and meat-based dishes is a fantastic thing for Nashville!
The one downside to 12 South is that it gets really packed, and there's no hostess. When we first came in it was crowded, and there was nowhere we could stand without being in the way. The bar was overloaded and standing by the door meant everyone trying to enter and exit had to make it past us. When a table was clearing out, we moved to stand by it to make sure another group didn't grab it, but then we were in the servers' way. I felt like we were causing problems for the staff and the patrons, but couldn't find anywhere to stand where we could both scope out free tables and not be in someone's way. I really, really wish they'd consider having a hostess so we could wait outside for a table! -

Nice afternoon spot. Gets crowded on weekend nights. Beer selection rotates frequently and values quality over quantity of selection.

*Great bar atmosphere; cheery, loud, cozy all at the same time.
*The large patio outside has loads of heaters.
*The beer selection is good, which is what you should expect of a "taproom".
*The servers were all uber-friendly and helpful. The lack of singular server slightly fucks with my head..there are so many different people bepopping in that I get confused as to how they keep it all straight, but they did so cheers to them.
*Food is above average for bar food. The potato wedge boats that floated in a pool of blue cheese were good, but I was sad to see a bunch of blue cheese go to waste. The mac n' cheese is pretty fucking good... like so good I want another bowl of it right now. Spicy green beans are also excellent, not too soft. The only thing I had that I wasn't a fan of was the grilled veggies. They were all too soggy for me, I like more crunch, and seemed more like they would go better as toppings to a sandwich than as their own side.Listed in: Nashvegas

Love this place. Great menu. I've never ordered an entree I didn't enjoy. They have an amazing patio and they're dog friendly, too, which is really cool. Sometimes you have to wait a while to get a seat on the patio, especially if the weather is nice, but that's to be expected. Huge beer selection if that's your thing.

Love the atmosphere and beer selection. As the adventurous type, I love ordering ridiculous beers like the "800 pound gorilla". The severs are always super friendly and knowledgable if you aren't sure what you want. Seriously - don't be shy because the selection can be a bit confusing as it's not organized by type.
While it's too cold now, there's nothing quite like enjoying an afternoon brew on the patio outside. Free WiFi plus tasty snacks make it a great place to finish out some work in the afternoon after you're sick of sitting in coffeeshops. -

Not great...
The service is SLOW at best and the food is marginal.
Definitely not worth the wait.

The beer selection makes 12th South on of my favorite places to talk to complete strangers at. The busy atmosphere on the porch makes lightens the oppressiveness of the mutual decision to continue speaking or go like this never happened. The other people having fun, endears the possibility that the exciting/boring/embarrassing stories being shared are meaningful/weird/wtfstartrek.
The beer selection is top notch in the city. Just don't get drunk on a first date. Unless the date sucks, then by all means.
Also the Mac n Cheese is incredible.Listed in: If you are planning an OkCupid…

I ordered a Peroni,
Moments later... "sorry we're out."
"How about a Schlafly?"
"Oh, you're out of that too?"
"Chimay please?"
I finally score.
I struck out with the beers but the food was on par. The hummus and pita appetizer was delicious and we split "soysage" tacos too and were delighted! I didn't realize how veg-friendly 12 South Taproom was but they have stepped up to the challenge! -

Two things have come to my attention recently: 1. That I haven't written a review since February. What can I say? Being back in school burns a guy out a little bit on writing 2. 12 South Taproom only has a 3.5 star average? What's up Nashville? Are you on crack or is it just you yelpers?
Well, ladies and gents, I am coming out of yelp retirement in order to right a wrong, let my voice be heard, and most importantly, evangelize the best damn bar in Music City to all you heathens who dare besmirch it's good name.
In this (sometimes) humble beer geek's opinion, 12 South Taproom has the best beer selection in Nashville. Not the biggest, which would obviously have to go to Flying Saucer, but consistently the best. They don't rotate their taps quite as often as I would like, but that's just me being a nitpicky beer nerd. They really do rotate them pretty well. And for those of you who aren't as beer obsessed as I am, the bar tenders are always really nice and willing to help you out with a suggestion, explain a style of beer or even give you a taster before you commit to a whole one. Also, they do a half-pour that they call a "dobo" which is great if you want to try a bunch of different beers in a visit.
Vibe-wise, 12 South is your laid back neighborhood bar, with a kick-ass patio out front. It really tackles all the scenarios that make a great neighborhood bar. Can you come in for lunch and a beer by yourself? check. Grab a table on the weekends with a group of friends? check. Spend 5 hours getting inappropriately drunk in the afternoon and have to come back for your car the next day? check. Trust me. From personal experience, they're happy to help you with any of those situations.
The food, while not 5-star dining or trendy, is fantastic bar food. They're cooking up sandwiches, burgers, tacos, burritos, wings, and oysters even! I haven't had one item that I didn't at least like (burger), if not borderline want to make love to (chicken quesadilla). The only time I've ever had slow service on food like others here are complaining about, was on one of the first warm days of the year when both the inside and patio were packed mid-day. They apologized a bunch and said they just hadn't expected that many people and were a bit understaffed.
I discovered 12 South Taproom probably my second week after moving to Nashvile and it's held strong as my favorite bar in town. Like every other yelper, I misguidedly believe that the only review that matters is my own and think you should love 12 South Taproom as much as I do. Otherwise, we probably can't be friends because you have horrible taste in drinking establishments. -
Review from Blair S.
I came to 12 South thinking only of of the beer selection. No disappointments here. I had draft microbrews from the Rocky Mountains and Nashville that really hit the spot on a hot day after work. What surprised me was the appetizers - we shared ceviche and the herb roasted potato wedges. Oh la la! They were yummy!
The service started out very attentive but slowed down a bit as the crowd grew after 8 PM. Still, service was good.
The prices are a bit on the high side, but the appetizers and beer selection are good enough that I think I'll have to stop by for dinner soon. The only thing truly missing is a happy hour. -

A wall of taps and a cooler brimming over with delightful beer. The menu, beer, has a good, beer, selection of items many of which I have, beer, sampled and found to be a delicious twist on standard fair. Beer. The hipster staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Beer. All in all a great gathering place where you will find good food, a diverse crowd of interesting characters to chat with while enjoying a nice cold... Beverage.
I'm told they also serve wine. -

I've been a few times. It's a place to me.
The last time I went the night started with us being pounced on by 4 or 5 different waiters consistently asking if we needed beverages, to order food, etc. The night ended searching for waiter to pay so we could leave.
Decent food, no beer specials bu a decent variety, fairly pricey. Eh, it was ok, but it was ok for a place where the bill was $25 cheaper. -

Good food and very nice servers. My only letdown was they weren't exactly the quickest staff I've ever experienced. But it was a nice spring afternoon so it didn't really matter.

For the indecisive or adventurous at heart, the $15 mystery beer bucket is just the thing to solve your beer related problems!
I'm pretty sure 12th South always offers the mystery beer bucket. You get 5 randomly selected beers in an ice bucket. Our waiter didn't let on that you can have any say in the type of beer you get, but I bet if certain ladies worked their magic they could get what they want :) It was a lot of fun to try the hodgepodge of beers. We ended up with a red, a bock, a pale ale, something German, and a San Fran microbrewery beer. Pretty neat.
I've heard their food is great but did not get a chance to try it this time around. I'd love to go back and try one of their daily specials. Rumor has it that the pizzas are killer. -

I was at Sam's once and before we ordered the server explained "Just so you guys know, it could take up to an hour to get your food." At 12 South Taproom they evidently don't regard waiting 45 minutes for food worthy of a warning.
I ended up here with three other guys. It was a weekday night and we were looking forward to drowning some grad schools stresses and killing some hunger pains. Before deciding on 12 South we ran down the list of usual spots: Jackson's, Sam's, and the the typical mid town haunts. We thought we'd give 12 South a try. In a city with an abundance of bar-and-grills, none of us will be going back.
If you're going to leave four guys hanging for 45 minutes while they wait for their food you'd think they'd at least keep the water glasses full, or apologize for the fact that its taking so long. Or, oh I don't know, let them know up front. We were visibly annoyed at the whole thing, but there was no attempt at making us happy. No free $5 app or free drink or two.
Once we got our food it was good enough. I wouldn't say my mashed potatoes were particularly hot, or my burger as I had specified - but no big deal. If not for the wait, and lack of recognition of it, I'd give the place 4 stars. -
Review from Sam L.
I met up with my roommate, best friend, & her boyfriend & cousin after work for dinner & some drinks. It was such a cool experience. We sat on the patio for the first hour or so & had a local beer (really cool that they have the local selection), but it got so hot that we decided to move inside. Also, after 7pm they had $10 off bottles of wine, so of course we took advantage of that.
I had a burger, and it was DELICIOUS. There were seasonings & things in the beef that I can't even describe, but it made a really great tasting burger. Also, the corn & red bean salsa was AWESOME! I'll definitely be back! Also - the neighborhood 12 South Taproom is in seems really intriguing to me. I made a mental note to explore it more when I have the opportunity. -

Ahh, 12 South. My favorite place to get some cheap Yazoos and awesome food and hear some killer musicians play.
12 South is a common meet up location for my friends on a weeknight. We keep trying to get there at a good time, but find we get there too late a lot. It fills up quick on nights where bands are playing, such as Kenny Vaughan (who is amazing). Coming early is key to getting a table at all. There have been many times which we came and had no where to sit. This might be why I hesitated in giving a full 5 stars.
Having said that, the nights that we actually found a seat were pretty amazing. Everything about it, the Yazoo, the food and the music. I only made it there early enough to get food one time, which ended up being the smoked chicken sandwich with a Gouda macaroni. Holy smokes, the macaroni was one of the best things I've ever tasted. That accompanied with the Heffe, fantastic.
If you're looking for a quiet hang out, this is not your place. 12 South has a great atmosphere and tons of beer on tap, but it can get loud. Especially when there is music. In my opinion, it's one of the best bars in Nashville and one of the best places to see some of Nashville's best musicians.Listed in: Best Music Venues

I have always appreciated the atmosphere of 12 South Taproom, but tonight they lost me as a customer. When paying a premium price for food and beer I expect good food and a knowledge of how to serve beer.
The food was mediocre and the amount of beer that was served was not satisfactory. My first beer had an inch and a half of head, my second had more. I know this is being picky, but this is beer that I'm paying for and not receiving. As a place that specializes in beer I would expect to be served what I pay for.
Essentially, I feel ripped off. I love the place, but cannot bring myself to go back. Sorry. -

We stopped in here after a recommendation from the Yazoo Brewing Company as a good place to sample beers. I would have never found this place without the recommendation. The place was great. Huge selection of microbrews and beers from local breweries.
Service was great and really tasty appetizers. Has inside and outside seating areas. We sat inside since it was fairly hot outside and had a few pints. The staff was very knowledgeable about the beers and different breweries which really helped. Definitely a place to stop by and enjoy a few pints with the Nashville locals. -

That's it. I'm moving in across the street at Dolly Parton's offices just so I can be within walking distance of 12 South. That, or I'm finding a genie who can transport this place -- and all its wonderful beer taps -- to Boston, right next door to where I live. Hell, let's take it a step further -- let's put this bar INSIDE my home. Don't worry. You're all invited to come hang out, drink a few pints, and listen to some really great music.
12 South is everything I love about low-key beer bars. The selection of beer is AMAZING. They do give you samples, too. Rock on. Here, I had my beloved Terrapin Rye Ale ON DRAFT. But not only that, I savored and got weak in the knees sip after sip of Fort Collins' IPA, which was also on draft.
Oh, the hops... I was in glorious beer ecstasy. I loved this place so much, I meandered my way to the bar to ask if the pint glasses were for sale. Sure were. For only $5. I asked for one, and the bartender pulled one off the newly-washed stack, wiped it dry, and handed it to me. Half the 12 South logo had been scrubbed off.
Imagine all the mouths that had touched that glass! It was like rubbing shoulders with a celebrity. Or the moment before you kiss a really handsome gentleman.
Okay, okay. I exaggerate. The glass is a memento of a fun time after a big business trip. But the bar... oh, the bar! That I do not exaggerate about.
I'm not sure if they offer vegetarian food, but since I came to drink my weight in beer, I didn't mind. -
Review from Nickie G.
I finally got to visit 12 South Taproom this weekend. I see it every time I go get my hair done at Trim but have never stopped by.
So when we walked in it was packed. I immediately felt like "OMG, is this a restaurant?" when all we wanted was some drinks. It had a restaurant/bar feel rather than a bar/restaurant feel to me. That being said, a lovely waitress asked how many we had and immediately sat us at probably the last 2 top in the house and even if was back near the bathrooms at least that means we weren't being trampled by others waiting for their table.
So what do you expect from a taproom? Well, beer, and lots of it. They have tons of beer - brews you've heard of, brews you haven't, brews with the alcohol content of wine, domestic brews, etc. Sadly I'm not much of a beer drinker and when I do drink beer it is Miller Lite (sue me, I don't want the calories), so this isn't my optimal type bar. But I appreciate the idea of a 14% alcohol beer - hell yes! The waitress told us that wines were a couple dollars off per glass so I got that instead. How very princess-y of me. Whatevs!
The ambiance was one of classy casual and the dining room seemed filled with hipsters, musicians, and just regular old people with perhaps a touch more posh than you would find at your more divey bar. But a generally friendly and jovial crowd. The waitress we had was awesome. We had a couple others that came around to clear our table and one chick poured at least 2 good sized sips of wine out thinking it was empty. She was sooooo apologetic and offered to get me another wine immediately. I declined because we were about to leave but I appreciated the apology and the idea of an entire new glass of wine! The menu looked good and so did the food that everyone around me had on the table. I'll definitely have to come back and try it.
So this place is a solid A-OK 3 star with the potential to be more. I can't see this being a regular hangout for me unless I lived down the street and walked there. However, I can see it being a great date place or somewhere to go for low key dinner and drinks with a small group of friends. That probably means I won't be there very often (since low key is not usually on my weekend repertoire) but I definitely will come back and try the food!! -

The best beer bar in the 12th South area, and one of the best in the city. The prices are slightly higher than the Nashville average, but the selection is much better also - they focus on American microbrews. The standard price for draft beers is $5, add one for rarer or higher content microbrew selections.
Happy Hour from 4-7 M-F, $1 off beers.
12th South consistently hosts a unique variety of good music (roots, folk, jazz, celtic, rock) and there's never a cover. The sound of the room, however, is not so good - only two house speakers, the acoustics are very boomy, and the back section of the room is pretty much cut off from speaker land entirely.
The food is a step above your standard bar fare. The daily specials are often good. Try the parmesan mashed potatoes as a side - tough to go wrong there.Listed in: My Neighborhood

SO, after my first time visiting, I went back within 48 hours. The 12 South area is just bustling with newness. There are many fun places to eat and shop.
12 South Taproom isn't all that big. The flare of this place is unique to its own style. You have decorations that are edgy and then there is the beer bottle cap touch. You get a little bit of everyone and everything here.
I came to see the group Gypsy Hombres. They provide excellent back ground music (sorry we laughed at you clarinet player). The bar isn't all that big but great for hanging out with friends. They have a good beer selection.
I ordered the potato wedges with blue cheese sauce. I wanted to lap at the extra sauce like a diggity dog. This app is so good. There were some blue cheese chunks in the sauce. The potatoes were cooked just done enough to give them a light crisp.
Someone else also bought the hummus plates. They are very generous with their hummus. You will have to get extra pita with it. Unless you use a spoon to eat your hummus.
There are about 8 bar seats, many booths and tables. This is a good place for a group. Especially if you can land the 8 person table right in the middle of the room.
The staff tag teams the crowd and do a great job at keeping everything in order. Smoking is only done outside on the patio (which is nice cause they have heaters this time of year.
This guy is a fan now and will be back sooner than later. And...its nice to just roll over to MAFIAoZAs for a piece of za before heading home. :) -

What's not to love about a cozy, comfortable bar with an exhaustive beer list, manned by friendly hipsters? OK, maybe sometimes the live music (which is usually excellent) is a bit too loud for casual conversation, but that could be said of many places.
Food is better than average for a pub; the chicken burrito and chili are favorites. The bartenders know their beer (some are brewers) and will give you a taste of anything on tap if you ask. During the World Cup, they showed all the games and had a $5 breakfast for the morning ones. Best crowd in town!Listed in: My Neighborhood

I was in Nashville for business and went out to lunch with a friend who works in the Belmont area of the city. We were both starving and we were both on a limited time frame, so we needed something close to Belmont to fulfill our every desire (okay... every FOOD desire).
She suggested 12 South Taproom.
Well played, my friend, well played. I enjoyed the Smoked Chicken sandwich ($11) at the suggestion of our helpful and friendly server who admitted to having an addiction... an addiction to PESTO! The sandwich was delightful, the pesto superb, and the bread perfectly toasted. As a side, I had potato wedges which were definitely fresh (not frozen) becacuse it's essential a potato that they cut into 8ths (full length 8ths) and serve to you crisp and covered just right in sea salt. Yum! My compatriot enjoyed the "Buffalo" sandwich ($8) which is a vegetarian sandwich. But David, you typed Buffalo... yes, yes, I did. And by that they mean buffalo mozzarella... It was bread, buffalo mozzarella, basil, and tomato with a little olive oil (I think). She enjoyed it and might I say that the pieces of mozzarella were nicely sized.
I'm pretty sure I'd party down at 12 South Taproom at night too. It had the dive bar feel to it, and from what I could see had a nice robust list of beers on tap.
I'd recommend the joint for lunch for sure, and look to return to party down in the future.Listed in: Walking Distance

My fiance and I were in town for a wedding, and this was our first stop. Great atmosphere and there was live music playing. Everyone working there was very friendly and helpful. They had an amazing beer selection which my fiance enjoyed. We ordered the black bean quesadilla and the Cuban sandwich- both were delicious.

A little organization to the "seat yourself" routine would have been helpful as there was a line and it wasn't clear when you should pounce on a table (after the servers had cleaned it or before the people behind you got fed up and took it themselves). I was psyched to see so many southern beers on tap (420, son!) and the vibe was relaxed. We got the habaque wings that were pretty good, but big enough to be an entree. The smoked chicken sandwich was tasty (even without the cheese) and the sesame asian chicken salad was excellent. We'll be back.

Here for lunch on a Friday and it was not busy, maybe a good thing? The chips and "cheese" dip is probably better with 3 people, it was a bit much for 2. Also, it is not cheese. It has plenty of sodium though.
The sandwich I had, the cuban, was an interpretation as it wasn't grilled nor pressed. It was good though. Everything was balanced well, the pork was well-cooked, and the bread ratio was right, but I ordered it without mayo so take that into consideration.
The grilled veg I got on the side was unfortunate. A mix of mostly mushrooms with some slices of green bell pepper and a few pieces of squash. They all looked much more steamed than grilled. I know that happens even to grilled veg sometimes but I should have gotten something else on the side.
It was not a bad meal, but I wouldn't miss not going back. My guess is that it is more of a bar and the food is to prolong the drinking, but that is only a guess. -

2 stars... sorry. I went there once and liked it enough to go back. However, today insured I won't go again. 2 roast beef sandwiches, 2 sides, 1 tea = $30. Ehhh, I don't think so. I could've made a tastier sandwich at my house. The server described to me as the sandwich as melted, which it wasn't. Then I could barely chew it. Sorry. Mediocre is generous. Adios 12 South.

Great atmosphere and nice draft beer selection. The Soysage Delight sandwich was great. The parking was a little lacking as I had to park on a street close by but other than that it was nice.

I've looked high and low for a pub in Nashville that satisfies a few key requirements: good beer, good people, good food, unassuming, and relaxed/chill. While everybody doesn't have to know my name, I want a place where I feel comfortable and welcome, without having to dress up and put on airs of pretension.
12 South Taproom matches every one of these qualities! It's become my favorite neighborhood pub in Nashville. -

I always forget about this bar/restaurant. Probably because most of the street parking is taken and too many people prefer the neighboring italian resturant that is next door.
It's hip local organic place with cool hatch prints on the wall. Wooden Tables, real cloth napkins. Their menu is diverse from burgers/salads/sandwiches/tacos. The few times ive eaten here i've never gotten something I didn't like.
They only serve Beer and Wine. Yazoo is on tap. Service was great and was checked on frequently. Atmosphere and unique menu items (i got an avocado BLT with spicy) will keep me coming back but can be pricey.
It's loud, I always feel like I'm screaming to have conversation with the person next to me.
Cheers for local business!
