Review from Jason G.
On Seamless, ordered delivery: spinach and goat cheese salad and a large pizza with mushrooms and basil. It was absolutely scrumptious.Good pizza! Not fast food pizza, but also not gourmet pizza. Just solid mid-level pizza. I will keep this place in mind.

Review for dining in (baked ziti + eggplant)
First of all, I still stand by my 4 star review for their pizza.
THIS is for their dining in experience.
I went in around for dinner time during the week and there was no server. The guy that normally works the pizza area had to do the work.
1. Baked Ziti:
AWEFUL! no sauce, no flavor and horrible pasta! Only good thing was the cheese on top. There wasn't even that much ricotta.
2. Eggplant + pasta
Eggplant was actually pretty good. Large portion and plenty of sauce, but it was watery at best and bland.
Pasta in watery tomato sauce and thrown in a bowl to call it ziti.
Also, is it normal for the staff to be sitting at the dining area eating their food while there are customers? WHICH BTW looked better than our food!
Overall experience was poor and I felt bad for the pizza guy who we always got our pizza from. He seem to be manning the entire place by himself.1 Previous Review: Show all »

Review from Emily R.
What's with all the bad reviews? And why is this place listed under 11B "Express?" I think that's the to-go spot next door. This place needs to work on their online presence, because they're not getting justice!
One of the only Italian BYOB spots in the city (they now serve wine and beer, but will let you bring wine as well with no corking fee) 11b is decent food, a fun environment and definitely the most upscale, cozy decor of any rowdy byob I've visited.
The staff is super-friendly and attentive, and I enjoyed most of what we had to eat - bufala mozzarella & tomato salad was fresh & well-portioned. The baked ziti was awesome - cheese overload. The pizza was just ok, not crispy enough and some of the ingredients seemed processed Stick with salads and pasta here, and bring a magnum of white for a good time with friends. They have a super-long party table that I've always seen filled with groups of ~20 for a bday celebration.
Whether you're out with a group of friends OR on a date (and it's hard to be able to accommodate those two occasions equally well,) this is a laid-back but nicer byob option in the East Village. -

This is the best BYOB option in the city. Great food and you can drink whatever you want and as much as you want.
Food:
see pictures here: http://chekmarkeats.co...
-Eggplant Parmigiana
-Create Your Own Pizza: Broccoli, Chicken, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Olives, etc.
-Arugula Salad: Tomatoes, Shaved Parmesan, Balsamic Vinaigrette (add chicken)
Italian owner Vinny literally invites you into his "home" at 11 B. He greets every guest as if they are family and pretends that he remembers you from your last visit...even if it was a year before. The kitchen serves up hearty, red-sauced Italian plates and everything is pretty good. What's better than a $14 tab per person on a Friday night in Manhattan with a rambunctious group of 9? -

No real need to BYOB - they have cheap, quality wine. ($5/glass)
Huge portions, a bread basket and pre-meal salad had me thinking I was back home in Ohio - they don't mess around with measly, artisan Italian food. Hungry for 'grandma's cooking'? This is the real deal. -

Meh. I stumbled in here with a group of friends after having dinner at Fu Sushi. Already totally full and slightly buzzed up from having shared a few bottles of wine, we weren't looking for pizza...but were looking for some reasonably priced red.
11B offers fairly priced bottles of mediocre to below average wine, the bartender is incredibly awkward, and the city permits them to stay open only until 11 pm.
It serves its purpose; it's a decent place to split a bottle or two of wine and not break the bank, but it's definitely not a go-to spot. -

Manhattan, NY
We live 1/2 a block away from here, so it's a pretty good choice when we don't feel like going far or making a decision. Honestly, the food is good, not amazing, but no major complaints. The pizza is way better than any of the pastas or entrees I've tried.
Major plus - it's BYOB! That alone lets you get over the mediocre food... especially if you really just want to drink wine and eat pizza and be 1/2 a block away from home.
Try it if in you're in the area!
Also - they're awesome with groups! Good for a cheap bday party or special occasion when you don't want to make all of your friends spend crazy amts of money -

My go-to place for pizza delivery. Something about the pizza is a little closer to what I grew up on. The pizza isn't too thick and there's enough sauce so you're not just chowing on cheese. Lots of topping options too.

I've only ordered through seemlessweb, so I can't speak about an actual dine-in experience. With that being said, 11BExpress is pretty legit although their name totally sucks and I thought it was some grimy crackhead place until I saw how many stars it had. The chicken caesar salads are the shiz and their paninis are yummy as heck. No complaints coming from this girl!

Pros: (1) Dim, cozy, slightly romantic atmosphere with very reasonably priced food, (2) Pizza-focused menu, but with several pasta and chicken options as well, (3) Some aspects of the service are nice...gave me a little extra wine
A good place to take people visiting NYC because it feels like an upscale local pizza joint that's fun, without being overly expensive.
Cons: (1) Service is a little abrupt and rushed...which is fine if it's efficient, but then we waited forever for our pizza to come out, (2) quite loud...something about the acoustics of the room, I think, (3) pizza itself was just ok -

Awful, wish we'd never stopped by. We were on our way to Esperanto (9th and C) and walked right in front of this place... it looked cute from the outside (nice decor, lots of light) and decided to stop in.
Worst. Decision. Ever.
Pizza was humdrum at best. Crust was medium (not too thick, not too think) and reasonably crunchy. We had half margherita/half pepperoni pizza, tomato sauce was nothing special, cheese could have been better. Nothing great to say about the pizza.
We also had the burger. YUCK. I honestly would have rather gone to McDonalds or Burger King. Bland paddy, super dry (even though I asked for medium rare) with stale and dry fries. I couldn't even make it through a quarter of the burger (and I love burgers)....
Service was pretty lousy, even though there were only 2 tables in the whole place. Servers weren't rude at all, but they weren't there! It was as if the cook were also the server. We were never offered drinks, at all. Water glasses were brought about halfway through the meal, no refills offered.
Pretty mediocre place, would not come back. There are SEVERAL better places around the East Village... no need to stop by here at all! -

My new neighborhood pizza joint for a cheese slice on my way home. Thin crispy crust, good sauce/cheese proportions. For $2.50, I'm sure there's cheaper slices around, but I'm pretty happy with the value so far.

The only reason i gave this 1 star is b/c yelp wont let me submit unless i enter at least 1 star. With that said...this is my first time to Eleven B and me and 2 other friends decided to go because my friend had a $25 gift certificate. During dinner time from 630-8, it was super quiet, no one was there except for one other table. My friend and I got there first and waited for our other friend to join us. During our wait of about 30mins or so, the waiter/bartender/owner/waiter/not sure if he was the cook either but there was just one mid-upper age man working the whole place.
He ask us if we want any drinks since there's so many good wines available there as you can clearly see once u walk in. My friend and I proceeded to say well no we'll wait for our friend first, he left and came back 15mins later and asked again, this time we didn't reply so he gave us the drink menu and said take a look. Mind you, he didn't bring us water or anything, just kept asking us to get wine/drinks.
He came back and asked what we decided and me & my friend decided we will not get drinks, she just wanted a ginger-ale and i just wanted water, so we told him and he grabs the drink menu n puts in our water and ginger-ale order.
Later my friend came, we ordered food and it took like 45mins for the food to arrive and i ordered a simple ziti dish and it had no taste. I had to add salt and pepper and red pepper flakes to enhance the taste and the ziti were bland and soggy. None of us finished the dish and once we done eating, he drops the bill on our table, comes back to check if we paid 15mins later but my friends and I were catching up until he came to checkon us. So that he didn't wait for us, we started whipping out cash, my friend thought it would be a good idea for us to let him know we had a gift certificate so he can adjust the total bill.
We showed him and first he said oh i dont know if the system will take the certificate. So we looked at him blankly then he said, ok in order to use this, u guys have to pay 'in cash' AND a mandatory $12 or up tip! Ummm isn't tipping voluntary? mind u, we only order 3 simple pasta dishes, 1 dish per person, no appetizers, no sides. So we had no choice and was like fine, w/e. He comes back readjusted the bill and said now ok u guys can tip me whatever u want BUT on the bill that were re-adjusted, he deducted the gift certificate amount and already ADDED the $12 tip he demanded so what is the difference?!
All in all, horrible service, food, no wonder it is empty -_- -

I signed up for Yelp just for this restaurant....2 Friends and I decided to make use of a 25 $ gift certificate at this establishment and since I live in the neighborhood, decided to give it a try. It was completely empty around dinner time but the waiter seemed cordial and seated us right away. We ordered a large pizza, two pasta dishes, a bottle of wine, the chicken marsala, and I had a house salad that came with the pasta dish. The only thing we could manage to finish was the bottle of wine. By then, the waiter had left and said one of the cooks would finish us up. After the not-so-good everything, we placed the 25$ gift certificate along with the rest of the bill with a 20% tip based on the original bill without the gift certificate. We had some doggy-bags and were walking down the street when one of the cooks runs after us in a fury and says we can't use the gift certificate and we had stiffed him on the tip. We were confused and walked back with him and got the evil/stink/rolling-eyes from the few patrons that were in the restaurant and went to the back of the KITCHEN to do some calculations. He proceeded to whip his pencil out behind his ear and punch some numbers saying we owed him an extra 4 dollars because he hadn't added tax and tip yet and would have to recalculate the entire bill.....WHAT? It was really simple...we left the 25$ gift certificate (which was a paid gift certificate not a coupon) and added the rest of the bill in cash and paid 20% tip. We were about to pay the measly 4$ when my third friend asked to show us how he had gotten 4 $ and the cook shooed us away and said whatever get out of here.....RUDE. So we walked out and he called after us to take our doggy bags and we told him that it was okay because the food was terrible anyways.
If the food was good, I think the story would've been entirely different but as for the food. All the food was so bland and tasteless, we just couldn't finish it. The chicken marsala was in some congealed excuse of a sauce and tasted like corn starch and salt...The sauteed spinach tasted like fish and was just in a pool of oil; the pizza had no taste, the pasta (rigatoni) tasted like play-doh...it was just terrible...I mean...if you like to eat...don't go there.... never going there ever again. -

Came to Eleven B (not the express station but the regular restaurant) and had a wonderful time. The server was exceptionally friendly and he made good conversation. Ordered a large pizza which took a while but was absolutely superb, the crust was good and the cheese was delish. Also shared a pitcher of sangria that was a perfect addition to our food, I would come back to try more pizza with other toppings as well as have the same sangria.

Had a birthday dinner here a few weeks ago and couldn't be happier with the experience!
We had about 12 people and it was a $35 price fix deal - BYO with NO charge! - and with all the appetizers, a pizza course, and several entrees (all served family style) we had MORE than enough food for everyone. They went above and beyond and we left at least half of every dish they served - we were very satisfied! They also did not care how many bottles of beer or wine we brought in. Very lax!
Also just loved the rustic feel of the decor and ambiance in general. Lively but chill. -

Super casual, super comfortable, BYOB pizza joint. Not many sit-down places serve standard NYC-style pizza, but 11B does. Go for no-frills cheese pizza. Baked ziti is also excellent (massive and super cheesy). They have other italian standards - their chicken parm isn't bad.
Pizza is good, although quality is spotty at times, particularly on delivery.
BYOB policy is a bit odd - they pour your entire bottle of wine into a beer pitcher, so be ready to drink whatever you bring! -

Huntington Station, NY
Me and my brother ended up here because he wanted to try out the meatballs he heard so much about.
I don't know who told him they were good but they are flat out liars.
What strikes me odd about the meatball dish is that the sauce is really good but the meatballs are complete crap.
Weird as it is, it gets worse, the service is atrocious. We waited 20 minutes for a dish that should've taken 10, and the waiter apparently has hearing issues, because we told him what we wanted and yet, he came out 15 minutes later just to confirm that we had in fact ordered the meatballs.
This place is horrible. Stay Away. -

I have lived in NYC for 2 years now and this restaurant is the first one that drove me to sign-up for Yelp and write a review, and it wasnt for a good reason.
This is my 8th trip to 11B. I was a loyal customer. We had a good friend in town who recently moved and this was one of our favorite BYOB spots but we will not be visiting again as a group.
Seeing that I have been there a few times before I know what the prices on the menu are when you go an order your own meal. I have never paid more than $20 for my entire meal there and never more than $40 when I have been on a date. The night started off with me knowing I was going to be forking out $35 for a family style meal with 3 appetizers( mozzarella sticks, arugala salad & fresh mozzarella), and 3 entrees (3 pizzas, 3 plates of chicken parm & 3 plates of baked ziti). After the meal comes we get a bill for over $600!!!!!!!!!! tax and gratuity included for 13 people. I ended up spending $50 for a meal that was OK at best and not even close to great.
After getting home and adding up everything we got on the menu there is no reason I should have spent any where close to $50 and not even close to $35.
I would never recommend this place to anyone for a group meal nor would am I ever going again. Sorry 11B.... You suck -

I ordered a pie from here one night. I wasn't expecting much from this East Village joint, but was pleasantly surprised with the thin crust pizza. The crust was perfect (not rubbery) and held up to toppings and sauce without getting soggy and limp.
I will definitely keep them in mind when I have another late-night hankering for pizza! -

Good service and its BYOB. My friend and I bought a six pack at the deli next door and hopped in for a pie. Pizza with a few beers can really hit the spot late at night. The pizza came out piping HOT!! My drunk careless self ate it anyways. The next morning I realized I burned the inside of my mouth. In hindsight, I should have seen this coming.
Overall though, good place. -

This place is usually solid, but I ordered a pizza tonight and it was terrible; dry, flavorless, and cold. What's worse is that I called the restaurant to complain and the guy on the other end just kept saying "wow" and didn't do anything to try and rectify the situation. Consider this one customer that will not be ordering from 11B again.

So rude! We walked into 11B with a group of 6 and there were at least 3 or 4 tables that I could see were empty. I inquired about seating and before I could finish my sentence the host/waiter who was speaking to us abruptly announced "we are sold out for the night you have to make a reservation" and pretty much chased us out the door. Will not make the mistake trying to give them business again just to be shoved out the door.

I am a tough audience - I think I complain too much - but I have never had a bad experience at 11 B or 11 B Express. Just ordered a personal pizza with a few toppings. They made it fast and they made it well. It was delicious and hit the spot. I couldn't ask for more. Quality ingredients and attention to service.

I don't order pizza a lot. I'm not a fan of regular pizza and when I do decide to order a pie for dinner, it's usually not your typical cheese and sauce. I like that 11B has artichokes as a topping choice. This is pretty much a deal-breaker for me. The toppings can get pretty pricey so I generally order a large with artichokes and broccoli and it feeds me for 3 days.
I also stopped by and dined in the restaurant one day. I had the calzone and told them easy on the ricotta. I don't know if they didn't hear me or blatantly ignored me because the thing was like a ricotta bomb. I only ate about 1/4 of the calzone before I was overdosed on dairy.
My suggestion, get delivery through seamless web and stick to the pizza. I am willing to forget my bad calzone experience because the artichoke and broccoli pizza is so damn tasty! -

This is a review for the EXPRESS 11B, not the restaurant. The restaurant always seems to be crowded so maybe its better over there. But the take out place I would only go to again if it was suuuuper late and NOTHING was open!! Even then I'd go to a the corner bodega instead.
Pros: free delivery and open late (notice nothing food related is a pro)
Cons: the pizza was just yuck. It was edible, but I could've gotten something waaaay better for the price. I could've gone to the super market and gotten one of those pizzas in the freezer section and would have been more satisfied with that.
the slice was a decent size and the price was fine ($2.50per/slice). They had a good choose of extra toppings but DON'T BOTHER! they were generous with the toppings but they weren't fresh and kinda gross so I ended up picking off most of it. -

Cheap food, BYOB, get trashed on the cheap.
Food: Food was average. Got the chicken parm and the grilled portobello mushrooms. Chicken a little dry reminded me of the my college hang out.
Price: very heap, entrees low teens. sandwich burger below 10
Atmosphere: nice atmosphere, candles, open seating. Great for chilling with friends.
Service: very helpful, refilled our wine promptly -

Grabbed a menu when walking by a few weeks ago and decided to try out their delivery last night. Really mediocre.
I had a meatball parm sub and although the bread was good, the meatballs seriously looked and tasted like the tiny frozen ones you can get at Trader Joe's. Very disappointing especially after reading the bit on the menu about how they are an old Ital family that uses their fam recipes, etc. I'm calling BULLSHIT. I typically order Italian delivery from Supper, Frank, or Lil Frankie's but after reading about how they don't pay their employees, I've been looking for an alternative. Also last time I ordered from Frank the prices were all $2+ more on every item then the last time I ordered. Was hoping Eleven B would be a new alternative. Guess not.
The hero was accompanied with a side of undercooked soggy french fries with zero flavor. I put some sea salt on them and baked them in the oven for 10 mins until they were edible. The whole point of delivery and takeout for me is not having to do any work. I was aggro.
After that was all said and done I threw the menu out and spit on it before closing the lid to my garbage can. Never again. -

Seriously from the beginning of our meal to the end - 11B just continued to WOW us. We tried 4 appetizers and 2 entrees and ALL were excellent! The Eggplant Parmagana - was FLAWLESS - you need not add one thing to your meal (ie:salt/pepper/hot peppers). You will leave here feeling like you were in Italy at a family members house.
FYI: should you want to drink - bring your own bottle of wine or beer, they don't have their liquor license. Enjoy!!!!! -

I've only ordered delivery from 11B, but their pies are seriously good. Fresh ingredients, good crust, the works. It's not the best pizza in the east village, that crown goes to The Pizza Shop (http://www.yelp.com/bi...), but it's a close second. If you happen to find yourself on 11th and Avenue B, stop on in.Listed in: When I "B" in my 'hood, How About Some Pizza?

I think I'm the first to review this place, so I'm feeling pretty cool right about now. This establishment sits a mere 5 door from my apartment. The layout is awesome and the place looks great. It always is empty though, the reason being is it's BYOB. Which living so close to it, I don't actually don't mind, because you can save some loot. But I'm sure for the average person just cruising the area that would be a big negative. Now to the food. It's actually pretty good. It's extremely affordable and not bad. I had pizza, which fails in comparison to Gruppo, which is a few door down. I think if you're looking to save some money but want a nice spot to eat, I would recommend this. If you're looking for a great wine list and over the top Italian, I would not.
Also, If you live in the EV they deliver!Listed in: Avenue B.

As one of the few Italian BYOB restaurants in the city, 11b doesn't disappoint. It's quaint and dimly lit, nice for a date or dinner out with the girls. The food is very average Italian, nothing to write home about- but with the no corking fee and decent prices I would say it's worth the commute to alphabet city.

I live around the corner and have tried most the pizza places around the east village and 11b is hands down my favorite.
really not understanding the other reviews here. the pizza is great!
the staff here in 11B Express and the restaurant (typically the owner) are both great.
the restaurant is an excellent place to host an event since its BYOB and there is tons of seating.
dont be mislead by the others this place is spot on for a slice :-) -

I'm not sure why there isn't a separate listing for 11B, because 11B Express is just the takeout place next door, while 11B is the actual sit-down restaurant. I've never gotten the takeout, so I can only review 11B the restaurant!
I love this place, and have had a great experience every time I've been there. It's so low-key and casual, and it's even BYOB! The owner (I think he's the owner) is the only waiter, and he's such a cool guy. The food is also good, but the great experience is what I go for. The prices are also so great - just had dinner there and it only ended up costing $48 for the four of us, including tax and tip. -

This review is for the restaurant, not the Express takeout.
Stopped here randomly one weeknight with my wife. It was empty and looked clean, cozy, intimate inside.
No beer and wine license. Strike 1 for a place with such a great location and atmosphere.
Waited 30 minutes for 2 paninis, no exaggeration. Strike 2.
Did I mention we were the only people in the place? Maybe that is why. Maybe there were no ingredients prepped because they expected it to be empty. That is the only way I can understand that 2 mediocre paninis which essentially take 5 minutes on the grill took 30 minutes in an empty restaurant. -
Review from Jaime H.
This place was a miracle find on a late Friday night! I went with a group of girls to two other BYOB pizza places in East Village and the first was closed, the second had a 45 minute wait and $20 charge for BYOB! Then I ventured to Eleven B and was greated by immediate seating, NO CHARGE for BYOB and excellent and affordable menu options. This was such a homey spot too with very attentive service (they even chilled and served us our cheap wine!) Compared to most other BYOB places I've been, this one blew the others out of the water.
