Have lived in the area for 11 years, off and on. They still have a lot of classics like Coconut Shrimp, but you have to special order them. It's a relatively inexpensive place to eat, especially the appetizer menu. The Nachos are a great deal and very delicious, and the sushi is a steal (and good quality) considering prices in Manhattan.

Five tables in the restaurant were full. When I came in I told the waiter I didn't need a menu, that I knew what I wanted. Almost 15 minutes went by and he never came back to my table. Last straw was when he went to take some other table's order who came in five minutes after me. Lesson Learned: If you are 7 months pregnant and hungry, just go to Vicky's Diner next door instead. Better service, cheaper, and food just as good.

Visited this spot Friday night with some friends and it was great, the food was awesome and the drinks we decent. Had the chicken quesadilla and the Burger and they were great. The staff was friendly and the entire ambiance was cool. I will return and have a seat on the "bar/lounge" side it looked a little cooler lol. Definitely give this place a try, cute low key spot.

their nachos are to die for!!! enough said, no but seriously almost everything on the menu is great i have had some dishes here that were nothing special but never bad... The staff is as friendly and welcoming as it gets... However, they recently merged with the restaurant next door and now the menu has changed. The food is still good and same great staff but i prefer the old 107...However, considering that every other restaurant in this neighborhood is gross (they all are beautiful places with disgusting food) 107 is the only choice anyway
Now get off of yelp and go and get those nachos!!! -

Another date, another vegetarian. I swear, I don't know why it keeps working out that way, but I'll be damned if that tofu fry I took off his plate wasn't a bit of deep fried heaven dipped in mayonnaise.
I was nervous, but luckily, 107 West is not a vegetarian restaurant. Unluckily, it doesn't seem to know WHAT it is. The "entrees" were mostly Cajun, but there was lasagna and stuff on the left and a whole section of "Tortilla Rolls," which prompted the question, "Doesn't that just mean burrito?"
Nonetheless, the meal was a good one. Mayonnaise is one of my favorite foods, and the crab cakes came with a whole huge puddle of herb mayonnaise, which disappeared before the crab cakes did. Also, I had a pretty quality jambalaya filled with seafood and (for some reason) corned beef. It provided many opportunities to torment my date with "You know, it wasn't too long ago that this clam had a life... and dreams. And now it's dead and humiliated in my bowl, probably watching me ruthlessly devour its body from clam heaven." It was a test to see if he was one of THOSE vegetarians, and luckily he's not.
Incidentally, the jambalaya was enormous and served in this metal bowl I burned my hand on because I'm stupid. I couldn't even finish the whole thing, though that may be because of the greasy pepperoni pizza I ate at 4:00 in the afternoon.
Worth noting about 107 West is this oppressive drabness to the place. The decor is... not fitting to the menu. It looks almost like an old people restaurant. Not so cool. Also, if you see the blonde waiter, tell him to shave. -

My partner and I decided to check out this neighborhood for a possible move. It's wayyyy north of where we are now, and as far as I was concerned, no man's land.
I was happy to find a nice little restaurant here on this block that served some tasty food along with some laid back staff with good service. Knowing your potential 'hood has places like this definitely boosts its profile.
The cuisine is a mix of Tex/Mex, with a little Cajun thrown in. Lots of wine choices and cocktails too.
The decor is lacking slightly, but I guess you can't expect everything all they way up here in Washington Heights.Listed in: In the Heights

I absolutely love this place. I think it's the best food in Washington Heights. I've never eaten in the restaurant - I order out very frequently when I get home from work, am exhausted and just want a good meal. Everything I've ordered is delicious. I'm partial to the chicken, avocado and mango salad (w. raspberry dressing) during the summer months - it's also excellent. I've also had the tuna burger, BBQ pork chops, and crab cakes which were all very, very good.
The other night I tried the appetizer special: clams in a marinara sauce - yum! Very good. Also - the rhubarb pie with a crumble crust was absolutely tart in the right places and totally delicious.
Obviously - I highly recommend. -

After my friend and I explored Fort Tyron Park and the Cloisters, we took a walk around the neighborhood and stumbled upon this place since we were both starrrving. Place is simple and comfortable on the inside, my friend and I got a table right next to the window, since it was a beautiful sunny day.
We split the tofu fries, which were made just right. My friend is a big vegan burger fan, so she tried out 107's vegan burger and thought it was pretty good. I tried the jambalaya (for the first time in my life) and loved it. It's a definite mish-mash of seafood, meat, rice and veggies. It also had a little kick to to it, which I liked as well. The only thing was the bread rolls they gave us were a bit on the stale side. My friend got a kick outta me gnawing away on one of them for about 5 minutes haha. -

Great spot for a local dinner for Washington Heights. Good food for both the carnivore and the herbivores among us. Decent wine list, fair prices, friendly staff and laid back vibe. Definitely a go to spot.
Update: their Albequerque (sp?) melt for brunch is possibly the best hangover cure I've come across in a long while. -

Ate here for the first time in '06, when we were thinking of moving to the area. Our waitress was friendly & a good sport while we proceeded to completely grill her about the 'hood. We had brunch that day & were pleased w/ how tasty the food was, how comfortable the atmosphere was, how reasonable the prices were (though not dirt-cheap) & how pleasant the meal was overall.
We've been WaHi residents for 3 years now & we still love 107 West! It's regularly a part of our delivery & dining-in rotations. Have tried most of the things on the menu & most are pretty great. My faves include the rigatoni w/ chicken & capers, the tomato/corn chowder & the assorted salads (mango & chicken, mmm)... the hubby veers towards the meat entrees (pork chops, etc). And all the brunch choices are delicious.
I think it's a relaxing place to eat at, particularly for brunch - it gets a lot of light, it's clean, I like the gleaming light wood... some people have called it bland but I don't know, compared to the admittedly-cool-yet-dimly-lit (& not-as-extensive menu) of Bleu across the street, or the hustle to get a table at the old standby diner Vicky's, or the slow service at Emilous/Jesse's, 107 West is like a breath of fresh air.
It's not uber-gourmet, it's not way inexpensive, but it's a solid & yummy choice in the neighborhood. When the parents come in town, this is among the 1st places we pick for brunch...before we walk 'em down the street to wow them w/ that beautiful Hudson River view. :) -

god the fried chicken here is amaze-balls. i also love the tilapia entree. i order dinner from this restaurant about once a week. they deliver it to me, i eat, i feel happy.
also, they have a really good mocha mud pie dessert thingie that is sinfully good as well as bread pudding that makes me groan inappropriately while i eat it.
this is the only restaurant i order from in my hood. i hope it never goes away.
p.s. i wish they would include plasticware in the delivery bag..and i always forget to ask. that is my ONLY issue with them. -

For the average choices we have here in WaHi, this has made into our delivery rotation and isn't all that bad. The food is alright, nothing to write home about but nothing awful either.
I've had the steak burrito and sometimes it's good and other times it's dripping in oil. The flavor is always consistently good, though. I gave up on the steak quesadilla because although tasty, it too is always drenched in oil. Hmmm, the coconut shrimp are pretty tasty but sometimes they're a little on the dry side. The dipping sauce is really nice so I still order it on occasion. The southern fried chicken and the buffalo wings are actually pretty good. The wings never seem like they have enough buffalo sauce but I think it might be baked in instead of poured on top which makes for a spicy taste without the mess. Not bad at all.
I agree with another yelper in that the mini cornbread always tastes stale and really isn't sweet enough for my taste. Overall it's an acceptable choice for the area. They just need to put a little more care into their cooking and it would get 4 stars. -

So the food is decent, nothing award-winning, but you also aren't paying those prices. I had the grilled chicken, jicama and avocado wrap (its an appetizer) which was pretty good (and only $6!). I added some hot sauce to it to give it a little more flavor and, well, I love hot sauce on just about anything.
The decor is well....interesting?
But if you are looking for a place to eat in the neighborhood its definitely decent food at a fair price. I won't get crazy and say I love the place, but I've been a few times and have no problem with it. -

I've lived in the in this neighborhood for close to eight years and this place has been consistent throughout that time; never truly amazing, but we have never gotten anything bad from here.
i am a vegetarian, and their vegetarian selection is a bit lacking, but they do have some tasty options. I have known other vegetarians who just love the linguine with tofu, but honestly I dont get why. i like the tomato, pepper mozzarella penne, the nachos and bread pudding.
it is a bit expensive, but i understand they have to be as this neighbourhood just does not have the volume of diners to sustain a high volume, good quality cheap place. -

I've been here for brunch and dinner and ordered takeout, and my experiences have almost always been positive. I prefer it most for brunch, though: they have a prix-fixe menu with a number of options that are all tasty. I recommend the waffles or pancakes or one of the many egg dishes on the menu. The complimentary muffins they put out on the tables are usually soft, warm, and amazing. Prices are decent, especially for the neighborhood. All in all, a solid WaHi restaurant choice. I'd go more often, if it didn't mean walking up that giant bitch of a staircase!

Very interesting menu - pasta, burritos, snacky foods, salads - everything we had was very good! The space is small but very bright during the day and cheerful. Only four stars due to the obnoxious bartender who had a braying laugh like a jackass. Thankfully, her shift ended about 20 minutes into our lunch and a very nice person took over.

Had Lunch at this place after visiting the cloisters.
The decor has nothing much to rave about, but the place looked new and renovated. Tried the sweet potato ravioli and fortunately it was not too sweet and blended well with the white wine sauce.
Poor vegetarian selections (standard veggie burger made of plastic, salad etc.). I dont think I will come here again, but thats because I dont frequent this area and I am a vegetarian. the only think that makes me give a 3 star rating is that the food was not bad. -

A running theme of my recent reviews is my bemoaning the state of dining out in Washington Heights. Unfortunately 107 continues the trend, another drop of mediocrity with average dishes. I will say that the area around 107 is quite nice, and could be a laid-back date area. The interior of 107 is dimly (romantically?) lit, and decor is airy, clean and simple. Service was good as well, with the waiter being surprisingly friendly for an end-of-the-night meal. The dishes were unimaginatively prepared, with the same mashed potatoes with the same sauce adorning almost everyone's main course. My dinner companions and I were very underwhelmed by 107, but maybe I'll give it another shot in the future if I hear new things from Yelpers.

This was the first place my hubby and I went when we were checking out the neighborhood. Really good fried chicken and BBQ ribs I. The place is cozy, with friendly waitstaff and a nice bar in the back if you just want to hang. It is pretty overpriced though. And to Marina L who thinks thinks this is no-man's land: don't knock it till you try it!!

Consistently good food, and good service overall. The decor could use a little work, but other than that, it's always a good choice in the neighborhood.

I agree with Michael C. about the tendency to complain about the restaurant options in Washington Heights...so alas, WH needs 107 West. I mean, the pickins are slim. I actually order delivery from 107 W. about once a month or so. It's a little pricey for what it is, the quality of the food, etc., but otherwise I wouldn't characterize it as 'expensive.' The quality is not at all bad, btw, just not necessarily reflective of some of the prices.
Agreeing with Jennifer M. I very much like the chicken, avocado, & mango salad. I think that's my favorite thing there. I also very much like the shrimp and sweet potato quesadilla, but I never eat the red beans & rice, which are bland. Good guac. The black bean crab cake appetizer is pretty tasty. I also like the chicken tortilla roll.
One thing I will say is that the menu is eclectic enough to appeal to people with different tastes - veggie options, 'healthy' (or healthIER) options, burgers, salads, Tex-Mex, pasta, seafood, etc.
I agree the decor is nothing to write home about. Good service, speedy delivery.
There actually are a couple WH restaurants I like better including Kismat (right around the corner from 107 West on Fort Washington) and Jesse's Place on Pinehurst & 181st. I'm about to leave reviews for those. -

I haven't actually been inside of the place, though passed it by a few times, so can't really judge decor or ambiance. We have ordered delivery from there a few times though. Chicken mango avocado salad and steak burrito both were excellent, steak quesadilla was rather too oily, though steak itself was quite good (same as in burrito). Ceasar salad was very far from what ceasar salad should actually be (meaning it had peppers, no croutons, and dressing that can't exactly be called caesar), not bad, but not caesar salad you'd expect. Buffalo wings appetizer was very good. Overall, I'd say the quality of food is quite good for the area, but some dishes are far too greasy.

This isn't bad at all, and unlike a lot of restaurants in this nabe it's not overpriced (why oh why can't we have more places in between hood joints and $26/entrees wanna-be-swank??). But I don't love it. The veggie options are okay, but not fabulous. It's a decent place, but if I were in an area with more restaurants, I wouldn't be swooning. The chopped salad is great, however.

I wasn't too impressed. Maybe I f-d up having a steak. I'm a Peter Luger/Bobby Van's type of guy. But wow it was pretty bad..........
I'll admit I'm not the biggest fan of typical "Gringo" food, and this place only confirmed that even more. Almost zero spice, extremely bland........and even the servers were homely/bland.
I would expect at least a little bit more flair. Ugh. Never going there again. Also you have to be concerned when a place serves nachos, pasta, steak and asian type spring rolls.
They should just rename this place TGI Fridays and port it over to Jersey. -

OKAY... It is rare that I will actually take the time/trouble to review a restaurant. BUT I am compelled only in the hopes that the purveyors of this establishment read their reviews.
Firstly, I have to say, that over all, the food is VERY GOOD. At a slightly lower price point, I would even say EXCELLENT.
Mostly, I order delivery and there are a few (little) things that they constantly do, that I find to be extremely irksome:
a. their home baked cornbread muffins are ALWAYS stale (I think I once had one straight out of the oven and it was heavenly - but never since)
b. They NEVER give you napkins (or utensils) with the order. The sister restaurant Next Door does the same thing and it's just lousy service if you ask me.
c. there always seems to be ONE thing in the order that is not quite right. Last night, for example, the chicken/shrimp gumbo was seriously lacking in both shrimp and chicken (literally, one piece of each) - AND was not served with rice. Now, to their credit - they did offer to send a new order or credit me for the amount of the soup - BUT - as a repeat customer... I'd just like for you to get it right the first time! At least some of the times (and I mean better than 50% would be a vast improvement).
So, as someone who spent the better half of his youth working in the service industry, I am simply urging you to step up your game and at least earn the prices you are charging for your food. -

I came here with a big group for dinner, and all were impressed with the friendly waiter and delish food. I had crab cakes that were yummy, and my boyfriend had the pork chops, which were hearty and delicious. A good amount of variety, and prices are reasonable. There is a decent sized bar area with a tv, and the atmosphere is casual and pleasant.

Southern fried chicken is the only good dish here - it's expertly battered and fried. A very good value at $12. Tastes like what a good home chef would make, no so restauranty rich but competent and simple, and you don't have to wash any pots or dishes. Everything else I tried has been terrible. Chicken wings are unbattered, unflavored, unmarinated - they were huge but had no taste. The specials I have tried a few times, and they were not special. I think the restaurant suffers from low turnover of ingredients bc of low number of customers. Just try the southern fried chicken however. Yes, for WaHi not so bad - we did not move here for the restaurants.
