How come the address is 1104 but the name is 1048? Weird. You know what's just as weird? The hair straightener that you can use in the bathroom...$2 for 2 minutes or $5 for 5. I guess this is where I'm going next time I forget to straighten my hair!
The inside is kinda smokey and dark- they had the first annual Derby fundraiser today so the horse races were playing on the rented TV inside. I was happier outside with live music, blue skies, sun rays shining through the green leaves on the trees and slight summer breeze. Lovely. Beers were cold and bottles went for $4. Margarita was nothing to rave about but I liked how they served it in a glass cup rather than the mixed drinks that were in little styrofoam cups. Had a great overall experience and I will be back for more live music. We stayed until the band had to leave.Listed in: Hanging out in Montgomery AL

This is the way a bar was meant to be... good live music (I struck up a conversation with a musician who I later learned played with the Temptations years ago), inexpensive booze, and interesting people. I hope to make it back soon, and next time I'll try to be in Montgomery on a Sunday night so I can listen to some great blues music too.

This is a great little 'Hole in the wall' spot for live music and drinks. One of my favorites is the Autism Crawfish Boil they help sponsor every year. Its a great time, raises money for a great cause, and its great to see a local spot participate in this kind of thing.
Visit http://www.autismmudbu... to find out when its held. Visit 1048 every Friday for great bands and great beer. -

Great Live music! If you get a chance to see and hear Ziggy and the Zigtones - GO! Great southern rock. The guitarist use to play with Molly Hatchet and is totally 'on fire' when he plays, and both the drummer and bassist are excellent. This band rocks the place!

Came here on a Sunday evening , there is jazz every Sunday and the music was fantastic!!!! People who hang out here seemed really cool and friendly crowd.. This is a kind of gritty bar, but the drinks are strong and bartender was friendly... At least for the jazz night, many people showed up very well dressed, although there were also people in t-shirts and jeans so I did not feel out of place, given that was how I was dressed.. In the Cloverdale area which apparently has other nightlife options and many restaurants, although on a Sunday not so much seemed to be going on anywhere in Montgomery, so this place is a great choice for a Sunday evening.. My one complaint was that the band took a ridiculously long break... I showed up around 11:30 and paid the $5 cover to learn that they had just gone on break.. They did not start playing music again for 45 minutes!! But that was just this particular band on this particular night.. and anyways the music was wonderful and I got to talk to some very interesting people over some nice cocktails while waiting for the musicians to go back to work..

This is where I used to hang out when I was underage and in high school. Used to belong to two cops that would serve me every night. They had no idea I was underage, I just somehow got away with it. Well, it's moved a few doors down from 1048 and has a new owner. Bartender chick Bo was pretty cool. Music was pretty good Grateful Dead and Phish covers, but much too loud. The band would have sounded much better if they were just quieter. Had fun and will go back again in another 15 years.
