1015 Folsom was among the first clubs I ever attended in SF. I still hold an unbelievable amount of fond memories for this place. Though it's gone through some changes and I don't go nearly as much as I used to, I still see the ghosts of the old rave culture in the main room and can still sense the glory days of breakbeat downstairs.
Thank you for existing 1015! It may sound crazy now, but, you are what made alot of us move to SF in the first place.
World Class Night Club!
bit of heaven on earth - The Main Room.
Many thanks to the greatly improved security team with difficult tasks of monitoring diverse clienteles and to provide safety and enjoyment for all patrons.
For those of you that bashing "the crowd" based on races, ages, and stereotypes please don't come to this paradise; it's obvious that you don't belong.
Went here for stoneface & terminal. The place is pretty nice, different from other venue/clubs. When you first walk in, it's the hip hop room, downstairs was closed (coat check) for that night i guess. Upstairs was house music. There's a separate door in the back of the hip hop room to the main room (trance). the main room is pretty legit, has a rave (mini) feeling to it. I had an awesome night, stoneface & terminal torn it up.
Overall I would say 1015 folsom is worth going to since it's free (if you sign up for guestlist, on their site), no dress code, and runs till 7am..
I've been here a few times and always had a great time. One of the most memorable times is when I saw Paul Van Dyk play there. This place manages to get good artists to dj. 1015 is surprisingly big and has several rooms with different music. If you want to smoke they have a smoking room upstairs which my friends utilized.
If you like techno and trance then definitely check this place out.
Awesome place to check out some great DJ's in SF! I've seen James Zabiela, Adam Freeland and tons of others here...can't wait 'til New Year's Eve for Above & Beyond!
Dear 1015 Folsom...if you publish the following on your website: "1015 Folsom welcomes Filo & Peri on Saturday, September 5th in San Francisco. Sign up to be on the FREE guest list when your arrive b4 11:00pm." (http://1015.com/events... ...while it is still up), then when you get to the door at 10:40PM, the bouncer tells you that the guest list closes at 10:30PM, well...I think most people would call that a complete lie. Even better - I show the door woman their website where it said the above information, and she still wouldn't honor it. Apparently this club is run by someone who didn't have a mommy that told them it was bad to lie to people.
Yeah, lots of people begged and pleaded to the big scary bouncer to let them in, but I gave him the finger (literally), and realized that there are at least 50 other better places in the neighborhood that are more than willing to let me spend $50 drinking their booze. 1015 Folsom appears to be going with the "lie to everyone so no one spends money here" business model...good luck with that.
Just around the corner is DNA lounge (http://www.yelp.com/bi...) which always has something great going on, and the owners don't lie to you about when the guest list closes. Just go there instead.
Yes. Go. Good.
For everyone here that gave this club a 2 star or below, you juust do not know how 2 party!!!
So get it straight, put your party pants on next time you go out!
I had a great time here. Great DJs and awesome music in the main room.
Minus:
What is up with the 40 and 50 year old couples getting jiggy with it? Not only were they humping on each other, they were totally wasted. I felt extremely uncomfortable dancing in the same area as them - I felt like my mom and pops were watching me or something! As such, I danced a little bit more conservatively yesterday.
Pluses:
Great music - especially if they have a great act. I saw Ronski Speed here yesterday and he really had the crowd going. I heart German DJs.
The staff from the bouncers to the bartenders to the janitorial people are really nice.
If 1015 keeps this up, I have a feeling I will probably be one of those 50 year old women [in the future!] getting jiggy with it.
OOOttzzz on.
I've been coming here lately to get my *untzz untzz untzz* fix.
I have to say, I was quite unprepared for the numerous asian "uncles" and "aunties" and a few "grandmas" and "grandpas" all over the dance floor dancing erratically. Though they may be all over the place, or doing the 'washing machine' dance, I hear they won't bother you.
Anyways. 1015 is pretty huge. There is the room when you walk in, the one downstairs (never been), the room upstairs, and the main room in the back. I mostly stick to the main room where the headliners are at.
1015's sound system is good. Good as in very good and you can still have a decent conversation, not just turned up extremely-loud-bad-bass-hurt-your-eardrums-WHAT-DI D-YOU-SAY?!?-loud like at Ruby Skye.
The DJ booth is also right up front and you can like hi-5 the DJ. Just don't go overboard and all crazy because they will bring up the plastic screen wall to protect the DJ *cough*stupiddrunkenpeopleatbobinaanddjfeel'sgig*c ough*.
The drinks are hit and miss. If you want a stiff drink, go to Tim on the very left of the bar in the main back room. Give him a nice tip and you will be set for the night. If you really wanna get trashed, ask him for the special Tim's Punch. CASH BAR ONLY. There are ATMs, but fee is like $4 or something.
Some yelpers said there was a photobooth here. We didn't find it the first time, but I found it the subsequent times. Maybe it only comes out on certain nights?
Oh yeah ... when the fog machine goes off, it smells like baby powder ... hmmm .....
Ladies, use the restroom upstairs- less of a line. 3 stalls really isn't enough =\
The major concern I have about a night out here is the bums/crackheads/whatever that pester me on the way back to the car.
Superb sound system, great talent, but cash only bar and partially sketch neighborhood. 4 stars
OMG, I've never seen so many old Asian people in a club! Old as in like, my parents' age. *cringe*
I was suffering from post-trip depression, so I came here with Xtina in an attempt to relive the fun times I had in Ibiza. Note that I really know nothing about trance/house/electronic music, so any club pumping out those beats would've made me happy. I danced all night and had my fun, but ultimately, random cute DJs (Tritonal) spinning at 1015 cannot compare to Tiesto at Privilege.
We were on the guest list, so hooray for no cover. We got there hella early too, so hooray for no line.
Unfortunately, they only take cash, but there are ATMs located right by each bar. The drinks are moderately priced, I believe, at $6 for a kamikaze shot. I don't know, I think after paying 17 euros for a vodka redbull in Spain has skewed my perception of drink pricing.
What I liked about this club is that there are 3 different levels, so you can have some variety :D Another bonus is there's plenty of seating around so that you can rest your tired feet.....which could possibly lead to some drunken straddling and making out with an acquaintance you met up with, because well...no one else there is attractive enough to touch. Yep.
A great place for one of the best NYEs ever (cuz most of them are overrated and hyped up anyway). Keepin it local, keepin it electro.
Came here last NYE for Diplo, and it rocked my face off. It's true, cash bar, some oldies (but not goodies) hanging around, and a shady part of town where you never know if your car is going to get broken into or towed.
Well worth it though. Have been hearing about the "glory days" of this place, before the renovations etc...but it still seems pretty good to me. Am awaiting my next trip back home to the yay so I can get a little hyphy-trance mashed up in here!
I love this place. They have 3 separate dance floors.
PROS: Nice dance scene, love their drinks, saw IIO and PVD here, I kinda love the grungy feel that this place has, they have one room that's darker than the others - that's the best. Makes me wanna do illegal things. Lol.
CONS: Cover charge could be lower man. Don't wanna break my wallet just to have fun. Parking is a challenge.
OVERALL: I used to, still, and will keep on going here. Until they go out of business. Good times.
1015 ROXXX!
Absolutely the most well designed club in The City! The main floor is pure madness on good nights (it was mayhem during Benga and Rusko), while the other rooms offer something else if you get tired of the scenery. The only issue I have with the club is that they don't use all the rooms they have. C'mon! Make it EPIC! Other than that, awesome club!
I don't have much to share on this place except I just never want to go. It's a vague feeling which is a bad sign for any business. It seems like I see one good DJ here vs each five at Ruby Skye, and I'm not exactly a fan of Ruby Skye either. The plus is the venue itself, large with multiple bars and rooms with different music, but if the music's not drawing you in then 3 rooms of it isn't any better than one.
Big on 21 year olds, you know, fresh out on the club scene thinking the biggest is the best. The talent that is notable is geared to the party crowd which is nice, like this weekend they've got LMFAO, but the problem is I just don't feel like partying at 1015. I'd pass for just about any other club even if it was much smaller just because the vibe just ain't right.
Out of the maybe 6 times I've been there I think I recall not leaving early or not wanting to leave maybe once. Pretty sure I won't be back unless tied and dragged or unless there's an overhaul on the talent. Part of the wanting to go to a club is just a general feeling of "woohoo, here's the party", and I just never feel the party gods luring me to 1015.
Oots Oots Oots Oots.... wait have i mentioned Utz Utz Utz Utz Utz
the remix! Oots Oots Oots Oots Utz Utz Utz
I don't get why this has such bad ratings! I came here last night with the housemate, Ismael, who is also a resident DJ at 1015.
Here are the pros. VERY spacious even when there's tons of people grooving. The AC gets blasted so that I never worried about sweating so hard that my makeup runs (I am a high energy dancer so this happens frequently). The bass is so intense that I thought my internal organs were going to be bruised. Nice bartender who makes good stiff drinks. Open until the wee hours of the morning.
I took away one star for two itsy bitsy reasons though. I realize that drinks are over and done with at 2 am, but a guy was shining a flashlight in my face telling me that I have to chug my 'adios motherfucker' in front of him. That wasn't really cool, especially if you know how hard it is to chug a drink of that potency. The second reason? I panicked when I went to retrieve my wallet from coat check at closing time only to find that the lights were off and nobody was around. Someone told me that I had to go back upstairs and have them hand it off to me... what?
Apart from that though, I had an amazing time and will definitely come back again!
I don't understand why this club gets such low ratings. I've gone to sooooo many venues in SF and all of them are SO TINY. 1015 is a decent size.
I don't know how much drinks were since I got hooked up with drink tickets (yay!) but my pours were strong from the bartender.
It's probably more of a regional thing but man oh man, I never saw so many people rollin' (or shall I say thizzin'?) in the Hip Hop room. There's 4 rooms total and the main room I was in was the bottom Trance room next to the hip hop room. It's nice because there's a large stage you can dance on to over look the crowd. One thing I did like was they flash on the visual screens when last call is unlike in LA, if you don't notice the time yourself, you'll miss out on the drinks.
Security and staff seem pretty laid back. A 25+ older crowd (and some old Asian uncles and aunties getting their roll on) but overall I liked it.
The party went till 10AM (later than any club in LA), so extra bonus if you want to party hard.
Been to 1015 many times over the years. There was a while there I really detested going. I went last Saturday to go see Sean Tyas spin. Got in free by midnight on the MetroWize guest list. So no cover helps.
I haven't had the greatest experience in the past 6 visits over the last 2 years, sand the last time Sean Tyas played. I feel as though the militaristic security staff has gotten a little less "harassing." I don't feel like I'm getting felt up half as much upon entering. As well, while inside, they don't make me feel like a drug dealer, giving me that "What are you doing?" stare every 10 minutes, like I used to get.
Now if they can get back into the business of booking more quality acts, we'd be in business. Honestly I hate going to Ruby Sky, I really do. But they have been booking more acts I want to see. So hopefully, I'll be back here soon to see some good quality acts soon!
eat a dick, 1015
i cant smoke weed? no reentry? xxxxpensive ass drinks?
dont fux wit 1015. go cop that Only Built 4 Cuban Linx pt. 2 instead.
You meet a Spanish and Peruvian girl and at 2am they say: 2am! The party is just getting started.
What do you do?
1) You hop in a cab like everyone else and go get some sleep.
2) You head to Denny's / Mel's / Chinatown for your usual 2am 4th meal.
3) You head to 1015 Folsom.
Granted, 1015 is not my first choice in venues. After 2am however I believe the options are 1015 Folsom and the Endup and we were much closer to 1015.
There is a pretty big line at 230am to get in and we discover that it's $20 to get in.
It's a good space with 3 large rooms: rap, techno and house. There is no alcohol served after 2am in case you were wondering.
This place stays open till like the sun comes up! Awesome! Perfect for all them Raving Peeps there! They have 4 rooms, but usually only open 3 of them. The Room downstairs is pretty much reserved for parties only. There is a Hip Hop room when u first walk in with a full bar. Then in the back they play pretty cool Rave music when u wanna just dance to it! Lastly they play House and other music upstairs! My friends and I got here at like 2 or 230 and stayed till 3:30 or so! What a crazy night!
I've been here quite a few times and I see the same people here usually! It's a cool little spot! It helps that we got into Temple and here for free because my friend knew the bouncers at both places! We did have to pay at Infusion though.
We didn't order drinks since it was after 2 AM. It was a good time for us to sober up a little bit and dance off the alcohol. I have to admit there were some pretty freaky ladies at this club! One grabbed my tie and was all over me! Fun times! Crazy girls!
Is this 1015 Folsom the club or the prison? Getting patted down AND scanned before walking through the door is an awesome way to set the tone for a "fun" night out at the club. As are the five big bouncer dudes who look like the secret service, have an over-inflated sense of importance and like to stare down harmless club goers. It's especially silly because this is not a thuggy kind of club, the clientele was a bunch of normal looking dudes and skinny girls in short dresses. THEN being told you aren't on the "guest list" (that everyone is on) because the list holder can't be bothered to read through 20 pages of names, is fun too! Paying for overpriced drinks in thimble sized cups? Yeay. This is all topped off with being forced to stay in (if you don't want to pay the $20 cover charge to get back in) because there are no ins and outs. Way to run a club! Woo hoo!
Minimum Age: 21+
Cost: $20, Email rsvp@1015.com for no cover before 12, Guestlist@NorCalNights... for no cover before 11, or sign up here http://www.metrowize.c....
Dress Code: None.
Date Attended: 4/17/09, Friday
Came here at the suggestion of a friend. Music played was electro house in the entrance room, house in the upstairs room, and drums and bass in the stage room. It's a mellow spot that is supposed to be open from 10 - 7 am. They have a coat check and seats if you need to sit down. The music could've been better, but depends on the night that you go. On this particular night with the music that was being played, I didn't enjoy it too much. Would like to go again to check out different dj's here. Upstairs was practically empty. The drums and bass room was packed. The entrance room had a moderate amount of people here. Great place to go and chill.
Pros: Coat check. Chill spot.
Cons: The music wasn't the greatest on this night.
It's been a while since I've been to 1015. My 30-ish year old butt now needs 2 weeks advance notice to prepare for an evening out. Will make sure to add to my otherwise dusty and empty agenda as I just learned that they have changed the decor and atmosphere.
Anyway, I used to go here a lot to check out the likes of the big name DJs like Paul van Dyk. UGH. Crowded and full of high candy ravers. Nothing against getting high but Ecstasy consumers tend to get a bit annoying and all. Ha ha.
Anyway I did enjoy the several rooms playing different types of music if anything to get a break from the ponki-ponki for a while. Bartenders were solicitous meaning I never had to make fire signals to get their attention. Also, they don't have a dress code, so it was fun to come down in my shorts and sneakers. People who just want to dance and are not into hooking up can appreciate this.
Go forth and have fun!
This bar is flooded with Asians. It's the perfect bar for those who have the yellow fever, but not so perfect for the Asians who don't like Asian scenes. So if you have a dislike for lines, cover charges and the club scene, I suggest veering right past 1015 and going to a dive bar instead.
I'd like to come here again before the 2am booze cutoff. We weren't anywhere NEAR a good buzz when we got there. The bloke in front did let us in for half price, which was awesome... but upon getting in and discovering that they only played "because-i-got-high" music, and that we had regular people clothes on, I quickly decided that I didn't fit in. Which was TOTALLY weird because 2 different shims "recognized" me as a regular. WTF?
We still stayed until 5am though... I don't know...
How did I find myself in here???
was walking and ran into a girl that i met singing karaoke a week or so ago.. She said come with us, and so I went with her and this Serbian guy named Boban.. There was a huge line, but Boban was vip or something so we didn't haveta wait and we got in free... This place was crazy.. Theres like 3 dance floors and there was a live reggae singer... Boom Boom Boom, baba Boom boom boom... It was cool at first but then I got bored and they stopped selling drinks, so I left around 4... If I was into ecstasy, i might have enjoyed it more... but ya, it was ok, if your into clubs ..
I apologize to anyone who hasn't had a good time here..
I still don't ever pay to come to 1015 and the drinks are still expensive, but they always have good acts here if you're into Trance. Never had a rude bouncer either.
Hard to rate something down when every time you have come it has been really fun, right? It's still my favorite place to go on a Saturday night!

yeah fun dance place. Cant think of anything negative to say.
Good music and nice dance floor.
I spent New Years here a few years back. It was the best New Years party I had ever been to.
Open bar, scantily dressed performers doing acrobatics hanging from the ceiling to techno music.
I met other people in line and we hung out the whole night. I think it was open from 8 pm - 8 am in the morning, though I left earlier as I had to catch a flight. I was in a good mood on that flight home!
The only thing I didn't like was that it allowed smoking. Not sure if things have changed. Certain areas allowed smoking and others didn't. You had to walk through the smoking part to get to other parts of the club.
Long known for its old school "RAVESK" parties from the a few years back 10:15 Folsom used to host some of the best world renowned and up and coming DJ's but in the recent years I have not heard to much but that once and awhile a friend will stop by here. One nice touch to 10:15 is they finally updated the decor of the club a few years back which was a big improvement over the once was 10:15 Folsom they have made strides to increase the quality of an evening here.
I have not been here in years due to no real interest in this place. 10:15 has HUGE potential and was once a great venue due to incredible thumping sound system they push. This sound system can make even the modest DJ sound good.
Get some good DJ's in here and i will be back.
1015 has been through a whole lot of changes over the many years I've visited it. They've gone from the Asian basement full of candy kids to a more comfortable booth laden setting. No more sweaty underage droppers groping my butt!
There is little that people know about the redesign of the club. There's a lot that they put into the back end of things to get the lighting and acoustics working better in both the basement and the top floor. It's not as hot and steamy either. Those darn perverts!
They always get the headliners.. That's probably the main draw. For an industry that needs to constantly redefine itself or risk fading away into the 'what-was-that-club' memory, 1015 has always been able to 1-up to stay in the competition.
My experience varies depending on the DJ's that are booked to play during any given night, but usually I've had a good time. If there's DJ's that I want to see then most likely I'll come here especially since I follow trance music on a weekly basis.
Actual venue is alright. I like how they have a few rooms so you can take your pick as to which one you want to spend your time in.
I am only giving this place 2 stars because I have practically been FORCED into attending due to the talent that they pull even though it seems like they have stopped trying lately (or I have stopped caring.) While there is nothing horrible in general about this club. I fucking hate the crowd. It seems like I am back in a mid 90s rave with nothing but a bunch of rolled out Asians everywhere I look. Once my date saw a girl drop a pill on the ground and then 4 other Asian girls scrambled to the floor and fought over it. Also, this is the only place that I have ever been to that I have ever seen coke done publicly or been there when somebody was murdered.
The security sucks. I have not been personally been kicked out, but my friend was once kicked out because they "thought" they saw him smoking a joint upstairs when it was a DJ who plays there almost every weekend who was doing it.
I haven't been here for a very long time, but seriously, I cant stand this place.
One of the best night clubs in the world. (talent wise) I kno because I've seen LOTS of top, world class DJ's and artists there. I used to be there every weekend years ago.
I probably wouldn't go there anymore ,unless, there is a specific DJ or act that is spinning or appearing there. The venue is ok. The music is great. The crowd ALWAYS varies. You can get a worldclass international jet crowd or bridge an tunnel and the like. You may even see hardcore druguse and worse. IT VARIES from one night to the next. Mixed bag ....you never know.
Either way like I said I would not go there anymore(not because of the evil corrupt security people) ,but, because I don't do that sort of scene anymore. I guess I finally outgrew it. But it is a great place otherwise....
LOL
Ahhh, the name says it all!!!!
The best and the only super club in the Bay or even i would way West Coast!
Amazing sound system all around! Banging music in all the rooms. Jeez over 20 years of history! Worldwide recognition! Has housed the BIGGEST names in the world of music.....
It's time for this place get on the map, and it will!!!!!
I've been here twice, once for the Yelp Elite event back in June and once for a debate watching party. I have to say that the layout is good if not sparse. But I suppose that is the point, to have as much room as possible for dancing. Unfortunately I've completely become a home body and haven't ventured out to experience 1015 in it's full glory. Hopefully something I am into will come here soon but as far as I can tell, the type of music is just not what I am into.
That would be almost anything trendy or now. But then again I have the music tastes of a 16 yr old girl in the early 00s so you might really like it!
I used to come here back in the day and a recent trip to 103 Harriet reminded me of why I don't come here anymore. Too many people ruin what could be a decent club with decent music. Also I hate paying covers, it just seems silly when they charge you a ton for drinks and there are other places that don't have covers. I do like the lack of a meat market scene you find in the North Beach clubs but I guess I just don't dig the electronic music scene that much.
So I came here a few times when the cover was free and got to see some cool local Djs that I adore, so my opinion of 1015 has risen a tad. I still would never pay to come here!
Anyways, I discovered their third room. How did I miss it all these times?! It's nice and roomy and doesn't get too packed, and I can dance to my hearts content without fear of getting too groped. Here, breaking eye contact with the guy approaching you totally works. Woot!
Oh and most of the people in this back room are pretty messed up anyways, so you can dance like a spaz and no one cares, or is too messed up to notice.
The bartenders back here are nice too, thanks for the free water! Much love headed your way!

Wow this place sucks. Donkey balls. I am giving it 2 stars for the sick house DJs that frequents here from time to time. But other than that, omg, this place needs a wrecking ball call.
Guys never leave you alone here (what part of no don't you understand). The bouncers are a-holes (rightfully so, who wants to deal with a bunch of crack heads). So many f'ed up bitaches with glow sticks (who can't use them) dancing aimlessly and of course there will be an outbreak of a fight or two.
I love the music here unfortunately and I often had to force myself to grin and bear it when my favorite international DJs are in town.
I wish I would like this place, but I can't. It's just plain grossie.
