My wife and I were looking to purchase our first home and didn't really know where to start looking for a loan. I tried calling all the big name banks and mortgage companies but it was a waste of time. Half the people I called I left a message for which I never got a phone call back, and the other half of the individuals I spoke to came off very rude and over aggressive. I finally decided to check out Yelp for some guidance. Luckily I found Rob and Reene at Loan 101. The fact they had so many 5 out 5 star reviews really caught my attention. When I first spoke to Rob on the phone, he spent about 30-40 minutes explaining what the process of buying a house entails and how not just the highest offer on a home seals the deal. You need people to move and constantly meet deadlines. If your not first, your last when it comes to purchasing a house. Rob and Reene totally exceeded my expectations. They always responded to my e-mails and phone calls with in 10-20 minutes. No matter if it was a weekend or a holiday, they always got back to me. To me this was key and it help ease alot of the stress in buying our first house. Rob and Reene are movers and shakers. They get you results. Not only are they workaholics, but they were also able to get me a mortgage rate that no other bank or broker could get close too.
Bottom line, if you want power players on your side to get you a killer rate and close escrow fast you call Loan 101. I know my wife and I owe alot to Rob and Reene. They are a huge reason we were able to obtain and afford the home of our dreams. -

Rob and Renee were recommended to me by a friend who had used them previously and I was extremely satisfied with their service on my re-fi:
- They are extremely professional, courteous and available.
- They quoted very competitive rates and costs.
- I was kept apprised during the entire process.
- I was able to conduct the entire process online with just PDFs (except for the notary at the very end who came to our house at night on a Sunday!)
As a result, it all went on schedule (including having to subordinate the loan with a HELOC I have with a company on the East Coast) and came in UNDER the promised cost! Totally stress free and enjoyable!
I would definitely use them in the future and highly recommend them.

Rob and Renee are the simply the best. My wife and I were referred to Rob when we bought our house 13 years ago and have refinanced with him twice since when rates hit their lowest points over the years. It is so comforting to work with trusted professionals particularly in the mortgage industry. We have gotten the best avaiable rates. There is no bait and switch. They communicate though out the process. They make it convenient and now we are paying hundreds less per month, this month than we were paying last month, which really helps.

Rob offers the most competitive rates and costs that I've found in the last few years. He has access to several lenders and is not associated with any specific one. This is why I trust him for re-financing my loan. I know I don't need to shop around because he does the job for me and beats everybody else's price. Renee and the rest of his staff offer exceptional customer service and make the otherwise difficult process of re-financing a positive experience.

My husband and I purchased our first home through the help of Loan101, who was referred to us by our RE agent, The Dawn Thomas Team.
During our first phone meeting with Rob, he was explaining some of the calculations to me. (With loans/finances/etc., my brain usually stops listening by the second line item). But, even with my extreme right brain and him explaining on the phone, I was able to follow at least 25%. To me, that's pretty incredible. That night, I told my husband, we are going with Loan101.
Of course we didn't choose Loan101 based on just that. They have a lot of experience and are connected to over 40 lenders.
Loan101 was professional and efficient during our process with the lender. Even when the lender was giving us a headache, Loan101 was the buffer (and an efficient and professional one at that) for us and they made the process much more easier than it would've been without them.
I couldn't be more happier with their service and I am so glad that we had them on our team. -

Lenders have swung the pendulum so far to fiscal convervatism that it is ludicrous, but Rob and Renee made the financing happen despite all the foolishness of lender requirements. -

If you are looking for a mortgage broker that is diligent, responsive and knowledgeable then Rob McCarthy is your man.

Rob and Renee helped me with my 30 year conventional refinance. They were very professional and prompt. All my questions were answered within a working day through email. I dealt mostly with Renee, and she is very knowledgeable and polite. The loan process took 2 months, which is a month longer than I expected. I do not fault 101Loan since we had all the documents ready and waiting for the lender to approve weeks before. All-in-all, it was a very painless process. I would recommend them without hesitation.

I have just refinanced with 101 loan for the second time and I can tell you their help, knowledge, and professionalism makes me forget about the mortgage crisis and wonder if ALL loan professionals were like Rob and Renee would we would never have had a crisis to begin with. the process was smooth and I was kept apprised of the process the entire way.
Usually when I receive great service I tell people when they ask but in the case of 101loan I went out and proactively told all my friends about the excellent service I received.

I got a referral to Rob & Renee after spending 6 months frustrated and unable to refinance my home even though I had good credit. Not only did they get me a great loan but they were able to recommend a few quick tips to get my credit score higher which saved me $2,500 in closing costs. Though I rarely give five stars to a business, these guys deserve it!

We bought our first home a few years ago. Being new to the process we'd debated working directly with banks and finding the best rate or working with a broker. Everyone seems to have their opinion on which is the right approach. I see it the same way I look at taxes. If your taxes as easy and straightforward, go ahead and do it yourself. I'm not sure this is ever the case with buying a home.
Our real estate buying agent recommended Rob as she has to other clients. We went thru the process and of all the people we had to deal with on closing the house, he was by far the easiest to work with and understand. He laid everything out in spreadsheets and then walked me thru any questions I had, line by line. He told me what to expect from the parties we had to work with and it was almost like he was predicting the future. His cost and schedule were exactly what he stated it would be. He told me what to expect at each stage, so stress wasn't part of the equation.
The downside to having everything go so smooth was that he made it look easy. So a year later when we went to apply for a HELOC directly, we realized how time consuming it can be to do this on your own. He closed a mortgage for us in less than 40 days. It took me over four months to close on the HELOC.
Since then we have refinanced again, but thru Rob/Renee. Again, the process took around 35 days start to finish. He then also pointed me in the direction to swap out my HELOC for better terms and I ended up with a better rate and a closing that took 30 days.
As others have mentioned, both Rob and Renee are fantastic. They make themselves accessible and meet your schedule. I'd recommend them to any of my friends. -

Rarely do you find a Broker that understands all aspects of the mortgage industry and how that ties in with your financial planning. Don't waste your time on the phone with the "Big-bank-rookie", get the job done right with someone who really knows the business.

Rob was referred to me by friends who had their home purchasing and financing done by 101 Loan service in 2005. They love Rob's efficiency!
With Rob's 101 Loan service and Renee's excellent assistant help, the funding process for my home mortgage was extremely fast and smooth. As I was a first home owner, I didn't know what to do but they walked me through every step on the way from applying, getting approval, fund transferring and got to the escrow; they even email me a reminder of my first mortgage payment due date, how awesome was that!
Everything was done remotely via emails.;) How cool can that be?! His e-service is perfect for me who has a full time working schedule. So I refer 101 Loan to all my other friends, families and coworkers who are or might be in needed of financial service.
Oh, I also encourage my friends to share their experience with Rob's service on yelp so you have more people with other opinions.

Rob and Renee found us a great loan at a great rate! After having spoken to a few different brokers and banks, Rob and Renee really know what they are talking about and how to deal with people and different situations. Rob even actually called the selling agent to speak on our behalf and to let the seller know that we were rock solid with the deal, considering there were multiple offers on the house and the sellers wanted a solid buyer and shortened close. They both also took the time to explain and talk us through a lot of really confusing loan details. In the end they really performed and I will be definitely suggesting them to my family and friends!

I have worked with Rob and his team on multiple transactions, and he, Renee and Karla are always hand-on, professional, thorough and diligent. Several of my clients have commented specifically how nice it is to deal with a group that is so involved and detail-driven after dealing with brokers and lenders who treat them like just another number being processed in the system. And that goes for the smallest loans to the largest loans. They understand that great customer service means, in the end, repeat business, and grasp the concept that it is their duty to make an already arduous process less painful, not more painful. I am new to CA so when buying a house, I had no idea where to turn. Rob was referring to me by a friend and being new, you will take any recommendation. I just closed on my house yesterday and I must say, I have nothing but the absolute best things to say about Rob and Renee. They worked with me via phone/email (which due to my crazy work schedule was a requirement -- I never met them in person!) and they were the most responsive team in the world. I have lots of questions and one of them always got back to me immediately ... even if to say they had to get back to me and would get a final answer in a few hours.
The rate Rob got us was phenomenal -- lower than I had imagined -- with a great cash back at closing. In addition, and probably most importantly, we closed when we said we would close!!! I know the even the sellers realtor was shocked as this doesn't happen very often. Another great thing Rob did was during the offer process. He actually called the sellers agent to tell them that we were all pre-approved and that all was set with us, to put her mind at ease about the lower-than-asking-price offer we made. He was able to make her feel that the seller wasn't taking a gamble that this wouldn't close (which happens so frequently) .
I will recommend Rob to ANYONE who asks me and would use him again in a heartbeat. -

Trying to refi my house was a bear as I was getting the run around by different banks and getting nowhere. Then my good friend recommended Rob and after the first meeting with him my refi was done in a month. After taking my financial information Rob had an answer for me in one week! He said I was qualified for several loan plans and all of them were lower interest than what the banks were quoting me!!! I chose which one I wanted and now my refi is done. I can't recommend Rob enough.

I've known rob for several years now and have referred him to several friends & clients. There are alot of mortgage brokers out there, but Rob is definitely head and shoulder above the rest. Not only is he extremely knowledgable about residential loans, but because he has access to over 45 lenders he can get the best rates available...and his closing fees are very low, so you end up with the best of both worlds. Exceptional/timely customer service, the best rates available and lower fees.

Our whole family uses Rob- he (and Renee) are that good. We first used them to refi our home and again later when we bought another. They worked fast and got us great rates. My husband and I are both self employed, and despite our excellent credit, the banks were less than eager to lend to us. But Rob made it happen in 30 days with the best rate possible! I recommend him to all of my friends and clients. He and his staff return emails right away and are savvy to all the latest trends, laws, rules, etc. In this market it is best to choose a lender who is GOOD, not who is the cheapest. 101 Loan delivers!

Home buying is really a stressful experience. With so many options and alternatives, it is difficult to make decisions. After reading reviews on Yelp, I got in touch with Renee and she has been very patient, prompt and responsive. Rob & 101 Loans is the BEST loan company out there. My husband & I used Rob & 101 Loans for our primary residence loan and it was the best experience with a bank I have ever had. We had A LOT of issues getting our house to close and Rob & his team are the only reason we are still not waiting to move into our house. My husband & I own 4 other properties and we wish 101 Loans could help us with loans on all of our properties because our experience with the banks has been very frustrating- to say the least!!! Rob provides personal attention & quick response to all of your questions. If you need a new loan or want to refinance your current loan you would be crazy to not use 101 Loans.

I can't say enough good things about Rob and Renee! I used to think all mortgage brokers were either stupid or dishonest or both but I have swallowed my words since working with 101 Loans. I have worked with Rob McCarthy and his Senior Loan Coordinator, Renee' Steff at 101 Loan on numerous transactions--including the refinance of my husband's and my own home. Rob is very knowledgeable (having been in the lending industry for over 25 years), ethical, and really wants what is the best for his clients. Renee` is extremely detail oriented and communicative. Between the two of them and the rest of the support staff, it's the perfect combination to ensure success in a real estate transaction (which is vital to me when representing buyers) or in your refinance. Rob has relationships with over 40 direct lenders, so he's able to shop the best rates and programs for my clients' specific needs. So many loan brokers are either going out-of-business or don't have the relationships and connections that Rob does. What this means to the consumer is that Rob can get the best rates AND give you the personalized service you deserve. Most consumers are not aware that by going to a lender directly, that they are paying retail rates. Rob is able to get loan packages at wholesale--ultimately costing the consumer less in most cases. Bottom line--I HIGHLY recommend Rob and his team at 101 Loan!

I'd give them a 10 if I could...i just bought my first home - still in the closing process - but when i first started i was told - never go to a mortgage broker when you can find your loan at a bank yourself. so i tried that route first - let me tell you, unless you are okay with waiting days for an answer from the bank's mortgage person (possibly passing good interest rates by) and buying only the products the bank sells (and definitely passing other amazing loan products by), oh and did I mention leaving message after message after message with no return calls - be my guest. I decided to go with Rob and Renee at 101Loan and they were amazing...highly responsive to all my emails and messages...worked hand in hand with my real estate agent - we were like one team working towards the purchase of my house...They busted their buns for me, responded to what seems like hundreds of emails that (thanks Renee!!) in lightening speed, countless phone calls explaining things to me - the amount of time and energy they spent on my home purchase was definitely felt!!! They deserved every penny of their fee - and more!! ...in the end they ended up saving me more money in the long run than I believe sweating it out with a bank would have. would you go with an amateur to handle the single most expensive and important purchase of your life? come on...

I have been in the real estate industry going on 15+ years now and I have worked with a ton of mortgage brokers and I can honestly say that Rob and his staff are second to none. They provide great service and knowledge and they shop for the best rates possible, but most importantly they make sure my clients get their funding to close their transaction on time. That alone is very difficult to find in this industry. I would highly recommend Rob to everyone refinancing or purchasing real estate.

Rob and Renee are awesome! Rob provided me with far better rates than my original loan broker. He was honest and upfront with me throughout the entire process. Renee always promptly answered my questions thoroughly. I jokingly tell my friends that it was easier to apply for my loan than it would have been to complete another rental application, but Rob and Renee really did make the process feel that easy. With their help, I was even able to close escrow sooner than was originally predicted. For friendly, honest, efficient service at very reasonable rates, look no further!!!
